No gym day this week, so I'll introduce my co-hosts in a moment, but I'm Jack Pierce, and we're going to be talking Chelsea. We're going to do 3-2-1. We're going to answer some of your questions, but we're also going to be dealing with the flurry of activity that has hit Palace Fantas Week in terms of outgoings, potential incomeings, and the small matter of a potential change of board members. I don't know how to describe it. Listen, it's all kicking off, and to shine some light on that is your friend of mine, Jo Walker. Hello, Jack. How are you doing? I am glad you're here because I've been on the road for most of today, so I haven't caught up with any of it. Thankfully, you have navigated the seas of today so far. I've written a timeline because it was just so much that's going on. I was getting hit over there. This is Monday evening when we're recording this this night. Between the hours of five and six, there's about four stories dropped. On top of already almost half a dozen reports from pretty legit trusted sources. That's the issue. They're coming from names that we trust and we regularly cite. We're going to get through as much of it as we possibly can, Mr Joe. Don't feel the topics just yet because Mr Ticke'm off as we go, and I can only apologize if we don't get to the topic you're expecting us to cover, but yeah, we have had our name mentioned in plenty of stuff, but we've got a gain to review. I think we'll start with that, Jo, because yeah, I think that's a really good point. I think Saturday will look a good point the further the season goes on, and we end this season unbeaten against Chelsea in league composition for the first time since the first season of the Premier League, 92-93. That is a long time coming, and yeah, your thoughts on the game, and I think it probably was a game of two halves. I think it's probably fair to say that it was particularly in terms of how we dealt with Chelsea, but yeah, what are your thoughts on? Let's start with the first half. Let's talk first half only, and then we'll get into the second half, which was a slightly more positive. Yeah, a haunting start I would describe it was not something we haven't seen before. Better clubs are getting worse clubs, but certainly this was not too dissimilar from the Arsenal start at Celeste, and if anything, getting to half hour, 40 minutes at one nil was a rattle touch, and there were moments in the game where I was really worried. Never mind the goal. Obviously, Sancho, it was almost a mismatch against Chris Richards at that moment in time, although Richards on Reflection didn't have a lot of help down that side, which worked out in more positive ways in the second half, but we'll get to that later. Their best players were really on song at the start of the game. It's as much about them as it is us, really, but they were the kind of failed duels that I was really getting concerned about. You know, Palmer rolling Jefferson Lerman on a couple of occasions in the middle of the park, and just constantly having loads of space, even on it, there's a counter-attack in the first half where I think Ebbs was the man tracking him, and then just it all gives up halfway through. And I was like, I couldn't be tracking him to a point. Yeah, and I couldn't believe I was watching. But to our credit, having not kind of had a repeat of the Arsenal game where it's now two or three, and now, gosh, the game's gone. It's within our out of our graph now. We kept in the game, and then even before half time, I would say maybe 35, 40 minutes, we then slowly increased the pressure, managed to keep the ball up the pitch without being incredibly incisive, which isn't a surprise due to some of the absences we'd had, you know, being without hues in midfield. You know, we may overstate the quality of its performances consistently. Maybe we don't. We've been very balanced. I'll refute any allegations. OK, I did a video. I saw you get some heat for that. Yeah, I've got a hit over the head for saying he's been our player in the end of the season. But without him, you're with two very defensive-minded midfielders, and that cannot, you know, there's a worry that there's a bit of a gap between them and the front three, and it looked like that in the first 20 minutes or so. But we held onto the ball a little bit better. We kept the pressure pushing back against Chelsea who, despite their quality in areas, did have a depleted defence style, although I did think actually the debutant played pretty OK. But it was a good sign going into half time that we were still in the game. Personally, slightly worried that we would deplete in the second half because that tends to be all we were able to do at the moment, given our depth and the confidence of the depth. However, pleasantly surprised, wonderfully surprised that we kept the energy up second half, kept the pressure on as best as we could. Players stayed on a little bit longer than I thought. You know, Ticore probably was maximised the probably played as long as he possibly could. And then we get a late equaliser, another one, you know, the new class of equaliser felt like a huge outlier based on our second half performances across the season, really, but certainly in the last couple of months. But to get another equaliser, relatively later on, against the side like Chelsea, who like Newcastle were pretty in confident form, that is a really, really good point. And just even taking away our dreadful record against Chelsea, that is an excellent point. I came away exhausted based on the experience of the spectacle and how hard we had to work for that, but delighted and genuinely really happy that we managed to get there. And it's further proof that even in this weird shell of a team that we've got, we are really hard to beat. And I'm loving that about us. You know, there's obviously rooms for improvement. We've been highlighting the problems for several months now, but we are now not losing games. And it's now what two defeats in 12 in a league, one in nine. They're not huge amount of wins in there. The important wins are all in there. But and we're going into a run of games. We probably do start winning some of these, but genuinely like really positive coming away. If there's the advantage of respect the point, that is certainly a point to be respected, because they were in complete control of that first half. And it's that point you make about the Corey and Lirma being defensively minded. It's still staggers to see how much Space Cold Palmer had at points at that first time. It's ridiculous. I mean, that's a testament to what a clever player is, but also there was a sense that we did kind of let them dictate the speed of the game and the parts of the pitch it was played in. Can I ask about their goal? Well, come on to our goal. We've had questions about our goal and the goal scorer. So we'll come on to that. We'll give that the due time. It's it's um, it's it warrants, but their goal, Chris Richards skinned. Let's let's use the appropriate term there. Was it just Chris Richards or did you think there are a couple of others who perhaps could have done a bit better with? I just felt defensively Chris Richards gets skinned 45 yards away from goal. It still looks like there were other phases which we could have done better with. Yeah, and to his credit, Richards does recover from that skinning and gets back to him and slows him down on Sancho. But then it sort of gets a yard bought Sancho and then puts the bullet. Given the amount of defensive minded players on the pitch, you would have think that Cole Palmer wouldn't have any kind of space really. While we'll throw some hay, I think LaQuar was pretty preoccupied for the majority of the game by Nicholas Jackson. And if we're talking about his performances across the season in the middle anyway, that's probably probably top two in terms of one-on-one jewels that he didn't come out the best on. I'd say only Watkins gave him a Tory time at Villa, and this is probably next, more so than Ireland, I thought Nicholas Jackson had him pretty busy. Yeah, Palmer's in a lot of space there. I was thinking about bringing up this more later, but also Chris Richards is quite high up on the pitch there when he is rolled or dummied by Sancho. And that's in part due to where he is on the pitch. He's playing in the place of Trevor Chalabar, who has this excellent relationship now. And it's a big part of where while we're in this upturn of form, that right side really has gelled now. It's Tsar, it's Chalabar and Munoz, and Munoz is playing very high up the pitch for the majority of the game, which is an obvious tactic, whether that's because of Cookarella or whether that's just because we need to get high up the pitch. And we had very defensive-minded midfield. Richards trying to accommodate for that or make sure he's not just ruining an off-side line or something. It doesn't mean that he had no help in this instance from Daniel Munoz. I saw very little in a way defensive help from Daniel Munoz in the first half. But again, it's that risk-free reward because his work in their half was a big part of the equalizer. And it wasn't an outlier. That happened a couple of times in the second half. So Chris Richards is an odd one because he's right-footed. Clearly, I mean, he's okay with his left foot, but he's clearly right-footed. But I think he looks a lot more comfortable on the left-hand side of the three. I agree. I really agree. On that left-side of the three, which is where he played in that run, was a lot more confident, I suppose, I suppose, for that triangle of death. I think because he's not that confident or progressive in the past, it's almost like it doesn't bother him because I've just been straight to midfield. He certainly plays the role on the right side of the three differently to Chalabar. And again, he's come up a lot, Chalabar. I think I like him, and there's a lot too like about him. He's not the perfect player, but he's certainly, there's this elements to his game and skill set that allow us to play a little bit more confidently and higher up the pitch, but certainly on the right side. And Richard doesn't have that in his arsenal. And you can see the obvious difference, which is why, again, I don't know if it goes with it now, whatever. There's all this noise about there is a recall option this month from Chalabar. Let's