Welcome to July 6th on the National Day Calendar. Today we're rolling up some delicious treats and savoring a crispy classic. National Hand Roll Day celebrates the art of sushi hand rolls also known as tamaki. These are cone shaped sushi pieces, typically wrapped in seaweed and filled with rice, fish and vegetables. Did you know that hand rolls are actually meant to be eaten immediately after being made to enjoy the crispiness of the seaweed? Unlike traditional sushi, tamaki is easier to prepare and perfect for a quick delicious meal. Crispiness of seaweed. What? Sushi is amazing. I know it's not your jam, but you have to try it with me. I think you just haven't tried the right roll and the right sushi pieces. I have tried, and you know I've tried, I just, you're right, maybe, maybe it's just where I've gone. I mean, it's been okay, it's just not great like- Yeah, I gotta take you. From the delicate flavors of hand rolls, we move to the hearty and crispy delight of National Fried Chicken Day. Fried chicken has been a beloved dish in many cultures, but it truly took off in the United States, becoming a staple of comfort food. The concept of deep-fried chicken and fat was brought to America by Scottish immigrants, and it was later perfected in the Southern United States. Whether you like it spicy, extra crispy, or as smothered and gravy, fried chicken is a culinary icon. I love fried chicken with gravy. Oh my goodness. I know it's smothered, smothered is the right word for too smothered and gravy, but I like fried chicken with anything. Like it's one of those steeple dishes that is just, it's too delicious to not love. Yeah, some mashed potatoes and gravy, some corn on the cob. It's just- You're making me hungry. Let's go to lunch, okay? Okay, let's go. I'm with my Johnson. I'm Marlo Anderson. Thank you for joining us on our journey to celebrate every day.
