[ Silence ] >> There's a dream that lives deep in every heart. You don't stop that name, but you sleep in their heart. And it's worth the sweat, and it's worth the pain. Because the chance may never come again. Give it all you got is worth it. And take your best shot. The barbers give the sight. Stand up for the giants. To the slip and the storm. Go to play with pride. In the dance, in the sky. In the spirit of the day. There's no place in the song at all. But the chance may never come again. And you don't know. And it's time to get along. Okay. [ Music ] >> David down on his knees. And Bouchard goes back after him. They all look gassed in the Edmonton white. Remarkable job to force a game 7. They run out of magic, digging out of holes all season. The shot slides in the head. It's wide. 30 seconds to go. One last gasp for Edmonton. Bouchard's pass didn't click the tri-cycle. 12 seconds to go. Florida tried to end it up against the wall. Three seconds to go. [ Music ] [ Cheering ] [ Music ] >> Hello, and welcome to the ice sky. This is the soul that takes you into the world of the national hockey league. Every game, every day, from a very perspective. With pro sports handicappers, Ian Cameron, Alex B. Smith, and various guests from the world of hockey and sports betting. And now, here's your host, Ian Cameron. [ Music ] >> Welcome to the ice guys presented by Boston Hemp Inc. The season finale of the ice guys show. It is Tuesday, June 25th. The NHL season has come to an end. And the Florida Panthers, for the first time in franchise history, are Stanley Cup champions. Ian Cameron, Matt Robinson. We're waiting on Alex B. Smith. I have not heard from him today. And I'm hoping he hasn't slept through something. But we're hoping he's going to be popping in here before the end of this show. But the show must go on. It's the season finale edition of the ice guys. And we are excited to be here to wrap up this season. It's been a long season, as you could imagine, with the Stanley Cup final ending on Monday, June 24th. But the season did come to an end last night in a very dramatic, very tense, and ultimately very exciting, game seven, between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup final. Matt Robinson, by the way, who -- and I don't blame him in the slightest for this -- blew off the betcast last night in order to be with the buddies of his in the area there to hang out for a little party to watch a game seven. But I told him, don't feel bad. I probably would have done the same damn thing. So I'd have to pull the plug on the whole betcast if I decided, I'm not going to show up. But I would have done the same thing. I mean, party with the fellas and watching game seven. That sounds like a fucking good time to me. And especially when you're talking about a scenario where he's behind the half the betcast crew on the live feed of the game. So from that standpoint, made all the more sense in the world for Matt to be there last night. But Matt, good to have you. It's been a great season. Instead of me rambling for five, 10, 15 minutes, which I often can do about the game, we'll start with you. Your thoughts about last night and the Florida Panthers winning their first Stanley Cup. Yeah. Yes. So last night was a good time. We were just at one of the local sports bars, probably about 15 of us. Guys, I play men's league with senior. I would just kind of a random group. It ended up how it worked out. It wasn't that they weren't invited, but it ended up being no significant others. Just the boys having some burgers and watching the game. But yeah, yeah, it was nice not being behind for once. I think when Alex is, is bargain bin hit on that verhage goal? I think I responded on Twitter before anyone else said anything. So for, for once I was right there on the timeline instead of, you know, being two minutes behind like I am at my place. So, so that was nice. But, but yeah, obviously, obviously a great game. You know, we, it was a weird series. You know, I, I, I never really lost faith in Florida. I honestly wish I had lost faith in Florida a little bit because I kept taking them when they were losing. You know, after game four, I was like, all Florida's going to win a game five no doubt. Okay, they lost at home, but they're going to win against Edmonton. So I kind of wish I would have lost a little faith, but at the end, you know, I had them to win the series. So that was the biggest play I had going yesterday. I had a couple of little prop bets that, that obviously missed. I think, I think my best bet was no goals in the first 10 minutes. I think the first 10 saves, first 10 shots. And obviously Yanmark shut that down real quick. So that didn't work out well. So. But yeah, honestly, you know, what more can you ask for in a game seven? I did say before the show, I think it Florida wins. It's an under type game. I thought if Edmonton, you know, was going to pull, pull through, it was going to probably be an over type game. The first period showed all signs of overcoming and then, you know, there was just one goal the rest of the way. So what else can you ask for? And I know we touched on this before the show, but it looks like they're having a hell of a time down in Florida right now. I really, you know, I'm sitting in my desk here. Sitting in my desk here in Reno. It's kind of a cloudy day. Cold calling people and I'm just seeing all these videos of these guys partying up on the beach. I'm just so jealous. I wish I could hop on a flight and just pretend to be a Panthers fan for the day because I feel like it's got to be rocking down long. But yeah, it was a long season. Obviously went as long as it possibly could with a game seven in the Stanley Cup finals, but as a hockey fan, what else can you ask for? It was an awesome year. And I know we touched on it before the show as well, but draft is on Friday. So we don't really get a huge, huge gap of what's next with hockey. And then next week you've got the free agency stuff going on. So it'll seem like it's right back in it. And then, you know, here in a couple of weeks, it'll really hit that, you know, we got to wait till October to get going again. But yeah, overall great season. It's been awesome to be a part of the ice guys for it. You know, this was obviously my first year to kind of jump in and it was mid season, but it's been an awesome experience. Yeah, we will get to that a little bit more after later in the show when we'll talk about the season that it was for the show itself. And obviously you joining the crew here on a fairly regular basis here throughout the second half of the season, but getting back to Florida winning last night and wrapping up the Stanley Cup. Pomerice and we're going to, this is going to become the Pomerice celebration show in a few minutes because I'm going to run multiple clips and there's lengthy clips. But he is, he's the person, it's not even close. He's the person I feel greatest for and happiest for when it comes to winning this Stanley Cup for the Florida Panthers. He's been at this for 30 years as an NHL head coach. Well, 26 seasons, but 30 years pretty much since he got that first. There was a couple of years he didn't coach, but absolutely grinded at this job for 30 years. He's coached the most games in the Stanley Cup, sorry, the most games in the NHL before winning his first Stanley Cup in NHL history. And almost 2,000 NHL games coached for Pomerice before winning his first Stanley Cup last night. He's one of the most incredible sound bites in the NHL coaching wise currently and maybe of all time with the way he's had these just memorable moments and quotes throughout the Stanley Cup playoff run this year for the Florida Panthers. He's extremely intelligent. He's incredibly articulate and well-spoken. And somehow some way he got his team back on the beam last night. Back to playing Florida Panthers hockey. Do you know how much of a fucking mental gymnastics test that was for him and the Panthers? Because your mind can wander in a lot of different places. When you have a 3-0 lead in a Stanley Cup final, lose 3 straight games on top of losing in the Stanley Cup final to the Vegas Golden Knights last year, getting this close last year and losing. And somehow Pomerice was able to reign everybody in, clear the mental deck and get that team performing optimal in the biggest game of the season. And he deserves credit for that. The players of course deserve credit for that. That they were able to park 18-5 Edmonton in three consecutive games in this series prior to game seven. And instead come out that way last night, get back to Panthers hockey. Take the body. Physical play. Relentless on the four check. Just punish Edmonton players all over the ice. Close time and space. Keep a good gap. Forward's helping the D. Just no time and space whatsoever for both Connor McDavid and Leon Dreycidal in particular last night in game seven. And keep in mind this is the so-called best player in the world who had a eight point explosion for the Edmonton Oilers in game four and in game five of this series. And last night there was not that one single moment. And this is what I'm going to look back on Matt as far as to how and why Florida won game seven and wrapped it up and won the cup last night. Where was that moment for you, Matt, that you saw Connor McDavid dance end to end, move make a move around a couple of policemen, have a brilliant chance on net and make that big play. Where was that last night? You didn't see it. He didn't have that one single moment where, wow, Connor McDavid doing things that only he could do. He didn't. He didn't have one moment like that last night in probably the game of his career and this is not to say McDavid joked and this is not to say McDavid didn't play well or didn't come to play. He obviously wanted it as bad as anybody. He was devastated much like his teammates after losing last night. This is all about. I think it's twofold. One is you got to give all the credit to