Kevin Flanagan joins us now to take a look at the movies opening up this holiday weekend. Kevin, welcome in. So we went and saw Inside Out 2 last weekend, took the grandkids, and my daughter and son were there, and all the grandkids, Judy and I, and the other grandparents. I mean, we had the whole row at the AMC at the summit. And I'm going to tell you, I like the first one. The second one brings in some new emotions. In the premise of the movie, it's all of Riley, this little girl's feelings that are feeding or different feelings behind the scenes. And it's really a cute movie. I really enjoyed it. But just like in real life, anxiety had too much screen time in this movie for me. But I guess that's the point of the movie. But yeah, is any of the movies that we're about to talk about, you think, going to unseat Inside Out 2? Oh yeah, absolutely. As a matter of fact, it may, it probably won't, but it may actually do more money than Inside Out 2 opened wood. But I doubt it. But it will be the new number one this weekend. It's pickled way four comes out. And this is the fourth, actually the sixth in the Minions neighborhood. But this is the fourth in this particular series. This will unseat it. And in this one, we find Groot, who is taking on a secret identity, his wife and his kids. That's right. He's got kids got a newborn baby now. They've gone into witness protection with the anti-villain league, hiding him out because he's become kind of a good guy. Kurt Cunningham, by the way, is his new name. But one of the neighbors figured out who he is, gets him to pull off a little deal with her stealing the high school mascot. The bad guys discover where he is and all kinds of things break loose from there. But a lot of fun, a lot of minions, a lot of action. And it'll be another one that you want to take the grandkids and sit on the front row and watch. All right, very good. Yeah, I saw the speckleman being like, oh, here comes another one. Maybe we'll get another round with a grandkids. So that will be fun. Also opening up this weekend, fly me to the moon. This is not the Frank Sinatra documentary, is it? No, it's not. Fly me to the moon. I do like that song. This isn't a documentary at all. This is Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum. By the way, Ray Romano, Woody Harrelson, also making appearance in this. But those guys are with NASA. And Channing Tatum plays the head of NASA back in the 60s. We got the race to the moon going on against the Russians. And so they get worried that maybe we won't get to the moon. So they bring Scarlett Johansson in as a marketing expert so that just in case we don't get there, she's in charge of putting together a fake moon landing that'll fool everybody to think that we actually got there. So a lot of comedy, some great romance. And this is going to be a really fun movie this weekend. So that's a good one for for everybody. Like, you know, if they're like romantic comedies, Judy will like this one, I guess. Yes, she will. All right. And finally, Maxine, what's this one all about? Yeah, you're not on like this, JT. This is the third in the X series. Matter of fact, it was going to be the last one, but they've decided to go on and do a fourth. But Maxine is so we remember her, or I don't know if you remember her, but the movie in 2022 was called X. And it was about this Maxine is a character and they were off in the country side in Texas, and they were making a film. Turned out to be a kind of a slasher porn film. Well, that's what she is. It's kind of actress, but she wants to move into real movies. This is her chance, but the slasher, the killer, they call him the Night Stalker has tracked her down at this movie, and now he's killing some more people. So that another one of those kind of movies skipped that one. What are they doing open in that on a holiday weekend? Right. I mean, come on. I mean, there's a lot more out there. Now, I wanted to get your thoughts on Kevin Costner's movie. You know, as Horizon opened up, I guess underperforming on the expectations. It was at number three, obviously, you know, inside out too, was a huge movie. But were you surprised it didn't do as well as they anticipated? No, I wasn't. And I think, and again, he's done this with his own money, so he knew this thing to do a lot better than it did. I wasn't surprised because first JT, it's a long, slow sit in a three hour movie about the old West. You kind of don't mind doing that at home taking breaks, but in a theater, that's just a long time to watch a story that you know is going to eventually be a nine hour trilogy. So, but it will hang on for a while. This movie will slowly make money, I believe. Yeah, I watched a movie, one you recommended, last night streaming end of the rope based on a true story back in 1931 kind of took place in the West. But you know, there were cars at that point and some people had cars, some people still rode horses. But in this movie, it's about, you know, the family that went missing and the guy that the, you know, ultimately they grabbed for the crime. But based on a true story, I liked end of the rope. I thought that was really good. Yeah, it's kind of a slow moving Western as well, which, which you like with those old Westerns. But they develop a story and they keep you guessing in that one too, don't they? Yeah, any other good streaming things out there? I hear this all the time. Hey, you know, I asked the same question. What's new in any series or movies that you like right now that you're into? JT, I got, I've got caught up in binging on the mystery road, which is set in the outback of Australia. And it's got a great cast of characters who travel throughout. And it's a fun one because they start with a movie, then they come in with a couple of seasons of a series, then they have another movie that picks up with those left off. And then they start with the origin story. So it goes back to 2017 and keeps working through. So you can find that on prime mystery road. Mystery road. Okay. One that we're watching right now and presumed innocent with Jake Gyllenhaal. I like this one. And we just wrapped seven episodes of the one that you recommended about the tennis family down in Florida, apples never fall. That turned out to be pretty good too. No more seasons on that one based on a two story, right? Yes, yes, absolutely. So there you go. All right, Kevin, great. Excellent. Good. Some good choices out there streaming as well.