talk Chalabar because I was, yeah, we were going to, that was one of the topics we were going to cover. Just to interject, I think if anyone had a really good game on Saturday without playing, it was Chalabar because I think we probably saw, he's actually settled a lot better than some fans are giving him credit for in that. I don't think Chalabar makes the same mistake necessarily that the Chris Richards does. But I think Chelsea would also see that a Premier League team is weaker than when Chalabar's been in it for the past eight, 10, 11 weeks, whatever it's been. So I think Chalabar's value probably went up on Saturday, even though he didn't play the game. Yep. And despite having two centre backs on the bench, Chelsea, went with an 18-19 year old for his first league start and apparently, it's a possibility that they'll recall him. That would be brutal. That would be brutal for him because they showed no mercy. They showed no mercy to him. He trained with the youngsters, but it's totally bombed him out in the summer to clear, get his wages off the books. And to then open the door back, I mean, I don't know how much power he has to say yes or no. It'd be brilliant if he just told him to stick it. But I imagine he personally has ambitions to, if the door is still open, that he could maybe make the cut there and become this player that rescues things for them and rescues reputation there. But who were the two on the bench that they do have fit? Axial disaster has done five fields over fields, which I very much enjoyed. Axial disaster, who you may remember, I think was the - when we played them under Royb, just before he was sacked, that was that metatic absolutely skinned him on the wing. That's right. So here - 3-1, the conna-galica-2 goal, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then a toss-in adoribio. And I don't know if that was fitness pending or what, but he didn't start. So - Big wages. Big wages. Yeah. Big free transfer signing. So whether - it's established today that they can, Chelsea, whether they will is the big question. And I suppose it's how much they love those players. They've recalled a bunch of centre backs that were due to go out on loan. And they all - you know, there's a guy in Argentina they've brought back. Obviously, as brutal as it would be for Trevor, from a palace perspective, I think it would be brutal for us, because then suddenly you're going to have to play Richards there every week, unless Chaddie Riyadh - Nathaniel Klein. Nathaniel Klein. I keep forgetting the Nathaniel Klein, I think about this. The Nathaniel Klein is probably the option, otherwise it's Richards or it's Chaddie Riyadh, who I believe is signed beyond the left side. Yeah, he's left. I think we're honest with ourselves, he is the gay replacement, and it's all just kind of gone a bit strange in the summer. He - We'll come on to Mark, because he's another one of the topics. Another story. Yeah, but I mean, I imagine that we have to be in the market for another centre back in the summer anyway, because there was no obligation that Trevor was even going to stay beyond the season. This - that plan may have been kicked up the road or dragged back up the road a little bit quicker, because it's now suddenly maybe a conversation that we need to have in January, which I bet the board are really hoping this is the case, because as chaotic as this window is going to be anyway, it's the need for another - a primarily quality centre back. Primarily ready quality centre back. In the next two weeks, they probably have a list, but they probably haven't been making huge in roads for this window, so I can imagine a chaos that will cause us is not ideal. Interesting one. We'll see more about that as the - I guess, given the - I suppose the crisis that Chelsea have, if they're going to make that decision, they're probably going to make it relatively soon. It's not something they're going to wait until the last day of the window, although it's in their gift to, I guess, if the clause is active, that would be the whole of this month. More monstrous, absolutely monstrous. Might be the end of this fairly beneficial loan relationship between the two London clubs, but that's a story for a different day. Let's get on to the second half of the goal, and listen, we are going to roll 3-2-1 into it this week, because we are - got a special surprise coming to you later in the week, so we're going to release the second episode as that special surprise, so we're going to kind of try and fill this episode with all of your mid-week fun. So we'll try and roll 3-2-1 into it, because I suspect some of the key components of that goal will feature in 3-2-1. Just before we start talking, just to not predict the conversation, because we've had suggestions last week, 3-2-1 was slightly controversial. Lee Garrett, thank you for your comment. Many of us witnessed the death of 3-2-1 last week, with 3 points going on, feelings and hope. Therefore, I would like to put forward a nomination of 3 points to my half-time bovril, as it did the job, and bore me up for the second half of the fight back. We'll see Lee. I suspect bovril might get more points by the end of the season than on to Nedward, but who knows? It's a funny old game. And then E-Parkey on Blue Sky, what excuse will be found to deny Munoz 3 points this week? Stay tuned, E-Parkey. We'll do our best to dismiss the prospect of any points for Daniel. I suspect Daniel will feature in this conversation, Joe. In fact, I know so, because let's start the bidding with Jim putting him forward. So, we know Jim's going to put him forward. And the move from palace perspective at least starts with Daniel Munoz, dispossessing Culpama in the middle of the park, and pressing Culpama, which we were a lot better at in the second half. He had far less space and looked much less of a threat, although did have moments of absolute quality with his wonderful effort. But pressed in the right places, and then the ball spins to Ishmael Asad. But as Jim has put forward, Daniel Munoz, what was your summary of Daniel Munoz's performance? Particularly in the second half, when his performance ready to take a turn for the positive? Second half, I thought, was vintage Daniel Munoz. If there could be such a thing. I love it. Less than a year, he's already got vintage. Yeah. All the concerns at the start of the year, in terms of just what was once a Klein, Munoz, at least a triple threat down the right side, had just become a Daniel Munoz on his own while one-off commander, or Nketia, or anybody was just drifting in field. We found our relationship and team down that right-hand side now. And I mean, I include Chalabar in the defensive aspect, but really is Munoz and Saar. And that relationship has improved massively and cemented their places in the team, certainly Saar's. And as a result, Munoz's general performance has improved because his role seems more obvious. He's not doing being a water carrier for two or three different roles. He's able to get on doing what he does best. And he gave Kukarela a right-old pestering. And that was what we needed in the game. A lot of the fouls we drew were from Kukarela and Kiseido, which is pretty standard for him. But, you know, he was at the heart a lot of that, really kind of squeezing them high up at the fallback. And a few crosses into the box. Well, you know, the big chance in the second early on in the second half is Daniel Munoz crossed that he's worked really well to get himself on the byline and behind their defense. So really pleased with how he played. You know, he's now at that point, I think there's a universe where he's got four or five goals this season. Which is a testament to how high up the pitch is regularly. And that is maybe the surprise of how he plays has gone now. But he really is a player that takes us 10, maybe more yards further up the pitch and helps us be attacking threat. Well, you know, let's be honest, we have improved creatively. We are not a huge creative threat, I don't think, based on our even our recent history. So he is a big part of offering a different outlet, offering something where maybe it'd be a bit tougher in midfield. And I think maybe I personally have not respected that enough in the last couple of weeks. But I was, you know, again, it's what he was able to do in the second half, kind of shows you why the first half played out like it did it. You know, you can't have it all. He's going to, if he's going to be that high up, that's maybe going to leave Chris Richards a bit isolated. But I think with the impact that SARS had more centrally, because we've had to go more direct because we don't have ball players in midfield, particularly last weekend. The keep is going long, the centre backs are going long more often than they have done previously under this manager. SARS playing even maybe even further inwardly than he did at the start of the season. Therefore, that space that Daniel Munoz has the ability to run into and we are actually needing him to literally spread the width of the pitch for us means that he has a real importance to the system. Perhaps more so than anyone else. You know, you can talk about the quality of certain players and, you know, I'm not saying he's the best player that you could look at, you know, Max, it's the quality in Henderson in terms of the importance of their role in the team and the risk of losing them. But we lose Daniel Munoz. He's one of the more replaceable players in that in that aspect. It's probably the most I could go as far as saying. Yeah. We're talking in a bit after the break about transfer rumours. There hasn't really been a name linked as a second RWB, as the kids might call it. And maybe that's because the manager has a look at Caleb Coford and likes him. And that might be the answer. That's maybe why we've not seen more names be linked. But great performance with Daniel. I thought he was an absolute catalyst for the point on Saturday in the performance in the second off. And I think he will be a contender for the three points because he was signed for him. I'm not going to push myself forward but I thought the weight of pass into EBS was super perfect. One perfect. I've really liked what you describe there about how his role has evolved in the team. He's become so much better at being in-field or certainly a lot deeper than