Florida defensively. Again, they closed time in space. They didn't give him any room out there to maneuver. And the key is, and I know Ray Ferraro who is an incredible, incredible analyst for ABC ESPN. He said this multiple times. You have to get Connor McDavid skating sideways. You can't let him go north so you can't have him have that straight line drive up and down the ice because that is where you the defense panics and that's where, you know, he has the chance to really beat you. You know, they made him skate east to west side to side. And that kept him in a position where all of a sudden the forward back checking can get to him because he's not going to beat that forward back checking because you're going making him go east west, not this way north south. It was a huge, huge component in why Florida defensively last night was so good on number 97 in that game. You've got to obviously give them all the crap. Eckblad was a complete and utter fucking beast last night. Tower of power, pillar of strength on that blue line last night for the Florida Panthers. They all played a great game. Don't get me wrong. Montour was good. Mecolo was good on the blue line. Forsling who had a great block shot on dry side who had a, I think that was probably his best chance of the game when it looked like he had an open side of the net. I didn't know if Bob was going to get there in time, but Forsling fork in the road, stick in the road, basically boarded that opportunity for dry side. But that collective defensive effort, Matt, swarming and spifling both Connor McDavid and Leon dry side. All entered into a lesser extent, Zach Hyman, who also had a pretty quiet night for the Edmonton Oilers. That's what got it done. And when there was a great chance and it got to the net, the puck, goalie Bob was there. And Sergey Babrovsky, after getting quite frankly lit up in game four, game five and game six after being almost unbeatable early in the series and for both of the playoffs, he found it. He found his game again in game seven and we're going to look back on the decision collectively that the Florida panthers made on Sunday when it was their practice. Did not even have Sergey Babrovsky show up for that. Not even take the ice. Just say, you know what, Bob? Take the day off. Rest. Get yourself in whatever mental frame of mind you need to be in to perform at peak. Your peak to get your peak performance out of you for game seven. And that decision, I think, for him to not even see the ice on Sunday also helped get goalie Bob back to the level of play that quite frankly he has had for the majority of this year's playoffs and last year's playoffs. When we, if you remember last year when they made the run to the final against Vegas, the final was rough for him. But in the first three series of last year's playoffs too, he was magnificent in net for the Florida panthers. And for the most part of this year's playoffs, the Tampa series, the Boston series, the New York Rangers series, certainly the first few games of this series. Let's not forget he stole game one for the Florida panthers here in the Stanley Cup final. Edmonton definitely outplayed Florida in game one, but Sergey Babrovsky was just incredible outstanding and a brick wall in that game. That's what I'm going to take away from this series, Matt, especially taking away from game seven last night. The collective defensive effort by the team, including Sergey Babrovsky on Conor McDavid and Leon Drey's title, to have two guys of that caliber, Matt, have that kind of minimal, almost negligible impact in a game seven, a game of that magnitude cup on the line. You can't say enough about the way Florida defended them. Yeah, no doubt. And also we talked about it on the show yesterday, but you've got, you had guys on Florida that were having quiet series that showed up in game seven when it mattered. And that's what it comes down to in those game sevens. There's oftentimes goals from guys like Janmark that nobody had. Nobody had him to score Edmonton's only goal in a game seven, but that is what happens at a time. Sometimes you get these depth guys, you know, a Corey Perry type of guy that gets a big goal in a game seven, but for Florida, Hagee came out and scored early. You know, that was a sick play for Florida. They did give it up. You know, it was tied pretty quickly after that. And then, you know, they were able to bounce back, but I think, you know, they, I know Barkov didn't, you know, have two goals or, you know, do anything crazy, but I did think he had a good game. I noticed him a lot more than like a McDavid or Drey's title last night. And again, to your point, it's not to say that McDavid choked or, you know, gave it away, but he just, he looked more human out there. And I think it's more credit to Florida, you know, than the fault of McDavid. I think, you know, that's something Florida did pretty well neutralizing him early in the series. And then, you know, obviously he went on this explosion and then, you know, good teams make adjustments. And I think that's, to Paul Maurice's credit, to the team's credit, to guys like Ekblad. I mean, E2 had a sick block shot there with about two minutes left that, you know, might have saved a goal. You mentioned Hyman being kind of not noticeable. He had that chance back door and Florida was able to kind of collapse to the net. It just seemed like the last five minutes Florida. They did an outstanding job of parking the bus in a sense that there was Edmonton shots coming from left and right, but nothing was really getting on net. You know, they were blocking shots. There was three guys there grabbing sticks, you know, things like that. So, but again, it, it, it comes down to adjustments. That's the reason it's, that's the reason there's seven games. You know, that's what I love about hockey and it's not a one and done. You know, you really get to see these coaches, you know, some teams will go up 2-0 and then, you know, blow it and lose in six games. And you're like, clearly the other coach just figured out what they were doing, neutralized it. And then the other coach wasn't able to respond. So this was obviously a great series. I mean, I can't remember a series going 3-0 to 3-3 to the team that was up 3-0 winning. I don't know what's happened, but I'm not, I don't know if that exact route has happened in the finals, but yeah, it was obviously awesome to see. You know, and again, I think, I think Florida was the better team going into this series. And I think they proved it in the long run, you know, despite having a couple games that were obviously not what they had hoped for. That game 4, even game 1, but, you know, that's why the playoffs are the way they are and Bob stole game 1 and, you know, Edmonton wins 8-1. But then, you know, what really matters is who finishes game 7. So, um, shouts to them. It was obviously an awesome series and it's always cool to me when a team gets close or that far and then, you know, comes back pretty quickly and gets it done. Because, you know, those guys going into game 7 were like, if we don't do it this year, like, we're probably never going to win one. So, um, especially, you know, some of the older guys that we talked about. I'll post on the show yesterday. You know, awesome for that guy. I mean, to get healthy, scratched in game 6, you get back in the lineup. It's clearly, you know, more of a leadership locker room type situation. I thought he had some good shifts, though. I mean, he didn't play big minutes, but, um, I noticed him a little bit out there before checking, trying to make a hit, trying to block a shot. You know, that's, that's what you need out of guys like that. So, um, yeah, it was, it was awesome to see. Yeah. And I think I know what you mean. You mentioned E2, our buddy Cool Mint Loosterine, and as we like to call him, he's probably the, he's the guy I think that had that. We was diving in front of the puck. I think it was with three minutes, right? Left in the third period. There's that scramble and Bob was on his keyster at the time. Like he was on his backside. Down on his ass on, in, in the crease there. He wasn't even on his skates on his feet. And there's Florida with like hit, Loosterine and someone else too, just diving to block the shot to, you know, doing anything to try to get a piece of it. If that's not showing you what it takes to win a Stanley Cup, I don't know what will. Uh, and it's, it was just an, that's, that's Florida in a nutshell. The heart, the gut, the gumption, the character, the guts, the do anything attitude. And really the team like attitude, they don't care who gets the credit. They don't care who scores the big goal. They don't. It's a complete and utter team effort. Uh, they play as a team. Uh, they have a family like environment. And that's again not to say that Edmonton didn't. Um, but Florida to me played as really a collective. They've really, you can say, I think outside of Vegas last year. But at last year, Vegas was the best team. But I think if you combine the two seasons together. This year and last year. You could make a damn good case and a really good argument that Florida's been the best team in the NHL. Getting to the Stanley Cup final last year, even though they lost and then getting back there again. After the heartbreak of last year to have the mental fortitude and power to just say, you know what? We can do this again after the disappointment of last year. We can get back there. And to not only get back there, but then. Have that three nothing lead disappear. Go to game seven and you think it could just slip right through your fingers all over again. And you reel it in and you win game seven last night. It tells you just how fucking mentally strong this group is. The Florida Panthers. And they definitely put that on display last night. I feel bad for Skinner. Stewart Skinner. He played really good. Can't fault him. I can't even blame him on the eventual game winning cup winning goal by Sam Reinhardt