It's currently 11.24 on Thursday, January 2, just a couple hours ago, the heat finished their game against the Pacers, they got absolutely blown out start to finish. And of course in Jimmy Butler's post game press conference, he made some comments that made it seem that he no longer wanted to be in Miami. But here we are, where I'm just going to say it's an official trade request, that's exactly what this is, as about 10 minutes ago, Shamsirania and Brian Windhorse put out a joint article for ESPN, basically saying sources. Jimmy Butler indicates that he wants a trade. This news broke while I was streaming live on the basements, just 10 minutes ago, but I wanted to come here and give y'all a full video and instant reaction to really my first time reading this article. And then we'll look at the post game stuff from today and just kind of talk about what the hell happened, but really this is just my instant reaction to the Jimmy Butler news. I was going to say I haven't had a lot of time to really process this, to even understand if this is real or if it's going to change or who the hell knows, but I should have expected this, because this has really been coming to a head for the last month and probably a lot longer behind the scenes. In this shams and Brian Windhorse article, he says six time all star Jimmy Butler has indicated to the Miami heat that he wants the team to trade him league sources tell ESPN, Butler does not plan to furnish the heat with a list of favorite destinations. Sources told ESPN, he's open to playing anywhere other than Miami. Wow, and feels he can turn any team into a contender, no matter where he's moved. That, that's wild. Wow. That lets you know that he, he generally hates this team. I guess I don't think he hates his teammates. You know, the coach, you know, Spoh, I'm unsure at this point. There was some other comments he made today with regards to his role on the team currently that I'm really unsure now how he feels about Spoh. But anyways, he says he does not, he does plan to take part in all team activities and will plan to do whatever the heat ask of him during the process. Heat officials did not immediately return to the messages Thursday night. And then I did skim through the rest of this article already and it's basically just is basically just talking about the game today and his other post game quotes, which, which we'll get into. So yeah, if that's not an official trade request, I don't know what the hell is. Let's pop back to Twitter here. Let's see if anything new happened. Heat clips, man. They trying to make me cry off rip here. What a fun player to watch, man. And it's a damn shame that it had to end like this. It's a damn, damn shame. God, not now, Miami Heat. Yeah, that's facts. Admin posting this and ignoring what's going on as they posted a Khalilware graphic. Yes, Khalilware was awesome today, but you got to know what the replies are going to be at this point. We also have another quote here that says an issue that led to Butler's decision was an implication from team officials Thursday that he hadn't played his hardest in the heats of victory Wednesday over the pelicans. Playing in his first game in 13 days after being away with an illness. Heat co-chair exposure does not play Butler in the fourth quarter of either game this week. Oh yeah, Jimmy is mad. Oh my God, he's mad. We've got a Barry Jackson thing here. Barry said, "I'm telling you, if you have to take back bad money, get no first in the deal, the Heat is better off not playing him if he's uncooperative. They could work out personal reasons as absence and get flexibility next summer with two large exceptions. The Heat wouldn't get the full 50 million that he's owed because they still are open or they still are above that first apron. But I believe it's in the high 30 million dollars that Jimmy Butler, or the high 30 million dollars that the Heat will be opening in cap space. And that will kind of be our flexibility next season. But yeah, all these other tweets are basically just the same thing here. I already bookmarked a couple from today's post game that I kind of want to get into. This of course here is from Alex Toledo, who in the part that I want to actually note here, where's the comment here? It's coaching, but I know who's -- oh, this is bam, it abiles comments. I want to actually skip forwards here. He had another one. Here we go. So this is Jimmy Butler on -- that's not it. This here is Jimmy Butler on his focus. He said, "I felt great. I felt like I was focused. I feel like I did my job or at least what my job is now." And on his new role, he said, "It can be my role here. That's not what I'm used to being. I haven't been since my first or second year in the league where I'm just playing defense. I competed. I guarded. I didn't let my man score." I just -- I don't understand. That's -- that's -- that's a guy who's gone. If you ever played pick a basketball and you lost the game and you said, "Oh, well, at least I did my job," that's -- that means you don't like your team. And I don't know how it got to this point. Like, he's talking about his role. So this is why I'm questioning if he's really frustrated with Spolstra. Like, what -- what does he mean? His role? Why does the Spolstra have him off ball? When did this come about? I just feel like this is so random that he's now complaining about his role on the team. I feel like before this, it was more so frustration with Pat Riley's comments in his past off season. It was his frustration with the Heat failing to add another star around him, but now this talk of his role, that's just new to me. I don't understand where that came from. And then if you do want to get to Bam's quotes here, Bam said, "On Jimmy," this is what he