[MUSIC PLAYING] We're alive, descendants, written and directed by K.C. Wailand, Chapter 4, pre-game. [MUSIC PLAYING] Part 2 of 2. [MUSIC PLAYING] [PHONE RINGING] Walk single file, hands in front, and cross like you're detained. What? Make it look like we're being escorted. Oh, don't need to explain it to me. I'm glad we left him behind. Who? Vincent? Yeah. Where did you pick that guy up from? Washing out his gear in a creek bed. I was already there under the tree. He didn't see me. It was too easy. That's all you know? Yeah, he had no ID. Nothing. Same as Alvin. Then again, who does? You're the ones with the barcodes. Easy to spot out here. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I'm starting to notice that. Is there any way to lose these tattoos? Wow. So quickly? Yeah, right. There might be some old world ways, but good luck with that. People brand for a reason. This isn't a brand. It's a sign of commitment. Followers got tons of those, let me tell you. Tattoos are very sacred to ink in his followers. Then where are yours? Don't like needles. That's where my devoutness ends. Oh, wait a sec. You actually liked ink? That fucking mad man who experimented on all those infected? Mad man. He saw something in them. Maybe saw something we didn't or don't even see in ourselves. Yeah, you say that until they're trying to tear your damn face off. Their way of survival is simple, but honest. You know where you stand. But look at what man creates and forces others to build. Damn. Whoa. Those are the walls of the arenas? That one's called mountain range. On the other side, there's a bunch of rock walls, rough terrain, steep. Massive. You want to guess who built this? You are the fighters. The workers live somewhere else. Can one hate men as much as infected? Oh, it's possible. And which is more capable of evil? Save your preaching. We hear you. How many prisoners are held here? Thousands. I heard. Damn. And they made all this? Yeah, with modern tools by bigger fools. This whole northern stretch is the mountain range arena. Yeah, and to the east is winter wonderland. Cute. That's new. Look at the size of the dome. I'm pretty crazy, right? Super AC. It actually has snow inside? I heard it does. Down there's the train station where we were brought in. I think so. That monorail there, that takes the guests around from hotel to hotel. So, observation deck? That's where they watch. Who tells? There can't be that many people that watch these. Oh, oh, oh, shit. There's a lot of people. Did someone win? Or lose? Oh, my God. What? This is fucking nuts. Breathe, you guys. What's to say we don't make a break for it now? You think I would just let you go at this point? That would be my ass and you'd be dead before you even reached the wall, so don't think about it. That's all one sick joke. Alvin, you said it was close. This is it. Right here. Come on. You're kidding. Right? That's not right. You fucked us already. It worked before. Things can change quickly. We need to turn around. It's a new card. It should work. We're fucked. Aren't we, Alvin? Someone is going to notice us. What happens if we get caught? Technically it's cheating. And that means? Disqualification. And I think I know what that means. Exactly. So, open the damn door. Yeah. Come on. Works. Old reader. Perfect. And everybody get in. There's nothing in here. Yeah. You're screwing us again and again on purpose or what? No. This is the ground floor. We need to get to the observation lab. This way. Further down the rabbit hole. We're going to get caught in. Whoa. Oh God. Like I said, you're good. Look, no one would willingly come in here. So some dumbass gave you the keys. Why don't you just let all the infected out. Make them all pay. Jurassic Park, they're fucking asses. I can only open a few doors. Don't overestimate what I can do. I think we can all fit. Well, Floyd. Three. We aren't going to have much time. We need to speed this up. The map is in the middle on the left. Stay away from the windows if you don't want them to see you. Wait. The infected can see us. We're above them so not well. Unless you get up close to the glass. Stay in the middle of the room. Got it. Oh. Hey. Everyone. Uh, uh, what's up? Uh, man. How you doing? There's no one here, huh? Hello, sir. We'll just be out of your way if you'll excuse us. You working, I am? Yeah. I'm new. Alvin. You can call me Al. Most people do. The guy who loves infected, uh, took the old man's spot. The boar was saying something about you. Really? Well, what are they doing here? This place is restricted. