Rowan Neal joins us now, our correspondent in Florida Roy, welcome in, thanks for being with me So, your thoughts and a sentence on last night's performance Yeah, I mean it was just an absolutely abysmal performance by Joe Biden and really the Democrats have to be hitting the panic button to figure out what to do next because one of the fundamental issues is, after that performance, who's writing a check to support that? Yeah, my big question is, how is he possibly running the show in the White House? There's no way that what we saw on stage is capable of being the president of the United States once again indicating to me, and I think a lot of others, that Barack Obama, the team, is calling the shots from behind the scenes and maybe this was a big setup to show it's time for Joe to go by the Democrats A lot of discussion on maybe this will be the turning point but Joe's pretty stubborn, he's pretty putting his heels in when it comes to staying, he's still capable Your thoughts on the realistic possibility that he has replaced? Well, he would have to, himself, decide not to run again, so it's not like the Democrats can make some power move to get rid of him Biden himself would have to reject the nomination from the delegates, so that's obviously going to be difficult to do since those delegates are his people inside the Democratic Party, and so it would really have to be something that Biden himself would have to lead in order to make the announcement and lead to his replacement, and that's a complicated road, there's been no indication that's in the cards, although a lot of people will be turning to Jill Biden today to say, "Hey Doc, whisper those sweet nothings and get them to drop out" Yeah, I mean, a lot of people were actually taking shots at the First Lady and saying, "How can you continue to put him in a situation where it's extremely embarrassing, at one side, and dangerous on the other side for this man to be the president of the United States?" So, and immediately after the debate, you know, she comes out and says, "Oh, he answered every great question, it looked so good, nice job Joe, fantastic!" And I saw the CNN polls that came out afterwards, and it said 60% of the debate watchers, you know, felt that Trump won the debate compared to 33% who believed Biden won the debate. Who were these 33%ers? I mean, there are these blue, no matter who, heads in the sand, there's still people that think Joe Biden would still be a better president. Oh, it's the same on the MAGA side, you could argue as well, that there are the tie-hards that will be out there no matter what supporting their candidate, but, you know, how is it going to move the needle in November? Is the question, you know, how does it actually flip a vote, and does it, or does it suppress turnout? And how many people actually watch the whole debate is the other question? A lot of people may have seen Biden start to fall apart 11 minutes in and said, "Oh, that's it, I'm turning, I'm going to watch the game," and it turns it off. Right, right, and the other thing is, too, with Joe Biden's strategy, and we talked about this all week long, the aides that were getting him ready, I mean, for a week, maybe even longer at Camp David, this is what came out of that. This is your expertise preparation for the president to do a good job. You got to think that this is not really something that we came nowhere near what he looked like during the State of the Union address, and maybe it's, you know, just progressing, his cognitive skills are just progressing downward faster than we realized. Yeah, I mean, that's difficult to do, because we don't see him very much, or hear from him independently in public anyway, we don't get frequent press conferences, he doesn't sit down to do interviews, he did that long interview with Howard Stern recently and see much better off. And if you saw that actually he went to an after party, I don't know how you could call it a party last night, but he went to an after party in Atlanta last night, took the stage, sounded a hundred times better than he did just a half hour before. So I was at the format, was it the who was he overprepared for the, you know, got his head full of numbers and statistics and quotes, and Donald Trump just seemed much more free up there he seemed very relaxed, very much in command of the stage. There were a lot of fact checkers that could, you know, earn a living off some of the things that were said last night by Donald Trump but still, he made a much clearer, stronger presentation during that 90 minutes, obviously, then Joe Biden. Yeah, I'd like to see the fact checking on both sides because I think there was some, you know, I guess, you know, add-ons to stories and make it sound a big, bigger, different than what would be. And I want to be handicapped for us, right? Oh, for gosh sakes, skip the next debate, let's just get on the golf course and settle this, a six handicap or you can't. My new bar is I just want one of them to be able to grab a TV remote and record the debate. That would have been my, if any one of those old guys could figure out how to use a remote, that was surprising. Well, if this was a boxing match last night, somebody would have thrown the towel in earlier than 90 minutes, for sure. All right, Roy, thank you, buddy. High five casino.
