FnT 032: Domestic abuse with Erica Bowen

In today’s episode, we talk about domestic abuse with Dr Erica Bowen, a Registered Forensic and Coaching Psychologist, and founder of Hope-Makers. We’ll discuss the different types of domestic abuse because some don’t leave visible marks and bruises, but nonetheless damaging. We’ll also try and understand what to do, whether it’s you or someone you know living in an abusing situation. We appreciate that leaving an abusive partner is a very difficult thing to do. It frequently feels like you are failing, or destroying your family, or not trying hard enough to work things out, or not giving your partner a second chance. But a second, third or even a fourth chance to straight thongs up will unlikely change the situation because domestic violence involves an ongoing pattern of behaviour that aims at controlling a partner through fear.
