Over the weekend, the congressional Democrats were still very, very concerned about the president's performance at the debate the other week, and this is what Adam Schiff had to say. "I feel as long as I gave it my all and I did the goodest jobs I know I can do. That's what this is about." This is not just about whether he gave it the best college try, but rather whether he made the right decision to run or to pass the torch. It sounds like Adam Schiff says he might not. Joining us now is Rory O'Neill. Rory, what are they saying? Well, it'll be interesting to hear what more Democrats say now that they're getting back to work in Washington. Congress had been on recess since the debate, so we haven't really had them all back on Capitol Hill to pin them all down and get their position statements. As you said, five House Democrats have come forward publicly to call on Joe Biden to step aside, at least four in senior leadership were said to be making the same demand in an off the record call held among congressional leadership yesterday, democratic leadership. So we'll see what happens when everyone has gathered against Dan Capitol Hill. Still though, really the only opinion that counts is Joe Biden's at this point. The bell has been wrong, the die cast, he's on track to be the nominee. It's really up to him to say no thanks. So are they asking that he step aside for somebody else to run, or are they asking him to step aside and hand the raids over to a Kamala and make her the president? And then that would kind of make her the incumbent going into the election. Yeah, I think there are more calls for him to serve his term, but they want him to say, thank you very much delegates. I will not accept your nomination and I hope that you will endorse and vote for insert name here, but they want him to say Kamala Harris for the most part. What if I've heard there's also the only other way around this is if they go ahead and enact the 25th amendment and have him declared an unfit for office and have him removed. Are there any serious motions for that to occur or is that more just people speculating? Yeah, that's just a talk radio and the internet going at you. It doesn't seem to be any serious call for that, but look, this is also a big week ahead. There will be a presidential news conference tomorrow, President Biden having a news conference as part of a NATO summit, the world leaders all gathering in Washington this week. So this is a very big week and it could go either way. Joe Biden could come off looking very presidential, have a good news conference working with world leaders or something could happen. So it's a bit of a wait and see. And it seems like a lot of people are waiting to see every single stumble every time he locks up and you've got to wonder how this is affecting him psychologically because every time you are searching for a word, you're like, oh no, it's starting, it's starting and you don't want to let on, there's a problem. So that's why I guess he tries to limit his exposure to people who might ask him a question that would trip him up. And so he doesn't he doesn't want to, but it just exacerbates itself. Right, it is a chicken and egg kind of a problem, right? And you wondered, before this, he said, well, they're trying to, you know, the handlers at the White House are trying to keep a low profile because, you know, every time Joe Biden says something, the White House press office spends a week saying what he meant to say was, but so is it just that or is it something much more seriously, like it's like what we appeared to see during the debate that was held more than a week ago. And that's those are some of the questions that are out there. I think a lot of Americans, you know, we realize he's an 81 year old man and he's going to trip up things and misremember things like, okay, I get that. But then what we saw at the debate was something much more significant, everyone sort of raised an eyebrow at that one. And even with the Friday interview with ABC, not a lot of Americans are getting satisfactory answers. Well, Rory, I will say I watched the interview. His makeup was better, so he looked a lot more tan than he did because he was very pale with the debate. But then that's why Donald Trump, you know, they make fun of him for it. But with those bright lights on the debate night, he looked good, whereas Joe Biden looked washed out completely, a little cryptkeeper like, and, but even the next day would look much better after getting a makeup artist in there.
