But with you through until 11 o'clock, of course, we have got the golf show coming up after 10 o'clock and then we will have harness racing with square graders with Dan Hibard after 10-30. But Sammy, we have got a very special guest and we'll get stuck straight into it round 12 in the apprenticeship factory, KDL, and we have got Jordan Formosa live. I hope it's the right formosa because all I had written down on a piece of paper was I've got Baz on the line. Tell us about that, Jordan. Yeah, it was. That's what we made? You've got the nickname Baz. Where does that one come from? Yeah, just the nickname my dad gave me back when I was a kid, not too much to it. Baz, obviously today it's going to be cold, miserable, but conducive to your style of game. How do you see today playing out against Telly Grootner? Yeah, no, it's pretty happy with the weather to be honest. It brings our game into play a lot. We like to play a bit scrappy and get the ball forward and we're pretty good around the contest, so we've seen it as a very winnable game today, so we're pretty excited. Now, tell us, how have you seen the season so far? Yeah, we'll explore it at the gate, we've had a few injuries early in that compound with the fixture, we'll, I think, play three to top four in the first five weeks, so that was pretty tough. But then we've got going a bit since then, starting to build a bit of continuity in the team, which has probably been a bit while up and down, having played a really good four quarter performance just as of yet. Now, tell us, Jordan, you obviously enjoyed your time at Longwood, and you've committed to staying around next season as well. Yeah, that's right, yeah, really excited about that, continuing what we've started to build there, you know, slowly building. And we just see it as a good chance to get some success next season and, yeah, keep continuing what we're building at the club, and hopefully, yeah, give everyone a good ride while we're there. And how have you seen the competition this season? It looks like it's a little bit, I mean, obviously, we've got the top two or three, but then it's, on any given day, that middle tier group of teams can certainly beat anyone. Yeah, that's right, sort of closed up in the middle gap there, which is good, and hopefully in the season they come, we can sort of make a bit of ground up on the top two or three as well, which would be pretty exciting for the lead. Wallace, you're obviously starting to already plan towards 2025. What are some of the things that you're looking at in terms of filling the gaps? Yeah, we're probably looking for a tour forward and a tour defender, maybe another midfielder, something around that, but yeah, it's been probably a bit of depth really, we've sort of lacked a bit of depth that we lose a couple of players through injury at the start of season. We've seen, we've sort of struggled to bring players up on that, so yeah, there's probably a few things we need to address, but yeah, getting this decision done early, it helps us get ready to plan for next season, already get the clinical position to attack that. What do you know about Telly Group? No, they're right in the mix to play finals, of course, just out of the six on percentage at the moment, but they would fancy themselves on playing finals, given that they've got a reasonably favourable draw. Yeah, they're pretty handy team, Telly, they've obviously got a pretty good forward in our home, a few classy players in their midfield and their backbone as well, so they're not going to be an easy challenge, but hopefully the winner helps us out a little bit, and I think that if we want to continue to improve this as a team that we've got to give ourselves every sort of chance against. Last season you got very close to them, dropped it by probably around eight points, I think it was in the end. Yeah, I think it was less than a goal, it was one of those down the course line and we'll spot less than a goal, so yeah, that was a good game, obviously their teams changed up from them and as of theirs, but yeah, we'll just play it on its merit today, so yeah, we hope we start well, keep ourselves in the game and then yeah, really attack it from there. Have you identified anyone from Telly that you really need to put some time into around that midfield? Because I suppose that's the key in terms of, I know you mentioned they had AHO, Adam Brophy spends a bit of time down for Karl McCarthy, so they're there, guys that are, you know, quite handy, tall, capable of taking a mark, but actually the conditions might necessarily suit big forwards today with the wind and also the potential for some, you know, rain at times. Yeah, no, yeah, around the midfield we sort of back ourselves in, got me enjoying young fellow called Flynn in there, but we can sort of lock down as well if we have to, we'll see how that starts and hopefully we can beat him in there and drive the ball forward and play forward half game from there. Now, well, what are some of the things, there's been some real positive news around the week at the Longwood Football and their ball club, I know that the club, and Ricky Scheiner particularly has been really working hard to try and get some funding for some change rooms down there, women's change rooms and it's come to fruition. Yeah, that's correct, Rick, and the whole club have done a pair of work trying to get that up and it's