Going to DC right now to talk with Jared Halpern, Jared, were you in the room last night or did you watch on TV? I was in the room for both of those events actually. I'll say about the the linsky thing. He turned it well. I mean it was he caught it quickly. I mean, you know, they were able to kind of make a joke about it. But listen, when you have so many questions post a bait about the president's mental fitness about how sharp he is, those types of misuse, gaps, misstatements, whatever you want to put mistakes or magnified, right? And again, that kind of was on display a little bit during the news conference early in the news conference. The president inadvertently called Harris Trump. He was talking about kind of a matchup between Trump and Harris and inverted their names. Again, that's in and of itself like in a vacuum, not that big a deal, right? But obviously, everything is magnified given the concerns. You know, the press conference, first of all, let me say as a member of the White House Press Corps, I'm glad we finally got one. It had been since November that we'd had kind of a fulsome, robust solo press conference with President Biden. That being said, listen, I think that it went fine from a political standpoint. It was certainly focused a lot on foreign policy. That is a big strength of President Biden. He knows that really well. You heard him speak in really pretty granular detail on some of these foreign policy questions. He certainly explained that he is staying in the race. He remained defiant that he's not considering changing his mind on that. Now we wait and kind of see, I guess, whether or not it was enough to maybe calm the nerves of Democrats who are really worried. And I don't know if it did that. I don't know if it went the other way either. It was probably like, if you want to think about it in terms of baseball, like was it a home run? Probably not. I don't know. Was it like a single or a double, I guess? You know, he's president's on base. But again, when you have a news conference in an event that has kind of been billed as such an important moment for your political life, you know, you're going to need to hit a couple over the fence here pretty quickly. He might be on second, but I don't think the third base coach is waving him in Jared. Well, no, but again, was this enough to maybe, you know, stop the bleeding? I think that that's the question we're going to be looking for the answer for today. I don't think any minds were changed yesterday. Yeah, I think that's right. If you think if you're still riding with Biden, I think you're still riding with Biden. If you didn't like it, I don't think you like him any bit more anymore. I think you're right. No, I think that's right. And that's why I say like, I don't think it was, you know, it doesn't open up the floodgates, right? It does like people who were sticking with him post a bait and waiting to see how the news conference went, I don't think or jumping ship. But at the same time, those that have publicly called for his departure, I don't think we're going to come out with statements today that say I was wrong, the president should stay in, right? And a lot of that is going to be based. And you heard the president talk about that, right? A lot of that is based on polling. And listen, politicians look at polls. They can tell you that they don't and they're lying to you. They look at polls. They are very important to politicians. And the down ballot races in the House and the Senate are going to be worrisome. And so when you hear from members talking about they want Biden to step down, it is because, in their view, it should not be a particularly close race between the president and the former president in their view, right? And right now, even under the best case scenario for President Biden, it appears to be a 50/50 proposition, right? It appears to be a jump ball. And that's probably a probabilistic outlook that an awful lot of Democrats have right now. And so when that happens and you get in the summer and you get close to the conventions and the hand-ringing starts, you're going to start hearing these calls about, man, can we find a way out of this? And those conversations are not going to be tamped down because of the news conference last night. I think you're right on Jared Halpern live from Washington, D.C. Thank you so much for joining us.
