A few weeks ago, after T.J. McConnell spun a memorable triple-double in a win over the New York Knicks, Brett Brown gave a shoutout to Rod Baker, one of the 76ers scouts who advocated for the team to sign McConnell in 2015 as an undrafted free agent.
On this February 23rd edition of The BroadCast, Sixers.com's Brian Seltzer talks to Baker about his early impressions of McConnell, and the success the determined point guard has achieved in the pros.
In the interview, Baker also discusses his North Philadelphia roots, playing for Roman Catholic, his days as a coach in the NCAA and for the Harlem Globetrotters, and what it's like to be an NBA scout.