that made it two to one. I definitely think he was screened. I don't think you can clearly decisively say that Stewart Skinner saw that puck. And I know it was short side and the first thing you see when it's a short side goal is he should have had it. But I definitely do not think he saw that puck off the stick of Sam Reinhardt. And when that happens, you know, it's going to be tough for the goalie to make that kind of a save. But nevertheless, like I said, Florida, an outstanding performance, they brought their absolute best in game seven last night. Getting that victory over the Edmonton Oilers in that game. And keep in mind too, another thing regarding last night too with Florida. They're big players at the step up. They're best players at the step up because let's be real. You know, a lot of them have been underwhelming as far as producing is concerned. Specifically, two guys could chalkhead his big moment in game five. You know, we got on the board and tried to spur the comeback that fell short. And I think could chalkhead a, you know, all right, Sierra. He didn't have a phenomenal series, but he had an all right series. But the two guys that had really been non factors going into game seven last night for the Florida Panthers were Carter Veragie and Sam Reinhardt. And wouldn't you fucking know it? Who got the first? Who got the only two goals for the Florida Panthers last night? In winning game seven in their first Stanley Cup, Carter Veragie and Sam Reinhardt. The two guys that needed to get it going and find a way, you're talking about a guy that scored, you know, 50 goals this season more than that in Sam Reinhardt. You're talking about a Carter Veragie who has had multiple big moments in the playoffs and offensive, you know, scoring big goals and big moments in the last two years combined. And definitely those were the two guys you wanted to hear something from last night. And sure enough, they both get on the board and shout out to Alex B Smith. Like I said, I have, he has not responded to me sending them the link for the show here today. So I'm wondering if he's just totally poached and look, he was going to be on the show today and tell you that he's been battling a lot personally and physically like he is not. He's mangled physically. I can tell you that right now. So you have to have some sympathy for him if he's not going to miss this show. And I know it's probably going to kill him if he to miss this. But like I said, he's been battling through. It's been a battle for him just to be on the shows he's been on the last few weeks as we wrap up the NHL season. But shout out to Alex for the call on Carter Veragie last night. He used it for Haiti to score a goal as his best bet at plus two thirty and also first goal, you know, at plus a fourteen hundred last night. And what an unbelievable selection that was. Especially to have the guts to take someone that had been ultra quiet in the in the final here in Carter Veragie who had kind of lost his offensive way a little bit to be able to say, you know what, put that aside, he'll step up. It's game seven at home and he's had a lot of good moments at home. And Carter Veragie sure enough first ten minutes gets that first goal of the game and gets Florida started the right way. What a way to end the bargain bin special the night segment, Matt. I mean, we've talked about how great it was to bring that segment onto the show this year for the very first time. Fitting with just the incredible success we've had and the number of plus price wagers and winners we have cashed with the bargain bin this year that we have won more to wrap up the season last night. In game seven. Yeah, no doubt. What a way to go out and not just your typical, you know, plus three oh five plus three fifty. I think he got in at like fourteen hundred. So that was awesome to see for over Haiti first goal. And I, you know, again, he even doubled down his best best was just any time goal and, you know, eat what he sweat like six minutes of the game before it happened like wild to see so. Yeah, I mean, that's it. It's an awesome segment again. You know, I've, I've seen some of the, some of the chat. Come back sometimes and like, oh, you know, nice call and that bargain and it's like, hey, these are long shots like we're not. You know, if you win two or three bargain bins a week on a seven game scale like that's a pretty good week because they're, you know, such high odds. So, yeah, Alex has been great. And like I mentioned, I, if Alex takes a bargain bin that's three ten I never take it because I'm like, yeah, he's his are like the first goal ones that it's like, all right, I've got to take it because they always seem to hit. So I don't know how many over plus 1000 he did have hit this year, but it's got to be at least three or four that I can remember so. So yeah, no doubt. I mean, it was just absolutely a great call there to wrap up a great season with the bargain bin. Best bet for me was no sweat with this SGP, which I used for my game seven best bet with Florida plus two and a half Edmonton plus two and a half and under six and a half at minus one ten. That ended up cashing in so nice to cash one last best bet as well at the end of the season so nice, nice result to end game seven overall the Florida Stanley Cup futures despite the sweat, they end up getting home. And now the celebration can begin in Florida. They've announced the parade is going to be on Sunday, by the way, for the Florida Panthers Stanley Cup Championship parade. But I want to get to one more and look, I'm happy for Matthew Kuchuck and the card over Haiti and the players, happy for Kyle on post so what a long career he's had. And he gets to finally celebrate the Stanley Cup Championship for the first time in his career, but Paul Maurice, man, and leave it to Paul Maurice to give us some more audio gems last night. He did two interviews after the during the cup, you know, celebration on the ice. One was with Emily Kaplan on ABC, and it was a pretty good interview to like he doesn't do a bad interview anymore. This guy, Paul Maurice. I mean, that's how much of an incredibly charismatic wordsmith he has become. But the interview he did with Kyle Bukoskis on Sportsnet in Canada, that interview is going to go down, I think, as an all time post Stanley Cup victory interview. And I'm going to play it for you right now because if you didn't see it, it is absolutely, it gives you chills down your spine. Here it is, Paul Maurice on Sportsnet after winning the cup last night. Okay, alongside Paul Maurice Paul, you said you needed to win one and you've got one now. So what's it feel like? It's just brilliant, right? It's I've never hugged so many sweaty men in my entire life. I'm not sure I'm going to do it again, but I'm going to do it tonight. So, you know, it's not what I thought it would be. It's so much better. But it's the hugs, man. It's the I saw Sam Bennett smile today. First time the two years. It's brilliant. You know, it's for my mom and dad in Stu St. Marie, Ontario. My brothers Mike and Shane in Stu St. Marie and Waterloo. The whole Angloys Cland and the Sal Ontario, all of the people that suffered through 30 years. I mean, lives and they can excuses mom and dad, especially. Hey, dad, your name's going up with your heroes. Vellible the shard, pal Lindsey Maurice. Last one for you. After your time in Winnipeg, you were prepared for a career in fishing, but I wonder if there is a better catch than Lord Stan. Well, I was just lucky. You know what? It was it was. So if I could have one thing more, it'd be for the Winnipeg Jets. So we're the next day like that. Well, congratulations. Thanks Scott. What can you say? There's no words to add on to that. That's just that's one of the all time. Great. Emotional speaking from straight from the heart as Brian Adams straight from the heart, Brian Adams back in the day saying that that's what that was from Paul Maurice and plus a few, you know, chuckles as he often can provide during that as well. But Matt, I mean, that's just that's just that's just interview gold right there. Yeah, his interviews, as you mentioned all season have been amazing, but you figure some bit from that interview right there will be in the next like history will be made commercial at some point. You know, one of the one of the NHL like heading into the playoffs commercials like something out of that they're going to clip and put into one of the next commercials like you'd have to think so. And if the Winnipeg Jets are in the finals next year, they'll play that clip a thousand times over again. Yeah. Yeah, that he speaks that into existence that Winnipeg wins the Stanley Cup. Well, if you believe in it, it's 25 and we will get to a little peek into the future with the futures board for 2024 2025. Early leans for who wins the Stanley Cup next year in just a moment. But one last and I'm not going to play the whole thing. It's like almost seven minutes. But if another Paul Maurice interview you have to see if you haven't watched it already is the one he did with SVP on Sports Center. After the game last night, it was tremendous as well. But the one moment had me absolutely laughing my ass off. And, you know, only Paul could give me give us this kind of moment here. This was with Scott Bampelt on ESPN Sports Center last night after the championship victory for his Florida Panthers. But it was just another one of those deals where only Paul Maurice could come up with something that clever in the in the spur of the moment. And here we go right now with this from last night with the interview with Paul after the Stanley Cup win. But the trophy doesn't define how I treat the people around me. But I'm also going to skate the hell out of these guys in training camp because I got carte blanche now I can do whatever the hell I want. You sure can. And as a final camp coming up boys. Get it up. The great comment there. Yeah. I've won the cup now. If I'm going to turn training camp