Welcome back everybody. You're listening to the Mind Mastery Podcast, enlightening the universe. One soul at a time. Starring Dove Baron, the Mind Master. And Scott Patton, the Dean of... Blogg-O-Nomics. Blogg-O-Nomics. Blogg-O-Nomics. Blogg-O-Nomics. And Podology. Not Podiatry, but Podology. That's because I spend most of my time teaching people how to podcast, how to get their businesses online, and get lots of traffic and all those sort of good stuff. Yes, indeed. And as a result of Scott's wisdom and knowledge, we have what was it? 40-something-thousand downloads of these podcasts, so if you are not alone in listening to this podcast... Yeah, almost 30,000 people listen to us on a regular basis. Wow, that's fantastic. Including some people that live near Pretoria, South America, hot South Africa. Sorry, I meant to say South America. We've found that Pretoria to South America. Anyway, the funny accent. But it's always exciting because we can look at this map and we can see where a lot of the downloads are. And obviously Canada and the United States is the majority, but then we've got some people in Europe and England. We've got a lot of people in Europe, England, Australia, New Zealand, some in the Middle East, which is kind of as always a surprise. Asia, China, China, and even Hawaii. Yeah, and then we saw the one in South Africa, so if you're in South Africa and you're listening to this, please... Yeah, go to Dove Baron D-O-V-B-A-R-O-N.com and say hi, because we'd like to know who you are. And particularly if you're living close to District 9. District 9, did you see that? Fantastic film. I haven't seen it. I want to go see it. Brilliant. Five stars? Absolutely. Five stars. Brilliant. Not at all what I expected. Not at all what you expected. Okay, so without giving away any of the story, is there any part that you just thought, whoa, that really stood out? Or any thought or thought? Yeah, what was great for me was the sub-text story, which is about prejudice. Okay. And so how beautiful is it that it's filmed in South Africa, which was of course for the longest time in the center of prejudice, the movie is about prejudice. But you never know that. You know, it's a big blockbuster movie, doesn't appear to be about that. The acting is great, there's nobody famous in it, no one. Yeah. And the guy... It's actually nice to see a movie where there's no... Yeah. And the lead guy, you start watching him and you go... What? I mean, this guy is such a nebisc, I don't know if you know that word. I don't. He's kind of like nerdy. Nerdy, okay. Kind of nerdy, he really doesn't really get it, you know? But he's kind of positive for nerdy, you know? And kind of likable, but like, you know, this kind of a leading guy, and the character development of this guy is absolutely outstanding. Wow. All right. And it's got a great, great message. That's a really great message. And at times you forget you're watching a movie, you think you're watching a documentary. Like a good documentary. Okay. So it's very close. Very good. Okay. District 9, 2 thumbs up. 2 thumbs up. And it's interesting, because we know we've been talking about wealth consciousness and all those kinds of things. Yeah. And one of the things around wealth consciousness is, and I'm writing this in my new book, which is about money and about wealth consciousness. And one of the things about that I'm talking about in the book is money nets. The people have myths about money. Right? About who has the money and what happens when you've got to do to get the money. All those kinds of things. And it's interesting, because here's a movie that breaks the myth. There's a myth about how you make money in Hollywood. And one of those myths is you know, right? It's the leading guy. Yeah. Or Angelina Jolie is this. This actor has to be the lead for it to work, and it has to be, has a very strong American connection. The movie has no American connection. There's nothing in it about the US. They don't even mention the US. Right? How can they do that? So personally, I love myth-busting. Right? And not just the show, it's a good show. But, you know, these psychological myths that we have about money or about how you become successful. Right. And what you have to do. And here's a movie that, I mean, I was sort of on the third weekend. You know, we know. There's a lot of promotion for first weekend. You know, people are going to be lined up. The cinema is going to be packed. It's going to be hard to get in. Second weekend, usually people have told people about a movie, and it's like... If they like it, if it's a good movie and they told them good things, it goes up. It goes down. But usually it's 50 to 60% less people. Exactly. And by the third weekend, it's pretty much leveled down. And you, you know, whatever. We were there third weekend. There was three of us when we couldn't sit together. We all had the same type of scenes. It was packed. And we were there half an hour before the previews. It was packed. So, it was a great example of breaking the myth. Right? And because wealth and wealth consciousness is all a myth. We have all these myths about what you've got to do. How you've got to be. You've got to sell out. You've got to sell your values. Sell your soul. Sell your soul, right? In order to get to