the other or certainly Mateta and actually having his own form of hold up play before it gets further up the pitch. It's bought us so much more time and territory in the opposition's half recently. That was stuff that I don't think he was doing very well at the start. He was very much someone who could maybe hit it over the top and it was clearly pace and a nuisance factor in his early start at Palace. You never wanted the bull dead at his feet at any point. It seemed to be effective but that's totally changed now. I don't know if that's pulled up to fitness or confidence, a bit of both but really enjoying how that role has evolved for him and how it is his now in the team. You can see that where he is when he collects that bull. He's in front of the Chelsea back four with loads of space but doesn't hesitate, doesn't get lost in his head about, "Oh my gosh, we've got so much space. What am I going to do?" Just hits a perfect pass into Esse's path who can have a shot with his first touch which in that position is, that to me denotes a great pass is that you don't even need to control it. I didn't think so. I had that in his locker. When we signed him, I thought, "I think we know what we're going to get up in. We're going to get a lot of energy. We're going to get a gold threat through the middle from him." Yeah, absolutely. He's a chalk on boot winger. He wants to beat the fullback and he's going to beat the fullback because he's rapping and he's technically decent enough to control the bull and get a cross-in or come into the box himself. I did not think we would sit. I mean, if Michael Elyse had played that pass through to Ebbs on Saturday, we'd be thinking he's so good. He's outstanding. It really was the perfect pass. I don't want to overplay it, but I've really loved it. I thought it was absolutely wonderful. Then Ebbs and obviously Ebbs's inclusion last week's 3-2-1 was controversial. Joe let's hold out. Council for now, let's not reveal who we're going to nominate and whether it will be Ebbs or not. But Ebbs's layoff came at a point when, whether it's on social or in the ground, he again was getting criticism for his performance or perceived lack of performance again. What was your impression of him on Saturday before we come on to the lovely assist? Excuse me. I think it was another example of how he's been playing lately. The as a glide is not seen, the kind of burst of sprinting and going at players on the bull wasn't necessarily seen. And yet, and yet, he's at the heart of our best moments in front of goal. I don't know if it's confidence. I don't know if it's him playing through an injury, which it could well be given that he has come back from an injury and that if it wouldn't be him, it would be Justin Devenny. So perhaps we've been asking him to just give us what you've got in this spell. Or as Dom said in the supplement, if he got that red card, Apple, which was being checked by the VAR. Yeah, oh my gosh. Who knows? And so with Ebbs, I would say 40-50% at the moment in terms of what we have seen him do in a Polish shirt and what he can do, he is still the main creator maverick in the team. And it is only those bursts in a game compared to what you're normally used to. Even against the side like Chelsea, he's been kind of a bit more expansive than what we saw on the weekend. However, he's at the heart of the two biggest chances in the game. And no other player in the team is going to get off of us that. So you just have to, he's equally as out of form as he's ever been in the palace, except, you know, post under the era. And then equally undroppable for me, even in this state, because he's still given us a chance to win games. I'm sort of the opinion you can't drop this guy. I just can't see how you drop him. But as good as the assist was, his miss was bad. Yes, yeah. The miss is a shocker. It was tough. It was really tough. I've been actually, I tweeted the video, for example, of him not tracking Palmer and got a little bit of a dig for that, which I totally understand, because it does feel like everyone's piling on it. But, you know, it's not from nowhere. Like, there's valid criticisms of some of his play. What I'm choosing not, it's in the eye of the holder, right? When he misses that chance, he's almost emotionless. And you can translate that into two ways. Even his head care, he doesn't care. His head's totally gone. Or equally, if you're really glass half full, it's right. He's just shaking that off and on, you know, you have to think about it. Get it out your mind. Let's get it on to the next thing. And, you know, obviously all the signs point to it being the former. But, yeah, that's the list of chances like that that he's not put away this season is quite big now. However, so be it. I know it's easy to say now we've got the point, though, that we're not going to bash him over the head. It doesn't help with the crowd. However, that that's being clear now. The interesting question that we and we did have a question about it was, does that influence and, you know, the compounded misses and chances like that, maybe? Does that influence his decision not to shoot for that equalizer? What do you think? I think yes. And I'm OK with it. It's on his left foot, which I don't think he's ever really been a confident striking with his left. And the options that, you know, it's not like he's just got a hot potato. Motetta is there with the glove facing him and on side as well, quite clearly. So I don't mind at all. I've got no problem with that. I think often people should be more unselfish where they can in that position if the other. If you've got a teammate who's got an open goal, then yeah, always. But I think the past go for it for his own personal confidence. Yeah, maybe shoot. But given that we don't have confidence in his finishing, I've got no problem with him layoff to someone else can score. I agree. I think it was the right decision. Yeah. For whatever reason and whatever informed that decision, I'm OK with it. I thought it was perfectly weighted and it's JP in the middle. And you're going to fancy him. And he had the being of the defender in front of you. I think it was Cookarella. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's whatever the decision was based on. It was the right decision. Because if he fluffed it, that's what this podcast would all be about. Just Epps. I don't think Epps is going to be my nominee. Do you want to pass on their breach? I would do also. Yeah. OK. So let's come on to a man who I think might be selected by one of us. OK. JP. Oh, there. Right time, right place. Boom, boom, boom. It's just a fantastic moment for him. And again, a good overall performance. Really high caliber against good defenders. The fact that Levi Cole will have to make the decision to pretty much take him on. Yeah. And couldn't pass him along the line to his to his younger colleague, Acha Pong. Acha Pong. Yeah. Yeah. I think that says how Premier defences are now respecting Jean-Philippe Mateta and his name, even if the goals haven't been the same quantity as they were towards the end of last season. But delighted for him to have that moment again. And so he's becoming back into the conversation beyond the Palace fanbase about what a good striker he is. And I've had a question about JP, which I'll post in a minute. But the goal, relatively simple task, but capped off a good performance on Saturday, Joe. Totally. It's funny. I think Cole was given man the match from a Chelsea perspective. And, you know, on another day, if we'd had maybe a different referee, I think Mateta would have won at least four, three kicks off Cole's holding and chirples from those long balls that we were doing into Mateta. He gave absolutely none of them, which was quite amusing, but so be it. But it was a sign of how much focus was on him from their best defenders, because that's the kind of form he's in. And it's something we've been seeing him against, whether it's two centre backs or three centre backs, in the cases I've answered pretty recently. Yeah. You know, so I'm really loving how he's playing. It's not, it's very unselfish his game at the moment. And I think that's the bit I really like. And, you know, maybe keeps him as this sort of, he's not a secret anymore as a striker at Palace, but I do love and we, I think we maybe appreciate unselfish strikers more than, I don't know. If you can imagine him in a many night team right now, being that unselfish, you probably still will get loads of pelters for not scoring 20 goals a season, for example. So, he's a big part of how we're still in games and how we're at this run that we're on. It's, it's work outside of the penalty area as much as it is in. And it's great that on occasions like this, you can still get on the end of something. I haven't seen it back recently enough to confirm my opinion, whether, you know, it's almost a collision with, you know, him and Kukarela both fighting for that finish. And I think between them, the day between them allowed, make the ball bounce over Sanchez. If you're really generous, you can say that's the terms deliberate finish, it dinks out over him. I think Sanchez lost his luck by the terrible kick out. Oh, yeah. He's crap, expiring crap. But I've never, I've never got it. I've never got it. No, he is one that I just do not get. Yeah. I think, I think many Chelsea fans are all so probably of that opinion. Yeah, I think JP, he's getting his flowers because his performances are now consistent. And we've said it week after week, but he's a real focal point for this team now. Five five league goals at the halfway point, eight in all competitions. Yeah. That tells the story of ours is certainly some of the work he's had to do beyond just being feeding off prime ebbs and Michael Elise. He hasn't got that this time. And we, there is a relationship building and forming and different type of dynamic. And he is beginning to get goals again. So I'm not worried about that at all at all. Getting a couple of days off, getting maybe on the bench if he's needed against Stockport, but him fit and firing against Leicester. And I'm pretty sure Connor Cody's probably already having sleepless nights. Oh my gosh. I was fed to him at a ging power. Vout phase and Cola Cody. Yeah. Yeah. Cute him having man in the match before. Different story. Before we come on to the final nominee, just