“The Ecology Center, nestled in the serene landscape of San Juan Capistrano, California continues its renowned Community Table dinner series for the summer 2024 season, taking place every Friday, now through August. Guests are invited to indulge in an unforgettable dining experience under the stars where the dialogue between farm, chef and community comes alive on the plate. Each dinner showcases the vibrant seasonal produce from the center’s sustainable farm, transforming it into memorable conversations. Inspired by the season's bounty, each chef composes an eco-conscious menu that harmonizes with the vibrant palette of fruits, vegetables, herbs and berries grown and cultivated on the farm.” The Ecology Centers Director of Impact & Partnerships, Jonathan Zaidman, joins us to share the bountiful harvest of the Community Table dinner series.

“They are brothers, they are French, and for them making wine at their Benom in Paso Robles is a heritage. Arnaud & Guillaume Fabre moved to California for love. For Guillaume, it was his passion for winemaking and farming without limits that brought him to Paso Robles.

This love led him to one of the most prestigious Paso Robles wineries, L’Aventure, and eventually to start his own winery, Clos Solène.

Arnaud’s story is much more like that of a movie scene. His move to California was to follow the love of his life, Chloe. This is how the two brothers -Les Deux Frères Fabre- ended up in Paso Robles.

As a tribute to the six-generation family legacy in the Languedoc-Roussillon and Bordeaux regions, BENOM harmoniously combines the freedom of winemaking in Paso Robles with the innate talent of the Fabre bloodline.” Arnaud Fabre is our guest pulling the cork on all that is BENOM wines in Paso Robles.

“The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association’s Summer Season at the Hollywood Bowl kicks off Sunday, June 23rd.

Now into the ninth year with award-winning chef Suzanne Goin and restaurateur Caroline Styne, Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine promises exceptional dining for visitors to the iconic venue. Goin and Styne’s culinary history has defined Los Angeles tastes since 1998 when they opened Lucques, their legendary first restaurant.

At the Hollywood Bowl, their California-inspired offerings include three restaurants and three marketplaces. Additionally, menus for the Terrace and Garden Boxes, which can be ordered a day in advance, are created by four-time James Beard Foundation award-winner Suzanne Goin. Goin’s vibrant new summer dishes pair beautifully with the exceptional wine and beer programs curated by Caroline Styne, the James Beard Foundation’s 2018 Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year award recipient.” Joining us to uncork all that is Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine 2024 is restaurateur and Wine Director Caroline Styne.

All of this and heaping helpings of extra deliciousness on this week’s not-to-miss show!

