A message from the American Red Cross. Blood supplies are always running low in the summertime due to vacations and severe weather events. A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 units of blood. To keep up with demands, the Red Cross needs to collect about 29,000 units a day. All blood types are needed, especially O&B negative. There's a blood drive tomorrow at Boone & Cook Funeral Home in C770 Eden, 11 AM to 4 PM. All donors receive a $20 gift card, wellness check-up and t-shirt. It's been one year since the shooting death of Henry Hayes II, 28. Readsville Police Department detectives are continuing to investigate this homicide and bring justice to the family. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to contact police. They say even the smallest detail could be critical in helping them make an arrest. A $10,000 reward is being offered. Tips can be made anonymously through the Readsville PD app or by calling Crime Stoppers. Made in Police Department has posted a number of surveillance photos of individuals involved in recent crimes in the area and is asking for the public's help. When identifying them, that's on their Facebook page. A new state law of effective July 1 allows the NC Department of Motor Vehicles to collect up to 2% on transactions paid for with a credit or debit card. This applies to in-person, online and itself service kiosks. Numbers in the news, amusement park operators Cedar Fair and Six Flags Entertainment are finalizing a $2 billion merger. Today, we're donning our shades and slicing into a summer dessert favorite. Sunglasses Day celebrates this essential fashion accessory that also protects our eyes. The history of sunglasses date back to Roman times when emperors use primitive versions to protect their eyes from the sun. Today, sunglasses come in a multitude of styles, from aviators to wayfarers, and they're not just for sunny days. Sunglasses can protect their eyes from the wind, the dust, and the harsh glare of winter snow. So, let's put on our favorite pair of sunglasses and step out in style. You are styling today, by the way. Aren't these awesome? They are awesome. Where do I get those with all the jewels and wait a minute, wait a minute, no, no, no, I need something cool. That's true. The glasses that you have on with the chain around your neck, like, is that so you don't lose them? Like, what are you doing, dude? That is not a fashion statement right now. I just want you to know that. You know the other day it was tight with a geek day. I haven't taken my glasses off from that yet, so. Oh, I'm ready. From the Stylie School of Sunglasses, we move on to the cool sweetness of ice cream cake day. Combining tubal of desserts, ice cream, and cake, this treat is a staple at many summer time celebrations. Whether it's layers of vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake, or a more elaborate creation with multiple flavors and toppings, ice cream cake is a delightful way to beat the heat. So let's slice into a delicious ice cream cake and enjoy a sweet summer moment. Ice cream cake is my favorite. I've never heard of this actual cake being in it though. This is amazing to me. I've just only had ice cream in a cake shape. What? I know. Are you serious? I do not live a full life. You're the calendar guy, and you have not had ice cream cake? Well not with actual cake in it, you know. Grab your keys? Let's go. You're going to wear my car out at this rate. I'm telling you. I'm going to tell you all your jobs soon. I'm Marlo Anderson. Thank you for joining us on our journey to celebrate every day. And catch us over on Facebook and Instagram at Destination Celebration Show. Until next time, keep celebrating. Speaking of ice cream cake, let's see who's celebrating on our birthday club today. Whoop, here we go. And no, no, June 27th, birthdays? Nope, none here. Nobody told me about anyone celebrating. But I do have birthdays for the 20, let's see, 28th, 29th, yes. So I've got those for Friday and Saturday. You can still get in on that. Yes. Let me know who's celebrating for those days and the rest of June. And tomorrow I'll have our weekly giveaway. That will be all seven days of birthdays, June 23 through 29. And I'm also taking birthdays now for the entire month of July. I already got a bunch of those, but room for plenty more. Yep, no birthdays today. So we'll move along with big name birthdays, Toby Maguire, 49, Chloe Kardashian, 40, Drake Bell, 38, J.J. Abrams, 58, Chris Kristofferson, 88, today's music spotlight. Well, I woke up Sunday morning, with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt. And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert. And I fumbled through my closet for my clothes and found my cleanest dirty shirt. And I shaved my face and combed my hair and stumbled down the stairs to meet the day. I'd smoke my brain a night before I went, cigarettes and sounds that I'd been picking. But I lit my first and watched a small kid cussin' at a can that he was kicking. And I crossed the empty street and caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken. And it took me back to somethin' that I'd known somehow, somewhere along the way. On the Sunday morning sidewalls, wishin' love our stone, 'cause there's somethin' in a Sunday, makes a body feel alone, and there's nothin' sure to die. Half as long as the sun, on the sleep in the city sidewalks, Sunday morning coming down. In the park I saw a daddy where the laughin' little girl knew he was swingin'. And I stopped beside a Sunday school and listened to the song if they were singing. And I headed back for home and somewhere far away alone it bell was ringing. And it echoed through the canyons like the disappearing dreams of yesterday. On the Sunday morning sidewalls, wishin' love our stone, 'cause there's somethin' in a Sunday, makes a body feel alone, and there's nothin' sure to die. Half as long as the sun, on the sleep in the city sidewalks, Sunday morning coming down. Now today's motivational moment thanks to Livingstone Wealth Management, Raymond James in Madison, there's some people who always seem angry and continuously look for conflict. Walk away. The battle they are fighting is not with you, it is with themselves. That's today's program, and I want to thank you friends for listening. Have a wonderful Thursday. Be sure to count your blessings today. [BLANK_AUDIO]
