It's time for the Howie Car Show. >> America's future will be bigger, better, bolder, brighter, happier, stronger, freer, greater, and more united than ever before. >> Live from the Matthews Brothers Studios. >> The last time I was in a commission that felt like this was Obama 2008. There's something happening. >> My name is Sammy. They call me Sammy Sprinkler. >> Please to me you, Sammy. I'm Gus, Gus Buff. >> A remarkably long acceptance speech shake, and a remarkably dishonest acceptance speech. I counted at least 22 false claims from Donald Trump on first listen. >> Hey, what's up, babe? Yes, oh, yes. >> You're going snake house, man. You gotta resist. >> Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most bad ass things I've ever seen in my life. >> I raised my right arm, looked at the thousands and thousands of people, and started shouting, fight, fight, fight. >> [APPLAUSE] >> Let Trumpomania run wild, brother. Let Trumpomania rule again. Let Trumpomania make America great again. >> [APPLAUSE] >> Rump swabs, hacks, and moon bats beware. >> It's- >> I am a real American, fight for the rights of every man. >> Holy car. >> All right, it was pretty amazing speech last night. I don't think anybody's ever seen anything like that. I mean, a guy was shot five days earlier. He's still wearing the bandage on his head, a headshot, and he's there recounting it. And he says it's the only time he's ever gonna tell the story. He's got a rally in Michigan tomorrow, so we'll know whether or not that's true or not, or we're just hyperbole. But it was a remarkable story, and he's taken all this, not a lot of crap. But he's from the usual braying jackasses, the apparatics of the deep state that he made this into a photo op. He explained it perfectly, I think. He said that everybody just assumed he was dead, and they were shocked that he wanted to show him he was okay. And so that's why he came up with his raising his fist and the chanting fight, fight, fight. It made perfect sense to me. And then there've been some quibbles that went on too long. I couldn't tell you cuz I fell asleep after. I just wanted to hear the story, and after that I just was kind of drifting off. And I think a lot of people were, but again, it's the leads important in any part of life. It's the first impression that counts, and if it bleeds, it leads. And that's the old TV maxim, that was it last night. I didn't know that the ear bled more than other parts of the body. I didn't know that. Because I've never really had an ear bleeding very much. Except for what I was really carelessly shaving. But that's not very often, it was a great speech. And I thought he handled it well, and I'm not a big fan of Kid Rock or some of those, or even Hulk, I don't care about the, I like Tucker. But there was something for everybody last night. It was just a good night, I thought. >> You don't like Hulk Hogan? >> I'm not a big fan, I'm not a huge fan. I just, he's an entertainer, it's just not my kind of entertainment. I'm not big into professional wrestling, that's all. What do you want me to say? It's one of those things I covered in Winston Salem one time. I went to the local wrestling thing and I just went to the taping and they're just, they're just giving these guys scripts. Okay, this is for the Greenville market, and then they hand it to them. This is for the Charlotte market, this is, you know, I mean, not that, I didn't think it was on the level before then. But when you see the sausage being made, it's a little different. 508, can I just say Hulk Hogan was awesome? Yeah, I'm sure he was. I'm sure there've been a lot of good Super Bowl halftime shows over the years that were really awesome, but I'm just not into it. 844, 540, 242, another 508 says I'd be telling that story several times a day. I think he will be, actually, come on, yeah, he'll be telling it at least every once in a while, and I know everybody who sees him from now on, including myself, you know, the first thing you're going to say is I'm so, I'm so glad you survived and, you know, I'm just so happy and that you made it. And, you know, I'd always remember, and you probably will too, where you were when you heard, you know? I was at the playground with my, at the Honeywell School in Wellesley, Massachusetts with my two little grandkids, you know? And that's, that's just, I won't bore you with the whole story, but I just, I remember, I'll always remember it being there. All right, 844, 500, 42, 42, 844, 500, 42, 42. I want to just, I guess I should begin by saying, you know, my column was severely mishandlined today, saying it's time for Joe to go. That's exactly what I didn't say. I said it's time for Joe to stay, and I would like to repeat that. Joe, you owe it to 15 million voters. You cannot go anywhere. You should, Joe, we need you. If you have an online subscription to the Wall Street Journal, you have to check out the picture of, with the story with Joe Biden. It's about his, his travails. They, they