I'm a troll, holy roll. I'm a troll, holy roll. I'm a troll, holy roll. I'm a troll, holy roll, holy roll. I have three heads and I have three hats. I have three chins, and I have three cats. I have six eyes, and I have six ears. When I cry, I cry six tears. The full troll looks drab-a-ganza. The best selection of music from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Big help! Yes, sit back and chill out with full troll every Saturday night with the best musical memories. Big girl. Big girl in the night, keeping the nights alive. More power, big help! This is Big L, keeping the nights alive. When you're hearing things with your dear ringblings. Music time. I let a song go out of my heart. Big help! It's just like another dusty dish. Hey, this is Tony Prince, your royal ruler with full troll, arm, big help, radio, international. Well, you don't need me to say it, Phil, you said it yourself. Hello, this is Phil Teeth. Thanks very much, Paul Voss for the last hour and Danny for the hour before that. So, I'm here for the next couple of hours. We're here every Saturday from 8pm until 10pm, repeated Thursdays, 1am until 3pm. And we're on listen again as well. We've got to beat the intro competition, and we've got about 14 advance requests. So, we'll be able to take some more requests in the second hour. So, just about got all that in before the end of the music there, didn't I? So, yes, you'll be able to get some requests in the second hour, if you haven't already sent in the advance once. So, what have we got then? The beat the intro competition, if you've not done this one before. Well, all you have to do is just guess the name of the song and who it's by, no prizes. But we will let you know who's got the right answers. And of course, we'll give the answer 10 minutes before we go off the air. So, if you are all sitting comfortably, as a listen, while the mother used to say from my childhood, my very early young days, when I was watching the BBC, I think there was only two channels on the air in those days, BBC and ITV. And that was it, there was no one, two and three and all that business. So, yeah, let's do then the competition. Do you know what this is? Let's play it again. Contact Big L Radio now. Phone. Oh, one, two, five, five, eight, oh, eight, oh, eight, one, one, three, e-mail. Studio@biglradio.co.uk So, that's the competition, not too difficult, is it? This is film showing. Big L. So, we've got our first request. Let's say hi to Ken Race over there in Hadley, hi to you Ken, and also you Margaret. We've got one for you starting off, Ken, and this is Let There Be Drums by Sandy Nelson. OK, here they go. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Yes, OK, right. I've just been checking the e-mails. So far, we've got Anita in Epsom with the correct answer. You were first in tonight, Anita, very quickly, thank you. Frank Wiskin, our very own Frank. Yes, you've got it right as well, and Ron in Dalich, yes, you've got it right as well. So, that's great. We've got three correct entries so far, and I think I've got a few more to check in a moment. But we'll play it again just in case you missed it at the beginning of the show. Do you know what this is? [Music] Contact Big L Radio now. Phone. [Music] [Music] And we'll be back after these with the request for Margaret Race, my cousin. Hello, I'm Mike Murray here. I invite you to join me here on Big L International every Saturday night at 10 for two hours of rock and roll from the 50s and 60s plus some vintage motor and so we call it rock and roll Saturday, bringing back the golden years of rock and roll. Join me Saturday at 10 here on Big L International. [Music] It was the first online 60s radio show anywhere in the UK, and now the live version has come to Big L. My generation from 8 to 10 a.m. every Sunday morning on Big L International, with back to France, hits, these sides and rearities, and hopefully your interaction. That's my generation every Sunday morning with yours truly Gary Jackson, 8 till 10 a.m. and don't hop to do they. It's my generation. Yes, well he always does a great show. Well done Gary. [Music] Let's have our second request then. This is for cousin Margaret over there in Hadley. It's Il Salenzio by Nina Rosso. [Music] And I know Ken likes this one as well, so enjoy it both of you. Nice bit of trumpet playing. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Yes. [Music] Have you quite finished? Oh dear, sorry about that. Yeah, a bit of a false ending there. Golden Odie. Golden Odie of course, well they're all Golden Odies here on Big L1. We play them from 1950, right up until the end of 1989. [Music] So we've got a few more emails that have come in. So far we've got an Easter in Epsom, Frank, our very own Frank. We've got to run in Delage, we've got to Charles in once did, and we've got to Claire in Nottingham. Yes, and you've all got an absolutely right. Well done. So here's the next request then. This is Gladys Knight and the Pips, especially for Cousin Margaret. [Music] 1973 for this one. [Music] Ooh, ooh, what's left of his way? The world he left behind, but not so long ago. He's leaving, leaving. Oh man, since I've trained, Georgia. Yeah, said he's going back to a simple place of time. Oh yes, he is. Now I'll be with him. Oh, that's when I've trained, Georgia. [Music] But he's so found out the hard way that streams don't always come true. So we find out his home. [Music] Yeah, said he's going back to find. Oh, a simple place of time. Oh, yes, he's gonna be with him. Oh, that's when I've trained, Georgia. [Music] Yo, said he's going back to find. Oh, a simple place of time. Oh yes, he's gonna be with him. Oh, that's when I've trained, Georgia. [Music] [Music] So, that was our first request for cousin Margaret there. Midnight trained to Georgia, that is night and the pips from 1973. And we've got another one coming up for you, Margaret. So let's tell you, we got to Charles in once did and I'm glad you enjoyed the football there, Charles. And yeah, I caught the last half an hour of it and obviously England, if you didn't know of one with penalties. So, yeah, it was quite interesting the last half an hour or so. Claire and Nottingham's got it right as well. And so as David and Trina in Brackley, Andrew Simon's in in Winter then, yes, you've got it. John in Derbyshire, yes, you've got it as well. And Bernie in Hurley as well, has also got it right. So we've got quite a lot of correct entries. That's really good. I thought we wouldn't have many tonight because of the footy. But I believe there's another match on now with, I think it's Holland and Turkey as far as I know. So I know a lot of our Dutch friends will be watching the match. So maybe I won't get quite as many tonight. So let's do the competition again then. Contact Bigel Radio now. Phone. Oh, one, two, five, five, eight, two, eight, one, one, three. E-mail. Studio@bigelradio.co.uk So we've got our second request now for cousin Margaret. 1968. And to give you a clue who it's by. Still really sad but good to listen. Bye. Well, that was the man himself who I had the pleasure of meeting many years ago, and he did that little jingle for me. So let's play then Rainbow Valley, especially for Margaret. General Charles is not as goofy as he sounds. Yes, thanks for that. Great choice there, Margaret. One for Tina next. So I was quite listening to, quite used to listening to the motto version, but of course when I got some better equipment as time went by, I managed to get the stereo version, and I thought, wow, fantastic. And that was, well, so it says on the label, the love affair, but in actual fact, it was Steve Ais, we were an orchestra. And the love affair themselves, the rest of the members, weren't very happy about it, but the record company said, well, we just want Steve Ais, and we're going to do the back end with an orchestra. So he didn't have much choice really, and it caused a bit of a riff in the band, but I hope they all got over it eventually. I do remember actually seeing the love affair, although of course, it didn't sound anything like the record, and that's the reason why, of course, because the band weren't actually playing on the record. So, yeah, I saw them play live in, I think it was about 1967. And, no, it was, no, '68, it must have been. And that was somewhere in Norwich, I think it was, yeah. Right, so let's do that competition again. Then we've got to nine correct entries so far. Let's see if we can get a few more. Do you know what this is? Let's play it again. Contact Bigel Radio now. Phone. Go 1-255-808-113. Email. Studio@bigelradio.co.uk Well, everyone's got it right so far, but if there's a few people are not too sure, a clue, father, name of the artist, well, her partner, well, I think she was married to him, actually, was sunny. But eventually, of course, the person in question went solo and became a very, very fantastic solo artist. So there we are, and as far as the name of the songs concerned, well, think of people who haven't really got a home, and they live pretty rough, OK? So that's a clue for the name of the song. Film troll memories from the past. Bigel International. So, memories 400 past here, 50, 60, 70s and 80s, and we tried to alternate them round and round, you know, one of each, as much as we can, unless it's because we've got a load of requests, which changes the balance slightly. But anyway, I'll be back after these with a little request for Tina over there in Plymouth. Good evening, Tina. On Sunday mornings between 10 a.m. and 12 on Bigel International, join Steve. Now, you see, if I make you hard, people can play. And soon. It's