a question about JP. Ollie on Blue Sky, Ollie King, thank you Ollie for your question here. And listen, if you haven't followed us on Blue Sky in a moving on to Blue Sky or want to be on Blue Sky, whatever you want to do on Blue Sky's up to you. FYP's on there, so please do follow if you are on Blue Sky. But Ollie asks, where does Mateta rank in our all-time Premier League strikers? If I start, what I would say is he's creeping up week on week at the moment. And you're seeing that that impact in the last 12 months of JP is right up there. I mean, should we put forward some alternatives? I'm guessing AJ's 2004, five season is right up there. I suppose AJ, I mean, Armstrong, I was before my time really, but I'm pretty aware of how good he was and the movie got off the strength of that. More recently, it's who, it's Benteke, or who I'm going to say the most, it's the lost spell. We had about four or five months of Glenn Murray up front in our Premier League. And I think it was due to injuries or something like that, he came in and after he'd been shipped out, he'd been ready. Everybody had asked to come back. Came back and he got something like seven goals. He got quite a lot between the end of the season. Two ups and part, one against City. And it was the fine Glenn Murray. Yeah, absolutely. Two wingers off him. You were worrying that after that terrible injury that we, it all just seemed really bad timing. And even in his recovery, because I think he started playing under the last couple of, if he came on it, Chris Dambour against, yes, pure list. And that was kind of the most he'd contributed really, because he was so far down to take your order. He did score that season. Now, first season Premier League, he scored one goal, I believe. Didn't he really try me? I couldn't tell you that was a ghost. Swansea away, penalty in the game. Oh, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely. I believe, listen, I hope I've got it. I think I'm pretty sure he's scored that goal, whether or not that's his only goal that season. I couldn't be 100 percent. But the chest down to Dwight Gail, who's still playing his trade, by the way. Oh, I know. And his hands are loving him. And it's doing a fine acting job. I don't know if you've seen that. One of the Hibbs, the Hibbs sponsor on the Kids Kit is this Lego company, this custom Lego company. And they made Dwight Gail act for their advert. And it's him on a laptop, pretending to be really enthusiastic about Lego. It's, please dig that out if you can. Post-career move for him? Possibly. I mean, I wouldn't, hopefully he's had enough money in football to not need that. I like the, I like the, the Glenn, because Michael Pardre, he has that spell, which is enough for the managers to think, "I need Connor Wickham and I need to ship you out to Bournemouth." Well, yeah. And there is that, I think the Bournemouth money at the time, hindsight's wonderful, Murray's age at the time, and Bournemouth coming in with, what, four, four millions, it felt like, "Oh, we're never going to get this money for him." So let's, let's take it and take, and go by somebody else. And in the end, he had another like four, five years in the Premier League, scoring goals at Brighton, eventually. Yeah, yeah, quite. So yeah, it's a sort of cameo show. I don't think that is the answer, because I think the Tet are over a more prolonged period. I don't think we have to give a definitive answer here. What I think we need to do is say that... He's in the contest. JP carries on like this, maybe just until the end of this season, I think we will rightly consider JP to be right at the top of the tree, much to Rob Sutherland's delight, because that guy has been banging the JP drum since day one. So I think it's a fair shot, but yeah, lovely question only. I think, yeah, he's up there, but if he continues this finale in the season, I think it's probably a fair reflection to compare him to the seasons of A.J. Chris Armstrong's impact before he's moved to Spurs. Yeah, fair play. Love and JP at the moment. So JP, is he your nominee, Joe? You said J.D. already said... Daniel Reynolds. Yeah, he would have been my number one. So if I go to somebody else... Do you know what? Let me go, Rogue. I'm gonna say... I'm gonna say Jefferson Lerma. I was gonna say, if you didn't... Yeah, fine. I think that's... I would have gone with that as well. Given some of the limitations of his performances, probably the most liable to give the ball away of the kind of starting 11 at the moment based on the fit players. I was expecting him to be doing a lot of dirty work in that game against Crusader, and we saw that, and he really mucked in. But he was also finding opportunities to hit some lovely long balls over to Daniel Munoz. There was a lovely... I think Mateta's big first half chance that's kind of flipped away for... or deflected away for a corner. It's a... it's a Jefferson Lerma ball sort of lovely diagonal over to Daniel Munoz who then lays it off to Mateta. And he wasn't alone in that. I think Mark Gay got a couple in as well. But they were given the task of that midfield, because you could say J.D. Corey gets a bit... she's done a bit of credit as well. But the task of what they're up against and how it started certainly, that they were between them actually able to offer some sort of threat in the other direction occasionally as well as what is quite a overwhelming demand in the playing against that Chelsea midfield and then Cole Palmer, someone that came quite deep as well. So I was quite impressed at his ability to contribute as much as he did in both directions. Yeah, I think it's a fair shout for Jefferson Lerma who, you know, if we consider J.D. Corey to still be on his way back, you could argue that Jefferson Lerma is our only 100% fit central midfielder right now. And he's going to carry a lot of responsibility between now and the return of Will Hughes, Adam Waughton, whenever that will be the manager, not particularly positive about Adam's recovery. So we'll see him start to be mooted whether Palace will look at maybe in addition in that part of the squad this month or not. And it'll, I mean, intrigued actually what we'll do against Stockport on Sunday in Central midfield. I think Justin, if any, might get a start a bit deeper and it'll be interesting to see whether it's Chet de Corey or Jefferson Lerma who partner him, but we shall see. Or actually because what's really not helped is the fact that there's less than three days later, less through a way. It's not a as FA Cup third round weekends go, it's not a big window, is it? It's the weekend after the one it traditionally is for some reason it wasn't the first Saturday in January. So therefore it is now sandwiched between Premier League rounds of fixtures. One of what three Premier League midweek season. Yeah, you know, they very rarely happen, do they? So they don't have a very often. Yeah, I like the Jefferson Lerma shout. I think he rightly completes a trio of Daniel Munals, JP and Jefferson Lerma. If we go with Jefferson Lerma for the one point, which I think is probably the fair shout. And not bowing to audience pressure, I promise, listen, because I appreciate some listeners won't agree this. I think Daniel Munals probably does warrant a three because of how inspired his performance was and dragging the team in the right direction. So that would leave JP with the two. Yeah, I'm OK though, because I would I very rarely push for anything on 3-2-1. I'm quite happy to concede as long as my players in the mix. But Daniel Munals, I think was the man of the match for Palace. So I would happily, I was hoping he would get the trouble. Listen, to keep the harsh criticism of our selections coming, we love it, revel in it. And that will see Daniel Munals push further up the table. Probably a fair reflection of his season, although I do stand by that Daniel Munals, his first eight or nine games were particularly great. And that probably is why he's not particularly high at the chart. But we'll see. But I think it adds JP. I think JP might move up a couple of spaces and not quite sure about Jefferson and his second half. Which isn't being counted. Really? Well, it does account as a save. But it was a fantastic bit of goalkeeper with his feet. Was the game saving toe or whatever it was, yeah. I looked at the stats early today after something I heard on the supplement. Chelsea's one shot on target was the girl. Right, OK. I did see that they only had one shot on target, so yeah, I guess. Yeah, I thought that was a great save. And then, yeah. Wasn't given right. Wasn't given. But Dean Henderson continues to contribute to even when it hasn't been in the convo at all. He's still making something like that. So fair play to him. Yeah, good on Dean Henderson. But no points for him this week. OK, listen up. We move on to the Tombola of News events and after the break. Welcome back to this week's FYP podcast. And now it's time to run through a number of topics, names, subjects that have come into Palace Focus over the last few days, particularly since the Chelsea game. So things are moving quite quickly given that Joe and I are only talking on Monday evening. So we're going to start off a question because it leads into one of those topics. It's Mark with the C. If a silly bid comes in for Mark Gay this window, do we cash in? He asked that yesterday. Today, Joe, and we're going to try and blitz through some of these topics because there's information about them, but there's not a huge amount of information. And maybe the media topics will give a little bit more time too. But it turns out Mark Gay, a name that I didn't think we would see linked away that strongly this summer because I thought it was going to be caught up with the club. We're going to try and hold on to him until at least the summer. But today we have seen his name linked with his old club. Yeah, sort of following on from the state that Chelsea are in and whether that's enough for them to consider recalling Trevor Chalabar, another option appears to be that they're looking at maybe whether maybe resigning Mark Gay instead. And that was ran by the mail and it's been picked up by Sky Sports as well as of Monday evening. It's unclear whether any kind of agreement about first options or release fees or whatever can be factored into this deal, whether it saves