that level of success. And it's just not true. There are so much more. And one of the things I was talking about last time on the last podcast was how we end up pursuing things we don't really want. And the reason for that is because we become in authentic. And so, what I would love to see, and we are going to you and I and the other teachers at Quantum Wealth Mastery, are going to encourage you to do, is how to really make money doing something that you absolutely love, that you feel completely natural, that you're comfortable with, that you don't have to sell your bloody soul for. You know? I know, for instance, I've been a speaker for 25 years. I know, for instance, there are speakers out there who've been a speaker much less than me, much less time, who are way more quote unquote successful, as in they own big properties and they own all these things. They own 37,000 square foot mansions, maybe $200,000 watch. They'd be. But the rest of the speakers are in that bracket. And have silver rolls or voices? Or other cars. Whatever. One of their, one of their cars is, actually, I was visiting a friend of mine and as we were leaving, their house is in a very posh neighborhood. And they happen to have four very posh cars in two separate garages. And their son made sure, as we were leaving, that he had to go to his car for some reason and open both garage doors so that we could see all four cars, right? Not knowing that if I had, like, $20 million, I would still be driving the same car I am right now. You know? Like, I'm not impressed at all, but he was, and of course, this is all foreign to me. It was, the gal I was with, pointed, had to point this, like I just said, "Oh, you opened the door, so there's some cars." Oh, and I was, it was, do you understand what he did? And I go, what are you talking about? Well, he was showing off his car. I mean, she had to explain it all to me, right? I was like, why do you, why do you want certain things like we talked about last time? And so much of it's just to impress somebody else. And as I said, I know... Probably not impressed at all. Nobody doesn't give a shit off paying any attention, like me, right? Exactly, right? So, you know, I know there are speakers out there who are far more successful than I am. And somebody asked me, very recently, if you suddenly won the lottery and you got $20 million, what would you do? My answer is real simple. Exactly what I do. They said, well, wouldn't you do other...no. All the plans and the projects that I have running would continue. I would probably do some more of those kinds of projects. I might move, but certainly not into some massive place. And I certainly wouldn't be buying any exotic cars. Yeah. No, and by the way, I like exotic cars. You know, my two favorite cars are Bentley and Aston Martin. Those are not cheap vehicles. Yeah, I like Aston Martin. I like both of those vehicles. Yeah. But they're not really good for tukling down the supermarket to get you groceries. They're going to cost you to pick up, you know, a 24-pack of toilet rolls. Who cares, right? So, for me, and again, saying that, there's nothing wrong with somebody once... If they authentically want it... If you're listening to the radio and the TV and some guy up on a stage that's telling you this is what you want, that's totally different story. Yeah, and so, for me, it's like, what do you authentically desire? And you can have wealth. And wealth is... wealth is so much about perspective. There's a story that's actually from resonating riches that I tell about how my nephew came to visit me when he was 13. And he was 13 years old and he came to visit me. And at the time, it was just after I'd fallen. So I fell off the mountain. But as you don't know, in 1990, I fell off a mountain and got smashed to pieces. And my whole world collapsed financially, physically, in every possible way. And I was sent of a coming back, and it was living in a nice house. But it was rented, and I had a decent car. It was a second-hand car, but it was a decent car. But the house I lived in was a four-bedroom house, and I lived along. And it was fully furnished with my furnishings, but I'd done reasonably well before I'd fallen. So I didn't solve my furniture. So when my nephew came to visit me, he was very impressed. And after he'd been there about three, four days, him and I was sat in the kitchen, and we were having something, and he looks and then he goes, "I'm called up." And I said, "What is it like being a millionaire?" And he didn't know that I felt poorer than I'd felt in years, because my whole economy had crashed when I felt. And I thought about what he was asking me, and I realized that, yes, I was a multimillionaire in his context. In his context of the reality of where he came from and where he lives, somebody who lives in the kind of house I was living in. You know, I ate out, and I was hanging out and doing things and had a reasonable amount of freedom. That is a millionaire lifestyle. Now, it's not a millionaire lifestyle to me, but it is to him. And so, we use these numbers, a million, or 10 million, or a billion, to as Marcus, to tell us we're there. But what you really need to ask is, what do you want? Why do you want it? Like, tell us why in the last podcast. What do you want? Why do you