Evan Brown joins us now, our Fox correspondent in Miami, as we patiently await the return of the Boeing Starliner, and a couple of astronauts, rather, currently there at the space station. Well, it looks like they're going to be there for a while longer. Evan, welcome, and this was supposed to be just a, you know, a weak trip, wasn't it? It was. This is the test mission for the crew test mission for the Boeing Starliner, and the original plan was to have the crew of two that would be astronaut Sonny Williams and Butch Wilmore stay at the space station for about a week and then fly back. This has turned into a few weeks and probably will be a little bit longer. I were told now that it may not be until after July 5th that they would depart the station. If, in fact, they can depart the station on the Starliner. The Starliner has had a number of issues with it. It had leaks, specifically helium leaks from its thrusters, even detected before launch. She was determined that they would not affect the ride up. So they, they went with it. And now they're trying to figure out, can they fix it? Can it, can it be flown back to Earth with the leaks? Or can it not be flown at all? And so while that review is done, the astronauts are just staying a little bit longer with the rest of the station crew at the space station. And NASA has contingencies for these kinds of things. So if, in fact, they cannot fly home on Starliner, they will be brought back down on later transports that have open seats. So they may end up being there for quite some time, but they are not in any danger. There's plenty of food and they'll get a ride back at some point. Hmm. Ah, see, I don't know about you, but this is the one reason I am not jumping in a rocket and flying into space somewhere. All of a sudden it's like, Hey, great flight getting up there. Enjoy your couple of days and we'll see when you get back. And then all of a sudden wake up, Houston's calling. What's going on? Yeah, we got problems with your ship there. It's leaking all kinds of thruster fuel to get you back. So we can helium. I mean, it's right. That's kind of what it's leaking. So look, this in and of itself was a test mission, a proven ground for Boeing. I would say that this is a bigger problem for Boeing in terms of its perception, Boeing has been given billions of dollars of taxpayer money to build this thing so it can work on contract for NASA to be the second of two commercial crew transports, the other one being SpaceX, which has been flying for years and doing it very well. And Boeing has had trouble with this the whole time. So this and of course, Boeing, you know, other parts of the Boeing corporation are having trouble with their 737 commercial aircraft. So none of this really looks good for Boeing, even though it this again is an essentially an experimental spacecraft that was being tested to find out what its problems would be. So so happens they're finding out what the problems are. With that, they have to decide, are these with an acceptable parameters where it can still be flown and be flown safe or not and deal with the ramifications of that? And then, of course, the review after the fact and to determine whether or not this can be fixed is Boeing not able to fulfill its grace here or what the next step would be. So we don't know how that's going to go. I would I would probably imagine at this point, there will be a delay in whatever that first operational flight for the Starliner was supposed to be. That wouldn't surprise me. I don't think they've announced any of those things yet delay yet. But I would imagine I would imagine Boeing's upper echelonor saying you got some explaining to do engineers get into the office. Let's talk about this. Evan, thank you so much. Evan Brown, our correspondent in Miami on what's happening with his Boeing Starliner. And yeah, he's right. The perception on Boeing is not good and it doesn't continue to look very good for them. But the officials say they have no reason to believe the capsule won't be able to return back to Earth here. It's just going to take a little bit more longer time. In the meantime, they've got a planned spacewalk today. So at least they get to get outside and enjoy it. I would be losing my ever loving mind and going claustrophobic crazy at this point.