said, "On Jimmy, we lose the game. Obviously, he's frustrated and feels like he's standing in the corner. For us, keep the main thing to main thing. Like, our coach always tells us." And then this is Bam on how Jimmy's comments affect the team. Bam says, "How is she going to deal with it? You go out there and play basketball still. We have to figure out how to win games and push through." And on what they can do about Jimmy's role, he said, "I mean, it's going to take time. That's one thing. It's a coaching thing, but I know Spol will figure it out." And if this is the first time he's ever heard Jimmy indicating once out, I'm sure all the players have heard things. Bam said, "Yeah, you hear all the outside noise and we block it out as a team because at the end of the day, we still got to go out and play basketball and win games. We got to let Jimmy Spol and Pat handle that." I don't know what to say about the role thing today. And then you look at this picture. This is, you know, Dunk Central posted this courtesy of McDaniel's burner V2. Everyone's standing up except Jimmy. I just, I don't know. I look at this and I say, "That's not a role thing. He could still stand and support his teammates." And I know there was other times today where he was clapping and stuff and I don't want to just make a big deal about a screenshot. I hate when people do that because it's a screenshot. It's not the video, but it's not a good look. I mean, when you can see every single player standing from Old Ass Kevin Love who doesn't play anymore to, you know, Hayward Highsmith as A.S. Stevens, they're all standing. They're watching Khalilra go off and Jimmy looks dejected. I don't know how to feel about that. I don't want to really play the blame game right now on either him or the front office, but here's what Spol said on Jimmy Butler's role. He said, "That's not it." Here's what Spol said. Spol said, "Got to get him activated, put the ball in his hands even if it requires him playing point guard." So, yeah, yeah. Get Jimmy involved. You weren't before. I don't understand. Here's Tyler's reaction to basically Jimmy's comments. After the game, Jimmy said he feels that the way he's been cast and used on this team, he can't beat his best self and that he might be able to find, regain his joy playing here for someone in the locker room. We've been with him for such a long ride now in your six years. What's your reaction when someone says something like that in the post-game interview? You surprised me then? Not really. What did you just say? We're all trying to find joy at the same time. What do you think could change to get him more involved in the offense, to get you more involved in the offense? No clue. I'm not the coverage. We're trying to get him involved. Have you felt that in the locker room? What are you just talking about? Post-game where I could enjoy the feeling like it wasn't involved in the offense? I feel like the vibe is great. I feel great to me. I'm glad that I enjoyed my night. We discussed this on the base when post came a little bit. A few of the guys didn't like Tyler's answer because he basically said, "I don't care what's going on with Jimmy. I'm happy." And a few of the other guys defended Tyler and said he was basically blindsided by this question. And then other guys responded to that saying, "How could he be blindsided? He knows that Jimmy has been talking for a while. But truthfully, I see every angle of this. This is a very difficult spot for Tyler Hero to answer. He is put on the spot right after a game with these questions. He probably didn't even hear the actual Jimmy Butler quote or seeing his body language and having him answer questions about that. I don't think it's exactly fair. Now, sure, his answers could have been better. He could have said, "Jimmy's my guy. I'm here for him if he needs anything." But that's all talking in hindsight. I don't really want to judge Tyler's answers based off this because he didn't really say anything. He said, "I don't know." Which is better than him just saying something and it being the wrong thing. He said, "I don't know because he didn't see it yet." And I personally think that's a fair answer enough. And he just confirms that he's happy here, which I guess is nice to know. And then here's basically the whole Jimmy Butler quote from today that really got this all started. How you felt about your performance and focus tonight? Oh, great. I was focused. I thought I did my job or what at least my job is now. What do you say what your job is now? We're swimming that used to see you standing in the corner for extended periods like that. Is that a change in the team approach that has cast you that way and for you to be your best version of yourself? Can that be your role and you thrive to the best of your ability? It can be my role here. I mean, that's not what I'm used to being. I haven't been there since, I don't know, my first second third year in the league. Or I just want to do it for the defense. I already tried not to let my game score, but that's what I'm doing now. Well, Coach was in here saying he wants to get you more of the point and get you more activated. So, is that something that you're amenable to? And is that something that might be necessary to get you back closer to the top of your game and your form? Then I ain't going to fix it. Jerry, why do you feel like you're rolling the offense to change and what has been the toughest adjustment to that change? It's not a tough adjustment to me. I'm going to have to make a beat to win, either way. Whether I scored 9 points or 20, 9 points, I will compete. That's what they're going to say. So, you want to say that I'm out there not quite hard. It may look like that because my usage is down and