Elrod grew up in Georgia and began coaching and teaching in Rocky County in the mid-to 2000s, chemistry, physics, and earth science, and is completing a doctorate program at UNC Chapel Hill. He's won state championships in numerous sports and is a commentator for several national sports networks. Rockingham County Schools is asking for community input on the attributes, qualifications, and skillset necessary for their new principal at Rockingham County Middle School. There's a meeting tomorrow at six. Anyone attending should bring an electronic device to access some materials. Big announcement from Cone Health is being acquired by Rise and Health, pending regulatory approval. Rise It is a nonprofit charitable organization created last year, based in California. Cone Health was founded in 1953 as 150 locations, five hospitals, and 13,000 employees across the triad. Cone branding will not change. Last night, the state Senate approved a controversial "Summerfield D annexation" bill. It takes away the town's zoning authority over approximately 1,000 acres of land now heads to the house. A group of Summerfield residents opposing the bill are planning a rally this morning in front of the General Assembly. Operation Firecracker Boozett and Loozett campaign kicked off Monday and runs through July 7 with increased law enforcement efforts statewide to take impaired drivers off the road during the July 4th holiday.
