Convention wraps up last night, Donald Trump with a 93-minute acceptance speech. And I thought his tone, his emotion, was spot on. I think he resonated with not only the arena, but the American people last night. And right out of the gate, he wanted to explain and let everybody hear it from the horse's mouth what he went through with the assassination attempt. Let me begin this evening by expressing my gratitude to the American people for your outpouring of love and support, following the assassination attempt at my rally on Saturday. A little bit further turn, which I'm very lucky I didn't do. When I heard a loud, whizzing sound and felt something hit me really, really hard on my right ear. The amazing thing is that prior to the shot, if I had not moved my head at that very last instant, the assassins bullet would have perfectly hit its mark. And I would not be here tonight. We would not be together. I'm not supposed to be here tonight. Not supposed to be here. Yes you are, yes you are. And the crowd starts to chant back. Yes you are. Joining us now, Ryan Schmels, our Fox correspondent in DC with the latest on the investigation to all of this. Ryan, good morning. Welcome in. Hey, happy Friday, Jackie. Happy Friday to you. So obviously a lot of discussion on the lack of the, I guess, competency of the director of the Secret Service and this roof should have been covered. I think we've seen, I mean, ad nauseam videos from all different angles, people screaming. There's somebody on the roof. So the investigation started a little bit. She did appear and didn't have much to say. It was more of a CIA, CIA event. So she's back in Monday, I guess. So where are we in all of this? Yeah, so we heard you justify before the House Oversight Committee on Monday. They actually just put out a joint statement saying they plan on getting to the bottom list and that they do not condone political violence in any form. We are also expecting the House Homeland Security Committee to have a hearing related to this on Tuesday. They'll probably have different witnesses. Director Ray is not going to be there. I believe we're going to be seeing local law enforcement officers there. And then Wednesday, the FBI director will be in front of the Judiciary Committee. So it's going to be a full fledged week of testimony related to the response to the shooting and also the investigation is still ongoing. Yeah, the fact that she is still in play there and has not been suspended pending further investigation, nothing. In fact, Joe Biden actually said he has confidence in faith in her being still the secret service director tells me that they're going to push back, put up defensive responses and try and spin this into, look, we try to do the best thing we could with the circumstances here. We did make a mistake in one or two things, but, you know, they already started pointing back at local law enforcement from the secret service side of things about the perimeter. You know, the way it's set up, secret service does inside the perimeter. The outside is done by local law enforcement. Then you hear local law enforcement says, look, we didn't have the personnel. You had a son, you know, traffic duty and waving wands to keep metal detectors up and running. We couldn't handle all of that. So, will you see, I think, you know, any real accountability for where the buck stops and that's with the director? Should she be gone? Will she be gone? Your thoughts? Yeah, well, she's going to take a lot of heat. I can tell you that. I mean, there have not been enough answers from the secret service or the FBI to satisfy people who have been on these briefings so far, at least that's what I'm gathering from this. Yeah, it really just depends on what the next couple of days are going to look like. And so, we'll wait and see. Yeah, I just, I hope we get the transparency that we need. I hope that, you know, there's some accountability in all of this because if it's left alone and the last of days, glad as well, you know, we made a mistake here. We're going to fix what caused the mistake and, you know, let's just all move on. That's not good enough. I don't think, you know, many people want to hear that and just everybody's okay with just moving along. Now, I would imagine there's, you know, some of these people that have been nasty about Donald Trump in this whole situation on social media, they'll be fine with it. Some of the Democrats that are still trying to hold on to are going to be fine with that. But no, I think this has to end. I don't care what comes out of it. Somebody's got to be held accountable for what took place and how that guy was able to get up on that roof and pull this off with so much warning and so many people screaming. There's somebody up there. I mean, the minute they hear that, they ought to be flooding the zone with people getting up there and taking a look. Where were the drones to keep an eye on the rooftops? Why was that even left open to begin with? Yeah. As you mentioned, so many unanswered questions. Thank you, Ryan. Hey, guys. It is Ryan.
