where respect is deserved I've never been a massive Neil Young guy this year I got really into Neil Young maybe the last year and a half the song old man by Neil Young I feel like it's kind of a good thing when you get into somebody like Neil Young when you're older hmm cuz there are things about Neil Young type songs that you you just understand more when you're an older person we've got an old it's a fantastic answer I know I had three I don't like that but these are my three it's fine but it's Charlie XCX Chapel room and spring carpenter you know Sabrina carpenter would be the only one pop-wise that would probably beat out Chappelle wrong chapel what do you mean beat out as far as like who's more breakout II yes or really I do think Sabrina is like covering more ground fans and people know about her and people know her music I guess I don't know I literally do not know speaking of should we do the WTF awards yeah I just have the one the speaking of WTF what the fuck why do and people playing in other people sandboxes my good friend Austin post Malone has done duets this year with Taylor Swift with Beyonce with Morgan Wallen with Blake Shelton with Luke Combs he is he's gotten that country don't think that's necessary to I mean I don't I don't however I very much understand like you want to reach other groups and you know you have Morgan Wallen and Post Malone and then Morgan Wallen is fans are listening to Post Malone stuff and Post Malone stuff is now like oh Morgan Wallen he's racist yes post Malone you don't need to say yes to everyone what is your number mean just fucking love it and I am I am not I was not into it and that's fine number one is Taylor Swift - aspects of Taylor Swift I will complain are you sure all the time about Taylor Swift putting every fucking album on 85 different colored vinyls I think it is bullshit yeah to make your fans buy that many albums to have this full set of things the way that she does exactly the way that she does it a lot of her audience is like teenage kids and they're spending all of their money on four albums so it looks like a clock because you got to get that one song every color only on that target release exactly there's only on that target release and I think that is I mean she is a business woman but I think it is just insanely unfair to people that just want to enjoy music and you know she's not the only one who was the other one that we talked about just that I was complaining about was it the cure yeah that had yes six five or six different versions of the same album yep a lot of the big one Pearl Jam did every single Pearl Jam and Rolling Stone did every single major league baseball team right that is too much super gross it's a super gross and I don't even like it my number one and it's really similar maybe same Z's to somebody's number two it's the fucking brat album maybe same Z's album of the year everywhere I'm gonna say I went to the record exchange my favorite vinyl store of all time and you know we love her we know her Charlie XX Halloween Rachel yeah so she knows she does a record exchange work she had her like favorites recommends I don't I just don't fucking get it that's my number one so many album of the years so many what the I don't what the fuck evil what's your number one there's a brat no it and this this is the one that kicked off all the four it's the tick-tockification of everything right and the compressing of attention span grasping at attention and the dopamine hits that follow don't believe I love it it's so good I don't like what it's doing to our brains our kids can even sit through a movie yeah old man yells at cloud yeah I like old man yells at long are we good do we I don't know we can stop like certain art forms will just go away because there's not gonna be an audience I would agree you know in 1994 I couldn't wait until I had basically what we have today music at my fingertips you know where I could queue up whatever songs I wanted the list to whatever order I had a booklet full of CDs right take it out of the booklet put it in player you know play track by track and check that when I want to listen to a song on a different CD and put it in but I pine for the days where I would get an album and have all this artwork and liner notes and it was scarce like I would wait and go dig through rows and rows of CDs and musical and or whatever the store was at the time that I go to to find something that I would then like bend time with before I even listen to the music going back and listening to to that music from 94 makes me realize how much or how important it is to live in the moment with music and spend the time to not just subconsciously rip open an album and throw it on the on the turntable but to actually experience this music for the first time which I'm gonna do with this album and I'm excited about that I highly highly highly recommend for anybody who didn't go through that period of vinyl or tapes or or CDs to spend time with the physical media because there's more to the music than just playlist and streaming and Spotify likes listens and use there's there's an artist behind every single ounce of music out there and it's important to understand everything that they're putting behind what they're creating don't just listen to music experience it I'm glad I'm doing that again everybody because we've got to go over our top five favorite songs of 2024 baby we're there we're getting there isn't it lovely isn't it beautiful oh my love my bad should I start should I start on my they're just daring each other the entire entire song with the lyrics again what I mentioned in the quickfire when we did this one they are so much exactly themselves but they blend so well together yeah that it is just amazing and I just fucking I love Noah Cyrus's voice it is she's amazing he's amazing and together it is just magical okay I'm okay with that you know it's great my number two bag those three are her best albums to me oh hundred percent but boys for Paylay is your best one so number eight actually was Pearl Jam is a vitality not my favorite Pearl Jam what is your favorite ten which jam is your favorite seven Green Day Doogie that is just of course yeah you have that time you know that is that is a classic