Now here are your hosts, Jess Root and Seth Cox. Hello Arizona Cardinals, fans, and welcome to the latest edition of the Rise Up Sea Red Podcast. It's our Cardinals Talk on the web. I'm your host, Jess Root from CardsWire.com, the USA Today NFL Wiresight, and rather than numbering these shows, because I'm recording a whole bunch of this, this is the opponent preview series where we take the 14 Cardinals' opponents and release, basically we try to do 14 shows in 14 days, and now I record them in lots of different orders, but this is the one that you will hear first, as the Cardinals face the Buffalo Bills on the road in week one, and so to kick off our opponent preview series, I have Bills Wire, managing editor Nick Woten, who, if you've been listening to the show long enough, four years ago when the Cardinals were set to take on the Bills in 2020, which we will remember the famous Hail Murray play, a wonderful, wonderful ending for us, sad, sad ending for the Bills, but the Bills have been, have much more happiness as they won four straight division titles and still are very much in the mix. Nick, thanks for coming on, how have you been? Good, yeah, I actually was just going down memory lane myself there. I was like, yeah, four years ago, that was the Hail Murray play with Hopkins, right, going up over Jordan Boyer and Micahye, who I know we're going to talk about plenty of changes, no longer with the Bills after a long time, but yeah, wow, you really, you brought me down memory lane there, so hopefully everyone listening. The Cardinals have not had a lot to be like, after 2021, fell apart, even though it went to the playoffs, 2022 was a disaster. Last year was a disaster, but was, was at least positive at the end, but let's look back at the, at the Bills 2023 season where they, they win another division title, it's their fourth straight year of winning the AFC East, their fifth straight playoff and sixth time in the last seven years. They went, they, they win 11 games, they have a top five off, they have a top five defense, though they have a top five offense in terms of yards, number six and scoring, they're top 10 defense in yards, but top four, top five is their fourth and scoring defense. They were very, very, very good and so tell me about what, what went well with the season and obviously that the problem everyone has in the AFC is that they eventually have to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs and no matter how many times the Bills beat the Chiefs in the regular season, Patrick Mahomes gets the best of everyone in the postseason. What was last year's experience for Bills fans? Yeah, I mean, I mean, you summed up not even just last year, well, but the last couple of years, well, the Bills will play the cubes pretty well and I think that, sorry if I'm wrong here, but I think I'm correct. I think it's a winning record against them in the regular season, but it's certainly not the case in the playoffs. They just keep running into that buzzsaw that is, you know, Mahomes and Andy Reid and everyone else over there, Travis Kelsey and yeah, that's just that the hump that the Bills can't seem to get over in the playoffs, but yeah, the regular season wins rather well for the Bills, the big thing going forward now is just all the changes because the defense has been sneaky good as you kind of were referencing there, Jesset, the defense has been sneaky good because you know, it's the NFL and the modern era now, the offense takes all the headlines and the game is almost set up for them to thrive. But even without von Miller, I mean, they haven't really had the best pass rush defensively with that secondary was really good last year once again. And yeah, it just, there's so many, so many changes and even in terms of, you know, the offense taking the headlines, Josh Allen has played extremely well in most cases. Still would like to see less turnovers from the guy, but with all the big plays he makes, you kind of, you know, you kind of take those, you take one with the other because, you know, he's going to do something amazing at some point and honestly, excuse me, potentially in the same game, same quarter, even then he's going to do something amazing and do something kind of boneheaded, if you will. But yeah, under the radar defense, that hopefully can continue and yeah, the offense was particularly interesting last season because, you know, of course, we're going to get to all the changes and especially Stefan Diggs again with the offense taking all the headlines. But, you know, he was, I don't want to say a non factor, but in the second half of last season, it was, it was really not the Stefan Diggs show for the bills. He had underwhelming second half of the season. And that's when they let James Cook cook as Josh Allen liked to say, although I will say this, that offense was primarily Josh Allen, was it not, I mean, 29 touchdown passes and a 15 rushing touchdowns. So he accounts himself for 43 touchdowns on the season, 44 touchdowns. And yes, he had the 18 interceptions. But when you're getting 44 total touchdowns, that's something that's more than, that's more than two to one touchdown to interception ratio. I know it's not just passing but combined touchdowns, but you can't, you can't discount, you can't discount the legs as well. How good, like, how good was Josh Allen last year? Oh, he's