Chelsea money by actually getting him rather than somebody else. I do think personally, this is based on nothing. If that interest is serious and is urgent as in this month, I think we should absolutely fleece them where possible. There is absolutely no need unless we are being really highballed on a lot of the players that we need to sign, which is possible. I think even with the ownership thing up in the air more on that in a sec, we should be trying to extort Chelsea if they want him now and literally plunge them into a PSR disaster. Whatever acronyms you want to chuck out. Totally. Look, we all know or we shouldn't be knowing and expecting that Mark Gay goes into summer. Whoever that will be to is up to him and the gods. But we probably accepted an amount of money, reduced fee that we were selling for in the summer. And I imagine we're at piece of that. Do it now. Beyond the chaos it causes for us, I just think it's just a weird time to sell him. And we don't need to bow to the expectations. I think Mark Gay's, we've already seen for the new class of thing, not a sort of player that's going to kick up a fuss. If we are to allow this to happen, even if it's not an extortion amount of money, it should be with a Trevor Taylor Bob exchange involved. We've got to come out of this. We've got to come out of this with a big smile on our face. If we're doing this in January, otherwise we should just push it up the road, say, look, he's yours if you want him in the summer for this amount. Go away. Listen, Joe is passionate about this topic. The hand movements are all over the place. He's feeling strongly about it. And I agree with you wholeheartedly. What is the point to us for selling him now, unless it's for bucket loads? Given what we know, we turn down in the summer, given the acceptance that there seems to be that he's going to leave this summer, what is the difference between now and then, and the only difference would be money. I'm pretty sure at the time it was confirmed that Chelsea's right to gay, if there is such a thing, is to be notified when a bid is made. That's why I seem to recall. I haven't looked at it recently, but as soon as we signed him, I think it was known that there's maybe 20% sell-on, something like that. And then also the right to be notified if a bid is made, or certainly accepted. So interesting. And it's, again, another classic case of a club releasing a youngster, albeit for 20 million pounds, and then finding out that they were actually really good. And you probably shouldn't have sold them in the first place. I would be surprised if that has legs. I mean, it doesn't surprise me that Chelsea are inquiring about him. He's 24. He's a future captain by my reckoning, and he's so consistent. And it's certainly, if they're thinking about the summer, certainly going to be available for a lot less than a similar level player in the Premier League with that. Proven, at least what, 25? Like, he is proven. 24 this year, the top line. Yeah, I think he's a 2,000 baby. So, yeah, he's 25 this year. Just crazy. Ridiculous player. And whoever does get him, eventually, he's going to get a player that's going to play at the top level for 10 more years. So it's never losing that England place. I'm going to say that. That's it. Yeah. So this, him getting another move would just probably cement that because of the big club stuff. But yeah, I'm not surprised by interest. I'd be surprised at how if Palace really welcomed that, unless we are in quick urgent need of that cash injection. Yeah, yeah, agreed. Okay, we'll speak more about Mark if that if that story does have legs, but I suspect and hope that it will not, but we shall see with that one. Just before we come on to names being linked with us, let's cover a couple of names that have been linked with moves away. And Alex and doing a lot of heavy lifting on some of these stories. Jeffrey Schlapp, linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers, fits the profile that manager John Eustis is looking for, would love to see what that profile is, but we'll hold that for another day. And Country City now managed by Frank Lampard, supposedly interested in Rob Holding, John. I'd love that for Rob Holding, like just go and play some football and you'll be on the same money as you are here, because it's only a long deal. What's there to lose really, just, just go unless you're, unless you're quite happy doing nothing, which, let's be honest, I couldn't hold that against him, whatever. And he's been doing it for many years, Arsenal, before Palace. The Schlapp one was also intriguing. I saw another report, it might be in the same one. He's also got sort of lighter interest from MLS. I think it was San Diego and LAFC. I want Jeffrey Schlapp, regardless of my podcast interest and people going abroad, that seems like a much better nest. You've learned it, Jeff. You've learned it. That is nothing against the good people of Lancashire, but if you offer me Blackburn or San Diego in a few months time, I'm sorry. Jeff, come on, just think about, think about Jeff on a MLS, even on an MLS pay flourishing in California. Beautiful, Jeff in California. Jeff, come on. Yeah, so I hope for his sake, it's that. If Blackburn won in that badly, it'd be interesting to see. I think after this, whatever recruitment we do get done in this window, I do think it will certainly be enough that Schlapp will be off the bench more likely or really kind of on the fingertips. Oh, it really. Go and play some football if he's playing stuff. It would be the end of Jeffrey Schlapp's time at the club. Yeah, totally. Because contract ends this summer. I think I would still be surprised if Jeffrey Schlapp was allowed to. I get the Rob Holding one. That's dead in the wall to his time at Palace. Moving on, getting playing football, do the right thing. I can see the logic in that. Jeffrey Schlapp, though, I get your point about it, be off the bench with a couple of incomeings. He's only one or two spaces off it. Right. Yeah, I suppose so. To be fair, I forgot how many young players on the bench at the club? Yeah, I don't know. I would be surprised. I'm often surprised when I see players loaned out for the last six months in their contract. What does a loan do for us? It must purely just be a humane offer of going and playing to minutes if you're not available. But it's tough. Unless they're covering all the wages, I don't know. I guess if it's MLS interest, that will still be there in the summer. It'll be half way through the season. Well, their season starts. That's probably March 8th, anyway. And I think they do have a window half way through it, because of the European season ending, and therefore they're picking up maybe some European football legends of which Jeffrey Schlapp is certainly one of them. He would sell shirts, Jeffrey Schlapp. I don't know who to, but I'm sure he would sell some shirts. They'll never take that off him. He won a Premier League, and if he turns up just kind of waiving your keys in front of American football clubs, I suppose Premier League winner is just like, oh, yeah, yeah. How much? Keep it coming. Keep it coming, Jeff. No, it's on your other podcast, Joe, that Wilfred Zarhol was also linked with a move to MLS. So that's something for Palace fans to keep an eye on, but let's not delve into that one, because we've got too many other things, but X Palace of the MLS isn't a too faint of prospects, given some recent murmurs. I don't know whether this is an incoming or an outgoing, but news on Odds and Edward, late last week after we recorded last week's podcasts, rumoured to be on his way back to Palace from Leicester. Yeah. Rude Vanister, Rude in 24 Hours comes out and says, first, I've heard of it. He's part of my squad, then very obviously doesn't give them any minutes where they're being, when they're chasing a point at Villa Park, we're not even on the bench. It wasn't on the bench, no. Rude Vanister, we play with the truth. And then today, and then on Monday, the male ran a piece from a Leicester side saying Leicester would quite like to send Odds and Edward back, but there is, and there was quite a significant loan fee, which complicates it, but Palace have no inch, Palace have no kind of interesting doing. What would that be? Us refunding Leicester's loan fee. I guess we'd have to give them, give them some of their money back, at least a lot of it, if not all of it. And then become his wages again. And then start having to deal with his wages again. Doesn't sound too nice. And that is his only option, I think, because he played for Palace at the start of the season and got a point in 3-2-1, let's not forget. Let's never forget that. He can only go similar to Zaha, actually. He can only go to a team who are starting a new season, so that would be the MLS, Finland, Scandinavia, Japan, Korea, Brazil, even, but as he's got another year in Brazil. I love that news for Yannick as well. Yeah, so, but Edward's options appear to be very limited, and it's almost like it'll be on Palace, or maybe Palace go to Leicester. Why don't you find him somewhere else to go, who is starting in a summer league, and then get back to us and we'll deal with it from there. Crazy situation for him. Crazy situation. You know, a guy that's scored. Six Premier League goals last season. Seven Premier League goals. Six or seven Premier League goals. Played for Palace this season. I don't know. Very close to spread. I'm scored in that game, but disallowed marginal. Disallowed marginal offside. Cool, but for a VAL decision, he probably hung around for a bit. Very weird place for him to be. I don't know. I still think there's a chance he will come back, and I think there's a chance he will play minutes for Palace. I totally agree. He would play minutes, given where the state were in, in terms of depth. Although the lacking of football would now probably be a worry. Yeah, he's gonna be rusty. I think it's obviously the wages that are concerned, I think, for the Palace thing. I bet they've just written off. They've taken that money to go use elsewhere maybe this month, and the last thing they want to do is have to go, "Oh, right, we need to find four or five million out of a bat pocket or under the sofa to cover him for the rest of the city." I don't know. Was relatively hidden by the lone move, but he did suddenly want your extension