getting too much now, my voice is going up. For lots of great fun. Stop applauding me while I'm trying to do Pimini Mail's music. Alicia Dixon Love. And competitions. Oh, this is not a postcard, darling. Oh, this is not a postcard. Join in the fun, 10 till 12 every Sunday morning. Yes, OK. I thought I queued up the next one, but obviously I haven't, but let's play anyway. Hi, this is Keith Martell inviting you to join me here on Bigel International, a Sunday evening between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. UK time. We'll share some musical memories with a bit of this, a bit of that, and a bit of the other. And what more could you ask for on a Sunday? Ding dong. Hello, join me, Flip Miller, each and every Sunday, live from 9 in the evening for competitions, chat and, of course, your requests. For the first hour, we'll be chatting and having a word about this week's hot topics. The second hour, that was the year that was. Can you guess which year we're talking about? And, of course, we'll do. Who said that? And in the last hour, we'll just mellow it down a bit and have some random lyrics. So join me, live and interactive on Bigel International this Sunday. OK, so a little message for John in Hammersmith. We've got your requests coming up a little bit later. Obviously, you came in at the last minute, so they're a bit further down the list today. But for those of you who don't already know, if you didn't hear the show on Thursday, sadly, John's wife passed away. She had cancer and she was struggling. And, yeah, just for that, I'll let you know that, because John and Anna have been doing requests here on Bigel, all for at least a couple of years, I think, now. So that's the reason why John and Anna's requests aren't at the beginning. And we will play some requests for you, John, as time goes on. But the next one we've got is for Tina over there in Plymouth. Oh, no, no, please, come help me. Field draw, Saturday's Bigel One at the end. Yeah, so as it fades down and down the speed, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Yes, thanks very much, Steve, for that. 1957, he's got a very warm sense of humour. Right, why baby, why is the next record? And this is Pat Boone, it's a very early Pat Boone record. So let's have a listen to that now, especially for Tina in Plymouth. Why baby, why don't you treat me like you used to do? Why baby, why don't you need me like I need you? If you need love and affection, come to my loving arms. I'll be your shield and protection. I won't do you no harm. There will be no trouble in strife. I'll be your slave the rest of my life. I offer you my heart and soul. Right up in a band of gold. Why baby, why do you tease me? Why won't you please be fair? Why baby, why won't you please me when you know you can? There will be no trouble in strife. I'll be your slave the rest of my life. I offer you my heart and soul. Right up in a band of gold. Why baby, why do you tease me? Why won't you please be fair? Why baby, why won't you please me when you know you can? When you know you can. When you know you can. This is Beltra with P.L. P.L. It's a blast. It's a blast indeed. That was the first one for Tina over there in Plymouth. She liked a double whammy, actually, from Pat Boone. So we'll do that for you in a moment after we play that competition again. So we've got nine correct entries so far. Do you know what this is? Contact Big L Radio now. Phone. Oh, one, two, five, five, eight, oh, eight, one, one, three. Female studio at Big L Radio.co.uk. So our second one from Pat Boone then. 1956. And it's his version of 2D Foodie, which of course was also done by Little Richard, I'm sure you know. Now, Phil Trove will play you and track. You'll probably have a bird for quite a long time. Well, I don't know if I've still got it, but I did have at one time a very scratchy 78 version of 2D Foodie by Pat Boone. That's it. Listen now to a clear version. I don't know if you've heard me say this one before, but if you haven't, well, listen up. I went to see Dave D dozy Biki Mick and Titch play. Dave wasn't there, of course, because he'd already passed away. But anyway, I was with Sheila, my late wife at the time. And anyway, they announced dozy Biki Mick and Titch and whatever. And at the end of the first song, I heard this bloke sort of moaning, not quite near me, almost next to me. So it's not good enough, Dave D's not here. And a lava lady stood up and said, "Yeah, it's dead." So obviously he couldn't perform from heaven, could he? So the bloke kind of sort of went, "Oh." And his girlfriend sort of pushed him and said, "Be quiet, pipe down." It was so funny. And all the whole audience died laughing. It was so funny. But anyway, yeah, we've got Dave D dozy Biki Mick and Titch. I'm pleased to say that Dave D is on this recording.