turned into easily top three, top two. I mean, my home, you can't take anything away from him. The guy, the record and Super Bowl speak for themselves, but, I mean, Allen really just puts the team in his back. And the word Justin Delora, one of my writers likes to throw out there is hero ball, that that's the only thing that really gets Allen in trouble. Other than that, I mean, the guy running the ball, I would not want to try to tackle Josh Allen ever in any case. It's kind of, it might be Derek Henry one and then Josh Allen number two, guys, I would not want to tackle ever in the NFL. Not, not take anything away from any other guys. I'm, I'm too old now and, and I'm not tackling anybody, but it's, uh, yeah, he is, uh, he's excellent. Um, really his, his, his throwing has come, come, uh, throughout the years, a lot better. I mean, he was a messy thrower of the ball in this first season. They made the playoffs as you kind of referenced, um, as a wild card against the Texans and ended up losing, but even since then, I mean, he's come leaps and bounds to throw around the NFL. Um, yeah, you combine that with, uh, with his ability to run the ball that, that 44 total touchdowns. And that's really the number you have to look at with Allen is the total touchdowns. Good, good amount of passing touchdowns. He gets the job done there, but, uh, the guy in there, and they're certainly not just, I just saw sharp football, like it's going to, this is going to be very big breakdown of it. And that's where it's, is above and beyond one yard touchdown runs, um, in the NFL, uh, Jalen hurts it like 24 or something in the last two years. Allen wasn't even in like the top 10. So he's not just barreling it in from the one yard line. This guy gets the ball and he just goes, nobody can tackle him. He's just an all-around athlete player. Um, you know, cliche, I think with him is, you know, it's like a linebacker playing quarterback because it is a guy is fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. The size that he is, he's fantastic. Um, and there, there is certainly reason to be confident that he can, he can still keep this bill's offense. I don't even want to say a float, but elite just with him alone. He's, he's that good. He turned that good of a quarterback and it's, it's crazy for myself to being, uh, a Buffalo native. I mean, we went almost two decades without playoff football. I mean, the best quarterback, it was maybe like Ryan Fitzpatrick in that time. Trent Edwards had like a good couple, like weeks, one year, um, because now I'm pulling names like, you know, out of my butt that are just guys, he didn't inherit it. Are you old and I will say this? Are you old enough to remember the nineties bills teams that the four people's in the row? Um, I'm, I'm turning 34 soon. So I, I don't have a bit of memory of it. My first sporting memory, you were a baby. That is, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Goodness here. My first sporting memory, I, I will say that I confidently remember is, uh, was the music city miracle and that was the end of the bills, actually, um, you know, making the playoffs and I didn't make it for a very long time. So I have a very strong memory of the playoffs that anything, but definitely like the Cardinals were always terrible. And so like the early nineties, uh, I do remember those super, because my, my, I turned, I'm 47. I turned 13 and 1990 and that's when I started really paying attention to the NFL. And so that bills run that those were my, those were my teenage years when they were just amazing. Yeah. James Cook last year did, did you foresee the type of season he had? Yeah. I'm, I'm going to be honest with you. I'm not going to go like an expert here. Absolutely not. Did not see that coming from him. I thought they really, really wanted to have a one, two puncture kind of deal. I mean, at one point, they had one or four net on the, uh, practice squad, um, the tavius Murray, um, I don't think he's officially hung them up, but, uh, you know, he's up there and age, uh, now, um, and a day mean Harris was the other guy. So it seemed like on paper, they really wanted to have a one, two punch there. And for whatever reason, I don't know if they just weren't confident in it, they ended up changing offensive coordinators in the middle of the year. They started with Ken Dorsey, who's not with the Browns, uh, Joe Brady got the full time job after he took over. I think he definitely Joe Brady, that is more like the smaller, quicker pass catching back because Ty Johnson, who had like a good two games with the Jets before the bills last season, he was kind of their king japay sky. And, uh, yeah, I thought all that said, uh, I thought it was going to be a one, two punch kind of thing going into the year, uh, for me wrong, for sure. Right. Over 1100 yards rushing and then another 404 cast for 405, 445 yards receiving six total touchdowns over 1500 yards from scrimmage. And then you add on top of that, you got Stefan Diggs over 1100 yards, Gabriel Davis has over 700. You guys had a lot of production from a lot of guys. Obviously the big numbers were Josh Allen, the big numbers were Josh James Cook, Stefan Diggs, but when you're getting over 700 yards from Gabe Davis, you've getting over 600 yards from two other guys in Kalushik here and, and, and Dalton can Kade. What like was, was there