next year into an absolute torture chamber. I've got the ability to do that. And then in the press conference after the game he had another beauty where he said after 30 years of losing and coming up short in the Stanley Cup. He compared his window like the Sarah McLaughlin commercials in Canada for animal cruelty and suffering animals saying it's almost like the God said you know what 30 years. This is painful and pitiful to watch this guy coaching this long not winning a Stanley Cup and they decided finally let's give him one. Oh man. He is a quote machine Paul Maurice and like I said of all people that winning the cup for Florida and I'm happy for a little long go as well in the front office. And I know that's Eddie lacks good friend and Eddie on the who joined us on the bet cast briefly last night mentioned how happy he would be for a birdal of wango last night when in the cup. So happy for him. But especially Paul Maurice like I said 30 years of coaching in the NHL almost 2000 games coached in the National Hockey League. And now finally the man can call himself Stanley Cup champion and I don't want to hear any debate. He is in the Hall of Fame. It's not even an issue now or not even a question at this point in time. If he wasn't already he's Hall of Fame bound. And I think you can say the same about Sergei Biprovsky now with him winning the Stanley Cup, multiple Vesna trophies throughout his career as well that he's got to be in the Stanley Cup now. Sorry in the Hall of Fame now after winning his first Stanley Cup. All right, that's our look back at this and this past season just from a betting standpoint overall profitable nothing like Alex who had an all time great NHL betting season. But I had a profitable season 1800 profit overall plus 1.8 units plus 2.8 units in the regular season plus 1.8 units or minus 1.0 units in the plate of playoffs were kind of disappointing. And that's what the futures went to and are still down in the playoffs. So the playoffs were kind of disappointing that we couldn't do better. But overall profitable season in the NHL and I will never never be disappointed with a profitable season. I don't care how much it is. And certainly the Florida Stanley Cup futures helped that out. So profitable season can't complain and to Alex who mentioned it yesterday one of the all time great betting seasons that he has had in his NHL. And his sports handicap in career. So great stuff indeed. Before we wrap up the show and say our grand goodbyes. We do want to take a peek ahead to next year. And it is indeed the Stanley Cup futures board for 2024 2020 file. Let me see if I can make this bigger. There we go. This is bet 365 I'm using. Of course most books have it now. But there it is Edmonton top of the board plus 700 right now at bet 365. Are they going to be this year next year's Florida get to the final and lose get back to the final next year and win it. Who knows but they are the favorite as of now to win the Stanley Cup next season at 700 750 at other books. So Edmonton the top of the board Matt Robinson's Dallas stars not far behind at plus 900 Carolina Hurricanes plus 900 Florida Panthers back to back plus 900 if you believe they can reap. 10 to 1 for the Colorado Avalanche. How about the New Jersey Devils get some respect around here 10 to 1 for a team that didn't even make the damn playoffs this year. And there they are the sixth favorite on the betting board to win the Stanley Cup next year at 10 to 1. Look what a Jacob Markstrom can do. Now you got some gold tending and look at the respect the Devils are suddenly getting New York Rangers 12 to 1 Toronto Maple Leafs 15 to 1 you might as well put your money in the incinerator if you're going to bet that. Vancouver 15 to 1 Vegas 16 to 1 Boston Bruins 20 to 1 Winnipeg Jets 25 to 1 Kings 25 Tampa Bay 30 Detroit 33 Islanders 35 sends 35 Preds 35 to 1. Pittsburgh 40 to 1 Buffalo 40 to 1 St Louis 45 to 1 Philly 45 Minnesota 55 Seattle 60 Calgary 66 Montreal 80 Washington 80 Utah hockey club 80 to 1. I think they're going to have just that's what they're going to be called in the first season is just the Utah hockey club before they get the official name Columbus 125 to 1 Anaheim 150 to 1 Chicago 150 to 1 San Jose bringing up the rear is expected 300 to 150 to 1. Of course Utah hockey club, the artist formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes. My first thought as to what I'm interested in and again I want to see free agency play out but if you're going to give me someone that's got a little value right now. A little bang for their buck as far as Stanley Cup futures for next season are concerned. I'm going to be Mr. It's long shot obviously, but Ottawa with now getting all Mark helps them immensely they finally got a legit goaltender. You know it's a team that I think they got add on the blue line a little bit they got a hope obviously Shabbat and others stay healthy, but yeah Ottawa Detroit at 33 to 1. I think definitely those two teams in the Atlantic, you know if I'm going to look at longer shots if I'm going to pick a favorite. I can't take Edmonton at plus 700 even though it's well within their capacity to get back to the final and maybe win it this year when you've got a Connor McDavid on your team. But I'd I don't mind Dallas plus 900. I was hoping for better from New Jersey then 10 to 1. I don't think there's great value on New Jersey I was open for better price than that. I do think they could be as you see in this futures board they could be one of the most improved teams in the NHL next year just because everything fell apart this year and I do expect them to the very least be a playoff team. Next season in the first year under Sheldon Keith as head coach. So the devil's but I was hoping for better price than that really the one that stand to that stand out to me or the Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators for longer shot. I'm going to look at a favorite Dallas plus 900. Maybe give the Rangers another go at 12 to 1 just because you do have Igor Shastirkin there and they've been buzzing around the cup and Peter Lavi let's a winning head coach. Those are the two that would stand out a little bit to me as far as that's concerned. Vegas at 16 to 1 I'll say this maybe there's even a touch of value with them because they're built to win a Stanley Cup you know with the roster composition, even if they have to fudge the CBA to do it. Matt what do you think here Stanley Cup futures for next season anything just we're not saying bets we're not saying we're betting this. We're saying things we're kind of leaning with right now as far as some value based on what current odds are. Yeah, first thing I do want to mention just for the chat make sure you shop around with these because some of mine are way higher than yours some of mine are way lower than yours so they're all different. So if you really like a team you know make sure you shop around and try and find the better odds but like for example I've got New Jersey here. On the vada plus 1400 so little better odds and what you're looking at it at 365 so make sure you look around if there's a team you want but yeah. You know I think like on mine I've got Edmonton plus 900. You know that isn't a bad look if you think they come back. I don't know if I lean Edmonton they would have to make some moves. I think you know Skinner played great down the stretch but I just think there's some question marks they also have that darn all nurse contract with it is going to haunt them for for years to come so. But yeah I think was it the Kings that you mentioned throwing money in the incinerator was that because I definitely know Toronto I'm taking Kingston is the playoffs. Yeah Toronto same thing but I've got Kings here is like the seventh best odds in this board and I think I want to take Kingston is the playoffs I just think. They've got too many question marks I think they'll be good in the long run you know they've got some young talent but. Seems odd to me that they're that high obviously you know I'm a big Dallas fan but being. You never really want to take one of the number one or two teams especially if you're a fan of them because it's like. You know I'd rather wait maybe Dallas goes on a cold you're tying up your money. Yeah I mean if I felt Dallas had a real shot and it was plus 5000 you know maybe I'd throw a little mini unit on it just because the odds are so high but. You know the other thing to keep in mind is if you do like a Florida and Edmonds and a Dallas a Colorado you know and you can get them to start slow. You know maybe they're middle of the pack in November December you're going to get a lot better odds later on so. Also something to consider I mean if if you think the sharks are going to win the cup go ahead and take them because if they start winning some games it's they're not going to be plus. 30,000 for very long but you know I think if you're if you're thinking the sharks are going to win the cup you might also just not want to sports but. For a little while but yeah I mean I think I think the red wings are definitely a team I would I would look at is like maybe a stretch pick. You know I think I think Vancouver is a team that you know they're kind of middle pack on mine and I wouldn't be shocked if there's a lot of love that goes back. There's a lot of love Matt for Vancouver in the chat and I'm I'm a wait and see on them. Because I think if they have a good free agency season and they get some pieces back and they maybe bring as a door out back. Do they get Genssel when you know if Genssel's been linked to Vancouver a little bit that would be a huge get for them. I'd be interested in Vancouver if they make some of those moves but I'm kind of taking a wait and see and plus I want to see if Demko you know gets the full bill of health for next season. And if all those things happen I might add Vancouver to the portfolio too but I want to see what kind of free agency you know season they have first. No