Good morning Southern California and welcome. If you're food obsessed, you've come to the right place. Join us for the next two hours and you won't go away hungry. One of the first American culinary icons Julia Child said, "People who love to eat are always the best people." We agree. Live from the AMA 30K LAA studios at Angel Stadium and Anaheim, The SoCal Restaurant Show is on the air. And welcome back. It is The SoCal Restaurant Show and happily we're here with you every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until 12 noon right here on AMA 30K LAA, the home of Angels Baseball 2024. And you can also catch us on the AMA 30K LAA Angels app. And how about those halos? So, to set the stage tonight is the second game in a two game set of the Freeway series with the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Going into last night in regular season games for the Freeway series, the Angels had come up short 10 in a row. So, last night at Dodger Stadium, early in the going, Otani. And this is the first time that he has faced the Angels in the regular season now playing for the Dodgers. Of course, what does he do? To run home run. Oops. Anyway, the halos pulled it out in the 10th inning. Taylor Ward got a single that brought in an RBI and the halos prevailed three to two. So, who says the halos can't be exciting? And it all happens again tonight at Dodger Stadium. And let's make that new record for the halos in the Freeway series with two W's. So, we will see. Happy to have Tony and technical excellence with us again this morning. Good morning Tony. I'm Andy Harris, the executive producer and co-host of the show. Happy to be here. My colleague, Chef Andrew Grool of the Calico Fish House in the Sunset Beach area of Huntington Beach on Pacific Coast, Iowa. We'll be joining us a little later in the show with his usual "S the Chef" segment. And I hope he's recovered from a busy Father's Day, really on two levels, a very busy day for the restaurant. But with four kids, Chef Andrew is kind of an active guy. As always, we do appreciate you sharing part of your Saturday morning with us. We do appreciate it. Do keep up with us on social media. What we try to do there is just enhance with visuals and other information. What we do here for two hours on Saturday morning. So, when there is a cookbook off the board, we generally will have a recipe or two from their recent cookbook to share with you, just to give it a little tease. And then visuals. Generally, when we have a restaurant, we try to post some food pictures, both on Instagram and Facebook. When there is a gourmet specialty food product, same deal for the food product. And then just other visuals from some of our adventures. So, do definitely check it out. Website's easy at SoCalRestaurantShow.com. Facebook is SoCalRestaurantShow. Send us a tweet or an X or whatever it is these days at SoCalRestaurant, as many of you do. And as we love to say for the very best and provocative food imagery, Instagram to @SoCalRestaurantShow. And happy to say this morning, there is a great visual of the really wonderful breakfast burrito that is available at Jones on 3rd. This particular visual is from their studio city location. But of course, also the original Jones on 3rd is on 3rd Street in Los Angeles, kind of on the border of West Hollywood. And Jones on 3rd, believe it or not, is doing an expansion at their original 3rd Street location, coming along nicely. And when that is finished and up and running, I promise we will have proprietress Joan McNamara back on the show. It's been a while. Joan is a ball of energy. And I really appreciate her creativity and what she continues to try to do to keep Jones on 3rd, fresh and relevant, which she does quite well. So again, Instagram @SoCalRestaurantShow. And as we have been for almost the last 12 years, we are enthusiastically presented to you each and every week by Melissa's World Variety Produce and West Coast Prime Meats. And of course, we appreciate their longtime sponsorship and support. Couldn't do it without them. Couple programming notes, reminders of things that we've talked about on the show. We had Josiah Citron on the show last week, just back from New Orleans and the America's competition for the Bocustor, the semi-finals to decide the five America's teams that are going to be going on to Leon in January of 2024. And along the way, Josiah shared the news that coming up next month, he is going to be doing a 25th anniversary of Melissa cocktail reception with Pastard Durs and stations in 18 of his chef restaurant buddies from all over, are coming to prepare these and be at these stations. And he said tickets would be available within a couple of days. They were. We did have listener interest. Unfortunately, it's sold out in 12 hours. So keep supporting Melissa in Santa Monica. 25 years for fine dining is pretty incredible. Josiah is a great guy. But as far as that 25th anniversary, cocktail reception and a due of affair, unfortunately sold out. What isn't sold out is this afternoon, after the show, at 2 p.m. is the 9th annual Garagiest Wine Festival. We talked with Doug last week, who is one of the co-organizers of that festival. It is a nonprofit. And what is amazing is, is they have 40 boutique winemakers pouring over 150 wines at the Garagiest. And these are small producers. So you have a chance, not only to sample these lovely boutique wines, but you are in conversation with the winemakers and owners. And they want to talk to you. So again, for wine tasting, this is something really special. And again, it's the 9th annual Garagiest Wine Festival, Urban Exposure, this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Glendale Civic Auditorium. Some tickets still available for that onsite parking at the Civic Auditorium. So it makes it really easy. And again, a fun, well-produced event. And yes, I will be there. As always, we have a full show on tap for you today. There is always a lot going on. First of all, we are going to venture down to the Ecology Center in San Juan, Capistrano. This organization, since they were founded, has really blossomed and increased invisibility and programming since they started very modestly. We're going to be talking with a director of impact and partnerships. Specifically, what we're going to be talking about is the community table dinner series, which goes on every Friday through the summer with guest chefs coming in using ingredients from the farm and cooking family-style meals for 80 lucky guests. And again, this is just a wonderful organization to support. And going to one of these community table dinners is really a delight. Then we are back up in Paso Robles at Benham Wines. This is a legacy of French winemakers that are in Paso Robles, two brothers, wonderful success story. And as a colleague of mine likes to say, there's a whole French connection in Paso Robles between a handful of very high-end wineries, the best restaurant in Paso. And we will be getting into all of this with our no-fabre who is the co-proprietor of Benham Wines. Fun folks. Then the Hollywood Bowl season kicks off tomorrow. This is the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association summer season at the Bowl, always and eagerly anticipated time of the year. And of course, great food and great wine. So Carolyn Stein representing Hollywood Bowl Food and Wine is going to be with us, previewing what's on the menu at the bowl this year, also the wine tastings they're doing on Wednesday and Sunday, and is always a lot going on. So you are listening to the SoCal restaurant show. When you return, we're down to the Ecology Center in San Juan, Capistrano. We're proudly presented by Melissa's World Variety Produce and West Coast Brian Meats. We'll be back in a quick minute.