at Palace to protect his value. So I suspect if we don't hear the end of Officer Ball's time at Palace, this window, that conversation will just be delayed until the summer. Okay, we'll see. There's a lot that frustrate me about Officer Ball. There's a lot that I liked, and I hope that he does start playing football somewhere, even if it isn't that Leicester team. But I don't know, a bit of a crazy situation. Okay, so that's the names linked with moves away. We covered Trevor Shalabar's potential return to Chelsea in the first part. John, I'm just gonna track some names of players that have been linked with Palace over last week. Let's start with Elle Haggie, Malick Jiff of, I want to say Slavia Pro. Slavia, Slavia Pro, yeah. I think I misclubbed him last year. I think I said Sparta, but I think you Slavia. Well, let's not tell anyone in Prague, hopefully you'll be forgiven. Yeah, that is not a game to play in Prague. Let me tell you that. Interestingly, I think we had a bid rejected quite publicly, and about 12 and a half. Something like that, and certainly below £15 million. Quite interestingly, Slavia Pro just sold their goalkeeper to Tottenham for an insignificant amount of money for a check side. I think the concern there is maybe they can be quite comfortable high-balling us because they're now no longer urgently needing to sell him until the summer. Whether we do pursue that, I mean, the Palace way that kind of ran it as they're exclusive on Monday evening. Well, one of the many things that we'll get to, an improved bid is imminent, but how high we're willing to go for that, who knows. And that seems to be the story with a lot of our interest. I think we've set money aside for all kinds of players and put bids in, but there might be first offers that have been refused that maybe we have more to go, but we're certainly the need for our selling clubs to sell to us right now seems to be not that pressing. His reputation is burgeoning with every YouTube compilation watch. Let me tell you, you can just see Palace fans really rowing us, not getting in this window. And who knows if that would just be delayed until the summer, but Palace fans have seen what they like on some YouTube videos. And I like him. I like the look of him, but you're right. I think his club have made a solid sale. This one, that's already been confirmed, doesn't it? Yeah, he's in the Spurs shirt now, holding their scarf. So it would be very difficult to persuade them that they don't need to sell at the money that they're asking for, because they don't. They've had that winter sale that might keep their coffers where they want them to be. So that would be a tough one to do. Not satisfied by one, Palace then linked with Andy, which sounds made up. Sounds ridiculous. We'd feel different lawns, but had his most impressive spell of his young career up to this point, playing in a Basel team. And I think he was named, I'm not quite sure I knew this was a competition, but named Europe a conference league young player of the season, last season, all the season below. So impressed enough to garner some kind of continental praise and looks a threat, but again, lawns, not really enough know that he's a player of value, know that he's a player of interest. I think I read that lawns have had scouts looking at him from across Europe. He's highly rated and he's playing well for them. I don't know what the chances of getting this one over the line this month are either because he's a vital player for them. Why would they club chasing European football? I just can't. I can't really see that one coming to it. And I think from what I've read about it, there's an acceptance that if it was to be done, it's probably more likely to be the summer. Yeah. So the British Armana reported a rejected bid on this Sunday. Saying that we made a bid and it was rejected didn't specify how much. And then Alex Howe, former Palace, sort of in-house employee. But now the BBC, quite a BBC sport, he essentially confirmed what you said there that from his perspective, anyway, bids for midfielders, polite anti-duff and Joe Bellingham, the other name that he suspects that any interest in those is likely to be waited until the summer because that money probably urgently needed elsewhere. I do wonder, though, the Adam Wilson situation, whether that might hassle and hurry us into a bit of a deal we didn't expect to be done. I agree with that on the Bellingham one. I think if we are, if we're being serious about- Let's talk Joe Bellingham then. Yeah. A name linked in the summer, Joe linked again now. Do you like him? I've liked what I've seen of him, but I must confess that's only the odd sort of clips of his goals and goal involvements that do the rounds on my timeline. Did sign a new deal on the back of our interest in the summer? We sort of didn't quite commit or whatever he isn't asked for too much money and he signed a new contract which inflates his value further, I'd imagine, even if he had continued to run a form that he's had this season. He's very young. He's got that surname which maybe- I love it. I wish I could credit who asked it because I forgot who it was. Someone asked on Twitter just an open question. Is he overrated because of his surname or is he underrated because of his surname and people think he's overrated because of his surname? I don't have that answer. I trust in our scouting because to this interest is prolonged. But yes, what is Sunderland's incentive to sell him in January on a promotion, a legitimate promotion push? I was going to say in a new deal. Week by week, it is a more legitimate promotion push. They are now in a top four that are making a bit of a breakaway now from the rest of the table. So you've got Leeds, Burnley, Sheppler, Genited, 53 for Leeds, 52 Burnley, 52 Sheppler, Genited, 50 Sunderland and then it's 41 back down to Biddlesboro who are in fifth more on them in a second. Yeah, I could imagine us. I think because we've been linked with Chris Rig as well from Sunderland, there's a third player whose name escapes me who apparently we've also liked the look of from Sunderland. Again, they would have to blow them out of water for them to even come to the table surely. Or maybe this would be the least helpful for us, I suppose, but maybe if to get it over the line, here's the amount of money and you're immediately loaned back. Like we have with Will all those years ago. But yeah, that's the thing. If our interest is serious, I can understand us trying to get it done now because I think comes summer, we will be way down that list and the big boys will be in as they would have been with Wharton, so we understand. Seeing Arsenal's name linked with them quite prominently. It's not a sort of business they would do in January, but some are certainly. So if there's an opportunity for us to get ahead of that, I can see why we would be doing something that we should have been doing maybe five, six months ago. However, how realistic that is remains to be seen. But yeah, well, in terms of that sign now loan back mechanism, let's get on to remain essay of Millwall, our beloved neighbors. I actually watched Millwall. They played Oxford. Got beaten, but he really was the only thing to talk about in a Millwall show. He really is the only thing of anything close to Premier League quality in that team. That's not not for Millwall, the last thing I want to do. But I'm a bit skeptical about championship winners because I'm skeptical about championship fallbacks. We saw enough of them when we were down there to think we had enough of them to think Bloody Hell. But he does look technically very capable. And Palace's name has been linked with him, but some of clubs like Monaco's, and you're starting to think he's going to start attracting the eye. And like you just said in reference back to Adam Walter last winter, he's getting him over the line now with the acknowledgement that he's going to go back to Millwall for the rest of this season. And quite possibly start to plan for him to go back to the championship again next season to give him a full season as a Palace player but elsewhere again. I don't know what the value for him would be. But again, Millwall, they're kind of mid-table. They're looking over their shoulder more than they're looking up the table. I've got to be on there currently on 30 terrible run of forms. It's getting a bit terrible. Yeah, the Harris went weird kind of mutual parting in the ways there. I think they got a decent draw away at Sheffield Wednesday. We can just go on, which might stop the rot for them. But yeah, in a horrible run of form and kind of losing their way. So their season is not really going anywhere. So it could be whether the cash means more to them right now, but then there's always the case of them selling to Palace. How enticing is that for them? But I do like the look of Romaine Essay. I've got to say again, that look on a left footed, fleet footed winger does remind me a little bit of Michael Lee saying not to the same level. I've got it. I watched Michael Lee say a few times already before he signed for us. I was so excited when we signed him because I thought he really could go to the top. I'm not saying Essay is the same level as Elise, but I think he's very capable and would be an astute speculative signing who I think would hold his value, even if we then moved him on in a couple of years' time. Oh, he would get straight onto it. He would be on our bench immediately. Oh, right. 100%. But it's just in terms of his longer-term development. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Totally, because if he's doing performing like years at Millwall, who actually say haven't really got anything else going on on the pitch, imagine him in a team where there are other options with that given loads of space and you know, he's playing in an informed championship side. Yeah. I mean, you've been seeing with us learning out Rex Sakhi. They're doing well, so you have to deny it, but albeit not a side that are probably playing to his strengths and he's still finding a way. So yeah, I agree that he will always be a well-wanted talent at that level. Yeah, again, it comes down to what are options here. Are we able to get him now? Will it have to be a loanback situation? Yeah. I must admit, the interest had gone really quiet, hadn't it? It went from being very public, loud, before the window opened to then very quiet last couple of weeks. And then it was, again, Monday evening, about six o'clock. Faberica Romano says we've sort of made a fresh approach, but didn't specify that it was a loanback or anything like that previous attempt. So interesting to see, all these players that we've mentioned would be very helpful right now. There's one on one. There's one left on my list that I want to talk about before we move on to take over talk, Ben Doke, another one currently playing Australian championship, but owned by Liverpool. Yeah. There's a lot of good things about Ben Doke, very, very highly rated as a youngster at Celtic, picked up by Liverpool, who think a lot of him was chased by half the championship. Mendelsborough got him, and by all accounts has been very, very impressive for them since he joined them at the start of this season. Dave had a bit of a slump over the festive pit. They've only won one of the last five, drawing a lot of games, dropping points in that way. That's why they've dropped off that immediate pack in the promotion push, but still sit in the playoff. So it would be a big blow for Borough if they were to lose him at this point of their season, but they don't really hold any value in the conversation. It's a conversation between Liverpool and any club that's interested. What we know about this one so far, Joe, bid when in around £15 million, Liverpool said, "That's nowhere near what we value him at." And then supposedly... It's between £16 million around the same time as well. Oh, it's bid for everyone. Don't worry about that. What about the news today, then, that we've gone back and again, and it's a little bit more to Liverpool's liking, but perhaps not all the way to their liking. Is that about right? We're certainly still in the conversation for us or under consideration. My worry with this one is I think I know obviously Liverpool are going to highball. Negotiate that's negotiating, isn't it? But I do worry if he's going to go over the ceiling of the upper limit of what represents good value for Palace for. I think the best talents in the championships are, the market says £20 million around there. If it's an absolute global star, maybe £25 million, who knows, that even that feels like, "Oh, that makes me shake as a Palace fan," given we've only paid that for what? And the problem is with this, if it's a profile of player, some of it's really brilliant in the championship. However, he's already been bought by a big club. Like, we've already been picked to it two, three years ago, and now they are doing the typical, entitled top six-side thing of, well, he's one of ours, therefore, he must be worth £30 million. I am concerned. I'm concerned that Liverpool are open to selling him. That's why I'm like, "Why do you want to sell him?" I can understand that because it's actually a bugbear of mine when teams like Arsenal or Liverpool, especially Chelsea, have players that it's pretty clear never going to play for them. Big stables. Big stables, they're players that are never going to play for them, but they still want the kind of fees for them that suggest they play 50 games with Liverpool. It really irritates me because clubs still bite on it. Liverpool have maximised value out of us a few times, but I even think back to, like, Reimbruster, for example, going to Jordan and I, Jordan and I go to Bournemouth for £50 million, who's now playing in on league. Obviously, there's other factors there, bless him. But Ben Doke, not a player they pay much money for, something like a compensation of sell-through. But yeah, it's going to be worth an amount to them and with their three biggest players out of contract, maybe they do need to do some shopping this window and maybe that money would be handy. But yeah, there's a number that I think if we're going to go over that number, and in my head that's 22 million maybe or something, they really have to be sure of the club. This is going to be someone that we're going to have for a long-serving player or someone we're going to sell for a lot more money. He is that right-wing but left-footed threat that I think the manager would like. Absolutely. I think we are lacking that in this squad. Before we move on to the take over tour, one man who we haven't mentioned and I will speak on my behalf have been quite skeptical about the prospect of him playing for us again this season, let alone ever. Mattel's francer. He was in the training video last week. As the last one out, it was like a teaser, the manager has come out and said that he's not ready for January but he's back with the first team at least doing some work. He may actually be available despite all impressions being previously that he wasn't going to be who will feel like a brand new signing, Joe. Yeah, he would. Because he's come up 11 months. He's played. I'm not as far along into the, I think a lot of hope has been pinned on him as it was this time last year to be honest. We are recording the day after he made his only start for Palace Against Everton. Yeah, which wasn't. Which I remember not being it. No, no, I remember that being great. But his sole appearance on the glasener was quite a really good performance against Burnley at home. It was Burnley's dog and duck 11 though. It was and 10 at that point. Yeah, what I would say, however, if he's still got something to offer, because I mean, I can't imagine a meltdown if there's a deadline day low move to like Flamingo or something. But what I will say, he would help us right now. I don't think he'd get thrown into the starting lineup or anything like that. However, he'd be enough of a pest when he gets fit, you know, or certainly available for selection that he's bought apart the match they squad. I mean, you only have to look at the bench on 100% he gets in. As soon as he's ready to go, he'll be back. Yeah, and he'll probably have to grow into, you know, I bet he's itching and clawing at the walls to get back on a football pitch again. And I will love that. And hopefully that kind of allows him to play well for us. But he may need some time to get up to speed, but it will feel like a new signing. I know that's a thing that we all laugh at and week, but just such peculiar circumstances of his time here. And the way the injuries have played out arrived injured, let's not forget. And before having another serious one and recurring. Yeah, it would be a massive boost for us. And I can't imagine it's not in the back of the minds of the recruitment side of things or Dougie Freeman will manage a being like, Are we sure you need to spend 17, 16 million on Romaine, say, how about we went? Hey, have you met? I think you're more than bento conversation or bento to yeah, equally. Yeah, because it's a lot of money for Crystal Palace. I know that we're primarily excited, I've been around for this amount. No, but you only have to look at our Premier League history of the last 11 years to know that we don't splash out that much. And when we do, it's a total bomb that renders us skin for the next two windows. Yeah. So we cannot be that club. I guess we're selling and even I think PSR has really changed how much money we thought we were going to make from that. So it's, we have to be careful while being, keeping to this model trademark, the model and model. Yeah. Yeah, we'll take anything we can get because, you know, we're doing very well with very little at the moment. And I think the manager deserves a lot of credit for that. Let's find, I'd love us to help him this Bob genuinely and the player. Yeah, and I think he's also come out on the record. We'll move on to the takeover chat and just a second listener, but he's come on the record. That she said, I want signings. And remind yourself of the end of his time at Frankfurt was hurried up a little bit by him being quite disappointed by what he's provided in transfer window. So I'm not suspecting he's going to walk out. I'm not, I really don't want to, you know, dramatize it to that point. But he's a manager who will publicly ask the club to back him. And I don't think any onlooker, whether it's a palace fan or not, will say that he is suitably back right now. And whether or not he contributes to that conversation and said, I only want the 20 man squad. Well, those more experienced in Premier League thoroughfare should have said, no, Oliver, that's not right. You're going to suffer if you do that. So we shall see, we shall see. Let's talk take over, Joe. One more name, just quickly. I'll be as quick as I can. I was going to say, I forgot, if I've forgotten anyone, do let me know. This is another one from the male print edition of the male, Tom Fellows, a player that can play across the front line. I like him. I like him a lot. Two goals, but 10 assists this season for West Brom, a champion. He's old school winger. Yeah, 21 years old from the Midlands. West Brom just lost their manager. Yeah, they are actually in pretty bad financial situation, relatively they are. So it's Chinese ownership, American ownership. They do not have luck with owners. And he's going to the England 21 set up now, but us in Everton are apparently looking at him. I don't know that would be, but hey, another option in that area. I think it was because our name was linked with him in the summer. Right. And I think it was a fee of around 11, 12 million pounds. So depending on their financial circumstances, that fee may have moved one will the other or speculate which way. But that's an interesting one of his name is being mentioned with Premier League clubs again, because I think he's very good. He's very talented, tricky wing up. In this system, though, I'd never really saw where he would fit. I think he would have to develop his gain quite significantly to impact this current 11. Again, a bit like what I thought Saal would bring. And maybe I would be surprised if Fellows came in, he likes to play wide. So, but if he's available for Saal, I would like the club to be involved. Does it look like that presents the sort of third or fourth option down that side, based on how much we were able to spend or who was actually able to be signed in January, isn't it? Yeah. And the desire of the manager and the recruitment staff to bring people in for the sake of bringing people in. Yeah. Yeah. Which may present itself come January 31st. I mean, it