And there's been a recent survey, 10 most offensive things that you can do at a restaurant. And my question is, are these people actually doing these things, going out of their way to do these things? Or do they not realize they are doing it? Joining me now is the heads-up of the franchise consulting company and the great American franchise expo and the author of the franchise NBA, Nick Nionakis. Nick, welcome to the show. Hey, John, thanks so much. Good morning, Birmingham. Good morning to you, Nick. So, do you think these people actually, they're doing these things just because they want to irritate people or they're that oblivious? I think they need to have their grandparents taken behind the woodshed and spanked if they're doing any of these things that we're going to be talking about. It is such rude behavior. I know none of your listeners would ever do any of this kind of stuff, but I've seen it. I bet you've seen it. Your listeners have seen it. And I think that we need to get back to a more civil society. Okay. So, what are some of the things? What's the big one? The two that were tied for first place, number one, you order the food, you wolf it down, and then you call the manager and you say, "I didn't like any of it. I'm not paying." I call that theft, by the way. I mean, come on. Yeah. If it doesn't taste good, take a bite, send it back. If it really doesn't taste good, but you don't need to take the bread and wipe every last piece off the plate and then say, "I'm not paying for it." The other is kids. If you're taking your kids out to eat, keep them on a chain for crying out loud. They don't need to go running around. It's not the parks and rec. It's a restaurant, but that is something that a lot of restaurant goers have said. It's happening more and more. And food's getting expensive. It's expensive to go out to eat. And if you're on a date night or if you're at a business meeting, you don't want a bunch of little kids running around, screaming all over the place. Have you ever been in a restaurant where you're in a booth and the person behind you has a kid in their booth and the kid is standing up in the booth facing you and putting stuff in your hair and waving to you and smacking in the back of the head? I have. And I've also had that happen on an airplane where they're kicking the seat in front of them. And then when you ask, would your mind and the parents get all aggro on you? That's not right. They go, "No, I don't mind. Keep right on kicking." Right. Yeah. Have your kids throw stuff into my meal. That'd be great. That'd be wonderful. All right. Nick, what else? What's another thing that these people are doing? Talking on your cell phone, on speakerphone in the middle of a crowded restaurant. Nobody wants to hear your conversation. What if it's a really important conversation that makes you look really good? Well, then you need to talk louder because everybody has to know how important you are, right? Don't mind me. It's important. Yeah. Well, which president? He's probably not talking very intelligently. I was guessing. It really depends on which president we're talking about, I suppose. That's all right. All right. You know, the other thing that really, really peed off a lot of restaurant goers is when somebody is whistling or snapping their fingers to get the attention of the waiter or the waitress. I mean, come on. These are hardworking people. A lot of the women in restaurants, they're single moms. They're working their butts off. Do they really need to have somebody snapping their fingers at them to get some ketchup? I want to know who came up with because, you know, I think somebody saw that in a movie and thought it was a good idea. I can tell you that might fly in some cafe in New York City. That does not fly in Birmingham, Alabama. If it's in Birmingham, Alabama, you might get smacked, but then my question is if you're acting like this to somebody who is going to be handling the food that you're putting in your mouth and you don't know where it's being made, do you really want to piss them off? Excuse my French. Exactly. Yeah. No, no, you don't. Nick Neunakis, thank you so much for joining us and giving me at least a short list of what not to do the next time I am out dining wheel. We'll keep all these things in mind.