got a Reuters photographer, takes a picture of him coming out of the kitchen into the, into the restaurant in, in Vegas on Wednesday. And he's, he's about six feet tall. But he's with a woman who probably owns the restaurant. And she's towering over him because he's so bent over. He, he, he's just, he, he looks, he looks like he's about, forget 81, he looks like he's 181 years old. I'll, I'll see if we can pull that picture off the, with the, if we can open that story and just send it out. It's, it's a Reuters photograph of Joe and he, he's going into this, it looks like a Mexican restaurant in Vegas. And of course, there's nobody there except his own people. It's a, in other words, it's a classic Joe Biden campaign op. Nobody's there. So, but you got to see it, how bad he looks. 844, 540, 242, 774, you may not be into wrestling, but many of us men love the hook. Okay. Do you know, if you like him, that's fine. You know, I'm not saying, I'm not saying, you know, he shouldn't have been out there. Everybody seemed to love him. 844, 500, 42, 42. I'm with you. I'm not a fan of Kid Rock or Hulk Hogan, but they were entertaining. I was more focused on Tucker Carlson. Did you notice that Tucker Carlson was, and someone pointed this out and he actually mentioned it. He was about the only one last night who went out there without a script on the teleprompter. He just, he just went out there and winged it. And he did a, he did a great job. He did a great job and he was, he was so happy. You know, I knew, I knew he would hear his trademark cackling as the night went on, but it, as the speech went on, but it just, he just came with it right out of the box. I guess, I guess originally they were gonna, he was supposed to introduce Trump, but they just kept jiggling it around the schedule. And I'm all for that. You know, I thought it was a great convention. You know, they had everything. Everybody was behaving themselves. There was no nastiness. 844, 500, 42, 774. Day number five, this is from Nantucket. Greetings from the beaches, replaced with mostly non-toxic wind turbine blade pieces. I felt sorry for those businesses today that were, they were mentioned in the stories and the papers saying that their summers were ruined and that they, you know, they have the places that, you know, send out boats, you know, whether they're looking for whales or, you know, sailing groups. All those, all those businesses are done. They, no one's, no one wants to go out in that stuff. No one wants to, no one wants to swim out there, forget the sharks, they just worried about getting hit, hit over the head. You know, by the way, where is, I just got a, I just got a text from somebody. They, they want to have somebody on. Where is, where is the congressman from the district? Bill Keating, has he said anything? You know, we know Marhely's a no-show on the thing. Where is, where is the congressman? I thought he was a big, I thought he was a big green energy type guy, green, green new scam deal. 844, 542, 42. Where is, where is Bill Keating on the Nantucket? This is kind of a disaster down there. Not just for the, and not just for the merchants on the South, South Shore of the island. How about for the whales? How about for the codfish? The Haddock. 844, 542, 42. You may have heard me talk about Raycon's Everyday Earbuds before and thought, wait, the same audio quality I expect from the big guys, but at half the price? (upbeat music) - Another huge story today is the problems with the Microsoft networks. And I don't understand what's going on. I'm just happy that Charlotte flew up from Dallas yesterday 'cause I think she would be stuck at the DFW airport with everybody else today. It's just a total disaster. I'm looking at the headline in the globe. How Aaron keystrokes at CrowdStrike led to a global outage of Microsoft networks. And it's a big mess. All the optional operations were canceled today at Mass General and I'm sure at other places. Banks were having problems and of course the commercial airlines. Joining us now, he's been with us before for these sorts of outages or problems is Dave Sampson from Thrive Cybersecurity. He is the Vice President of Risk and Cybersecurity. Dave, I know this is a very complicated story. We don't have a lot of time. Can you explain to us briefly what happened and what's going on now? Has service been restored? - So there's a couple pieces to this Howey and thanks for having me on. Last night or late yesterday, there were some issues that Microsoft had around their 365 services, which actually appeared to be completely segmented from this CrowdStrike issue. So it appears to everyone that this is a Windows issue and a Microsoft issue. And that's because there's a third party software called CrowdStrike, which is the leading or one of the top leading antivirus platforms. It's the current new generation antivirus platform. And it's very widely used, which we can tell today because of the number of systems that are down. But