doubt that's that's a big factor for me as well kind of. Well again you're tying up your money but it's also like a lot can change you know I'm going to use Dallas as an example because that's who I follow. You know if TANF doesn't resign I bet their odds move to 10 or 11 to 1 like just over you know a key piece like that so. You know you want to see where your teams at again if you're on the top two or three teams you may want to wait and then see if they have a slower start to the season a lot of times. You'll see teams that are true contenders not take it easy at the beginning of the year but you know you just rarely see a team dominate from game one to game 82 and then when a cup. You know Boston was a great example of that they did dominate from game one to game 82 two seasons ago and then you know we're done in the first round so. Yeah I think I think there's a lot of factors to look at I mean again the only ones that really stick out I think the Troy isn't a bad look. You know maybe you think Nashville gets a couple good oh that's literally I wasn't even looking at this screen but. There's one of our comments like the red wings and the predators and you know what look they surprise this year I didn't expect Nashville to make the playoffs this year but I think we find out Andrew Burnett's a pretty good coach. And you know you've still got sorrows you've still got a dynamic top line that you that you had all year with Forsberg O'Reilly auto parts and Nyquist. You need a little more depth and punch in the bottom six that to me is going to be the key need a little more forward depth and a little more offensive punch from that bottom six group. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. You know some of the some of the steam some of the love for the Bruins has you know fallen these last couple years and now they just traded all marks so that they could be active and free agency to make the team better. So Boston's a team to watch. I mean I need to see some pieces because again I, if you looked at their playoff roster this year like on paper. I mean they had a decent run, you know in a solid season. But on paper it was like how are they winning games like they, you know I think there's some depth guys that really helped that team but I think they're a couple pieces away from, for me, feeling like they're a cup contender. They've got the experience. They're a team that's one, you know, in recent memory but I just think you know they need a couple pieces to really be a contender and I think that's what's factoring into them being kind of middle of the pack but if you feel good about them. Yeah, I'm seeing them at 20 to one like it's pretty good odds for, for a team that you know it was in the mix this year and you know finished at the top of the standings and things like that but. I could see a little bit of a conversation around Tampa. I do think they're getting old but they're a team that, you know, I'm saying about Tampa down to one. They're no longer in the elite category based on this price. Yeah, yeah, if you feel they're going to make some free agency moves and be back in the mix. This is a time to take a team like that. But again, I think, you know, I think the runs caught up to them a bit. I think they're older. You know, Vasaleski is still a great goalie but he's not unhuman as much as often as he was. But again, their team, you know, I think, John Coop is a guy that knows how to win so again, plus 30 or I mean 30 to one. I don't think I think they're definitely a team that you never know. And again, they're a team that can sneak in as a seven or eight seed and, you know, anything can happen. I think they're that in that sense they're similar to Vegas, you know Vegas doesn't need to be a one seed to make a run, but you see Vegas is is half the odd so again, I don't think Tampa the bad look. I'm going to say this about Tampa Bay. I don't think they're going to win the Stanley Cup, but if you're going to, if someone would say to me eat in Tampa Bay hasn't been 30 to one odds to win the cup in years and years. I see value. I'm not going to tell you you're a moron. That's where I stand. I don't see them win in the cup but if someone says to me and they haven't been 30 to one in years there's still a winning reds to do a winning pedigree there. And I think there's value at 30 to one. I'm not going to say you're a complete dummy, keeping them. So that's that's where I stand as far as that is concerned with Tampa Bay. Like I say Nashville, a lot of love for Nashville and look, they did make the playoffs. They had that great second half of the season. Again, I think 35 to one that's in terms of the 30 to 50 to one range teams. You know, Detroit, Ottawa, Nashville, I don't I don't have any issues with any of them as far as maybe some longer shot looks as far as the odds board is concerned flyers 45 to one. Now, that's that that's stretching it a little bit to me. But we saw how toward Arela got everything out of a team that didn't look like they were a playoff caliber roster last year, and they still almost made the playoffs. So, you know, and look, Mieszkov might be part of the team next year. That's a that's been big news the last 24 to 48 hours that he is ceased his contract in the KHL, likely going to make that move to Philly and North America and likely going to join the flyer organization. And that is definitely a significant development and the team that's crying out for offensive gamebreakers, because scoring has obviously still been their issue this past season. So, Matt Vame Mieszkov, you know, being part of the mix next year with the Philadelphia Flyers, certainly would be a big time plus for them going into a next season. Dan Bosma and the Kraken, you know, Dan Bosma is going to be the head coach there now, a tremendous run at Coachella Valley back to back Calder Cup final appearances lost both times, unfortunately, but got to the Calder Cup two years in a row, Calder Cup final. A lot of the players with Seattle he's familiar with coaching them at Coachella Valley in the American Hockey League. I think the bottom fell out for Seattle last year. I think if you're really going to get nuts and go for a real long shot as far as the last, you know, 10 bottom 10 cup futures teams are concerned. The only one that thinks my interest right now is Seattle at 60 to one. Calgary's rebuilding. No, thank you. Montreal's not ready yet. Washington's kind of caught in the middle and rebuilding, although for a team that, you know, because that coach of theirs, I think is so good. You know, that would probably be next in line for me as far as a future in that range. Columbus not ready, ready, yet, even though, you know, we got to find out to who the damn coach is going to be still done. What else searching now for a new head coach after they fired Pascal Vincent, Utah, a lot of good young talent, but that blue line and gold tending is still a question mark for you to that's going to be a good over to you next year, Maddie. Talk about how we love our overs, high scoring games. Utah's going to be a good over club next year. They are tremendous up front, scoring wise and offensively, but that blue line and the gold tending has still got questions galore. Yeah, I definitely see a lot of a lot of six and a half sevens with when they're playing, especially if they're playing a team like a Colorado, an Edmonton, you know, a team that's also got some firepower and maybe a couple question marks on the back end so yeah, they'll be a team. I'm excited to watch. See how that transition goes, you know, we talked about it on the show. Obviously it's going to be a better situation from a hockey perspective. Obviously if you're, you know, 23 playing the NHL you'd rather live in Scottsdale than live in Salt Lake City. I think they're going to be a fun young team to watch. I think there's going to be a good opportunity for guys, you know, hopefully we see guys like Josh Jones, you know, staying up with the big club because of, you know, the situation they're in. You know, he played really great down the stretch, but you know how it works sometimes. Guys get those shots and then, you know, the next year they're back in the HL so that's come in through free agency. So it'll be interesting to see it'll be, I'm interested to see who they can kind of get in free agency because again, with those types of teams like there's always a bit of a question mark on, you know, do guys want to go there right away. So it makes it, you know, it's, it's, it's not that it's not an attractive place to go. I think there's some, some hype about it. But, you know, when it's obviously when it's an expansion team like a Vegas or Seattle guys don't necessarily have a choice, you know, they go through the draft, you know, it's just kind of how it works out. But when it's a team that moved, you know, maybe a guy would have gone to Arizona, but, you know, decides he doesn't want to go to Utah for whatever reason or, you know, maybe just wants to field out so that'll be interesting to see. Do you think it's a big question mark. Do you think it's player speak Matt when you hear some of the Arizona players say they actually love the move, because we know Eddie lack is saying from a lifestyle standpoint, Arizona, Utah, you know, which one you might want to enjoy your downtime more with, but there, at least they're not portraying disappointment or, you know, fear of their lifestyle being uprooted and their families being uprooted by going to Utah. How do you think you would fit fair? If you were a coyote right now, Matt, and you are all of a sudden now playing in Utah, how would you, how would you truly feel? And obviously if they're going to express publicly that, hey, it's great, you know, we're excited and all that, but deep down inside internally, how would you feel about that whole situation? Yeah, I think it's a good question. I think it varies player to player. I think there's some guys that, you know, are quote unquote