a disappointment in what they did offensively last year? Um, he's a little bit before the, the second half of the season stuff on did's really dropped off a cliff almost. And he, he, he was good, his good normal self and, and it might coincide with the change in offensive coordinator from Ken Dorsey to, to Joe Brady's, I mentioned, might coincide with that, but Diggs really, really dropped off. Um, it's still good, still good numbers, but I mean, before he was just couldn't, couldn't stop him. Um, it turned out you could stop him. Um, and, uh, you mentioned Gabe Davis, he, he, he is a little bit of a, I guess lightning rod as well. I'm looking for during his time with the bills. Now he's signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, they gave him a pretty decent payday. Um, so they're expecting big things out of him, but I think the bills were always looking for a little bit more out of him use kind of your prototypical go deep kind of guy. And if he didn't get that, you know, big catch in the game, his numbers really weren't pretty. Um, so there were things in there that, you know, maybe, you know, there could have been a little bit more towards the end of the season, it really turned into a spreading the ball around from, from Josh Allen and James Cook, um, taking it, taking, uh, the, the rains there, I guess under, under Joe Brady, but, uh, having said that, he bills are of course hoping that to make up for and even improve upon what they got in the second half of the season from, uh, digs and Davis, um, as hopefully already on the roster, because we're at that time of the year where if it's not on your roster, I don't know where you're getting it from. So. Defensively, defensively, you were led in sacks by Leonard Floyd of a little talk. He's, he's one of the departed, he had nine and a half on the interior from at all of her. Another fantastic year from him, uh, 54 total sacks as a team. What, what was the best part of the defense and did anything disappoint on that side of the ball? Um, I wouldn't say there was too much disappointment on other than injury related things. Um, you know, Micah Haydn went down. Tradevius White fan favorite went down, um, and then Bon Miller would really be the big one. I mean, the bills are spending a lot of their salary cap and a lot of their money on Bon Miller and he recorded zero sacks, unfortunately, but he did come back from a serious knee injury. Um, but there were some solid surprises. Uh, last season was, you mentioned at Oliver, um, interior guy, they drafted him to, I think everyone, you know, it takes the low hanging through and of, Hey, this is a defensive tackle who's not your big, you know, nose tackle. So hopefully it can be Aaron Donald and, you know, not everyone's Aaron Donald, but they, they use the high pick. I mean, nobody is really, but they use the high pick on at Oliver, uh, ten of them not mistaken eight or nine. It was, but, um, he's really turned last year for him ended up being that two years ago. Okay. We got something here. And then last year was, okay. Yeah, this guy's good. Uh, you know, he backed it up in, in that kind of second big season that he had, um, with Leonard Floyd gone bills are probably looking now towards drug Rousseau to hopefully, uh, you know, add a little bit more. The really huge surprise for the bills was, um, and also injury, I'll tie everything in here. Matt Milano ended up going down. Guy's one of the best linebackers probably in the league, that new age kind of smaller guy who can go around do a little bit of everything. You can see his game. He was a former safety at one point at Boston college and he can really take the ball away. And then Terro Bernard, the bills lost her main admins to the bears. He signed a huge contract and pre-agency last offseason. Terro Bernard was, was nowhere to be found on the bills after they took him out of Baylor, I think, special team or mostly. Not only that, he, the three preseason games last year, he did not play a single snap in the preseason. Then they finally, you know how it goes, they press the coach on. Okay. Who's starting? Who's starting? And they don't say anything until right before opening day. I mean, it's, Terro Bernard. It was kind of surprising. Then he turned out to be a tackle six and a half sacks. Five. Yeah. What? Yeah. Yeah. It was like, okay, with this guy who's on the roster the whole time, I guess they had something there. So, yeah, their defense was, was definitely just overall more, more positive than, than negative. But the injuries are really the big negative that you, you wish, you know, a couple of these guys stay, stay healthier and it might have turned out a little bit better for them. But, you know, we've said that a few times and we also mentioned the Chiefs. So kind of, kind of hard to, all you can do is help at this point kind of. Coming to next on the rise, I was here at podcast, but so our Cardinals talk on the weather. Let's move on and look at the off season, the bills that's, like, that's from changes. We're back on the risers here at podcast. This is our Cardinals talk on the web. Pre-agency in the draft. So they lose Gabe Davis. They lose Leonard Floyd. They lose Tyrell Dodson, who goes to the Seahawks. Floyd goes to the 49ers. They cut some of their guys in the secondary. Tardavius White's not there anymore. Ultimately, who are