I'm a troll, holy role, I'm a troll, holy role, I'm a troll, holy role, I'm a troll, holy role, holy role, holy role, I have three heads and I have three hats, I have three chins, and I have three hats, I have six eyes, and I have six ears, when I cry, I cry six tears. The full troll likes Dravenganza, with the best selection of music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Big help, yes, sit back and chill out with the full troll every Saturday night with the best musical memories. Big help. Big help in the night, keeping the nights alive, more power. Big help. This is Big help keeping the night alive, when you're hearing things, when you're hearing things. I let a song go out of my heart. Big help, yes, sit back and chill out with the full troll. Only Prince your Royal ruler with full troll, big help, radio, international. You don't need me to say it, Phil, you said it yourself. Hello there, this is Phil T here, once again, with my special show for Saturday night. It's the extravaganza, we've got about 12 advance requests tonight and a beat the intro competition, so I do hope you're going to stay tuned for the next two hours. Big help in the night, keeping the nights alive, more power. Alright, so there we are, let me see, let's do the competition in first, you can hear my clock in the background, just ignore that. Contact Big L Radio now, phone. Oh, 1-255-808-113. Email studio@biglradio.co.uk So, that's, oops, my microphone's going a bit funny. Yeah, that was the competition today, let's play it one more time. Contact Big L Radio now, phone. Oh, 1-255-808-113. Email studio@biglradio.co.uk So, it's great to be back here on Big L 1, and the first, oh, excuse me, I'll keep sneezing, sorry about this. Yeah, I've got a slight cold again, yeah, our first request then. 1954. And we'll play that for you in a sec. It's a little tune, and this one's called Pretend, and it's Nat King Cole. Pretend you're happy when you're blue. It isn't very hard to do. And you'll find happiness without a man in you. Whenever you pretend, remember anyone can dream. And nothing's bad as it may seem. The little things you haven't got could be a lot if you pretend. You'll find a love you can share. One you can call all your own. Just close your eyes, she'll be there. You'll never be alone. And if you sing this melody, you'll be pretending just like me. The world is mine, it can be yours, my friend. So why don't you pretend? Oh, what a lovely song. And of course we've heard quite a lot of times during the pacemakers. But I think probably this one was the original from Nat King Cole. Totally different from the up-market version with during the pacemakers, which is also great of course. So it's filthy here, out for the next couple of hours. I do hope you're going to stay with me. I've got music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. We do the show every Saturday between 8pm and 10pm. And we are repeated on Big L1 on Thursdays from 1am until 3am. And we're also on Listen again as well. Okay, well that first record wasn't actually a request. It was just in the playlist. But the second record coming up is for John over there in Hammersmith. Hello, I'm Eric here. I'm right here to join me here on Big L International, every Saturday night at 10 for two hours of rock and roll from the 50s and 60s, plus some vintage Motown and so on. We call it rock and roll Saturday, bringing back the golden years of rock and roll. Join me Saturday's at 10pm here on Big L International. Come on and have a good time roll. (SINGING) The hockey show, Saturday and Sunday mornings, from 6am until 8am. Isn't that a bit early? No. With the music. You don't hear anywhere else anymore. Thank God. It was the first online 60s radio show anywhere in the UK. And now the live version has come to Big L. My generation from 8 to 10am every Sunday morning on Big L International, with back to fronts, hits, these sides and rarities and hopefully your interaction. That's my generation every Sunday morning with yours truly Gary Jackson, 8 till 10am. And don't hope to do, they. It's my generation. From 8 to 10 it's Phil Joel on Big L International. Yes, it is indeed. And we've got a little record for John Overdale in Hammersmith now. This is Scott Walker with a little tune called Jackie. (MUSIC) 1967. (MUSIC) And if one day I should become a singer with a Spanish bum, who sings for women of great virtue, I'd sing to them with a guitar. I borrowed from a coffee bar, well what you don't know doesn't hurt you. My name would be Antonio, and all my fructures I would burn. And when I gave them Sunday now, I'd expect something in return. I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about the remedy with some old grandma, who might be decked out like a Christmas tree. And don't think elephants, I'd see you know I'd be drunk as I could be still I would sing my song to me about the time they called me Jackie. And if I could be for only an hour, if I could be for an hour every day, if I could be for just one little hour, a chute chute in a stupid ass way. And if I joined the social world, became procured of young girls, then I would have my own Baudelos. My record would be number one, and I'd sell records by the town all sung by many other fellows. My name would be Asmjack, and I'd sell Potsamobium, whiskey that came from Twickenham, off any queers, and found any virgins. If I had thanks on every finger, finger in every country, and all the country's ruled by me, I'd still know where I'd want to be. Locked up inside my opium, then surrounded by some gentleman, I'd sing the song that I sang, then about the time they called me Jackie. If I could be for only an hour, if I could be for an hour every day, if I could be for just one little hour, a chute chute in a stupid ass way. Now tell me wouldn't it be nice, not if one day in paradise, I'd sing for all the ladies up there. And they would sing along with me, if we'd be so happy there to be, 'cause down below is really nowhere. And if my name were to the fire, then I would know where I was going, and then I would become all-knowing. My beard's so very long and lonely. If I became deaf, dumb and blind, because I did it all mankind and broke my heart to make things right, I'd know that every single night, when my angelic work was