was only, sorry, another reference to the supplement. If you don't listen to the, well, don't subscribe to the supplement you can do by joining atatrial.com/fippodcast, Don Pfeud on the recent one. Excellent. He made the great point. Rob made it too. We're only two winter transfer winners from the business being La Conga on loan and a hamada coming in. So from Stuttgart, I think. So, winter windows are tough to get business in. How many years ago was Erdall Rakip and Yaroslav Yak? I mean, January is notoriously difficult to make signings in, but I am surprised at the litany of names that we are being linked with. It is surprising, pleasingly, but it does worry me somewhat that it just indicates that we are there and people know that we're looking for signings and that will either mean business won't get done until late because Palace will hold their value of a player and they won't be overcharged or it means that we might make a signing who might turn out not to be the one, perhaps not to the extent of Yaroslav Yak though. On that note, let's move on to final topic of discussion. The take over news, Joe, and I'm going to chat to you entirely on this one because this broke as I was driving to. I've only really caught the main headlines of it, but pretty significant developments in a story that has rumbled on for the last few months and may underpin all of the discussion we just talked about in terms of income, which is why it's particularly important times. Yeah, so go on over to you. So, as sort of an exclusive from the athletic at around five o'clock, 10 past five on Monday, a group backed by individuals from Saudi Arabia and the United States have signed an exclusivity agreement to buy out equal football and take a 45% stake in Crystal Palace. Sources briefed on the proposed deal have told the athletic. Now, that is the bid that includes Jason Kidd, head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, Morgan Stanley, sports executive, someone who used to work at Rock Nation. Now, this is not the sports bank bid, which appears to have fallen down the pecking order, which I think is a good thing because I'll actually quote the athletic piece a bit further down the line. Sports bank are still seeking to invest in equal football. So, do you remember their interest? It was being drummed up publicly and then it emerged that actually they weren't trying to buy out the Palace day. They were going to invest in equal football and maybe take text to see on the board of directors, but it was all in mind that text that could come back and revisit the situation if he had more money on the table, which wouldn't be any time soon, and would probably be the worst case scenario for Palace in terms of the short term and money to spend, because any money going to John Techster right now is going to bail out Leon and all these other issues that he needs to find money for. So, that would not be going back into Crystal Palace. Let me read here. Excuse me. The group's funding, this is the group that has got the exclusivity agreement, comes from Mansour and Haida Sayy to brothers born in Saudi Arabia, but educated in the US, who lead a fund established by a football club. Its initial proposal fell below the valuation that Techster was looking for, but they've subsequently increased its offer up from £148 million and that has been sufficient to agree a deal, which should they meet the conditions of the exclusivity agreement will then be subject to Premier League approval. Now, what is it clear is whether this will be over the line before the end of the window, probably not, equally whether the club are going to spend as if they know that money is almost certainly coming in. We also don't know whether that group has any incentive to spend any money once getting on the table. Given that they've had to negotiate and their initial bids failed, that might just be basic negotiation. That might be the full pot that they were willing to play around with. Now, having got a seat at the table, there's no obligation for them to then go, oh, and here's 30 million for January or 30 million for the summer, they could just sit it out and take the daily money that comes in the summer. So that stuff's all up in the air, but I personally, based on very little, think that's a more positive development based on what the most recent reports around potential takeovers, which was this texture. Yeah, it was going to inflate Texas influence on the boardroom. I mean, it's moving. You can't deny that, but the speed at which you will move, I think that's not clear, as you say. So the impact it will have on this window, I guess, if it wasn't to be completed this month, and who knows how quickly it will take, John Texas will have a decision to make about whether he invests as per his portion of the shares in the club. And again, that leads to me thinking that any business may not be done towards the end of the month with this moving, because we've got winnable games, Leicester, West Ham, who are about to make a managerial change by all suggestion, and then Brentford at home, who only picked up their first away win this weekend, just gone. So three games that Gladstone will be looking at thinking I could get some points out of this. I do wonder whether the winnability of those games to create a word means that John Texas might hold his car closer to his chest. I've never predicted John Texas right, I might be completely wrong on that. And it's also worth saying that the sports bank situation is still around as much as this current group, which hasn't got a name, I don't think yet, certainly you're not in the report, while they have got an exclusivity arrangement currently with the sports bank and this idea of like being a shell or going, investing in John Texas, that's still there. And it's basically up to Texas to decide whether he wants to take a full buyout or this secondary offer that still has him a little bit of a skin in the game at Palace, should he want to return to that as a possibility. So both groups now in the process of demonstrating proof of funds and undertaking the relevant due diligence. So it's, I love that there's at least a positive other option and I hope that that's the one they go with. I'll be interesting to see, I'm sure that the likes of Parrish and Harrison have had conversations with this group and I'm sure that they might also have in conversation text to go in like, if they're smart, they'll be going, we're never going to sell up, please give up, please go. We'll send you a blessing, we'll give you a plane full of cash and send it straight to Leon there. Oh, does this do away with the prospect of Stanley Tang, he of DoorDash investing in the club? I believe so. I guess that delivery didn't arrive on time. Ooh, here he is. I mean, list up, we will keep you updated and if anything significant breaks, I suspect an emergency pod might even be called, but still sounds like he's bubbling along and he's reassuring to hear that it is still bubbling along because this kind of boardroom impast isn't great for us longer term, but yeah, could still very much have an impact on things in the shorter term as well. Joe, was that it in terms of today or any other thing broken since we've been talking? Oh, my goodness. I mean, there was another, Rob Dorsett of Sky is basically sort of a firm that we are back in for Ben Doke, whether it's going to be enough, who knows, but we're now considering a bit over 20 million pounds, which is closer to their valuation, I'm sure, but, you know, who knows. It sounds like Liverpool aren't that bothered about selling him, so that doesn't work for us, you know, they might they might have been tempted by buying out almost Bill's brazilian between now and the end of the season, maybe it's which might be more successful now, we've we haven't got loads of lots available. What I want to go is that we've just talked about potential income into the last 30, 35 minutes and now I'm more certain than ever that the only new signing will be Ahamada returning from his loan at rent. Do you know what? We have had a loan return already. Jack Wells Morrison has returned from wellston and probably with the other bench. I don't know. Malcolm. Malcolm Abure's was sent back by Altford United sent back. That must be so depressing. Yeah, do you know what? I think in the summer, I certainly was quite praised worthy of some of the loan arrangements and deals that got done. I think it might have been a lesson in maybe go and let you know that stop trying to push as high level as possible and actually just go down and tear up one way to some of them know they'll play maybe. I don't know. It's easy for us to say in hindsight. You know, not everything can be a Danny M. Ray at Bromley, whose the reports are now saying we're going to set take back and centre Wickham. Yep. High up in league one. The play I was thinking about is it would have returned officially on the 1st of January. Luke plans is back, baby. Luke Walsh. Luke Walsh. Where is he? Yeah, who knows? I suspect he's probably third choice striker right now. Hey, Doug, you saw something in him. It may well turn out good still. Speaking of league one, Mr. We won't be with you again later in the week, but we do have something dropping later in the week, which does relate to Palace's third round Cup tie against Stockport this Sunday. So that'll be the next you hear from the main pod. But for other bonus episodes and a lot more content, more content is available on patreon.com/fippodcast, and there's an excellent episode of the supplement with Rob and dog five of the athletic that dropped this morning. So if you're interested, please do visit there. But for now, Joe, I think we've probably covered enough. And if we haven't, if there is something we've missed, it's OK. We'll be back again. We'll show mercy and not and not a lot of you with that anyway. So yeah, we will be back at some point next week to talk Stockport, preview Leicester or talk Stockport and Leicester. But a busy week, the fixtures keep coming and so will the pod. So, Leicester, for now, thanks for tuning in. Joe, thank you for the amazing new cast of vibes that you provided to this episode. And hopefully, over the last hour or so of audio, Joe Jim in the edit could maybe put over some new cast of jingles or something. I don't really know. But a lot happening.