want it? And what does it, is it trying to say something about you? Or is it an extension, an expression of you? Like, you know, I love beautiful clothes. Now, that is my quote-unquote weakness. I love beautiful clothes. So, when you have your 20 million dollars, you're going to have like 1500 closets full of beautiful clothes. Well, I'm going to definitely have a walking closet, that's for sure, that's going to be a decent size. And I am an awkward shape to buy things off the rack. It's very difficult for me to buy things off the rack. I have a 33 waist, and I have a 48 chest. Suits are made with a 6-inch difference. So, with a 48 chest, I'm supposed to have a 42 waist. So, they don't make pants for me. I'm short in the leg, and I have big quads, so pants are tight on the left. So, handmade stuff is better for me anyway. So, it's somewhat of a necessity, because I'm a body girl. But it's never for anybody else. It's weird. Like, I never buy it for anybody else. I wear it because I like it. And I wear stuff that some people go, that's a bit weird. I don't care. I like it. And it's funny, because I go to the gym, and my wife says, "You're the best dress guy I've ever met, ever known." She goes, "Look at the wig you're dressing in the gym." I said, "Because I don't dress for anybody else." But I go to the gym and cut off sweats. And my t-shirts are all full of holes, because I'm going that. I get stinky and sweaty. I'm not going that for a fashion parade. That's right. Don't give a crap. It's really about tapping into, what do you want? Why do you want it? Is it a statement about you? Or is it a statement to impress? Is it an extension of you? Or is it an extension to say, "Please look at me." You know, I'm opening the garage door so you can see my car. Right. Right? And when we come back to that consciousness of what we... Because I am definitely... I'm in favor of capitalism. I'm in favor of consumerism. But I'm in favor of responsible capitalism. Yeah. Responsible consumerism. And part of that, what that means is, you are responsible for it. You're responsible for creating it. So stop bitching and complaining that there isn't enough. Get off your ass and do something to make it. There's lots. There's lots. Lots of people are making loads of money doing well. I understand that some of you are listening are really struggling. And I'm just here to say to you, that's not permanent unless you make it permanent. If you sit around pissing and whining about it, it will be permanent. When the next room comes, you'll still be whining. Or you'll say, "I'm doing something else." Yeah. And when you make your own boom too, by the way. Of course. You make a personal boom. Yeah. Right? The macroeconomy also has the microeconomy, which is yourself. And that's one of the things that's so exciting about quantum wealth mastery. It takes you people to build a me economy. Yeah. The me economy. Yeah. That's very, very cool. Just generated out of you. This is what it is. This is where I'm approaching wealth and finance. Because that's what it's like taking back that responsibility. And what that also means then is, you've got to detach from what everybody else thinks you should be. Yeah. And think, yeah. Think you should be. And think, yeah. Because that's, to me, that's where a lot of this problem comes from. Like, people are buying $2,000 TVs on credits and then wondering how they're going to pay for it. Well, yeah. Although, and then- But they don't need. They already have three TVs. Yeah. Well, you know, I like a big telly. I don't have one, but you know, it would be nice. I don't watch enough TV. If I watch more TV, I buy a big TV. It's that simple. Yeah. But I'll watch enough TV, right? Yeah. So it doesn't really matter to me. But I walk us in this house and they watch TV in order to watch a lot of movies and everything. I don't need judgment, right? That's great. Yeah. I think it's terrific. It's beautiful. And I'll say watch the movie with you. But it's like, why do you have to have it because your neighbor got it? Well, that's the point. You have to have it because your buddy got it. You have to have it because you watch the frickin' commercial. And you just have to have it. I mean, come on, you've watched the commercial for the burger and you've not been hungry and you've got up and got them bought a burger. Yeah. Somewhere along the line, you've got to get it that you're in hypnosis. You've just been hypnotized to go buy. That's right. Right? And so get out of the hypnosis and just choose for yourself. Then you become a responsible consumer. I'm here in a good morning coming. Well, I have. Okay. Good morning, everybody. Wake up. Exactly. Wake up. Right? That's right. It's true. I mean, we really got to wake up. Yeah. You know, the economy has changed. And one of the things we've been talking a lot about in Quantum Wealth is that we've got to get away from competition. And we've got to get into collaboration. Mm-hmm. And it doesn't mean we have to become passive and socialist and not have any competition. There's no one talking about. But instead of a competitive mindset, we have a collaborative, contributing mindset of how can I help you? How can you help me? It's a very different mindset. Yeah. And we can all still do very well and have, you