Welcome back to women's hour on one FM. I hope you are all having a really good afternoon, even though we've been getting some really chilly weather lately so I hope you are currently staying warm. Now onto today's topic of waste management. Waste management involves the collection, transportation, processing, recycling and disposable of waste materials. It aims to reduce negative environmental impacts of waste and promote sustainability by managing waste in an efficient and environmentally friendly matter. Proper waste management helps minimize pollution, conserve resources and protect ecosystems. Australia has actually made significant process in waste management by implementing a lot of different strategies to reduce negative environmental impacts, promote sustainability and conserve our resources. One of their key initiatives is our national waste policy, which aims to minimize waste generalization, maximize resource recovery and ensure that waste is managed safely. Additionally, the government has been focusing on increasing at recycling rates, improving waste infrastructure all around and these efforts are helping and protecting Australia's beautiful ecosystems. There are ways you can help with waste management in Australia and protect not only our ecosystems, but our beautiful wildlife as well. In my research on waste management, I've discovered the most effective thing is what people call the three Rs. So it's reduce, recycle and reuse. You can help with waste management by practicing the three Rs, reduce, reuse and recycle. Reduce your waste by avoiding single use items and opting for reusable alternatives. Reuse items whenever possible to extend their lifespan. Recycle materials like paper, plastic, glass and metal to divert them from landfills. It is really always the simple things that help them make the difference in our environment.
