Those were your first threes in the NBA. Three of them. I feel good about the ball going down, huh? Yeah. Finally, man. Yeah. Well, that was great. And you know, this is a team in Brooklyn that's kind of patching things together. They got a lot of guys out, but your team came out and took care of business yet. You had to like that the way that it beat and the guys took care of business early in the game. Yeah, I'm energy been real high. So just going into the game, my energy was real high. So I kind of knew what type of game it was going to be today. You knew that you were going to kind of go back and forth with the Sixers Glee team. But the other day when the Sixers were getting ready for Sacramento, you kind of joint I remember the practice was underway. And then they were doing their stretching and you got right out there and started doing that karaoke. Yeah. That was, that was wild. Yeah. No, I had got there. Well, I got there the day before it right after our Glee game. Yeah. Absolutely right after Sacramento. Okay. But how's that been like a trance, you know, going all the way across the country and like that. And then here you are all the way back out East again here today. It's been, it's been good. You know, I'm getting used to like all the traveling and then like with the Glee and stuff. And you know, I'm just getting game reps and stuff. So when I get opportunities like this, I can, I can do what I can do. You'll be glad to know that Jeff had a big game and so did Mike Nance and a win today for the coach over the motor center. My dog, my dog, my dog. Yeah. How about Caleb, the guys are really having a good time. Martin was perfect in the first half. He looked really good, didn't he? Yes, sir. Yes, he did. And Yabu got everybody's attention with that jam. That was fun to see. Yeah, the big bear. Yeah. Well, you guys are going home. It's time for the six years to kind of, when you've turned the corner, this was a great road trip four and two, but to really make up some ground, particularly in Philadelphia, your thought there. You know, it feels good going back home when like having a good, a good product of road trip. So, you know, we just got a build off of this. And then what's it like for you to be wearing the Philadelphia 76ers uniforms, having grown up in Philadelphia? It means a lot to me, you know, growing up, watching, watching 76ers play fun fact. I've only been to one 76ers game my entire life, so to be a part of it and being able to travel with team means a lot to me. Oh, it's great. Well, we're happy for you, Justin. Congratulations and thanks for your time. Thank you. Justin Edwards of the sixers, he played 23 minutes, which is a career high. The pride of Imo Tepai school, he had 11 points and five rebounds as the sixers turned back the nets, 123 to 94. We'll have post game coverage in a moment. You're listening to the 76ers radio network. East of Philadelphia 76ers post game show presented by Parks Casino. Maxi Doubleton. Oh, baby, you love to be down the back down against whipping under powers by a pet slabs of the 76ers post game show right now on 97 five, the fanatic. Well, the sixers and what was in totality, a six game road trip that brought them from the West Coast back to the East Coast and to Brooklyn with a 123 94 win on this Saturday night over the Brooklyn Nets. They are coming home for games on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and five of their next six games, but a 29 point win over the shorthand nets on the road for their 14th of the season. They are 14 and 19. And this is our 76ers post game show presented by Parks Casino. We'll try for sixers head coach Nick Nurse and his post game thoughts. We'll also hear from Tom McGinnis as well. The nets were without both of their leading scorers named Cam, Cam Thomas and Cam Johnson. Then Simmons was a late scratch with a calf injury and four more players were out for this nets team that had actually just beaten the Milwaukee Bucks in their last game and they they won the season series against the the Bucks three to one. So they've had their number, but the sixers now lead this series to nothing despite Oubre not being back yet. Neither KJ Martin and Jared McCain remains out and definitely the largest lead was 31 in the game. The final margin ends up being 29 as the sixers take care of business. We'll have highlights later on and we'll talk with Tom, but not before we hear from the coach Nick Nurse. We got off to a little slow start coming all the way back on the trip, but once we got our legs under us, we obviously did a good job of creating shots and doing a good job. I thought we did a good job of contesting shots too. I mean, we were we were in and out of a bunch of defenses, but we were playing most of them pretty solidly and and pretty active, you know, hands, hands, lots of deflections. So just to, you know, again, they're severely underman, but we we went and did our job and did it did it for good stretches of the game. You went you went big with your starting lineup just as what kind of led to that and what did you like out of what you saw? Yeah, I mean, the biggest reason I probably went to that was I just wanted to get back to the Kyle and Reggie coming in together to spell Tyrese early, right, you know, that went on for a few games and kind of got jostled a little bit because of Kelly being out. So that was the big reason. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, I was just going to ask about the Kyle and Reggie pairing that you seem to like going to in the non-maxi minutes. I guess what about that pairing? Do you like? Yeah, I mean, I just I just felt like feel like it gave them a chance when we decided to do it four or five games ago. It gives them a chance to kind of work together as far as bringing the ball up and and, you know, one of them can seems like maybe there's one, you know, that doesn't maybe get as much pressure the other one doesn't or something so we can get the ball up and get into our stuff. They're pretty interchangeable. And then it also kind of shifts us into a like our first time we go to zone and and Kyle's pretty good. We play him in the back even though he's small but he's good at kind of direct and traffic from back there. So I don't know, I just just thought it was a good way of letting them play an extended stint rather than one of them goes in and things don't go well and it turns into a three or four minute stint and that's that's not any fun for either one of them. So it's just a chance for them to play a six, seven, eight minute stint together there in the first half and buy us some minutes. You went to Justin again a lot more this time, looked more comfortable, hit some shots. I guess what what stood out to you the most about Justin? Yeah, I was glad I you know, I was glad that we were able to do that because that's kind of kind of was the plan going in was to was to bring the three of those guys together but Caleb got off to such a hot start that I decided to let him run a little bit longer and then then let Justin go in for him. But again, I think we need that wing presence, you know, first and foremost just defensively and on the glass and it was really good to see him. He seems to get shots, I don't know how long that will last but I think it's just because he's kind of in the right place and ball finds him a little bit. So, you know, obviously making him, that's huge if he's going to do that but but again just the presence defensively and on the glass is kind of what we need. Nick, you guys finished four and two on this road trip. How will you evaluate this road trip and the biggest takeaway for you? Yeah, I mean, listen, I think going into the sixth game or you before the start of it, you probably would have been pretty happy with four and two. Obviously we we let one get away from us that we kind of had put away would have been five and one would have been really, really, really good but okay. I think that's I think that's two stretches of four and two, four and two and three and two so if we can go get Monday night it'll be three four and two stretches in a row so that's not bad. This was a season high assist game, third and one. You guys have been a pretty low assist team this year but is there anything you can carry forward from? Hopefully, I think again that listen, you know, always say you got to make the right play and guys that are guys are drawing two and then we got we got a few guys that are going to draw two and and when we do we got to get off it and make the right play and that should lead to some assists as long as we can make baskets on the end of those passes. Yep. You've talked about before wanting to see what it looks like with Joelle and Andre on the four. I think you went to it for I think 67 seconds. Yeah, yeah. Was that intentional? Did that just sort of happen? Is that something you're still you're still thinking about long term or is that? Yeah, listen, it just kind of happened because I think Joelle was going in for drum and then drum got fouled and wanted to get Joelle in without any more time passing so I decided to leave them and then then I kind of did want to see it a little bit. Probably could have let it go a little bit longer to be honest. Just what are you seeing from Joelle as he's putting together this probably is most consistent stretch of the season? Yeah, I mean I think I think the biggest thing that that I like is that he's driving the basketball. He's really hard to handle when he's driving the ball. He's getting deep in the paint. He's drawing fouls. That's that's probably the best thing and he's and he's still on how many threes he shot tonight but again he's got three. I'd probably like that to be a little higher. He's such a good three point shooter. Try to combine the deep drives with a little more threes and a few less mid-rangers. Yeah. All right, thanks everybody. Nick Nurse, the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers on our Parks Casino post game show. Matt Murphy now rejoined by Tom McGinnis after a 123-94 Sixers win over the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn. And Tom, we're three for our last three now with the post game mics to hear the reporter's questions. But what did you think about what Coach had to say? No, that was a great assessment. Like he said, you know, this is a team that was under man and injured in terms of Brooklyn and the Sixers took care of business and you love the camaraderie and the sharing of the ball. The season I 31 assists and beat looked really good. Eight of 16, two threes. As mentioned, 10 of 10 for the line, 10 rebounds, 12 rebounds, driving into the basket and, you know, clowny is not, or excuse me, Claxon is a big that maybe doesn't have the the girth or the weight but he's been a pretty good defender and certainly a big lob threat for them. But, you know, all in all, like you can only play who's in front of you and who's playing and the Sixers