know, and you can, if you, if your desire is to live in a 40,000 square foot mansion, rockin'. Good. If that's what you genuinely want, and if you want $200,000, great. If you want a big diamond ring and gold encrusted knickers, all those are fantastic. If that's what you genuinely want. And if you genuinely want to have a big art studio and just paint, or you want to just make music, or whatever it is, and you don't care about any of those things. Or you just want to putter in your garden and grow hubs and fantastic. But it's like, let's try and come back, and this is the point of the thing. That's where true fulfillment comes from. Is when you're doing the things that you really deep down want to do, as opposed to accumulating stuff, because in our hypnotic state, we've been told that's what we want. But it's also, we've been told that it will give us happiness, which is a lie. And that's the big lie. And if you don't believe me, go look in that cupboard you've got, with those things you've bought, from a late night infomercial, or from some, as you passed the store, there was some special offer on, and you never, ever used it. But you swore it would be useful, and you actually thought it would make you happy. So my question to you is always going to be, before you buy something, what emotion am I trying to get out of this? Well, since you brought up late night infomercial, I got to jump in with the story, because my son was watching an infomercial, and it was like eight o'clock at night, so it wasn't a late night one, with my then girlfriend. And they were selling these knots. They were like, forever sharp, and this and that, I don't know. And he was going, Dad, Dad, we need to get these knots, we need to get these knots, right? You know, the this and that, and everything else, and I'm like, no, no, no, no, no. And my girlfriend trips and all of these really look like good knots, right. And you get a juicer, and you get this. But wait, there's more. There's more. So I said, I know what will happen. I'm going to phone, and it's like $19.99 or $39.99, and then it's going to, by the time I'm off the phone, it's going to be like $300. So I said, okay, I'm going to call, but I'm not going to buy a thing after that, right? So, sure enough, I call, and they want to sell me a big, hunk of wood for me with slots for all the different knots, right? And I said, no, no, no, no, thanks. Okay, well, here you go. Thank you very much, sir, by clicking, we're done. And a couple weeks later, I get these knots. We love these knots. I had no knots like either before. Okay, it's not like I had a bunch of steak knives, a bunch of cutting knives, a bread knife. I had none of that, which is one of the reasons why my son wanted knives, right? And to this day, I'm not getting that blocked because I have all these knives, and they're really nice knives, all over the place, all the time. No, you're going to be really nice, damn. So it's really quite funny when your time is. Sometimes, you know, you say no to stuff that you actually probably should have said yes to, for, you know, $20 bucks for a 20 bucks, right? So, but anyway, and that's because, again, my ego was involved in this, right? My ego was like, no, I'm not going to... So the thing about the ego with this whole thing is that your ego gets you to buy it, and your ego is the same when it says no, I won't, I'm not spending the money. These people are trying to rip me off. Yeah. Well, you know, isn't it a rip off if you buy something you want that you genuinely need? No. Of course it's not. And then they suggest something that goes really well with what you're getting. Right. And you... That's not a rip off. So the ego gets involved in both ends. That's right. All right. So it's... I mean, these guys know what they're doing. That is for sure. But we've got to really watch our own egos. So my challenge to our listeners is, you know, for the next little while, whenever you go out and buy something, just want you to ask, what might be the feeling that I'll get out of this? Now, you might think, well, there's no feeling attached to this. This is batteries for my walkman, or whatever it is, or for my iPod off, or my whatever it is, my electric toothbrush. And just, I want you to ask that. I really want you to question that. What's the feeling? I'm not actually going to give you any more clues on that, because I think you're going to be quite shocked to discover what you find out about what the feeling is around something you buy. Because here's what I want you to understand. You have never bought anything, and another is going to be a shock to you. You have never bought anything without an emotional reason. I know you've had a logical backup that you can justify it by, but everything you have ever bought, you bought because of some emotional reason. But when you start tapping into that, becoming aware of that, paying attention to that, you become a conscious consumer. You start paying attention to why are you really buying things? Yeah. And we get away from rampant consumerism, which I don't think is helping the world. It doesn't help the world. No. Awesome. So you've been listening to the Mind Mastery podcast, enlightening the universe. One soul at a time. That's our buy line, until we get a better one.