the hockey nerd you hear about it all the time in sports. Another sport is a golf nerd, you know, I talked to PGA guys and they're like, there's some guys on the tour that on their time off or just playing golf, and it's like all they want to do. And then there's some guys that it's such a grind of a PGA season that the last thing they're doing after the season is playing more golf. You know, it's worked for them at that point. And I think that translates into sports and it doesn't mean that a guy is less committed than the guy next to him, but, you know, there are guys that on their time off want to hit the golf course. You know, want to go to a nice restaurant. You know, they're making good money, especially for like a young single guy or, you know, a guy that doesn't have kids, where, you know, a guy that's 34 with a wife and three kids. This move may be like, okay, we're settling into a quieter, more like raise a family type environment. There's less craziness and distraction. I think in various player by player, personally, I would be pretty bummed. I love it down in the Tempe Scottsdale area. You know, you get to golf in January and it's 80 degrees. There's great courses everywhere. You know, there's always stuff to do. But again, you know, they had to go through. As a fan, I loved the, the more arena for a couple of years, seeing a game there going to an NHL game and sitting four rows behind the glass for, you know, 50 bucks is the dream for a fan. And obviously knowing that it was temporary, I think made it even more appealing. But, but yeah, as a player, I mean, you know, you go from some of these big arenas and I know they're still playing road games, but to have, you know, 4500 teet arenas. So I'm sure there's guys that are excited about being back in, you know, more of a traditional NHL barn. But, but yeah, I think to answer your question, I know that was a bit long winded, but I think I would be pretty bummed from everything but the hockey perspective. That would be the one piece that I, you know, I would be okay with the move. I think it's going to be a good opportunity for those guys. But yeah, talking about the offseason, you know, I think there will be some guys that definitely just stay in Arizona and maybe get an apartment up in Utah for the season that, you know, would rather be back in Scottsdale, you know, for the offseason. And there's a reason Austin Matthews still lives there in the offseason. It's a great place to be. There's still hockey. There's still places to train. You just get to enjoy a lot, a lot better weather, some day clubs, bars, restaurants. I think they'll take that over the cheesecake factory in Salt Lake City. Oh my gosh, you make it sound so desolate in comparison when you frame it like that. But I'll say this, the one thing the players will like, and you're right at both the lifestyle. How are you going to, how are you going to put Utah over Arizona ahead of off the ice lifestyle? You can't. You're not. I don't think it's, I don't think it's possible because I think everyone would choose Arizona over Utah from that standpoint. But here is the glaring issue with the Arizona coyotes in that market, apathetic fan base, and lack of support, building never full, that kind of situation. They're now going to a market in Salt Lake City where the season ticket sales are flying off the, they're just flying, you know, with hundreds and thousands of it of season ticket sales. That market is amped. They're pumped. They are fired up right now for stand for NHL hockey. I think they're excited. I think they're truly legitimately excited to have another professional big four sports team outside of the Utah jazz of the NBA in that market. And I think that is what the players will like about being in Utah now. It's just the support and the adulation and the fans probably being right by your side from day one. And excited and the building full most nights, or at least close to full, which just was never ever the case with the Arizona coyotes. So I think that is definitely something that they are looking forward to. Look who decided to wake up here. Sleepyhead joining us here on the season finale edition of the ice guys. I knew it. I said to you when I was like, we can't find Alex. We haven't heard from him. I said he's probably fallen asleep and just slept through the start time of the show. And that's exactly what happened. Alex, but better late than never. You made it. How are you? Yeah, good. Yeah, just getting some, probably getting some good sleep. That's something that I've been waiting for for months. So apologies for that. Do not set the alarm and just completely stop through everything, but it's better late than never. So I see you guys are already breaking down what's trying to possibly or what's going to happen for the next 54 weeks from now. By the way, Andrew G there, Alex was up all night celebrating the cup win and more importantly that part of her. He bargained in probably. I was no, I was in bed by well, by midnight. So I wouldn't know. That was my celebration was with some rest. I know you're not as excited about the day after the Stanley Cup final and the season ends look toward next year with the futures board. And like I said, I'm not locking in anything either. I'm just throwing out some leads as I still want to see free agency play open. Since we're on this topic right now, Alex, and then we'll get your thoughts on the cup final and the season overall after that. Is there anything on the board that stands out? Anything you're at least leaning toward right now as far as value. Well, let's see is we just take a just a glance here. I can make it bigger too. There we go. There we go. Everything obviously the opens are the favorite. Bigger, there we go. That's better. This is this is literally first time looking at any of these numbers. Like you guys are watching this all in real time. Our first thought or minute Alex was look at the respect the New Jersey Devils are suddenly getting with getting Jacob Marks. Yeah, that's all. And the non playoff team this year and 10 to 1 6th favorite. Yeah, that's kind of crazy. I definitely wouldn't be going for them right away. Out of this group Dallas obviously is the that's a glaring glaring team out of that bunch, but. Everybody else. It's a lot of weight and see what's in that range. How about those old stalwarts Boston 20 to 1 Tampa Bay 30 to 1 old stalwarts for years finally. Declining a little bit in their odds 10 to 30 to 1 ain't that bad they can make one more big rush short. Chat loves Nashville and Detroit. There are many people in our chat right now loving the value with both Nashville and the both teams that will suffer through losing streaks at some point where you can get better numbers. I understand like in both teams I think both teams. Definitely if you're looking for making the playoffs to be looking for certain kind of prop things of that nature, but I think you can wait. You could probably find the 40 to 1 50 to 1 with Detroit at some point. All right, and obviously look at that down the board. I even made a small case for Philly in Seattle that's small like I'm just saying if you're going to take a shot in the dark throw a dart at the board on these lower run teams. I'd say Philly 45 Seattle 60. If you if yeah, going to my head, I had to bet something today would be Seattle 61. Obviously, we know pedigree of what they have now making that change with the coach with Basement. The run they just had the last two years now with those Coachella Valley players, those guys will be coming up and getting gaps. That's not a bad look there at all. There you go. All right, there you go. Some future thoughts. Are you guys talking about Utah? Of course, the generation that I'm sure that's going to be an issue more with drafting than free agents. You know, getting getting free agents, like you said, and they're going to attract more older free agents, more family established reagents. You know, it's going to have to do a lot of not just what their life sell is, but what their wife's lifestyle is like as well. You know, as far as settling down there, but I think getting the draft picks will be something to be obviously anybody who's yet a drinking history known to them might get screwed near or you know, get thrown a few more questions around. Interview time by Utah's management. That's something that just have to do because they have to be respectful to the city they plan as well. You know, that's the thing. They don't want to, you know, all of a sudden look like a bunch of drunk hockey hooligans. If you bring them the wrong kind of crowd into that city. So it works both ways of that. So just kind of touching on what I was hearing you guys, you know, saying as I was waking up. There's pros and cons to Arizona versus Utah for the players to be playing. The fan base is going to be much stronger and more supportive, more vocal, bigger fan. You know, the building will be almost full every night in Utah. You never ever got that in Arizona. With this team, but you like the lifestyle better in Arizona. Let me just say this. If Utah ever wins a Stanley Cup, you don't have to worry about a riot. Yeah. That's right. That's a good point there. No doubt. So there's the futures board. We always like doing that looking ahead. Alex, of course, just joined us a few moments ago. So we haven't gotten to hear from him on his thoughts on game seven last night. Matt and I talked about it a ton earlier in the show. Alex, your thoughts, Florida, they made a sweat, but they are for the first time. Stanley Cup champions. Yeah, they get back to playing their game and their brand of hockey. And they did that the right time and it wasn't so much a collapse for Edmonton. And I think everybody's kind of realized that this morning and even I think everybody was realizing that last night too, that Edmonton put up a great effort in that game seven loss. And that's the worst thing that could have happened that I didn't say