all your impact losses? Obviously, Stefan Diggs was traded to the Texans. I will say this. Do you feel that they got the lifespan that they could have gotten out of Stefan Diggs? What happened in Minnesota ended up happening in Buffalo, and now he is like your traditional stereotypical receiver when it comes to production and money? Yeah, he's not taking anything away from him in the second half of the season. The bills more than got their money for him in terms of giving up first-round pick form they traded, and that ended up being Justin Jefferson too. That comparison was always made, but the bills got their money's worth in that deal. The biggest impact of losing him just on the field, but off the field, he has a massive dead cap hit. That was the really more surprising part, almost locally from covering the team. His dead cap hit is massive, I want to say upwards of like 19 million or something like that. It really was one of those things where it's like, "Okay, they can't get rid of him until next season." He's not going anywhere. Then he did go somewhere. That was super surprising. It's clear impact because even if he's on the field, it's clear impact isn't just his production. It's okay, you've got to plan for that guy, no matter what. Now they don't have that really, so they definitely got to make up for that. Defensively, Jordan Poier has always been a bit overlooked, it felt like. In terms of departure specifically, Matt Milano as well, he's still there, but his loss by injury was big, but Jordan Poier's really been, he did it all for their secondary. He didn't get the biggest deal from the Dolphins, signed a one-year contract there. He's up there in age a bit too. Him and Mike Hyde were a duo for the Bills since 2017 when Sean McDermott was hired. I remember when both those guys got signed, it was whoever these guys, they turned into one of the best safety tannins in the league, so I would say if you want one from offense, I think the obvious one is Stefan Diggs with Jordan Poier. He would come up to the line. He'd screw me, he'd play great, takeaways, and then on top of that, once the injuries came about, Trevius White goes down, Mike Hyde goes down, he was really that veteran presence out there that now they certainly do not have now in the secondary. Who do you see is the guy that will replace Diggs as your primary? We'll talk draft in just a minute, but you added Kurtis Samuel, you added Marquez Valdez gently. There is nobody that looks like a number one receiver you can really keep on. Yeah, and having said that, I agree, it doesn't make for the best radio to get to agree, but I agree with that, but if I would give you a name, it would probably be none of those receivers and probably Dalton Kincaid, the second year tight end coming out, he really looked the part as a, especially as the year gradually went on, as the ball started to get spread around, when Diggs production went down, Kincaid really looks like that. Hopefully, good playmaking tight end as we've seen with the Chiefs, as we mentioned again. He looks like a guy that is definitely going to add to his numbers in a year or two, and on top of that, you've been farther back to, any Bills fans listening to this are going to hate me now, because not only have I mentioned the Chiefs, now I'll go back to the Patriots, who we've documented us for too long. Back in the day when the Patriots had their duo at a tight end with Bronc and Aaron Hernandez, I mean, those guys couldn't be stopped, and Dawson Cox, if he's your second tight end, he's a pretty solid number two tight end, really one A, one B almost. So I think those are the guys that you're probably going to be looking at more so, especially with, you know, right now, we're going to get to the graphic. He on Coleman, a young guy, it's going to take time. So I would go with Kincaid for sure, if you want to get one name. In terms of additions, you had Lael Collins, Mark Hasvalda Scantons mentioned, added Mike safety, former, former safety of the Chiefs, Austin Johnson defensive tackle actually was supposed to, was supposed to, I believe the Cardinals were going to sign him. And the bill stolen. You have a new backup quarterback in Mitch Trubisky, not that that's an impact sign at all. Does Edwards look like he's going to be a starter in on defense this year, replacing player? I think the between both of those guys between both those positions, excuse me, I think Taylor rap is surprisingly going to be a guy that gets some good playing time. Yeah, I think he's going to be a good in a good spot to more so take the other spot of Micahide, who Micahide isn't officially retired, but he's got a neck injury and it's been a while. And we haven't heard much. So I think he's probably gone to, but either going to be Edwards or Cole Bishop, the second on safety. And based on the bills, really wanting to rely on guys with that experience, Sean McDermott has always done that, I would give probably Edwards the early nod. And I wouldn't be surprised if we see maybe some three safety looks because they love their versatile players that one of their best defenders, another guy I mentioned under the radar, Taryn Johnson, he's their nickel defender, the bills really only play with two linebackers most of the time because Taryn Johnson can do everything out of the slot. So they like to get those extra defensive