from when we were kids there's there's that's a soundtrack to our our childhood so of course that should be on that oh yeah one of those six STT STP purple we've got we've gone yeah we I mean we talked about purple purple is sleeping on a southern train a perfect album yeah it's just great agreed nine inch nails so nine inch nails was a band for me when I was a kid that I was like this is terrifying I can't listen to it it sounds like Satan now I've I've very much appreciate Trent Reznor and his ability to music adicousness I know is this number four I don't know that I really understand that one oh he is he has the ability to paint pictures with words very well he's a great lyricist and he's I think that it may be on there because at the time rap wise definitely the best rap lyricist of the year of the time in my opinion yeah two poor's head dummy haunting it's beautiful that's that's a good one and then your tie first weezer sound garden I think that makes perfect sense what do I not agree where's the fire like what do I think should not be on number eight it is we know we fucking love him but this was lacking a little bit just because he was doing it with other people and it is stampede by Orville Peck yeah we love we fucking love orville Peck Orville Peck's fantastic but I can back some petition oh my god sign the fucking petition my god sign it number seven man people were clamoring for this to be like album of the year fucking amazing even I loved it Rachel hated it it is songs of the lost world by the cure little surprise this didn't end up a little bit farther up just because of things but it didn't and that's okay number six kind of out of nowhere it's metal but it's also fucking new age punky metal and it's fast and it's fun and it's highly irresponsible by better lovers but it's an awesome album if it ran into the hardness you would want to love it let's go to number five everybody Rachel evil why don't you guys talk about your love and how it made number five which is a I admit two is a fantastic album it is B four seven one by King gizzard and the lizard wizard crack the top five it's silly it right it's silly that I love that album though okay same because it's so good yeah it's so good it is I get it me maybe I just haven't had enough time with Kendrick Lamar album but it is to me the best hip-hop album of 2024 it's chroma copie up by Tyler the creator that album's badass huh it is dope and I do wonder you know we have the conversation of when we do the cut off for music yeah because Tyler's or Kendrick's came out so late in the month that we really I got two listens through it maybe mm-hmm and one with lyrics and mm-hmm I didn't have a chance to fall in love with it we are now to our number two so extremely surprising to me but extremely happy that she's here it is all born screaming by Saint Vincent it's true I fucking love Saint Vincent I thought this was a great album I wrote it off a little bit towards the beginning of the year but the more I listened to it the more I was into it you I think Saint Vincent is insanely talented this is another album that maybe if I spent more time with it I think I would like it better I probably didn't give it enough of a fair chance next work how dare you I'm not surprised she made the list and now number one number one James because two of us had it at number one best album of the year it is J pegra by Gary Clark he deserves it yeah absolutely I'm gonna do it's the best album blame it on the count grow up should we talk about our top five probably favorites guys everybody have five nobody have any honorable mentions or anything I cut it down to five five favorite albums of 2024 we're gonna start with the evil you know it's a little album called an absolute what a plantation is that a jazz band I think I talked about this I did talk about this the dose evil of evil it it's like making not just metal album of the year list but album is that a blood incantation yeah a lot of lists that I get it they're flipping out about it it's challenging but it's an amazing album I did have an honorable mention we talked about this album I don't remember if it was the what did we miss or the quick fire we talked about it and you had such a similar outlook on it is me when I first heard this album I thought no question album of the year holy fucking shit and then it lost me and gained me and lost me my honorable mention is grafe by zeal and art or what I will say about this album is wow I get it now I get the zeal and art or it's not one of my five of the year kill nova is my favorite song of the year so it's I get it my number five album of the year and I want everybody to know that I did a a list an equation the first thing it is I listen to the albums all the way through I need three cards and did a little bit of a rating and then I also listen the albums and did every single song one through four stars one is a shitty song two is a you can ignore it song three is a great song four is an out is a song of the year song and I came up with these equations and they all fit magically it's brilliant I just want you all to know how much I go through trying to see the albums of the year my number five is mannequin pussies I got heaven that album fucking rocks it's punk and it's not amazing perfect chick rock and I fucking love it and it's rad and that's my number five you go slavia my number five you guys hate so I'll just go real fast a short and sweet it is just a really fun album number four I went with she's already done it's short and sweet by Sabrina Carpenter yeah so fast number four is chroma copia wow okay just a banger of an album I know how to create art and and that's what it is it is just pure fucking art every time it's great it's fantastic my number four surprising but man did it grow on me and it kept growing on me I didn't think it was gonna be on my top five until a week or two ago no surprise to send it is tanked by idols the album is so different from anything that they've done the past three years and production wise of course you have the radio head and all that stuff I fucking love it I think it's brilliant and that's it that's the it's tank evil what is your number four before we call him in late in the year I was looking