John Decker, our White House correspondent, joining us now as he is in Milwaukee at the convention to talk about that. And also the document case is John as a lawyer, get his thoughts on the legal move there. John, welcome in. Thanks for being here. Thank you, JT. Good to be with you today. Boy, what a night it was last night. I don't know how they're going to top that tonight. I know Nikki Haley's going to be speaking, but your thoughts on last night and how the energy was. Well, it was a good night, first night for Republicans, a surprise appearance by Donald Trump. Of course, the big announcement yesterday afternoon, JT Vance is the running mate for Donald Trump, and he was formally nominated as the Republican vice presidential nominee yesterday. So lots of news yesterday, some good speakers as well. So good first night for Republicans, and, you know, look, you mentioned Nikki Haley. This is an opportunity for Republicans to come out of this convention completely unified ahead of the November election. And I think that Nikki Haley and her speech will do just that. And it would be interesting to see how she's received initially by the crowd on hand, given that she did challenge the person who elevated her to the position of US ambassador to the United Nations, and yet she chose to run against him for the Republican nomination. Well, I think JT Vance handled that same situation in that he was also a never-trouper before and had some, you know, things to say about him in the past, and he basically owned it with Sean Hannity last night and said, "Look, he changed my mind. I came around. I got to know him more," and, you know, "I worked towards what he was talking about, and I get it now." So he didn't shy away from it, and maybe Nikki Haley, like you said, with a great opportunity to unite, will start right out of the gate with, "Look, I know you think I hate the guy, but I got to tell you, I was running against him, and, you know, that's what you do, you know, but now I agree. We've got to get this, you know, train this Republican conservative movement moving, and I'm on board with our president in any way he needs me, so we'll watch that. I do want to get your thoughts on the case yesterday done more long ago, as the judges now kick that out, but Jack Smith says, "Eh, I'm going to appeal this here." Ego speaking there, Jack, what do you think, John? Well, I think Jack Smith feels that he is a strong case. I actually think that Jack Smith has a strong case as well, and I'll tell you why. I believe that the attorney general of the United States is statutorily authorized to appoint a special counsel. In fact, J.T. Bill Barr, the former Trump attorney general, cited the same exact statute to appoint then special counsel John Durham. Ultimately, it's up to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and whoever loses at that level can then appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. But there is no doubt about it, J.T. Big win for Donald Trump yesterday. It means that that classified documents case that has been brought against him likely will not get underway until after the November election. And if Donald Trump is elected, he will instruct his Department of Justice to essentially dismiss this case altogether. So really good news for Donald Trump yesterday. Other big news too. Quickly, Elon Musk pledging $45 million each month now leading up to the election and afterwards to make sure everything is run properly. How about that news? Well, that's like you or I, J.T. saying, you know, I'll give you $5 a month. It's like means nothing to this guy. $45 million dropping the bucket for Elon Musk. Yeah, that is bad news for Democrats, you know, as it relates to trying to go a dollar for dollar in a matchup against the Republicans who are raising a lot of money for this presidential campaign. Every election cycle, we say this and this certainly holds true for this election cycle, J.T. This will be the most expensive election in U.S. history. There's no doubt about that. And the avalanche of support for Donald Trump seems to be gaining more steam every day. John Decker at the convention. Thank you, buddy. Hey, everyone.