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, we're just here to see all these, uh, funky things. I wanted to show off to my girlfriend. Ha ha. Sorry, man. Uh, I don't think I got your name. Will. Will. Alex, nice to meet you, man. Yeah. Uh, I'm sorry. My name is Alex. Everyone was saying that we should come take a look in here and you know. We wouldn't believe it. That you had so many different kinds of cool things in here. Yeah. Yeah. Where's the big new one? You know, green eyed Bill? You're not supposed to be here. Are you? What? No. We are. We're still coming through here. So we decided to check out. They already announced you as contenders. Your names and faces are all over the posters. What? What? We're supposed to be here. We're supposed to be here. We're supposed to be here. They must have got us. Please don't tell anyone. We just wanted to see the map just to give us a chance. That's it. Lisa. You're fucking kidding me. Are you serious? No, we're not. You know what the boar would do to me if she found out that someone rigged her games? She'd be, she'd be pissed. We're sorry. We were just... We used to go on, man. We'd try to do it like show around. You're never going to get the whole map done in time. I'm going to take you forever to draw out all those details. I might as well just punch you out of copy. No shit. Yeah. No, no shit. It's cruel what they do. It is. You know, it's so great that you say that. No, I like you, uh... Thank God someone here isn't crazy. He's not crazy. He's a captive. Uh... Maybe both? Damn it. Not again. I just fixed you. Order systems are garbage. Wait, wait, wait. You're the one who fixes all this? You're a maintenance guy. Well, yeah, you could say that. I, I do a lot of, uh, little things. How long have you been here? Well, what do you mean? I've always been here. Wait. Always? Like you were born here? Of course. Where are you from? Not here. Westport, right? You've lived here your whole life under them? Well, really, I, I, I get to do a lot better than most. All right, here, here you go. Uh, now don't let anyone find you with that, burn it or eat it if you have to. Hey, we appreciate you sticking a neck out for us. We really, really do. Yeah. Thank you. Nicholas Tink. William Walden. Or, or just will. I hope you won't make it through. We better get moving. Before you go, spend a few minutes looking at all the charts. Everything we know about each infected is on there. If you want to see what you're going to be up against, step close to the glass. I'm just going to take notes. Hey, you better be good at hiding those. This is why you brought them? I have a feeling. If I have any chance of getting through this, it's with them. All right. Come on, let's go. Start memorizing. I know a few more details about some of these infected from my time on the frontier. Let me know if you need any help. Holy shit. Are you guys seeing this? Look at that one. Alex, not so close to the glass. Two minutes, guys, and we're out. Outside. Come on. I'll guide you back. Hands in front of you. You know the drill. Make it look good. Hey, thanks. Well, we appreciate it. I'll be rooting for you. I was the last time, too. For me? Thank you. That was a hell of an escape. You pulled off a Derringer. Derringer. It worked out in the end, didn't it? We got to go. Best of luck. I wish you the best. You better go. It's time. You all right? Well? Yeah. Didn't catch an infection in there now, did you? No. I'm fine. This is something else. I just need my medication, but you need to go. Okay. Hey, we gone. Thanks, pal. None of this happened. That's right. Goodbye. Bye. Pleasure to meet you, Lisa. I saw the way he was looking at you. He was not. Yeah. Yeah. Follow me. Walk and walk fast. I took longer than I wanted. Derringer, the guy in the train, that was your partner, was. Like from the arena together? And yet it still didn't fucking matter through it all the way because he didn't want to share. He would have left me with nothing. Considering where your captive's and when it be here, if you failed, I'm-- I've had enough talking and walking in circles. Move your feet, not your mouth. We'll be back after a brief word from our sponsors. Hey, it's Mitch from Side Note Podcast. And I'm here to tell you about the new Google Pixel 9, Howard by Gemini. I didn't know that that thing was inside. Yeah. Whatever. Not the time. Thanks, man. Take care of yourself, Alvin. Go on. You don't have to be that nice, sir. What the hell are they? Uh, uh, no. Exercising. I'm telling you, they're just extra- Look, what did I say? Here they are. Hey, how the hell did you get out? Relax. Lining guy let us out for exercise. Little cooped up in here. Not like we were going anywhere. Oh. That's what I said. You cannot leave. Then they won't. Are those the orders? About fuck this up. Easy way to get disqualified. But you're lucky. I'd rather see what happens to you in there. This is going to be an interesting season. Here, your orders. Thank you for covering for us. Did you get what we need? All of it. And then some. Look at this. A printout. Peepy pants came in handy. He actually did. Check it out. Shouldn't we open these? I mean, each one has our name on it. That will tell you what team you're on and where you're going and what you will get to take with you. Here. Grab your own. Do what you want with it. I gotta know, I can't wait. Arena. Water world. Partner. Dot. Weapons. Pre-chosen long and short range. What the hell? That's it? Water? Really? Do you remember what Alvin said about that, please? Remember, water world is the arena that's half water, half land. It's got a large island in the middle, looks