these antivirus platforms interface with your Windows operating system at the most sensitive and critical points. And when that update went out last night, an instruction was included that basically wasn't complete. And since it's not talking back and forth with the Windows operating system in an appropriate way, Windows is kind of saying I'm out. And that's why the blue screen that comes up that says recovery mode, all these systems are crashing. But the problem is that it's not like we can just send out another automated update and it's gonna be fixed because once the system is crashed, somebody has to manually go online with every individual Windows system, server, whatever it might be. And they have to make a manual change to get the thing back online. And that's why the recovery operation is taking longer than expected. And I just flew in from DC and debarched the boat a while ago, fortunately I was on time, but I have friends that are stranded all over the place today. - So when you went into the airport, I mean, are the blue screen still up or are they back? - Oh, the blue at the terminal at the airport, the digital display boards, half of them worked and half of them had the blue recovery screens on them. - So basically what you're telling me Dave Sampson from Thrive Cybersecurity is that the antivirus code created more of a problem than the virus. - It did, but the questions that we have, and there's a lot of folks that have putting thought into this today about exactly what the mechanics are of how this happened, the immediate questions that come to mind are how was this tested before the update went out? - You would think that when we make these changes, we kind of talked about this during the AT&T outage back in February, when people make changes to stuff, we got to test it before we send it out to the world. So that's a question mark, right? How is this code being tested before it's deployed? But the other thing, and the CDK outage that I know impacted you and auto dealerships all over the country for weeks, how do we continue to do business when these systems aren't available? But also, when you're running these big enterprise applications, whether it's Mass General Hospital or these other airline systems, whatever they might be, there's technologies and capabilities that exist to turn systems back on quickly. So we can basically have a copy of all the systems and we can say, you know what? This happened at 325 p.m. And we're gonna roll back to 315 and start everything up again and prevent it from happening or we probably need a little bit more time than that. - Was this grew up-- - There's the big things that are gonna come up. - Dave, was this grew up in the United States or was it offshore? - I don't know. I don't know where CrowdStrike is doing their development and where they're doing their quality assurance process. - So what happens next? - So there's gonna be a lot of, I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of data and information that's gonna come out about this. I mean, I guess on the positive side, on some level, it happened on Friday. Unfortunately, that means that tons of folks in the technology space are gonna be working all weekend to get systems back online because in many cases, somebody has to get physically in front of a system if they can't access it remotely. - I'll tell you, I'd rather be doing that than be stuck in the DFW airport or Logan airport. - So when I went through Reagan this morning, I had to kind of abandon the guy that was working with me because his flight was totally canceled with United. The place was full of people, wall to wall, full of news crews. And I was very fortunate that my flight with American into Barnstable was running on time and I was able to get home. But it's a disaster and people just, they don't know what to do because the phones are down, the website's not working. I mean, some of the impacts that I saw this morning was credit card processing, not going through. - Oh God. - I could use Apple Pay on my phone, right? But there's a lot of people that don't like to use Apple Pay on their phone. But I was glad I had it set up because it allowed me to pay for gas for the rental car this morning, it's a credit card. - Oh man, Dave Sampson, thank you so much for being with us from Thrive Cybersecurity. If people want to, do you have a website people can go to to read more about this? - Yeah, Thrive NextGen, thrivenextgen.com. And I really appreciate it how we thank you. - Thanks Dave, thanks for coming on with us. What a mess. AI, there won't be any problems. Don't worry, a Maui car. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - Live from the Matthews Brothers Studios. - Today's poll question is brought to you by Flip Lock. And especially for 25 bucks, half price. So go to howicarshow.com and click on store if you want to get them. Jared, what's the poll question? What are the results thus far? - Today's poll question, which you can vote in at howicarshow.com is after Biden got 15 million votes in primaries, what do you call what the Democrats are trying to do to him now? Assault on democracy, coup d'etat, insurrection, stab in the back or intervention. - I'm gonna use their new favorite word. All of them apply, I think, but I'm gonna use insurrection. - Insurrection is at 22% that's in second place. Assault on democracy in the lead at 30%. 20% for coup d'etat, 19% for stab in the back, 9% for intervention. - Well, they're all good answers, aren't they? And they're running very close together. All right, 844-542-42617. Our son is supposed to be flying in from Dallas today for his yearly visit home. His original flight was arriving at 3.30, then changed to seven, and now he says it's a minimum 9 p.m. landing time at Logan. Like I said, I'm just happy Charlotte came in yesterday. She wouldn't, she wouldn't be here. There's no question about it. It's, and the bigger the airport, the more of a hassle it is, and you don't get much bigger airports than DFW. So I'm glad she's home. I feel sorry for them. 844-540-781. Got my copy of Paper Boy from the contest. Thank you. We'll be doing another canton confidential in a week or so. And I got some information. I got some breaking information. I tweeted it out on one of the principal black hats, one of the principal villains. And check it out, and I'll be, I'll be filling you in a little bit later on, but you can read it now. And Turtle Boy just retweeted it out of his account. It's, it's pretty appalling. You're going to be, you're not going to be shocked. You're just going to be disgusted. So now it's time for Grace with the nose. - Yes, Howie. So we have some updates as far as people turning on Biden and people sticking with Biden. Chris Coons has come out on Twitter and he has said that he is still in support of Biden. And Hakim Jeffrey said this morning while he was doing an appearance in Brooklyn that he is still team Biden. - Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. That's, that's not what the earlier reports have been saying. Is it? - No, but now we're just getting mixed signals. It's like people are flip-flopping back and forth. - You know, I, when I hear, when I read more about Schumer visiting him, you know, driving. - He's at his home. - Vis, driving down. Although he was probably driven down. Do you remember that scene in the Godfather or Godfather two where Tom Hagen, the consigly area goes to visit Frankie five angels who's flipping on the family visits him in the prison and tells him to do the right thing. Remember that? - Yeah. - Did you, were you getting Frankie five angels? Tom Hagen vibes? - Yeah. - When you read about that? - I don't think whenever someone says, "Hey, the doorbell just rang. We think it's Chuck Schumer. He's here to talk to you." That that's a good sign for anyone in any circumstance. And certainly not this one. - No, I saw him once in the, the Washington airport then, and it was a chilling experience. - Well, now people are wondering if he's going to pass the torch to Kamala, but when I played the sound for you, how he during the crossover, AOC is saying that, and I actually wanna read her quote here because I want your reaction to this. There's been a lot of talks about these elites. Joe Biden has referred to these elites trying to push him out. AOC said, "A huge amount of the donor class and a huge amount of these elites that are pushing for President Biden to not be the nominee also are not interested in seeing the vice president being the nominee." I don't understand how they would do that. Like there's only so much time left. You're gonna push him out. You have to be okay with probably only getting a few things that you want. So if your goal is to push him out, inevitably you're going to have to accept the fact that the torch goes to Kamala. - You know, I know this is very serious business, but it would take a heart of stone not to laugh. They knew that she was totally unqualified when they picked her. And now they're saying, "Holy bleep, what are we gonna do? We have someone who's totally unqualified." - I will say, Fox had a live feed of her in D.C. at an ice cream stand. And that does send some sort of message to me. We know that's Joe Biden's gig, you know? That has been such a crucial part of his presidency is to go to these ice cream places to get the big softball-sized scoop. - When a presidency or anything has been a total disaster, you don't want to be reminded of it, do you? I mean, it's like, has any president ever worn a cardigan sweater and a national TV address since Jimmy Carter? I don't believe so. I don't think it's going to happen again either, ever. - Yeah, or get in the tanker. I know he wasn't the president, but he was running for president. - Yeah, no one will ever ride around in a tank again, especially with a helmet on, you know? My mother used to, she would give us a hard time sometimes and she would say to us, "I don't know what's wrong