backs out there and I could see really all three of them. But yeah, I think the on paper early, you know, obviously we got to wait for training camp and whatnot, the preseason, but I would go with probably Edwards and though they, I will give the bills one thing, you know, as much as I like to take a little sarcastic knock at once in a while, as any bills fans listening, no, I like to do, they do make these players earn it. They're not going to hand anything to Keon Coleman. They're not going to hand anyone to Colby anything to Cole Bishop. Yeah, they make him earn it. So yeah, it's, it's, I think, I think it would be Edwards based on his veteran and veteran experience and, you know, having one in the past, the bills love, love those things too. And then who are you hoping is emerges? You mentioned Greg Rousseau. Do you think he's going to merge and be able to produce near the level of what's his name? Leonard Floyd did. Last year. I think that there's a, a realistic chance of that. Yeah, he, he, he flashed early and then kind of slowed down. So he kind of just has to keep the consistency going and that's a thing for him. And Greg Rousseau and AJ Epinecet too. Those are two guys who, Epinecet was their top pick, I think the year prior, but his second round that must have, maybe that was the big pick they traded away or whatnot anyways. But yeah, I think, I think Rousseau would probably be my pick, especially because offensively, you know, you got a lot of new additions. I am eager to see what Curtis Samuel does because he hasn't really had the, I guess, best track record of quarterbacks. Certainly not like Josh on, in his career, I don't think, but yeah, I would say Rousseau probably they're going to, I think, need to lean on him a bit more. And they do have that talent along the defensive line and another under the radar name veteran is Juan Jones, playing next at Alvarez, kind of that space eater guy. So he went down for a while last year, so maybe that affected Rousseau and yeah, I think that defensive line, hopefully on paper has some, has some enough talents there to help Rousseau out and have him emerge because it would be perfect time because I suspect it was fifth year option. So in the draft, you've already mentioned Keon Coleman, Florida State, incredibly athletic. I think he's faster than his 40 time shows like the guy was recruited to play basketball at Michigan State, which is a fantastic D1 program. Coleman reminds like in some ways he's a more athletic version, especially the way he plays. And part of it is just the way that he played the Florida State. But I see and Juan Bolden type potential in him. I know your bills like if you recall for about a week, but yeah, but how good do you think Coleman can be? Is there any concern with his the route tree that he used as college? I think that was the one thing in leading up to the draft that kind of turned me away or had that was said about him that kind of turned me away is that he did not have the variety of route tree as some of the other receivers coming into the pros coming into the draft. Yeah, I would I would second that too. But the bills I think have their roster kind of set up in a way where as a rookie, he can I don't want to say take his time learning that but take his time learning that a bit more because even though it's not, as you mentioned, the most threatening names on paper, you know, I like I said, I'm eager to see Curtis Samuel and see what he can do. But you know, he has experience, Valdez Scanling has experience, you know, if if these in case Claypool is there too, believe me, bills are just get seen if one of these guys come out. I can't stop at the wall. Let's go. So they really are right now, yeah, yeah, so they got a couple veteran guys who can do a thing or two. I think Khalil Shakir is a guy too that a lot of players are a lot of players, a lot of people are looking forward to seeing what he can do as well because I believe that this one is correct too. He's the only guy on the bills rosters caught a regular season pass from Josh Allen in terms of receivers. Obviously Kinkade and Knox, but he's he might be leaned on a bit too. They got a lot of guys who can kind of play in the middle and outside and I think of Coleman and at least to make sure he masters is like you said, that athletic ability is is freaky from what I'm going to be playing for time is a with Michigan State while also playing basketball like you're doing something right in the gym and you know, you know, athletics. So I think I think if he can at least rely on that a little bit as a rookie while he's learning things, I think it can come along. But I'm not my expectations of rookie aren't super high because I think you see it so often in the NFL where it's it's rare that these guys come out in their first year, especially receivers and are amazing because it happened. Yeah, of course, but I think it might take Coleman a little bit of time. But everyone seems to like him during, excuse me, mini camp, not training camp yet. We still got a few weeks to breathe here. I didn't want to scare scare scare you over there. Yeah, we'll see though. We'll see. I'm a little, I'm a little, you know, I'm going to pump the brakes on him a little bit, but they're good. They're good report so far and good report so far on him. Yeah. Keon Coleman, Cole Bishop, you've mentioned