like a dragon head. And these are what you'll encounter in there. Gross. Where are their feet? Those sea dogs, they don't use their feet anymore, merged at the ankles, kinda did the whale mammal thing and returned to the sea where they found more food. They look like funky mermaids. Makes you wonder about the old sea stories. And then you got the river runners on the land. Still got legs, but they're webbed and took the whole beaver approach. All the water makes their skin thin. Both these are stalkers, can't put up a fight one on one, so long as you stay on land. What about in the water? Don't. Go in the water. I'm not a strong swimmer. Only two types of infected. Stay on land, bro. Who in the hell is Dot? You haven't seen her? She's here. Wait, like here the whole time? Yeah, apparently. She used the restroom after you left. Then she hid somewhere. She hid? Dot! Dot! I need to at least meet you. Please? I'm not a bad guy, I promise. Yeah. Compared to who? I don't know. Incense? Probably, right? Whoa! You were in the cabinet this whole time. I didn't even hear you next to me. I want Dot. No one would even see us till after the exit. Someone's cocky. Dot! Hello! I'm Alex, and we'll be in there together. Dot. Do you know how to fight? Dot. Wait, what? Dot. I think she's broken. I think she might have been on the other side of the wall a bit too long. And she's my partner. I have to depend on and communicate with. Dot. Oh boy. Well, good luck with that. Alright, better get this over with. Not me, not me, not me. It's you. Me? No. Thank God. Nick and Vincent. Winter Wonderland. That's the... No shit. Damn. What the hell is in there? Snow and trees. What did Al say about that place again? These next ones come from our Canadian brothers to the north. That looks like a full-blown Yeti. No shit. They do exist. They adapt it to grow lots of fur for the cold, and within a few generations, pure white. Big, too. I'd say lengthy. They're mostly fur. There's a lot of hair in the way. Sometimes adaptations can be too strong. Great. Well, what else is there in winter wonderland? So, one other species. Ice crawlers. Sounds super. Crawl around on ice skates. No. These freeze icicles over their protruding bone growths, essentially making razor-sharp ice armor... Oh God, Jesus. And they throw them. You're joking, right? That's all a joke. Right there on the map. Can't make this up. Start looking it over. Oh, I am. I am. What was the weapon again? Weapon group red? What's that mean? They'll have a selection for you to choose from on the way in. Fun. We don't know. Who's next? Hits me in the mountain, right? Your least favorite. Hate climbing and rocks with twisted ankles. What do you hope in mind? Sure. The heartland. Lisa and Vera. Weapon of choice from any cabinet or one you personally own. No, shit. That's not common. But all the cabinets. They're what? Full of weapons? Yeah. Well, that'll make things easier. Wonder if one of the options would be a sword. Like your katana. Why not? Never run out of ammo. But what was the heartland? What did Alvin say it was? You remember the one with the green eye and the horns? No shit. No. That's where they put him and several others from his tribe. That's not fair. And there's more. The heartland has two main species. What they call the bull tribe. Giants like the ones you saw outside slow and cumbersome, but strong as hell. They are fairly advanced. My least favorite. Well, then you haven't met these. Skin walkers. Infected who kill animals and then use their skins to sneak up on other prey. And humans. They wear disguises. For real? They use tools too? The bull tribe has spears and simple clothing. They are the most advanced we've ever seen. There was a third tribe of scorpions in there. But the others seem to have stomped them all out. And smart brutes. And stalkers? Yeah, no thank you on that one. I feel like we're all getting the ones we don't want. Is this rigged? Not. If you consider the hand of fate, maybe. But I think we can do this. We only need to find the way out. Don't have to go up against the infected. Well, at least Vincent's optimistic. Hear that, Nick. You don't need to kill them. You just have to find the way out. Oh, no. I heard that. But thank you, Alex. That's all the orders? You're lucky most of you know your partner and can trust them. Not always the case. Yeah, speak for yourself. That. Teams of two? We all go in at the same time. Oh, hold on. I got an envelope too. What does it say? 2 p.m. tomorrow, everyone goes in one group after the other. Well, that's it, then. Everyone knows where we're going. I guess I can start getting ready. How long? We have 23 hours. Make them count. [MUSIC PLAYING] Alvin? Yeah. What's in this one? It's unmarked on the cell I can't see in. That one. I'm not sure. I think it's been here a while. Will? That one? That one we leave in there. It doesn't go into the arenas. Bit of an old one. It doesn't play well with others. [MUSIC PLAYING] To be continued in the next chapter of "We're Alive, Descendants." And now, a word from our sponsors. Hey, it's Mitch from Side Note Podcast.