this to anybody, but I thought this before game seven the days before I said the worst thing that could possibly happen would be Florida blow them out seven nothing eight nothing. Because Edmonton worked so hard to get back into the series to this point to just completely just let it go to waste would have been tragic that would have ruined the whole narrative of the storyline. But the fact that they played hard and it ended up being a close game, and especially end up being a lower scoring game. You know, that certainly, you know, kind of helped everybody out those who like that traditional game seven under that cash once again but obviously, of course, the story of the night for me being a card over Haiti getting the first goal but Florida leading off the scoring was so important to getting that momentum on this side keeping that crowd into it that building never we never talked about that much during the back guys were just kind of in our conversations but the crowd never wavered. They were magnificent for a game seven where you see a lot of crowds, you see a lot of good crowds. They will tense up and tighten up and the fans get quiet and they're holding their breath to holding their hands sitting there nervous. They didn't do any of that they were engaged in that game the entire way through so give the crowd some some kudos as well they help and did their part in the biggest stage as well so just a fantastic ending to what was a grueling series and a grueling postseason. But nonetheless, just be into what's been an exciting and another interesting year in the natural life. And you didn't even mention the best part for you for this season you're all time best betting season in the NHL and any sport. Yeah. Yeah, I was counting up last night and the unofficial tally because there's still other things I have to count but somewhere in the neighborhood of 112.5 units. Holy mackerel. So yeah and that's you know with adding in a lot of these you know player props and you know things that I just hadn't been betting more and going higher volume lower unit. You know something I give credit to you and that's something that I know that you do a lot so I kind of kind of learned and adopted that style a little bit. And that's helped out tremendously as well so and I know you know the clients are happy with that and I'm certainly happy as well with that. So yeah number one hockey season and number one season of any sport in my career today. Absolutely. Congratulations my friend well deserved well earned that tremendous NHL betting season. Like I said I'm profitable as well in the season nothing close to that I'll take it but your season absolutely spectacular. And we congratulate you for that. Just the cliff notes of what Matt and I said earlier was just you know we thought that the job they did defensively all night long and McDavid and Drycidal won them the cup. I mean they did nothing really. I mean where was that one moment where McDavid went in to end you didn't see it. Last night and Bob when there was a mistake he was there to clean it up. The commitment to blocking shots team defense was outstanding and for Paul Maurice to get this team mentally back in the right frame of mind to play their best game in a game seven outstanding job. And we wax poetic Alex for 10 minutes on Paul Maurice and we had a couple clips we showed for him from last night earlier in the show. I still can't get that post game quote out of my mind that he said where the Sarah McLachlan with the animal cruelty commercials and you know the you know animals suffering. You know that's kind of like what the why the gods gave me a cup here after 30 years it's so painful and pitiful to watch they couldn't take it anymore. They finally decided to give me just another classic jam from Paul Maurice last night and his interview with SB SP on Sports Center was incredible. Yeah the interview we did on Sportsnet so Paul Maurice no one happier than no one that I am happier for on this Florida Panthers team than him finally getting his first Stanley Cup no doubt. Yeah absolutely I mean just just a class act all the way around even with him saying you know he hopes that you know when a pack and when a Stanley Cup or something out to join his love and you know for that city that franchise as well just. Yeah that he's definitely the highlight there's always a highlight person usually as the player when a team wins a cup we would talk about you know usually a veteran or just somebody that we like you know. And say oh wow you're happy for that person to get a cup and this year it tends to be happens to be a head coach with Paul Maurice. And here's just a small glimpse of the scenes taking place today in Fort Lauderdale, Florida here this was earlier. Thank you. What a moment. And then he turns around the fans says thank you I mean got a big swig of beer out of the cup. Unbelievable. That's amazing. Yeah it's going to be quite the party because that is a party area obviously way any Fort Lauderdale in the heat and they are going to have some good old times in the next several days with that cup. So I'm guessing they're going to do the parade in Sunrise Fort Lauderdale but then they'll probably end up doing some kind of big thing in Miami as well. So that should be pretty interesting. Yeah parade is announced is Sunday. There's no on so they've given it some time I think and plus I think have the big celebration the next two days get everyone to get some sleep in after that then be ready to go for another big parade party day on Sunday for the Stanley Cup there in Fort Lauderdale. The long and winding road I find that lyric is very, very appropriate at a time like this. It's been a very long and very winding road this long NHL season and to think we start this show early October every year and here we are June 25 having our final show of the season and it is time to say goodbye. It is time to say adios to everybody that has joined us here this season on the ice guys show. Although I just remembered before we do that we do have to do our usual I almost forgot to do it look at last show and I almost screwed up. But we do have to remind you first of all patreon members and there is going to be something make sure you hang on when we say our final goodbye and we cut out we know we don't see us anymore we're going to run our regular show outro. That you always see but after that we are also going to run end credits with thanks and acknowledgments stick around for that because our patreon members each and every one of you will be included in that. So make sure you remain with us if you're able to throughout the summer we've got the player suite interview series coming up several shows interviewing current and former players. Looking forward to that Ryan Garbitt a former Dallas star I know that that'll get Matt's attention is scheduled to be one of the interviews during the player suite over the off season as well so lots of good interviews coming up. I think we're finally going to get to talk to the on hate it's been months if not almost a year we've been trying to get the schedules right to get him on. And that's on the radar there's a bunch of others as well. We're also going to have players that we've had on the show before just reconnect for an interview as well so we got lots planned with the player suite over the summer months. Looking forward to those shows we're going to do our free agency recap show exclusive to patreon this year second week of July. With me Alex and Matt as well if he's available so we're looking forward to that second week of July and really other than that you know we'll have our Q&A that will finally record in July as well. And that's going to be all available to patreon members so $10 per month to remain a subscriber. That's a wrap folks it's time to say our goodbye it's time to say Bon Voyage and farewell. A vita zen idea as they said on Sound of Music. It's been a remarkable season another great season the show keeps getting better I find year after year are following and the movement the ice guys family movement keeps getting stronger year after year the amount of incredible viewers and listeners that we have come across we have met on our bet casts that we will be meeting for the first time in person next year to respond to what Landon is saying we will be planning this and start to talk about it over the summer months and into next season our first ever ice guys road trip. We're doing it it's about damn time the pandemic screwed everything up like it did for everybody because we were planning on doing this probably a few years ago the pandemic happened and we're trying to build things up again and it's finally time. We will have a nice guys roadie and a nice guys road trip on ice guys meet and greet whatever you want to call it next year at a location to be determined. But we know what the locations are as far as on the on the shortlist if you will Vegas Nashville Florida. You know they're right up there all three of those places Boston because our good friend Jimmy Murphy is there definitely those are the ones that are right on the radar and we're looking forward to planning it out and announcing that at a later date. But yeah it will have no it will not be Hamilton Scott I love my hometown but it will not be here. But nevertheless I look at the ability to finally meet people in person that have supported this show for years and we will make it happen next year. Our first ever ice guys road trip event. We can't wait we're looking excited about that and just to sum up the year. The guests to the countless number of guests thank you and your names will be included at the end in the credits. The patreon members which I already mentioned thank you. My right hand man Alex B Smith, who has fought through another year where it's not hasn't always been there for him physically and other and other things too but he's battled through battle through missing alarm clocks. You name it and he is a great person to