took care of business. And like Coach said, you know, four and two, getting to win at Boston, you know, you would love to have that Sacramento game back. But hopefully you learn from that game. So all in all things look good. You come away unscathed for the most part. You hope to get Kelly Ubray back maybe in the next week and find out a little bit more about KJ and, you know, just have everything that you would hope to. It's obviously going to be a while for Jared and it's just as I was trying to articulate during the game, like for him to be off to what was clearly, you know, the best rookie season and a tremendous contributor. Consider, you know, the 30 points he had against Brooklyn in this earlier matchup and the fact that he had several games at eight. What was it eight games in a row of 20 points? He's poised to be a really good NBA player and disrupted by this injury, but he will be back. But, you know, not in the short term. So all in all, I think the more that the Sixers are able to play together and be healthy, finish games, it's going to be okay. And they're turning the corner and they're, you know, they're getting getting back toward 500. So Ubray is still out. It was a new starting lineup and a big starting lineup. They've used 20 now, which is the most different starting lineups in the NBA. Now, MB'd and Yabusele have played in the starting lineup together before, but it was Ubray a couple of times instead of Caleb Martin earlier in the season. And the net started this game 11. Nothing. What happened with the start? Yeah, I was, I was surprised by that just they came out firing, right? I mean, they take 46 threes and Russell came right across center court line and let it fly. And then I believe here, Williams hit one of his four threes. That was a shocker. But I guess, you know, like part of it is, and I'm not sure exactly how coach nurse articulates this, but, you know, these guys have been around like you're going to, you know, they always use the phrase and football gets smacked in the mouth. You're going to be hit. These other teams are out there trying to win too. Like for the most part, let, you know, again, Brooklyn, that's, I guess, maybe that statement right there is a bit of a work in progress, but they did have their injuries tonight. But the point is like other teams are going to score and have their runs and you got to withstand it in any really tough, intense, big game. It happens all the time. But that was startling, I think, at the beginning. And yet quickly thereafter, it was tied and then the Sixers ended up leading by 14 in that first store in the early in the second quarter. So a big swing to withstand that early onslaught by them. That Murphy with Tom McGinnis after a 29 point Sixers win over the nets in Brooklyn here on our 76ers post game show, which is presented by Parks Casino. Now a home stretch where they have not played, they've only played 14 home games to this point. They'll play Monday, Wednesday, Friday, five of their next six are at home where Justin Edwards now on the Sixers said he only went to one game growing up in Philadelphia as a fan. He said that was during the New Orleans Noelle days was his only game as a fan. I was going to risk it saying you must have been really glued to the radio for many times. I was surprised he didn't when he said that to you didn't include the games he suited up there this season. Those count too. Yeah, right. His first couple of baskets were in a home game against the Clippers. His first couple NBA baskets, he makes his first three NBA threes tonight. And now the team comes home, which has to be nice to play five of the next six back in Philly. Yeah, for sure. And you know, yeah, it's good competition. I mean, Phoenix, like I said, they've lost three in a row. Their start was amazing, but that's going to be a tough game. Washington, you know, has they had a big win. They when they, you know, they got what's the kid from Virginia Malcolm Brogdon back, right? And they've got some talent, sergeous one Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month, I believe. So, you know, you got to take care of business. I think for the Sixers to be home and to be together and just getting toward as close as possible playing as well as they can at this stage of the season as the goal. Because if you do that, I think they're going to be in a position to win, you know, several games are going down to Orlando. They're still a little banged up. But we shall see, right? I mean, it's all good. You just, like Coach said, you're stringing together stretches of four to six, two out of three, like all that. If you can continue to do that. And then toward the end of the month, you got some really, you know, big games. You got some tough teams coming up. That 15 and seven Phoenix Suns team, their big three of Durant Booker and Beale is intact. As we speak, they're down double digits at Indiana, though, where they will be coming from. So that if they lose that, that would be a fourth straight loss. The Wizards are last in the East. That's after Phoenix at home. And then the Pelicans are last in the West right now. And that's after Washington. But it starts with the Phoenix Suns on Monday. Time they get the win in Brooklyn. Thanks for your time. And save travels finally back to Philly. All right. Enjoy that bill and all the women's game against you. I tried to get you to sneak that in. Thanks, Tom, because of the Tyrese Martin connection and Martin