both of them. Those are their two picks in the second round. Dwayne Carter, defensive tackle out of Duke, Ray Davis, Kentucky, running back. Ray Davis under Ray did in my opinion. I think he's going to be, I think he can be productive. Cedric Van Pran, lineman out of Georgia, Eduafon, Olufosio. I think I said that, uh, Olu, out of, Olu, out of Washington in the fifth round, Jeff on Sullivan, Troy, defensive end, uh, Tylen Graybell, offensive lineman, central Florida, Daquan Hardy, cornerback out of Penn State and then Travis Clayton. Those guys from the round three and on do any of those figure to have any sort of role this year? I would definitely say Ray Davis running back. The, the Bill's just don't have that, they, they, I think they're going to, you know, ride, cook, let cook, cook, um, but they, they need, you need to change a pace back. You need a short yard of the guy, um, and I think maybe his numbers might not pop off, but I think that's probably where he'll thrive is, uh, making an impact there. Um, Carter do anything. Like he, he is well-versed in all facets of the game, pass block and pass coaching. He can do all of it. That's one of the things that was really nice about coming him coming out of college. Exactly. I think he'll get good opportunities in that area and, uh, yeah, yeah, um, they do, um, Ty Johnson, I, I mentioned him before that, you know, Brady really likes the guy. So he's very interesting whenever I think of the running back room, but, uh, you know, they, as you know, I don't have to tell you that, that investment of a draft pick always weighs on a player. So I think Ray Davis is definitely going to be a guy there and they, you could see from Carter too, because of the bills other than, which is not going to be of surprise other than, uh, at Oliver, he probably plays around 75 to 80% of the snaps, but he doesn't even go 100%. They love rotating their defensive lineman. He'll get out there, but, um, but yeah, I'm, I'm, it's the easy, really, the easy pick here is, is Davis, the, the running back is he'll definitely, cause the depth is really isn't there too. They, they've tried to get guys in there, but I already mentioned Damian Harris Leonard for not the tavies, Murray, they're, they're trying to get another guy in there with James Cook and they really want one. So he has an opportunity for sure coming up next to the risers here podcast, Mr. Carter's talking about now look ahead to the 2024 season. What are the coping expectations? What do they see from the Cardinals together game against the Cardinals? That's coming up next to rise. If he read, you've heard of pizza hut $7 deal lovers menu, right? The Cardinals and Bill's opened the season in week one in Buffalo and Orchard Park there at High Mark Stadium, but what are expectations for this team in 2024? The AFC East challenging. They've won the last four years, but the dolphins are up and coming. There's a little bit of hope in New England. What would be reasonable expectations out of this team this season? I would say with all the changes, reasonably, I think playoffs again, should be the reasonable expectation. Four straight years of AFC titles was huge. They could definitely do it, but last year they didn't win it until the last game of the season because they played the Dolphins in week 18, almost at week 17, but in that final game it came down to that. So, it's close. It is close. He's getting close, and then on top of all that too, Aaron Rodgers is, I guess he's going to show up eventually to the Jets, right? It's like he should be there. It's a super hard card there because if they're guys, if Rodgers is healthy, if Mike Williams stays healthy, if Tyrant Smith stays healthy, they could be a really good team. You might be looking at three legitimate playoff push teams. Then the Patriots. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And the Patriots. Yeah. Yeah. And the only year that the Bills under Sean McDermott have it made the playoffs. I think they started three or four quarterbacks, which is just crazy. I think it was maybe Allen's second year or something, first year. Everyone kept getting hurt, and you know, when that happens, when he gets onto your third quarterback, you know, that hit the back up. I'm not even super confident and Mitch Trabisky coming in at any point this year, but either you know, you can get you through a game, you know, start a game, but no, like the drop off the drop if it's too steep from a guy like Josh Allen to any other quarterback. Of course. Yeah. Especially at an offense where so much of the offense of success is on Josh Allen's shoulders. Yeah. Yeah. And all the changes, like you don't have this veteran receiver anymore to lean on. Yeah. You don't have a lot James Cook, you know, that's pretty much it. That's the only guy, other guy probably have confidence right now leaning on. But yeah. Yeah. I think reasonable because the Bills have done so well cracking the playoffs under McDermott in most of these years. If you got Josh Allen, that's reasonable. And you know, even, you know, Brady and the Patriots and win the AFCs every year. So we're, when we're throwing the word reasonable out there, I would say this should definitely be a playoff team. Do you think that this team has enough, like as a ceiling to get to and win the Super Bowl? I have. That is, I would say that got