"Hi there, we're back to normal and catching up on a few stories from over Christmas. Later, Rebel Wilson gets married to her wife again. First though, gonna mark the death of former US President and queer ally Jimmy Carter at the age of 100. During his stint in office between 1977 and 1981, he set up a meeting at the White House with LGBTQ+ rights activists, the first of its kind there, plus Carter worked to prevent a ban on queer people from being schoolteachers in California. Nine years ago, he said this to Huff Post about same-sex marriage. "That's no problem with me. You know, everybody should have a right to get married, regardless of their sex. I believe that Jesus would approve of gay marriage. I think Jesus would encourage any kind of love affair if it was honest and sincere and was not damaging to anyone else. And I don't see that gay marriage damaging to anyone else." Carter also spoke out against the "don't ask, don't tell" rule that kept LGBTQ+ members of the armed forces in the closet. A man accused of running a queer travel agency in Russia has died in custody. Andre Kotov was thought to be up on charges of organizing extremist activity and participating in it for running a queer travel agency. The non-existent, international LGBT movement is designated by Russia as extremist. The 48-year-old claimed he was tortured with a stun gun during his arrest. And rebel Wilson's gotten married to her wife? Again. The actor, Andrew Mona Agruma, had a wedding ceremony in Sardinia last September, but same-sex unions aren't actually a thing there yet. They've now had their marriage legalized in Sydney. It was officiated by rebel sister, Liberty.