transferred to the men's team. Both UConn teams are coming to Villanova this coming week. So thank you. The I'm a proud season ticket holder, by the way, for the Villanova women's basketball team. And they're hosting the seventh ranked UConn Huskies on Sunday. And then the men's team, the Villanova men's team is hosting the UConn two-time reigning national champions on campus for the first time in years and not at the Wells Fargo Center. This coming Wednesday. But back to the NBA, the Sixers 123, the Brooklyn Nets 94. They get the win. They do take four of six on this road trip after dropping both ends of the back-to-back coming into this one at Sacramento and at Golden State. And then they get the win to close it out. This trip that started with the Christmas Day win in Boston, the win of the season, it came back to Philadelphia after that before going out to Salt Lake City. But again, a 29-point win. They're 14 and 19. The Nets are 13 and 22. And Bied had a game high 28 points and 12 rebounds. Didn't play in the fourth. And Bied had six assists as well. Second to Maxi's seven on the team. Paul George had six assists with his 17 points. Maxi had 18 points. Kayla Martin had 17 all in the first half. And the other double figure score was Philadelphia rookie and Philadelphia's own Justin Edwards with 11 points three for six from three off the bench. We'll hear some of the highlight calls as called by Tom McGinnis on the other side and we'll look a little bit further at the box score before wrapping things up. This is the 76ers post game show presented by Parks Casino. Elf Beauty is a tremendous success story. There's no denying that. Amazing eyes, lips and face products, a devoted and savvy customer base, and visionary leadership have all played an undeniable role. But Elf Beauty also credits their diverse board. It's all spelled out in the "Not So White" paper, which connects the dots between diverse corporate boards of directors and positive results. Created in collaboration with North Carolina A&T, it includes enlightening tidbits, such as companies that had boards with greater gender diversity, saw a 15 percent return on equity, and a 50 percent reduction in earnings risk over one year. That's not all. Women on boards correlate to better price-to-earnings ratios. And not surprisingly, more diverse boards are less likely to get hit with large-scale discrimination lawsuits. But perhaps the best argument of all is Elf Beauty's track record of 23 straight quarters of growth. And of course, their board is the model of corporate diversity. The paper is a fantastic read. Find it at elfbeauty.com/notsowhitepaper. You were listening to the Sixers' radio network presented by Jack Potts City Casino. The Philadelphia 76ers 123, the Brooklyn Nets 94. Welcome back to our Parks Casino Post Game Show. Matt Murphy here with you as the Sixers end a six-game road trip four and two. And they are now 14 and 19 on the season. We'll have our audio highlights in this segment and then a box score breakdown. I'll look around the NBA coming up in the last segment. But in this win for the Sixers, they were led by Joel Embiid, his 28 points, and 12 rebounds. Maxie had seven assists, which was a team high, plus his 18 points. 17 points each for Paul George and Caleb Martin. Justin Edwards had 11 Reggie Jackson with eight off the Sixers bench. Drummond with six. A dembona came on with six points again. We'll go through all this stuff. Team shooting totals after another break. But before we do that, let's hear how this game sounded as called by Tom again as the Sixers and the Nets in Brooklyn, the Sixers in white uniforms, the Nets in black uniforms. Kelly Oubre Jr. Still not back yet for the Sixers. Neither is KJ Martin. Jared McCain remains out. The Nets were without Cam Johnson, Cam Thomas, Ben Simmons and four others. Simmons was scratched with a left with left calf soreness about 15 minutes. He popped to go before tip off. He popped up on the injury report. So the Sixers would use a different starting lineup because Oubre had previously played along Yabu Salet and Embiid that front court pairing. But now it was Caleb Martin with them with Oubre out. Tyrese Maxie and Paul George, the other starters, their league most 20, 20 different starting lineup. D'Angelo Russell is a Brooklyn net again. He would only play the first half of this game before exiting with a shin contusion. He made the first three and then as part of an 11 0 start for the home Nets, Zaire Williams made the next one. Three bound down to Brooklyn. And the Nets with Keyon Johnson who's out of Tennessee on the right side, Maxie cuts him off over to the right perimeter. Williams for Gray and that's good. Quite a start for Brooklyn. They get a pair of three pointers and with that, the Nets leave six nothing. So Russell who made the first one only at five points only played 14 minutes in this game. Zaire Williams had a team high 19 points. He went four for six from three. The former Memphis Grizzlies lottery pick. That would be answered with threes from Paul George and Caleb Martin. Martin had nine points in the first quarter kept it going into the second around the time of the 11 six game. There was an MB technical foul. It's about four minutes in. He got tied up with Keyon Johnson and then bumped by Nick Clackston was kind of surprised or looked surprised that he was given a technical. So then he really flipped a switch and started dominating now tied at 15 as the Sixers fought all