I'm shooting ball a lot. But we won't see it. I'll put it on. What will fix it? What do you want to see happen to fix it? What do I want to see happen? I want to see me get my tour back from playing basketball. And wherever that may be, we'll find out here pretty soon. But I want to get my tour back. I'm happy here. Off the court. But I want to be back to someone down there and I want to hope. I want to help you see mine right now. I'm going to do it. Can you get your tour back here on the court? Probably not. All right. Thank you very much. Yeah. So, that's kind of what we started this video talking about. I mean, the Shams one report, we'll call that an official trade request. But to me, this is it. That's as official as a trade request. You can get, can you get your tour back here? Probably not. He said, I'm happy here. Off the court. I just, I got so many questions as to what the hell happened. What is he mad about? Because we talked about it a little earlier. He said he was mad about the Pat Riley comments and not getting help. But now he's talking about his role. And even in this whole two minutes here, he's talking about how he tries hard. He's just, his role is playing defense. He's relegated to standing in the corner now. He doesn't have the ball in his hands. Efficiency's up, but his shot selections are down like, just to share a little bit of my thoughts on all that. It's like, who's, who's fault is that? Because, okay, we can blame SPO for, I guess, not giving Jimmy opportunities to be himself. But at the end of the day, it's Jimmy's the star player. You want the ball, go get the ball. And just from watching these games over the last several seasons, you can tell there is games where it's not SPO. It looks like Jimmy just doesn't want to care. He has these games where he just quite frankly plays lackadaisical. And I always was okay with it because you got playoff Jimmy at the end of the day. And as a rising star whose body takes a lot of beatings and bruises every game due to his play style, I was cool with, you know, some of the lackadaisical efforts because he needed to conserve his body. That was just the reality of it. So hearing these quotes from Jimmy Butler, I'm just really confused now because I don't think he's a liar. I do think he's a guy that competes, but I don't see any excuse for his play in the nine points today, nine points last game. I don't, I know he didn't play in the fourth quarter, this game or last game, that could be a SPO decision for sure. But I'm just completely out of loss for words now on what exactly happened over the last, who knows how long at this point. I posted a video a couple weeks ago, basically saying who side I'm on. Of course, this whole Jimmy Butler conversation has led to a big discourse online and in person of really two sides of heat fans. The side that backs the front office and the side that backs Jimmy Butler. And you can check out my video from a couple weeks ago because I really went in depth on that but basically I think that both sides can be to blame for this just to kind of recap it real quick because Pat Riley and the front office. I say Pat Riley, I'm talking about the whole front office. Their job is to build a contender and this team has failed to win a championship. Therefore, they have failed this, this build and that's just the reality of it. Now, at the same time, if Jimmy Butler would have played harder in the last few years in every game that he played, if he would have, if he didn't ask for Kyle Lowry, I do put blame on Jimmy Butler for that. You know, there's some things that you can put blame on Jimmy. But at the end of the day, if all the front office got it, Jimmy is Kyle Lowry, that's not good enough. They failed to achieve the ultimate goal and as fun as this Jimmy era was with Heat Nation and as much relative successes they've had compared to other organizations, they failed to achieve the ultimate goal. That's just the reality of it. And it's the front office who builds this team, so therefore I'll put the most blame on them. But I don't know, Jimmy also hasn't been the most available guy and that's kind of what I think started all this in the off season when Pat said I didn't want to pay Jimmy because of the availability stuff. And then Jimmy comes into this season and he misses 30% of the game, so I don't know. Yeah, people are going to start posting this video of Jimmy versus the Bucks and that's just going to make me quite literally feel sick. I don't even want to watch that right now. Yeah, we got all other kind of stuff here. Yeah, Heat Nation or Heatverse Hater says feels like the Heat will deal him for a good package or son him away from the team until the off season. Yeah, I don't know. There'll be a whole bunch of tweets and stuff that come out over the next. Here we got a Jimmy and Curry Photoshop. Yeah, I don't know. No hard feelings towards Jimmy, although like I said, I do think he's the blame for some of this, although not majority of it. Wherever he does end up, you know, if he ends up somewhere else, I suppose there's an off chance he thinks can work out the heat and they stay together. Who the hell knows what's going on behind the scenes? Maybe I'm just wishful thinking, but at the end of the day, I'm always a Heat fan first. I root for the heat over anyone, but I do wish Jimmy the most success. I think he's a great person. I think he's a great guy and he's brought me so many truly countless amazing memories and great times as a Heat fan. And he took this team out of mediocrity and made them fun to watch. So, I don't know. We'll be doing a ton more about this. I don't want to talk for an hour here because I certainly could. This is just my instant reaction, so we'll see what comes out later.