just great to see that the club are doing great things for everyone around the club, not just the free side of it, the netball side of it, it's a really great club to be a part of. And obviously, it's a big, exciting piece of news, obviously, for the netball, of course, you know, to be able to get these change rooms. Yeah, yeah, for sure, they deserve everything they get, they're a great part of the club and yeah, it's really exciting to them and everybody around the club as well. Now, Baz, while we've got you on the line, let's have a look at the round of games, obviously real wintery conditions today. The first one we'll look at is Gagari, a hosting avenue, Gagari's forms have been pretty good in the last fortnight, one in the last couple of ovenal, obviously, sitting in fourth. Who do you like in this game? You've seen both these teams this season? Yeah, yeah, I'll go with ovenal mate. Vollitown are at home to Dukie United, obviously both these teams look like they're not going to play finals, Dukie travelling south down to Vollitown, who do you like here? Yeah, I'll go with Dukie. Of course, we've gone through the longwood telegram with yourself. Merigam at home to the stand-out football netball club, obviously stand-out, but currently in the top six Merigam in that middle tier group, do you give Merigam a chance of being able to take the game to stand-out, give them maybe what the conditions might be like this afternoon? Yeah, I don't think they'll be much in that, I think stand-out might just get over the line and they're considering they've got a bit to play for. Yeah, the batch of the round, of course, in the apprenticeship factory KDL today is at the Mergeson Recreation Reserve. We've got Mergeson who are sitting first and undefeated, and the one draw, obviously, and the rest are wins. Taking on Shepherd and East, who's lost the long game for 2024 against Lancaster, these two teams are right up there contending. How do you see this one playing out? And do you see the conditions having much of an impact, given that Mergeson's obviously got a lot of tall timber, and Shepherd East has got some tall timber as well? Yeah, I think the game will be a real 50/50 chance now in this weather. We'll bring Shepherd East right into it, I think if it was dryer, I think Merges would get the job done, so I think it's a real 50/50, I'll probably just go with Mergeso. Again, be obviously clinging on to sixth position, taking on Rashworth, who are much improved, and done a really good job. They had a really good win last week against Volatown, and again, be just dropped the game to Shepherd and East at Central Park, but they were riding the mix in that game early started well, but couldn't sustain it for the four quarters. Who do you like here? Yeah, Rashworth's had a great season. I think the Gambia just starting to come good too, so I'll have to go with the Gambia. And tomorrow, in the broadcast game from 2pm at the Lancaster Recreation Reserve, taking on Andira, who have had a tough season this year in 2024, Lancaster, we know are very, very strong. Do you give Andira any chance? I think he'll be too good. So yeah, Baz, obviously thanks for taking some time out this morning, I know it was short and sweet, so we're running a little bit behind with, obviously, everything that's been going on around the world with the IT glitches, but yeah, good luck today, good luck for the rest of the season. No worries, thanks, Adam. So that was Baz for my answer from the Longwood Football Network Club. Well, for the first time ever in my history on 1 FM Live and Local, I got the Engage Signal Live on air. Because you actually just did your first phone patch there, Sammy, are you aware of that? Sensation. I'll tell you, it's amazing work here. We've got the ball over, he's absolutely lost it over, so I'm not sure what I've done. Maybe did I drop my guts or something like that? I don't know what's going on. But let's go to the airport because obviously I know that I assume you're going to have the 10 o'clock news coming up. Let's roll straight into the net ball, hang on Sammy, you've got the game roll on me. Gary, taking on Avidol, huge game for both these teams, Avidol obviously are still well and truly in the mix to play finals. Gig obviously are sitting in equal second, and obviously in third on percentage, I think with their balance, they should be able to get the job done today against Avidol down at Gagari Rec Reserve. The next one is Valtown Dooki United, this is huge game for both these teams, well and truly in the mix to play finals. Dooki United have got a couple of really nice shooters in General Sullivan and Matty Owens, but Laura Henderson moved the magnets around last week because they did start slowly in their game against Jig and it ended up bringing them undone. She said they gave up the first five goals, eight goals down at quarter time, but they were able to fight their way back and only lives by three. Valtown were able to get back on the winners list after starting the season with six consecutive wins, then four losses in a row, but they got back on the winners list last week to feed him Rushworth and jump back into the top six. I think Dooki gets this one done. Tully Grouppner, who are obviously as we know, the 22 Premier and runner-up last year, have been working really hard this season in terms of reshaping their playing roster, they've dropped