We're going to borrow a portion of the story of Joseph's life for a text this morning. I'm not preaching necessarily on Joseph All that he went through and all these face, but that's one of my favorite stories in the Bible the perseverance of this young man When you begin to read that and you begin to look at that Maybe you've never read it or maybe you need to be refreshed with it. Go back to Genesis there Begin to read On all that Joseph face and all that he went through and all that he is we talked about Wednesday night Everybody remember perseverance Patience and faith Man, Joseph had that he had perseverance. He had patience. He had faith He was beaten and left for dead by his brothers left in the pit Just sold into slavery Ended up in a prison house All of this after He was assured and very confident of the dream that God gave him that he was going to be a ruler So when all that he went through was enough, but on top of it saying but That's not what God told me. This does not seem to be the path that I'm supposed to be walking down and going through But it was not till later in Joseph's lives when he's surrounded by his brothers the very ones that beat him in left him for dead That he realized what was happening And in verse 20 he communicates it with his brothers Genesis chapter 50 verse 20 He said but as for you you thought evil Against me now that is just a few words, but that's a great big story Hey man, that's it. He said but as for you You thought evil against me you left me for dead He was saying he could everything that that that I just shared with you. Joseph said this is what flesh has done to me This is what my own flesh and blood has done to me. This is what my own family has done to me This is what life has done to me Can you just go on and on and think about what Joseph saying here? But as for you you thought evil against me, but say it with me, but God but God, Joseph said Minute unto good to bring to pass as it is this day To save much people alive I Had to go through a lot pastor Paul, but God used that not just to benefit me but much people Amen that we have been chosen vessels of God that is not just about us anymore But is to reach who God would have us to reach? Joseph understood this after many many years of struggle and hardship. He got it evil happens Amen hardships come but all things Paul wrote it in Romans 8 28 all things work together for the good to those who love the Lord and are the called according to his purpose I Want to share this you could be seated. I don't want to leave you standing, but I want to share this story with you that I read I was watching and following social media as many of my colleagues ministry colleagues headed to Indianapolis for the general assembly and They were they were journaling their journey if you will and one Sister she began to share she was my editor when I was in college she would edit a lot of my papers for me and But she was this I was following her post and her and her family her husband and son they were traveling to general assembly and She said I began to to go and I said I'm gonna get off on this exit Because it says that there's a public's there And I need to use the restroom if you're gonna by the way if you're traveling or if you're out and you want to use the restroom Publix is the place to go Clean restrooms you can see those signs for all those truck stops says clean bed restroom don't believe it So she gets off. She said I cannot not only that I can go through the restroom We can get something to eat we can grab some snacks and all of that stuff and she said sure enough soon as we walked in The grocery store the guys woke up. We were in public for an hour an hour an hour delay that we got there She said but first before I found public so she said I it said just office exit You go and she said I couldn't find the public's anywhere I don't know if I passed it or what but ended up finding the public's that was a long delay and then the hour in there getting their Snacks and everything and then forgetting that she had to use the restroom after all that then going back saying hold on guys I got to go to the restroom went to the restroom So they get in the car and they get back up on the road to find it. They're stuck in gridlock traffic and They're stuck in gridlock traffic and she could have got upset But she said I couldn't help But to thank God it was frustrating to get lost It was aggravating that it took so long and they couldn't make a decision She said but if we would have continued on the track that we were on we would have been right in the middle of that wreck We would have been right in the middle. We could have possibly been involved Aren't you thankful thankful that God is there to see us through a man Hey, man, well, you just stretch your hand this direction if you want to stand you can but we're gonna pray And we're gonna ask God to anoint this message today We stretch your hand this direction ask the Lord to anoint your pastor this morning that I can deliver the word He's placed on my heart for the service heavenly father. I'm thankful I'm thankful that you are my God and my rock and my salvation I'm thankful for this congregation my family God and I just pray heavenly father for your anointing today to deliver this word It's been burning in my heart for weeks now and I ask you father God just to Speak to us. I don't know what what they're facing and what they're going through and I don't know every situation in every circumstance But you know all God you see all Remind us today of who you are and what you are in our lives And I pray God that we'll take hold of this reminder today and we'll hold it close to us that we can be better for the kingdom We'll thank you for it and praise you for it in Jesus name.
