I want to get a little John Putner, I mean I love him, he's a political analyst, he's president of the Takeback Action Fund and also a bush aide back in 2000 he knows the inside ropes, John, welcome back in, thanks for being here Thanks, wish I were a prisoner there, got my wife and grandbabies down in Auburn but I'm up Milwaukee, getting ready for the convention Oh there, well, alright, well let's talk about this big decision that came down yesterday from the Supreme Court and depending on who you ask you're either losing your ever love in mind or you're going, well, it's about time so the decision that presidents are, you know, immune to certain things during official presidential duties versus non-official duties I guess we were just talking with an attorney, Kirby Ferris from Ferris Riley and Peter in the studio a few minutes ago about this and he says the court felt kind of short on defining official versus non-official Sure, this court does seem to try to only go as far as they think they need to on decisions but, you know, the idea from the left that they're just creating new things here now Supreme Court generally makes a ruling which some, when something that everyone assumed was the case gets challenged which is what was happening with Jack Smith's latest attempt to throw a political opponent in prison or bankrupt him and so, yeah, this to me the basic ruling seems like common sense to me they certainly sent it back down the lower courts to decide as you said and it sounds like as Kirby said which, you know, which are official which aren't but the basic precedent had to be put in place here Yeah, basically this puts the halt on coming after your, you know, your opponent in a political situation here and you, you know, stop it all of a sudden Joe Biden goes from supporting the judicial system and our court systems with the New York case to oh my gosh, you can't trust the court system make up your mind, Joe, this does open the door for President Trump's legal team to kind of come back at this New York case and have it thrown in the essence that they want to say there are some things that were done in this trial that kind of fall in that arena of official presidential duties that were used to make a point in this other case in the state of New York Your thoughts on that? That's right and I think the bigger impact even is on Jack Smith he's been kind of the lead prosecutor they put on him and Smith 10 years ago was overruled nine nothing but a Supreme Court he went after Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell got him convicted to two years in prison basically for saying good things about a business leader in the state I mean it was absurd case but same kind of thing the goal was bankrupted McDonnell had 28 million legal fees thrown in prison he got a two-year prison sentence and of course keep them off the ballot McDonnell just won a big governor's race looked like he would probably a U.S. Senator today and shift the whole balance of the Senate if they had taken them out through the courts the Supreme Court in that case ruled nine to nothing against Jack Smith I mean he got so overboard in this case through it out so that's even Ruth Bader Ginsburg ruled against him so they put Smith in charge of going after Trump he had the guy that overruled nine nothing the Supreme Court and then act shocked that it leaves the Supreme Court ruled like not this yeah and the whole thing about challenging the election results all of a sudden this kind of opens that door as well and you know if you feel that the election wasn't done fairly there was some nefarious activity behind the scenes going on you know this blocks any political opposition from attacking you if you want to question that right yes and that's right and and this is the obviously came on the heels of the the January 6th decision and in that case I mean look that there were definitely some bad guys there January 6th I think there's some people who got attacked police and should be in prison but but this case you know the example somebody went into the capital for four minutes you know it came back out and was prosecuted it's ridiculous and it's interesting that our newest very liberal member of the Supreme Court actually ruled with the protesters in that case it was that one was very interesting not in this case but yeah they they've just gone so overboard again they just if you're running a campaign on the other side to threat to democracy therefore we have to bankrupt and throw him in prison keep him off the ballot as he tried to do in Columbus and it was really interesting it's a new CBS poll and they've run a whole campaign now for a few years on Republicans are a threat to democracy new CBS poll says 47% think democracy is safe if Trump's elected 48% it's only one point better think it's safe if Biden's elected that's basically 50/50 on who's threatening democracy right now on what they thought was their lead issue for this campaign right right and I love what the the Hill said Trump says Supreme Court delivered a high-level spanking to Jack Smith what about Mayor Garland Jack's boss here I mean it doesn't leave him looking you know very good either no I mean the fact that Garland could have been on the Supreme Court I just want everyone to remember that is overtly partisan he is this is again we had I mean you could say hey newest appointment very liberal woman et cetera but you know she's been willing to let that just mention it you know follow the law and you know she'll usually disagree with what conservatives would be but not always but Garland is obviously completely in the tank on this well I think the decision yesterday it's not over as far as arguing down the road when it comes to you know points that presidents you know will get themselves into her situations and lean on this and all of a sudden here comes an appeal to it on well this doesn't fit that definition well what's the definition well wait a minute that's right nobody wrote the definition we got it so there'll be more definition writing don't you think down the road on this oh sure I mean president can't walk down the street and you know talk some over the head with the baseball bat he was doing that with the president you know I mean I should think you'd be arrested for well some of the you know people that came out with these ridiculous scenarios it's just outrageous and everybody you know that came through the courts and looked at this and looked at that that's not what this decision is saying stop with the insanity and the madness on the left punted inside of the liberal television networks all right it's always good John thanks for being with me the following is a high five moment from high five casino.com welcome to burger gift me would you like a high apple pie today yes yes yes I won so that's a yes on the apple pie I just went big time playing high five casino on my phone to real catch prizes free daily reward over 1200 games so yes or no on the apple pie whoa I want again I'll take that as a yes drive around have you had your high five moment today only at high five casino.com high five casino is a social casino no purchase necessary we're prohibited play responsibly conditions apply see website for details. high five casino.