the way back into it. They went on a huge run to end this first quarter and beat at the forefront of it and look out in the lane, D'Angelo Russell dominated B with a jam went right by Russell. It beats showing more and more both fluidity on with the physical play running and then there the force in a big time slam zone. He had 15 points and seven rebounds in the first quarter as the Sixers closed it on a 29 eight run to lead 29 19. So after 11 early, the Nets were held to eight from that point on and they were down 10 on their home floor heading to the second quarter where Caleb Martin early on was able to reach double figures in impressive fashion. Kayla Martin, a drumming drumming to the left of a lane spin move gets by clowny clowny or scuba day run sharp recovers and blocks it. But here's Kayla Martin with two hanging firing shot up and good. What a play. Kayla Martin salvages a trip after drumming was rejected at a hanging fade away and Kayla Martin is four for four with 11. And he ended the first half seven for seven with 17 points. That would be his game total. He had that at halftime. He ends up playing 25 minutes again. This game was decided pretty early on in the second half. That was in a 40 27 game Martin's basket. He would miss one shot in the game seven for eight. It was his third three pointer attempted where he was two for three and he went one for three from the foul line. Now the big highlight of the game was Gershan Yabu Sele. It was kind of another poster for him who's been who's been racking them up since the Olympics. It was off a Paul George Steel and he Paul George drops it off for Yabu on Clackston in a timeout for Brooklyn. Paul George with another steel. He's got Kayla Martin in front. He trails with Yabu Sele and Gershan goes in and slams it. A blind Frenchman with a nice jam and a beautiful play by Paul George and he banging his judge and running in the Yabu. They had a sixes or having some fun in the borough. 60 to 43 that point later in the second quarter. The whole bench they were all banging on their chest and Bead was doing it because he was out on the floor. They were loving it. That would be Yabu Sele's only field goal of the game to make it 60 43 and the halftime lead was 64 47. The assist from Paul George who had six of them with his 17 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes. Again, 64 47 at halftime. D'Angelo Russell would not return from halftime on right shin contusion and early in the third and Bead and the Sixers making it look easy. The beat for three and that's good making it look easy and celebrate. Trust the higher of the crowd here and beat with 22 including five in a row. In 29 minutes on a 28.12 rebound six assists tonight and Bead shot eight for 16 two for three from three and a perfect 10 for 10 at the line 69 47 game later in the third maxi with nine in the quarter and Paul George with the assist again. George to maxi into the corner Tyrese for three and that's good. Maxi with his first trade. Geordie Fernandez not taking a timeout. The Sixers lead by 27 76 49 Sixers Maxi shot five of 12 two for six from three six for seven at the line 18.7 assists in his 32 minutes. He did play into the fourth quarter which the Sixers entered leading 91 66. Now Justin Edwards one season at Kentucky a Sixers rookie on a two way contract where he can play both for the Sixers and for the G leagues Delaware bluecoats on Monday he scored 30 in Delaware. He played in both NBA halves in this one and knocked down his first three the plural with the Sixers. He's looking to get the young guys going a little bit and he does exactly that with his second assist and Justin Edwards for three and for Justin that's his second three in the game. He made three out of six 11.5 rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench for Justin Edwards whose three point percentage in the G league has been climbing in recent games. It's it's closer to 50 than it is 40 overall on the season bluecoats at the same time tonight with a one 14 99 win over the Motor City crews Jeff Dout and junior and Pete Nance are the other two way contract players with Edwards Dout and had 36 Nance had 28 but at the NBA level Edwards and the Sixers with a 123 94 win in Brooklyn over the nets. The Sixers held the nets to 19 points in the first quarter 19 in the third quarter which was 27 19 in the third 91 66 going to the fourth and the final score of 123 94 to end the road trip their next game is well their next three are at home Monday Wednesday and Friday and it starts with the Phoenix Suns on Monday who are down middle of the fourth 107 98 at Indiana. If they do lose it would be their fourth straight loss. We will look at the team shooting totals pick out a stat of the game and look at a couple other NBA games as we go around the NBA on a nine game night as the Sixers tipped things off with a 29 point W. We'll do that after a quick break. The Sixers beat the nets 123 94 and you're listening to the parks casino post game show. Elf Beauty is a tremendous success story. All right we'll get to our game high leaders our stat of the game the team shooting totals a couple other items around the NBA nine games around the league after this 123 94 Sixers win in Brooklyn their 14th win of the season. We will get to those things we are just a few minutes past the top of the hour in our parks casino post game coverage so we'll pause quickly here 10 seconds for station identification along the 76ers radio network.
