Senator Katie Britt joins us now to talk about the convention, the electricity last night and Katie, welcome in. I got to tell you last night, you look fantastic. You did a great job and I'm to whoa, the energy you brought last night. Fantastic job. Thank you so much. It was such an honor, but it was exciting to get to be in front of the delegates, to get to be in front of the convention, to get to be in front of our country in the world, talking about the change that Donald Trump is going to bring. So I was so honored to be asked, and what a great night it was. Yeah, I got to ask you about JD Vance, and then tonight, Nikki Haley, these are two people that used to be opposing Donald Trump. JD Vance, you know, was asked about that with Hannity, and he said, "Look, he made a believer out of me. He changed my mind. Yeah, I did say those things, and yes, I'm going to own that, but now, watching him, getting to understand what he's doing better and plugging into him, he's changed my mind. I'm on board." Nikki Haley, obviously, has been opposed to him and pretty strong about it. We'll be speaking tonight. So your thoughts on two people that were never Trumpers kind of reflects a lot of people in America that, you know, I'm not a Biden guy. I'm in the middle of kind of an independent but Trump. I just rubbed me so wrong. Do you think the impact from JD Vance speaking about the fact he wasn't never Trump, Nikki Haley, the same thing, but now they're coming on board, that they'll get, you know, the same, you know, feeling. Okay, well, look, maybe these people are making some sense now. Listen, first, I think you are nailing the thing here. We are united. I think people have taken a step back. They are looking at where the country is under Joe Biden, and they know that in every single category, sincerely, we are in decline. They know that President Trump's both love for the country and his vision and his policies will put it back on track and use all walks of the Republican Party plus independence and others coming over and saying, "This is what we need to preserve our nation." But listen, JD, I want to take a second and congratulate my dear friend, JD Vance. So, as you know, JD and I are freshmen colleagues, and we get together once a month for dinner, all of the Republican freshmen, and it's been an opportunity not only to exchange ideas, but to actually get to know each other. And Wesley and I have loved getting to know JD and Usha. What they bring to the circuit is tremendous. I think you are just going to see the level of energy to just continue to rise with JD and Usha. I mean, he gets it. You look at his story. You look at his background. You look at his policies. You look at his will. I am so excited. And last night, Wesley and I were, oh my gosh, beyond humble, the president asked us to sit in his friends and family box. And so there we were right there, right there behind Don Jr. and Kimberly and had the opportunity to walk right down and congratulate JD and give him a huge hug. So I am not only excited, Wesley and I are for JD and Usha, but we're excited for the nation. This strengthens the ticket, and it's going to mean a mistake for us in November. I want to get your thoughts on the situation that took place over the weekend with the assassination attempt of Donald Trump. And the fact that he was so resilient to back up last night, standing strong, as Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina referenced him, the lion stood back up after the devil with a gun showed up. I mean, it's just painted a picture that was amazing to me. And I think right now we need full transparency on this investigation. I know Congress is pulling, you know, the Secret Service head in for some discussion and this investigation continues. But first of all, your thoughts on what took place Saturday and what we need to be doing moving forward to prevent this from happening again. So I mean, what a sad day for America. Honestly, in my 42 years of life, I think it is the darkest or at least I mean close to it darkest days in American modern history. I can't think of anything else that would have just changed and reshaped the country. If it just one, one inch literally, or, you know, two millimeter. It just, it's unbelievable. So just first off, such a sad day, my prayers are with the family of the gentleman who lost his life. Obviously, he lost his life as the way he led his life being a hero, you know, putting his body in front of his family. I mean, what a patriot. When a great American, I hope everyone, if you feel compelled and you have, and if you have the ability, you know, $5 to his family just to say, Hey, we got you moving forward. I think it would just be so great. Additionally, you know, we just pray for all the people that were there. You pray for President Trump. You could feel it last night when he walked in. You could feel the emotion like as he walked into that box and you could feel, you know, I told you were sitting right behind. Donald Jr. and Eric and Tiffany, and you could feel from, you could just feel the rawness of the moment of the last 48 hours. I hope that this reminds me of a nation that we have to turn to God, that we must join each other in prayer. And, you know, I've said it is not a time for political violence. That is never acceptable. But coming together and figuring out how we move forward, I think, is critically important. And I am grateful to the good Lord for sparing Donald Trump's life and also sparing this nation, the pain that would have come from that. I think it's a wake up call moment, though. You know, you look at the rhetoric that you see, particularly in the media, the story that they continue to tell all of this. Like, we all need to take a step back and figure out how to move forward together. Absolutely. And as you mentioned, the rhetoric, you know, Senator from Tennessee saying basically the same thing, the rhetoric has paused for now. We'll see. Let's talk about this a week after the convention. But we've already seen the left come back out and make snide comments about not only the assassination attempts, but the appointment of JD Vance. And, you know, it's ramping up again already. And listen, you're spot on. I was just watching the news this morning and I am actually furious because there are Democrats that I tried to get in touch with about these very issues that are happening that have yet, you know, have yet to find time for us to connect on the phone. But I see them trashing JD online. I mean, on the news, see them talking about in a negative connotation about Donald Trump. And it just showed me that not much was learned from what occurred. And I am incredibly disappointed in my colleagues who chose to play politics in this moment instead of figuring out a way to come together. And my goal was how can we speak with one voice about what occurred so that we can give the American people hope that, you know, that the Senate will do it. It needs to, the House will do it. It needs to, and we'll get to the bottom of this. Well, Katie, once again, thank you for being with me this morning.