forward to it so I listened to blood and content a lot of stuff on the way to the gary cart made Missoula okay and this guy popped up and Megan and I were both like who is this why is he so good wins and oh my god yeah did I win so sorry well why is this any nine-volt character so good and oh my god he has a new album coming out which came out and we love it so he like opened for Gary Clark you did not it was just in like this happened story we were trying to figure out who was opening for Gary Clark because it wasn't on the Kettlehouse play though okay a couple of shows earlier it was one other guy and then Eddie nine volt and then we looked him up and sort of listening to his music like holy buckets who's in three it is bow and their album umbilical I bet that's metal it is very metal but you have anything it's super metal super metal the cop made early on in the year I didn't know anything about him but album's fantastic love it it's very gonna sludge ease you're sludge metal I like it what's your what's your deal dear my number three I didn't think this was gonna happen but I was lucky enough to meet him went well because they're amazing this band is fucking phenomenal the writing is impeccable but the biggest thing to me about this album is how flawless the production is how every single guitar note piano vocal run so perfectly amazingly beautifully produced and it is arms by sand for me that album it I didn't think it was gonna happen we covered them in tree we covered them in tree for it it was great I saw on a promotion or something that they can't they re-came out with their vinyl this was like three months later it's like I'll buy it yeah for sure and I got the vinyl and I turned it on and I was just fucking blown away absolutely blown away that album is fucking incredible arms by sand for mean I am such a massive fan from this point forward that is my number three what about you girl my number three is a flight B741 by King gizzard wizards wizards I know that they just like do you throw darts at a genre dart board yeah but this is like all in the same category roll your eyes as Greta it is my dad's music for me like in this generation so mad and so it just makes me happy to have some like 70s rock now in 2024 that's just for me that's pretty high up that is really high up do you want to know what my next one up is we think it is Sabrina Carpenter taste and sweet and low fuck off it was already on the list it's actually society no that's number one it is the great American bar scene I'm a good friend Zach Ryan okay it's a good album it's a great album he's a great writer I can't say it enough can't quit it I can't quit you can't quit you can't quit Zach Brian know I was holding my cards a little close to the chest I love every single song it is prelude to ecstasy by the last dinner party that has been on a lot of lists yeah holy fuck that album is unreal it was like a millimeter away from me my favorite album I love it so much those chicks fucking made such a good album that is my two bag evil what is yours and are how shamed are you of my not a shame I have gone back and listen to their previous stuff and it is resonating more with me now they're doing it man they were going for nightmare metal and they hit it they hit it perfectly hard can we guess can we guess what is number one is I feel like I don't know I kind of feel like I would have said chat pile I will - I have a guess what's your guess I have no guess nails who nails is gonna be an honorable okay okay let's find out in season two to five to five 20 years yeah what's your number one bro well I tried really hard not to overlap our best coffee oh it's japig raw it's japig raw it is that makes me happy that that album is probably played in our house most of it in the other album yeah and we drove to see I had a really hard time leaving japig raw off my top five half a year into the year it was like not a question on my it was my number one something about it started fading and it's not even in my top five anymore I yeah I'm embarrassed and you should be proud I think like seeing him why I'm sure there's just that album and it's might be a good thing that album is not like he's a fucking guitar god and it's not a guitar god album no no yeah which is badass but I don't know any guesses on my fave has it's brain a carpenter I leave quite an impression I'm short and I like things and then I do I'm close right we haven't even talked about it this year really then I know oh oh oh oh from December yeah listen fucker the album came out with a beautiful vinyl there are two versions there of course there are yes no you don't know hang on hang on fucking hang on there are two mixes okay he mixed it two different ways and came out with two different vinyls for the two different mixes he had a piece of art published to go with every single song in the booklet so when you're listening to the song you have the art to look at and honestly every song is just so well thought out he put years into it which is very obvious it's your favorite and it's mine it is I.O. by Peter Gabriel the album is fucking it's perfect it's so fun and that's my favorite and much like Adam everybody clicks off the shit and it's mad at my album here it's my name Rach what's your album the year please why is it Taylor Swift my album of the year is stampede awful Peck seriously I thought that was that album to me was practically perfect it was so fucking good in every way much like Peter Peter Mary Poppins yes I hate it when people just bring all their friends on an album very often I just feel like it is a cheap way out that man did such a good job of picking people and blending genres so so so beautifully okay yeah that was just a great album Wow I think almost every song was just do you feel weird that Taylor Swift came out with an album in a year that it wasn't year out of the year I mean I feel like I could have known by the opinion that I gave when we reviewed it that's season 4 of 2024 that was a great transition we're done we're drunk it's been a while some surprises some not surprises we saw it come we didn't see it coming we love you guys season 5 it's coming up it's gonna be a little different and a little better right and your cross spend a