to be at least a year away because even next offseason, they're going to. They're going to. I mean, look, we've talked about the receiver depth chart enough that alone. I think they just need guys a little bit more seasoning. It would be shot. I think the one way that they could is if they were just astronomically healthy somehow. This is the NFL, though, so that rarely happens. Guys are going to get hurt. So unless that happens, I would not put many, if any, of my eggs in that basket for 2024. But you never know, you never know Josh Allen is very good. But, you know, the Chiefs, they are the Chiefs, the Bengals, the borough should be back. You know, we got some guys in the AFC here and the Marjax. No, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not disappointing myself even more here. I can't be doubting. I said no to start and I'm even less confident that they started talking. And they have a top early schedule, like you obviously they start at the Cardinals at home. That's, that's probably the easiest one of that there. Then the next four out of the next five are on the road. And those road games are Miami, Baltimore, Houston, and the Jets all expect to be, all like their expectations to be in the playoffs. And then you play the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, a team that, you know, they want. Beat the bills last year. Yeah. And so that that's going to be like worst case scenario. How do you see this season, like what would be a worst case scenario? Not we're talking major injury, but like that's just disappointment. What do you think the floor for this team is in terms of just disappointment? Yeah, I think not making the playoffs would be a big disappointment. Or so towards the front office because they rightfully so have gotten their praises, you know, going after Allen, they, they moved up for him in the draft once upon a time. They made a lot of correct decisions, but the floor, I mean, I think reasonably just with those teams that you named right there, I mean, it's, it's a, it's a tough schedule. It's a tough, they got to get some wins early. I don't think you can really rely on because they did it last year too that they, they six and six before they run their final five games of the year and that's like, you don't want to have to do that because yeah, you don't want to have to do that and to do that in the NFL two years in a row. I mean, it's hard enough to beat that you're, you're, when you're sweep your divisional games, right? Every single year. So to do something like that, every single year, I think they got to, they got to stay afloat after that five, six, seven game point of the season because there's just, there's a lot of challenging rosters that they got to face with a roster that's kind of unknown. And then how do you, and how do the bills view that season opener against the Cardinals? How is that viewed on their schedule? Is it a, all right, we've got one work. We've got a, you've already penciled that in as a win. How challenging do you view that game? Yeah, I always, when I do my game, I gain predictions of the posts that we do, you know, there's always a game or two that I throw in there that's, you know, maybe they should win that they lose. But I think the bill should win this game. I think that's how that, that's viewed not, you know, it's the first game this season. Who the hell is going to say it's a must win? But if this is a serious team that they're okay, we're going to be okay. It's not going to be, you know, the wheels haven't all fall off, excuse me. You got to win that game. I think you got to, not a must win, but should win that game if you're, if you're serious because right after that is you said it's like, all right, buckle up. Let's see what happens. So, yeah, I think it's viewed as a should win type of game, especially because it's at home. That's another thing. And then there's a whole moment. Like I always, like in my betting, in the stuff that I write about for betting projections, I always give a team in their home opener a little extra juice because it's the first game in front of your home crowd in months. Yeah. So I expect that game, I expect the bills game to be one of those likely losses. Like, I don't consider it a no chance game, but it's close to a no chance game, a legitimate contender in the AFC on the road. It's an early start for, you know, because it's a 10 AM Arizona start. So those are challenging though. It's about as good a time of year as you could get it because then we have to go, the Cardinals really benefited from their schedule because they don't have it, like their East Coast games, they don't have, they don't have snow to worry about really. And so that's, yeah, that's good. That's, that's, that's a positive. I think the bills got lucky with their games against the, the dolphins, fun, not mistaken. I looked at the schedule on a bit, but a lot of the times I get the dolphins where it's like, oh, the second week of the season, it's still 95 degrees in Miami and that opposing sidelines right in the sun and doesn't do the bills any favors. But yeah, I think the bills got some decent weather. But you know, we're, I'm not going to talk crazy and say that we're decent weather like that. Like it's not in Buffalo, New York, you know, I know, I know, our far is maybe a little bit different. Yeah. That's, that is true.