through, the angels and the devil too, would sing my childhood song to me about the time they called me Jackie. If I could be for only an hour, if I could be for an hour every day, if I could be for just one little hour, a chute chute in a stupid ass way. - Especially for John and Hammersmith. - Saturday evenings with Phil Scholl. - Yes, that's me. And, well, I've really been looking forward to getting back on the air tonight, playing all the hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. We do it 24 hours a day here on Big L1, so if you enjoy what you're listening to, tell a friend and get them to tune in as well. Let's do that competition again then. We want to know the name of the song and who it's by. - Contact Big L Radio now. - Phone. - Oh, one, two, five, five. - Eight, oh, eight, one, one, three. - E-mail. - Studio@biglradio.co.uk. - We'll be able to take some requests in the second hour of the show, but we've got quite a few more advanced ones to get through first. - Phil Scholl is now broadcasting live on Big L Radio. - Notify your local law enforcement authority right away. - So, let's play this next record in memory of Anna Mandrak. It was one of her favorite records, and John has requested it tonight, so don't cry for me, Argentina, by Julie Covington. - 1976! - It won't be easy. You'll think it's strange. When I try to explain how I feel that I still need your love after all that I've done. You won't believe me. All you'll see is a girl you once knew, although she's dressed up to the night. At sixes and sevens with you. I had to let it happen. I had to change. Couldn't stay all my life down at heel. Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun. So I chose freedom. Running around, trying everything new, but nothing impressed me at all. I never expected it to. Don't cry for me, Argentina. The truth is, I've never left you. All through my wild days, my mad existence. I kept my promise, don't keep your distance. And as for fortune and as for fame, I never invited them in. Though it seemed to the world, they were all I desired. They are illusions. They're not the solutions they promised to be. The answer was here all the time. I love you and hope you love me. Don't cry for me, Argentina. Don't cry for me, Argentina. The truth is, I've never left you. All through my wild days, my mad existence. I kept my promise, don't keep your distance. Have I said too much? There's nothing more I can think of to say to you. But all you have to do is look at me to know that every word is true. So that was Julie Coventon in memory of Anna who actually originated from Argentina. So that was especially for John and all their friends. And yeah, very sad situation there. But I've got another record for you in a moment, John. So, oh no, I haven't actually. No, I've played two. My brain's gone tonight. Let's do the competition. And so far we've got David and Trina in Brackley. We've got Anita in Epsom. We've got Ron in Doledge. Charles with Bev and Rochelle in London. And yes, you've all got it right. I wish we could wed, but we are too young, but one day I know, wedding bells will be wrong. For you and for me, we promise to be so faithful and true. I love you. Oh, yes, I love you. Now it's getting later, now we must part, but before I go, I will leave you my heart. So, don't share it here. I'll always be near, I'll hold you so tight, and I'll kiss you. Now kiss you, good night. Oh, yes, I'll kiss you, good night. When I go away, don't ever let your heart go astray, 'cause my love's so true, is only for you. So, remember your mind, you were mine all the time, when the sun takes the place of the moon in the sky. We'll go on a journey, you and I, to a far distant blend, where our dreams were planned, in the clouds up above. We will make love. Oh, yes, we will make love. Oh, yes, we will make love. That's Donovan, of course, with his electrical bananas. I reckon they must have drove him bananas. Talking about bananas, here's a little trick that I used to play on a few people when I was a kitty. If you get a banana and you get a very, very thin needle, make sure it's clean, of course. Then you stick it in the banana a couple of times, spaced an inch apart, and wiggle it around a little bit. Then you say to somebody, "Well, I've got a special type of bananas." They say, "Well, what do you mean?" I say, "Well, there's sliced bananas, especially arranged." And of course they say, "Oh, don't be daft." Because they pill the banana, it all falls to pieces in slices, and they just say, "Wow!" So there we are, that was a little trick I used to play on quite a few people, and they was taken in by, I must admit. Laurie Driver and Nick Richards also got it right and so did Patricia over there in Munich. [Music] And as the same Margaret got it right, third time round. Peter W in Chesterfield also got it and so did Tom in Berlin, one of our new listeners, well new to me anyway. So welcome along Tom, I hope you're going to stay with us for another show. I'll be back of course on Monday with the Motown request show, so if you like Motown, it's on between 9pm and 10. So Otto in the Czech Republic also got it right as well. So quite a lot of competition entries tonight, it wasn't too difficult, was it, that's the main thing. Let's play it to Q Park then, from the small faces. [Music] That's what it was. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] So that was the competition song today. [Music] The small faces and Ichi Koopa. [Music] Well as you know Michael Jackson made a record and this is the reply to the record that he made from Lydia Murdoch. It's called Superstar and it's all about Billie Jean. [Music] Of course well never know whether she was or not the daughter of Michael Jackson. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] So that was all about Billie Jean telling the truth allegedly. We'll never know will we? So less than a minute left so I've got to say goodbye very quickly. I'll be back Monday, 9pm and 2pm at a Motown request so fill at bigel.co.uk. If you want to get it in touch with me after the show don't use the studio one because I'll log out of that in a minute. [Music] Okay so I'm out of here to make way four. Mike Mywick's rock 'n' roll set away. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