work with a great friend for now 10 plus years more than that probably more like 12 14 years now that Alex and I have known each other and been friends and we've now been doing this show for seven years. It's seven full years eight years if you include the half the season we had at the beginning but it has been 2016 was when this show began. It's been a great run and to Matt Robinson. We have always been kind of a three man operation here at the ice guys from the very beginning we had Dana Lane in the beginning but he couldn't stick around because of various conflicts and he was a great person to work with still a good friend of ours with me and Alex. We had Andrew McGinnis who is a great a third man of the crew for a few years but again his duties at Wager Talk precluded him from being a regular daily contributor on this show and he unfortunately had to move on we're still great friends with him. And Jimmy Murphy who is the next kind of third in command if you will of this great crew who spent a couple of great years with him when he was on the show pretty much every day but the reporting duties with the Boston Bruins and the Boston hockey now stuff. Now doing a great podcast but you should be checking out by the way with Pierre McGuire called the eye test and he had to unfortunately leave the show full time. So last year was mostly Alex and I didn't really have a designated kind of third person to be on the show fairly regularly. Until this man from Reno Nevada originally from Plano Texas showed up in our lives. Matt Robinson here Dallas Stars fan supreme. And when I initially reached out to him being on the show I thought it was just going to be one of these usual deals with guests one time, maybe a couple throughout the season. And he'd be just an occasional, you know, once in a while type of involvement in the show. But he was damn good initially that first show came back I think a week or two later and he was good and the reviews and the comments and the positivity and the feedback from all the viewers and listeners about this Matt Robinson guy, just what a seamless fit he was onto the show. And sure enough here we are now June 25 and he's basically become the third guy of the crew that we've been looking for since Jimmy left. He's just a great low key down to earth calm composed collected type of individual. His personality is demeanor blends well with me with Alex, especially Alex is a little lower key Matt's lower key I'm the high strung frenetics schizophrenic spastic man of the group. I get it. I understand that. I'm the one that's a loopy. I get it. But he's messed well with us. His insights have been awesome from a betting standpoint could tell he puts in work he loves hockey knows hockey he watches hockey. And like I said it's, it's been an absolute pleasure to have Matt now as a regular member of this crew. And checks in the mail by the way for Matt Robinson he will be receiving a nice little financial token of appreciation from both me and Alex for his contributions this year to the ice guys and Matt, you are now family when it comes to the ice show. Wow, I don't know how I follow that up. I appreciate that so much. You know it's obviously been a fun year. It's been no secret that I've had some ups and downs at work work and and this has been something that's fun. And we all have. We all have. Yeah. And it's been a good distraction in a positive way. You know, I really enjoy being on the show. I, you know, when you first reached out I was like weird I watch hockey every day and I bet every day so, you know, maybe I'm a good fit but yeah, it's, it's brought in a lot of new angles for me from a betting perspective. You know, I used to, I know Alex mentioned this a little bit earlier but, you know, I used to be like a one to two what are the best bets of the night and now I, you know, I'll have a stars game with 14 bets and 13 will hit because they beat national eight to three or whatever happened that night that we were on the bed cast so, you know, that, that kind of stuff wouldn't be possible without the show so, you know, as much as you had kind words for me it's been nothing but the same back to you guys I've, I've really appreciated, you know, being on the show I've appreciated the invites I've appreciated, you know, all the, all the perks and whistles that come with it the bet cast nights I've had so much fun you know, Ryan and I and Sammy P hitting the plus or the minus 54 or whatever it was in that playoff game things like that, right on the best cast yeah yeah, that'll be the stuff that, that, you know, you remember forever and you know, the games will sometimes blend together but there'll be little stuff that he never forgets so I want to thank you guys I'm super appreciative I, you guys welcomed me with open arms and, and you know I really appreciate that so I'm super excited to be part of the show at the beginning of the season next year I think it'll be fun to do some of this off season stuff as well you know, again, I, this is the most boring time of the year for sports with me it's early baseball season you know there's some good golf tournaments throughout the summer but I always love when college football starts because I know that hockey, basketball, the NFL are all kind of creeping on the horizon so I'm really looking forward to the off season, you know, getting to do some content with you guys getting to stay involved in the game, you know, up to speed on things and I cannot wait, I don't care if it's in Boston National Florida or Vegas I'll definitely be at the ice guys meetup that's going to be a blast and it'll be awesome to see some of the chat that doesn't get on, you know, the best cast show up to something like that to put a face to a name so as well as everyone that's regularly on the best cast and things like that but yeah, no it's been a, it's been an awesome ride and I look forward to many seasons ahead and you're right when it comes time to the meet and greet we hope everyone is that possible that watches this show and listens throughout the year can join us for it and I will say this if we happen to see a certain someone on this meet and greet he is going to be probably to us during that meet and greet what Sam Bennett has been the last two years to Paul Maurice Paul Maurice said Sam Bennett I haven't seen him smiling two years that'll be John Massey on our meet and greet he'll go the whole meet and greet we won't see a damn smile at him but we love him anyway and hopefully he'll be able to make it as well for the meet and greet coming up next season alright Alex the floor is yours final comments anything you want to add speak now or forever hold your peace this is yeah I mean it's been a it's been a hell of a year for sure and you know it says we do these year after year the product gets better and better and that's the whole point of what we want you know to grow this the show for the people and to grow the show for ourselves you know and they said the show is about helping all of us become better at our craft and I can say that this year the year I'm having this show has certainly helped me you know you guys on the screen have helped me all the other guests we've had you know our viewers and how we you know interact and share notes in the chat and share notes you know in DMs you know after the show and posts and different things and you know we're all learning from each other and helping each other make money I mean there's no better you know way to go about the days honestly and so I appreciate every single one of you for making it possible for me to do this every day and like said you know it's still a grind it's still a job at the end of the day I love my job and I love what I do but you know life can make even the best of jobs hard sometimes and you know going through a lot lately in the last few months and you know to battle that battle through that and still have such a successful season I'm proud of myself for getting through it and being able to do that so just you know it's been a remarkable year and you know now we have the downtime to kind of relax and heal and get better so we can have it even better season next year We got a lot to do and a lot to talk and a lot to accomplish but I want to be ready to do that when you get that so I just want to say thanks to everybody I'll support all the love all the backcasts all the DMs all the everything I just want to say thanks to everybody Nothing more to be said thank you to everybody we appreciate very much although there is one thing very important thing I do want to say to a legend in this business Dave Kochen God love you man what heartbreaking news to hear that what he's undergoing right now And one of the true trailblazers in the sports betting and handicapping industry he has been stricken with cancer this vicious unforgiving just sickening disease and unfortunately he is running out of time and Dave Kochen is a legend in this business And I know he is someone that a lot of us are friends with we looked up to and just absolutely incredibly sad news Dave we are thinking about you just well wishes And just nothing more to say just well wishes and heartbreaking that you're going through this right now an absolute legend in the business Dave Kochen nothing more to say well wishes to you my friend Great times to be in on his show with Matt humans years ago and I know Alex was on that too many times Las Vegas sports line it was him and Matt humans several several years ago so again we wish Dave all the best and like I said just heartbreaking news everybody in the chat we love each and every one of you viewers and listeners thank you for being here for Matt Robinson for Alex B Smith one final time this season I am Ian Cameron the ice guys wraps up for the 2023 24 season have yourself a great summer off season patreon members we've got your back we have summer content on the way throughout the off season with the player suite interviews with the three agency recap show Q&A
