Dan rather welcome back Thank you, JT great be with you and all your listeners in Alabama It's gonna be a hot week in America and it's not only in the temperature but in the debate scene I'm just curious as to where you think this whole thing may go We'll talk about preparation and what they need to do and you know be aware of and to make themselves look the best, but you know First of all, I'm not sure that Joe Biden shows up I still think there's a small part of me that says At the last minute they're gonna pull him out. He's not feeling well and we're gonna have to reschedule or something This guy's not gonna have any teleprompters any no cards or sheets of paper Now they may slip a little microphone inside his ear to guide him along, but I don't know how he does this Yeah, he he'll show up. He'll show up and you know He does have some experience 40 plus years of experience and different debate arenas and Just as he did for the state of the union whether it was some influence Um in his blood or just his energy of being on the in the scene in the moment I think he'll show up. It's going to be a very telling because If he has a slip if he has a couple of slips, that's what we'll see on friday Or thursday night afterwards the focus will be on the biden mental Slips and you know for both sides both sides have to be careful of what we come away with from You know the four or five one liners or quips that make the news or the moments of pause. That's what's going to be the telling tale. Will that be more of a focus for viewers after the debate than the actual discussion of policy or will Policy still win out even though there's some gaps and memes Well, I hope that policy wins now, you know in my book to win some canada I talk about let's return american a public service away from politics because politics as we point our finger at the other sides They look how bad they are. They're awful. That's why you should vote for me And I'd rather see and I hope we see thursday night where a president trump or a president biden states focused on The issues that the american people have been saying. Hey, this is important. You know the economy Is is uh struggling for the common man in alabama or kansas where I live And the immigration is an issue and how we're doing it for an affairs And that's where donald trump. I think can can shine if he would focus on those things and stay away from Any, uh, you know outrageous comments about president biden. I think that would That would turn out better for president trump and if biden can keep himself where he stays focused on issues that he thinks his supporters Are interested in then we'll have better but both of these men are known for Not staying staying where they're supposed to be in their lane and we'll see what happens Well, and the reason I ask i mean, it's so easy. It's such low hanging fruit to be able to be in front of joe biden and his lack of cognitive skills and You know, but his policies are what are very troublesome to americans and I don't think they're buying the spin that the economy is Just wonderful and the borders safe and it's okay and don't panic and you know the instability in our Involvement in global war right now in a number of different fronts I think through all of this have we set the bar too low for joe biden With the other the cognitive issues that if in fact he does come through and only slips offs once or twice But maintains enough to go. Hey, you know what that was a win for joe biden Yeah, the positioning of this is Uh, very unique in that you you nailed it right there jt If if he can get away with uh, maybe one moment where he stumbled and people are going to say oh biden was strong On the on the other hand, you know, there's a group I call him bill bar voters who for president trump, you know He has his policies stand out and I wish he he would shine brighter if he would stay focused on those But the bill bar voters are those that maybe don't like donald trump in the white house yet They cannot stand another four years of the biden administration and particularly the people he surrounded himself with And how they are guiding the nation so if trump can secure here's a real key point If trump can secure those 15 to 20 percent that are still on defense, whether they're independence or republicans that once thought You know not not trump if he can do that he's going to win the day big and win the election But who knows what's going to happen thursday? We could come away with if biden stumbled Seriously, he might have to find himself in a position where he's being pushed From the sidelines to do that fireside chat in the white house and saying maybe it's time I recognize it's time for me to step aside Then we got a whole new potential race because they might nominate someone totally different at the Democratic national convention right how much of the crimes and the trials on both sides and their families Uh, we'll be a factor in in the debate on thursday It's I obviously it'll be brought up and that's you know, it's too bad that that happened for Either one of the gentlemen and their families and it'll be brought up again. I wish they would stick to the Stick to the issues at hand and the policies at hand I think the trump voters there it doesn't matter More to them now to some depending on how president trump responds You know a lot of things in life is not what you say But it's how you react or how you respond in a moment that people make a judgment and president trump I should find a way to with a little more strength and positive dignity to Say hey, let's focus on the matters of the country in a place We call home at hand and he would win better than than trying to talk about witch hunts or Yeah, crooked. Yeah americas can see through all of that stuff And I think you know this debate coming up thursday is probably going to be one of the most watched debates We've seen in a while.