with you young people. "You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?" (laughing) - Now they're doing remixes of that with popular songs. - Yeah, well, we've got the-- ♪ You think you just fell out of a coconut tree ♪ - Well, I prefer the old Nelson version, that song. We played it yesterday. ♪ We got the lime in the coconut drink ♪ What a great song. Yeah. Well, here's another thing. Senator Schumer wanted to take Joe on a fishing trip. Biden's campaign chair. I don't know if you saw this. This was from this morning on morning Joe. I think her name is Jen, General Malley Dillon. She was on there and she said absolutely the president is in this race. You've heard him say that time and time again. He is the best person to take on Donald Trump. Then you had a need of done and she responded to a comment and said he's still in the race. And then you had Katie Tur today, Howie. This was pretty funny. She's she's doing like a live shot and she has to read the the latest release from the Biden team saying, Oh, you know, I'm excited to be back on the campaign trail on Monday. And she's reading it and she sounds so depressed reading it. See if that had come across here, I would be I would have been excited that you would have heard it in my voice. Well, I do think it's a weird thing if they're going to say, okay, he can't run. So make this make sense. We don't think he can run for president because he's lost his mind and it's not an option and he can't handle it. But he can finish out the rest of his term. Like, aren't we always being told by the Democrats how important the presidency is to the United States and to our democracy? So how are we going to make that one make sense? These are the same people who were telling us pre debate that he was better than ever, that he was leading those like keep coming back to this post-socratic dialogues. You know, I love that. And then he carries around thick leather bound books that he likes to read. Remember when Jill was being interviewed how he way back when I think it was by Drew Barrymore and she said, what, what are um, what's one of your pet peeves about Joe Biden? Like what's one of your pet peeves? And Jill said he keeps the reading lamp on too late at night. He falls asleep with his reading lamp on like we're supposed to believe that he's in bed just like pouring over these big thick books. Does anyone believe that city of God? Let me read it all. He likes to read city of God. Because he's a devout Catholic. I think we have this cut here. I want to just talk about this cut play cut 24 there. Look, it's impossible to ignore where this is going and exactly what started it. I'm not unaware of that. At the same time, I still believe that you don't know what you have until it's gone. And that there will be that feeling at some point when he leaves the race, you think the Democrats will regret it. I do. I do. Because among many reasons, which I've already stated and I won't say it again, don't worry, but none of these notions are backed by a strong alternative, an alternative that has beat Trump before, an alternative that is vetted, an alternative that is tested. I beg your pardon. That's a lot to throw away. We didn't get the part I wanted, which was, you know, he's a man of faith. Pardon me for laughing in your face, Mika. And I'll also, she said, you don't know what you've got till it's gone. There's another old song. I know you gave a paradise foot of a parking lot. Well, she really, I mean, she is a true believer. There, you know, there's a certain class of these Democrats. You could call them dead enders, but I really think they're just true believers. They worship at the altar of Joe Biden. And I think that this is, it's easier to be one of those people, Howie, than to be someone who's faking it. Like Mika Brzezinski is truly in awe of Joe Biden. Joy Behar is turned on by Joe Biden. These people think he is all that in a bag of potato chips. 203. Imagine if they'd picked Tulsi Gabbard instead of Kamala. I think Tulsi wasn't going to make it because she was a little too perceptive. Yeah, she was too normal. Yeah. And she, she knew what was going on. She didn't fall out of a coconut to me. They wanted, they wanted Kamala for all the reasons that she was just the opposite of Tulsi. But doesn't the first question have to be once they get Kamala at a podium? Doesn't the first question have to be? You told us over and over and over again that he was totally fine, that everything's going to be fine. And now just like that, you step in, what did you know and when did you know it? How long did you know this guy was in the class? And their answer is Grace's news is brought to you by TuxTrucks GMC, your Fisher plow, distributor in Hudson Mass, get the right Fisher plow for your half ton pickup, the Fisher EZV. It's too bad Joe couldn't say, listen, Kamala, you're not, it's not your time and just hand it over past the torch to Hunter. That would be something to Hunter, the smartest man