a couple of the girls that were regulars in A-grade to go down and play B-grade, promoted some other girls, and as a result, they've won five games sitting outside but still can mathematically make it, they've won two on the bounce and I wouldn't discount them yet, I think that they'll be too strong for Longwood. Merigam and Stanite, this should be a really good game and netball, both teams in the middle tier of the ladder, look both of them have been going OK, and look I think that Stanite for me probably got a little bit more to play for, they're still well and truly in that mixed play files, they're about a game out, so with five to go, this is one of those ones that they probably would have looked at and said we must win this game if we are going to play finals, Mergeson to Lambert, they're the team that have had a pretty competitive season and lost a lot of games, I reckon they've lost at least two games by one goal and one by two, possibly this season, so they've been there about, they just haven't been able to crack it in those close games, which has probably hurt them, if they had won those three games they'd be well in the mix. My Shepbeast, our Shepbeast was brought undone last week, beating at home by Nogambi, so it was a really good win by Nogambi, I know that Lauren James, or it was most known, Lauren Keeti, one of the star defenders of Shep and a nice premiership win last year, she heard her ankle late net games, she's probably going to be out for a couple of games, nothing too serious but enough to probably keep her out for two or three weeks, in saying that I still think they've got enough depth in their defence through Sarah Maskell and Claire Dougherty to be able to get the job done today at Merch. Nogambi, very rush-worth, obviously Nogambi have restabilised themselves and have really set themselves up with some really good wins in the last few weeks, including last week at Shep and an East. I see Kristi Gleason this week, given that they're playing rush-worth. The Tigers, the winless this season, they've been really competitive some weeks and other weeks have struggled, Kristi has given some opportunities by the looks of it to some younger girls, I see Katie Sullivan and Shani Lloyd to the veterans, I suppose you'd call Jade up of the team, having a rest today, they've still got some good players, Madeleine Moore, Greta Small, Michelle Williams, Brede Andrey, so they've still got some really good girls with some experience through that mid-court attacking third and even back third, I think they'll be too strong for rush-worth and Lancaster v. Andira, tomorrow, obviously Jade up, they take on, Lancaster's undefeated, Andira obviously, under Amy Marshall, this year's doing a fantastic job, I sense that this will be a huge challenge for them, Lancaster are starting to hit their straps, getting some girls back, Jada Davies, which is Tommy Davies' wife, of course, has come back into the side, Chiquita Vic is obviously a star, we know what she is capable of, she's really, you know, given the Lancaster attacking third, some stability and a target, and she's so accurate and tough to play on, so whoever gets her from Andira is going to have their workout out. Look, Andira, I've been really, really good Alex Phillips and Chloe North, two of the girls that are still eligible, I think, to play juniors, particularly Chloe North, come up in that back third, so they got a really big task on their hands, and Alicia Lindrea, who played through the midcourt, was really, really good from Andira last week, look, Lancaster, as I said, well-balanced in every third, so I think that this is going to be a really tough task for Andira, but look, Andira has been competitive even in their losses to some of those really good teams at the higher end of the ladder, so look, I suspect that they'll be out of school, but the biggest challenge is, is they've not been able to probably limit the goals up the other end. Do you know what I reckon will be another massive challenge tomorrow at Lancaster? I reckon getting into the game, because Paul Newman, I believe, once again, will be pulling on the, is that true? Yes, he is, and you know who else is playing, another high-premise player who's playing tomorrow? Chris Atkins. Afro. Afro is going to front up. You won't be able to get a ticket. Don't bother. And I did see during the week, Paul, though, really chipping in and contributing, sitting in the social rooms, having dinner on Thursday night, so it's great to see that with a lanky jumper on, sensational, so yeah, it's been a really good in for Lancaster, and they're only getting stronger as the back end of the season comes towards it's turned up. With, I mean, how good it looks to be on the netball courts in a combination of things across it. It's been a massive day in the apprenticeship factory, KDL today, and of course, tomorrow for our broadcast game as well, and a bit of an apology to Baz there. We had some technical issues with the phone patch, but we did get it done. But what a sensational figure he is for our competition. As a you, Bruce McAvaney, the Galban Valley. Have a great day, Sammy. We'll be back after the news with the golf show. If you have enjoyed the show, then please let us know what you think at our socials. My FM, Super Saturday Sport on Facebook and Twitter, and tune in from 8am next week to find out more. Till next week, goodbye.