he knows. See, I don't think, you know, when Joe Scarborough said yesterday that the people around them were trying to use this for their own financial gains, I don't think they were just talking about Hunter. I think a grifter con man, he tends to surround himself with con men. Just think about it. We can see it in local politics here in Massachusetts. And so I think, you know, Biden, a career flim flam man, has got his got other flim flam men, men around him. And women, don't forget Valerie, Blinken, and Sullivan and clean, Zintz, Rasky, he's dead now, but he was from Boston. I mean, these guys were all, you know, lining their pockets with, you know, with their, their closeness to the, to the, to the big guy. I, I take umbridge with the fact that you are forgetting about some of the ladies in his white house, Janet Yellen, Granholm, KJP. Don't leave them out of the mix. I don't, I just think they're kind of like coat holders though. I don't mean that in a sexist way. I just mean, I don't think they're, they're lining their pockets to this. I mean, Yellen has a million has, you know, she's a trust fund type. And KJP is just, I mean, she's just pitiful, pitiful. I don't disagree, sir. Howie, that is it for me. Have a wonderful Friday. Thank you, Grace. 844, 500, 42, 42. Precious metals are having a banner year. Gold is setting new session highs this morning as the price breaks the $2,400 threshold. You're listening to the Howie Car Show. 844-542-917 says, "I've seen two news reports so far using the phrase, the walls are closing and I'm biting. Oh, how the tables have turned." Yeah, I've seen those too. I love it. I love even more that seeing it in the chirons, the walls are closing in. Oh, no. The difference between now and when Trump was president and the walls were closing in is, now the walls really are closing in. There's really something wrong with Biden. 844-542-42. I tell you though, they can't help themselves. They keep Daniel Dale. He's been MIA for three and a half years because they're not going to ever fact check Biden. But he decided to fact check Trump's claims on world peace. Trump said, "The world was peaceful. There were no wars when I was president." You're not going to believe this one. This is Daniel Dale's fact check on the claims on world peace. Cut 27. This is false. Trump did not achieve world peace when he was president. Certainly wasn't at peace when he left office. There were active wars or armed conflicts in dozens of nations in 2020, a 51 by one research institutions count, and then 51 again in 2021. Trump handed President Biden ongoing civil wars in Yemen and Syria. Of course, an unresolved Israeli Palestinian conflict, Israeli Iranian conflict, a war on Ethiopia. I could go on for a while, but I don't have time because there were so many other false claims. Has there ever not been a war in Ethiopia or Yemen or Syria? You know, you want to be telling what the difference is between Yemen then and now? When Trump was president, I ran didn't have any money to give to the Houthis in Yemen. And the Houthis didn't have any money to buy rockets to fire into Tel Aviv and kill Israelis like they did this morning. And the LISP just makes it totally perfect. Daniel Dale's LISP. 844-542-42. So the the Trumps are egging Biden into staying in the fight. And I love this too. I love just the way they're enjoying it as much as you and I are. Cut 20. This is from Eric Trump. Cut 20. And if they go for this law, what do you think the impact will be on the party, on the Democratic party, just negative or positive? I think it drops out. I think it ruins his legacy and perpetuity. It validates everything that my father and all of us, frankly, and all of you on Breitbart have said what was true for the last four years, that the guy wasn't capable, that he wasn't competent. And frankly, it underpins her in a big way and that she shouldn't have allowed somebody who wasn't capable and competent to continue to be president. I mean, this is our country. This isn't a game. This isn't, you know, this matters. This matters. This United States of America. This is a great superpower in the world. And so either way, if he drops out, I think his legacy and perpetuity is destroyed. And we'll see what happens. His legacy, such as it is right now, the best he can hope for us to be were slightly worse than Jimmy Carter. If he drops out now, he becomes dementia Jimmy Carter. So it's true. What he says, eight, four, four, five hundred, forty two, forty two, we're running out of time for this hour. We'll take lots of lots of calls in the next hour. 508 says is the news tightening. Yes, it is. Have we seen any reports of Democrat, Congressmen and Senators seizing and pouncing? No, they're just, they're just making announcements with heavy hearts that it's time for him to step aside. I'm Howie Carter.
Howie opens the show talking about President Trumps speech from last night, then he discusses if Biden should leave or stay in the race.
