You're listening to a one F.M. podcast. [The Advisor, established in 1984 from informative political and council updates to sport and human interest stories and everything in between. It leads the way in community news in the Goldbun and Murray Valley. Will it be Will or Jeff joining Plemo today on 98.5? Let's find out right now. That's right, it's time to talk about the latest edition of The Advisor, which is live online as we moment at the moment. Joining me is Jeff. Jeff Adams, how are you going mate? Morning Plemo. How are you? As I said on the phone, a little bit tired, they've got the winter blues I guess, the winter blues. Yep. So I'm not alone. The days are getting longer already. Yeah. Should change. Are they? They're getting longer. I don't know. I don't know. I'm asleep, but I like six o'clock this night, so I don't even see the sun go down. So I'll take your word on it, the days are getting longer. Now how can you brighten me up? What great articles do you have in this week's packed edition of The Advisor? Yeah. Well Plemo, we've got a very good edition out hitting the streets as we speak. We've got it at the Barbecues Galore Grand Relocation Sales. Yes. That's a special wrap around of The Advisor this week. It's all worth a look at meeting the new bar, well, meeting the Barbecues tour team. I moved to Benalla Road, but we've also got, we're featuring the Traveling Jackaroo. Yes. A park's up in Chevert. I know it's been given some wide press coverage and media coverage, but this bloke, Sam Hughes, he's traveling around Australia, he's 21 years of age. Inattractor. Yeah, onattractor and towing it, and plus a plane on the back of it, and he's got a gyro copped on the top of the tractor, so it's an absolute ripper. He's driving a 1960 Chamberlain 9G tractor and he's raised a quarter of a million dollars so far for charities such as Royal Flying Doctor Service, Dolly's Dream and Farm Angel. It's a really good human interest story. But what a great person, so young doing something like that. I do question the roadworthiness of his vehicle, but we won't go into that because it's for a good cause. Let's face it, he's not doing over 20Ks now. Yeah. He's an absolute champion player. We've got a major story on the launch of the SPC Business Excellence Awards, which are run by greater shipment business network, which is formerly the Chamber of Commerce. So that's coming up on the 24th of July, and this year there's 15 categories for the Business Excellence Awards and two new ones, the new categories and Agri Business of the Year Award, which is sponsored by Numi, and export freight and logistics business of the year award sponsored by the greater shipment business network. So that's exciting. That's adding to 13 other business categories and well worth a read on page 5 of today's advisor. And also we've got the announcement of our latest winners of the $25,000, $500 giveaway competition. Yeah. It's not me, folks. I'm entering everyday, folks. I'm doing it for you. I'm buying a coffee and a bake of an egg roll from the lovely ladies down at the supermarket. I'm entering, but I just can't win if I win. You guys win. Sorry. You know, well, our entry level's been extraordinary. We returned to the hard copy entry this year, and we've got tens of thousands of entries for the first four weeks. And so we've got 19 days to go for the major draw, which is $5,000 compliments for the GMC. And a number of other prizes are included in the final draw, which is on Monday the 29th of July. The thing is I could give away with that kind of money. Well, it's as good as cash because it's a gift card from the GMC. And they're great supporters of business and the general public, and we're very pleased that we're associated with the GMCU in this very well-known annual competition. Yeah. Winners, just getting down to the nitty gritty, latest winners announced Plimo Vinpiers of Maroomba. And we've got Milton Grant of these shop at Food Works tetra. We've got Emily Solwiski of Telly Garoomba. We've got Lisa White, who shopped at Bella Brow Bar at Riverside Plaza. We've got Mabel Lee, who entered at I Love This Shop. And there are other winners as well. But if your listeners would like to refer to the list of where to shop, where you've got a chance to win, just go to page 28 of this, page 28 of today's advisor. And there's a complete list of where you can shop to have a chance of winning. Yeah. It's just about everywhere, isn't it? Well, there's 150 or so business involved. So it's throughout Shepperton, Maroomba, Tetra and Chabram. And it's a really successful competition. $500 is up for grabs, times six winners this week for a draw next Monday. So what's that? Fingers crossed. Absolutely. Plano, Toy World brings fun and joy to Shepperton. Right. Toy World. Toy World has come back to Shepperton. Where? There's a story on Banana Road. And they've opened under as part of Sports Power, Sports Power Group. There's a Toy World in Shepperton. And there's a story there featuring Caitlyn and Shannon Parker, who run that, a husband and wife team. So that's a really good for Shepperton. We've got also a whole lot of other stories. We've got health professionals featured. We've got classifieds. We've got our top six, well, in fact, we've got our top leaderboard for the AFL footy tipping competition. Plano, it starts, it's headed by Line Market is the number one. Good fella's car and truck rentals is number two. Food works is number three. Custom fencing is number four. Harvey Norman Furniture is number five. And fairly super IGA is number six. They're in the top six of our footy tipping. Fairly super IGA. I'm not saying that's a place I enter, but that's a place I enter. All right. Yeah, no, it's one of our popular entry points for the competition. Yeah. And Plano, we've got also a football preview for us. Yes. That's the GVFL. Yeah. And we've also, that's for footy and net ball by Sam Saracino. That's a good read and advice of sport. And we've got hockey talent heats up winter school holidays. It's a really nice fight off young hockey players. Is that a big sport locally? I know my sister used to play it. Is it still like going strong? It's huge. Yeah. Hockey is a really big sport. We've got fantastic hockey fields in North Chevron, not far from you, where you broadcast from. But it's a really good photo by Emmett Harrop of players, as soon as playing there. And we've got a whole lot of other news in this week's advisor. We've got, yeah, we've got a new section, a noted brief. And that's something that we started about two or three weeks ago. What is that, exactly? It's a section in the advisor that has, it's called briefly noted. And it's just a brief pieces of news of the district and region. Okay. For instance, an exhibition closing at Sam, there's a, the Ryan McInley exhibition that they're closing there on July 14th, that's World Renown. We've got Shepherd and Popstar, Top's Charts. Oh, who's that? That is Anthony Lucas, who grew up in Chipperton, is taking the world by storm. He's new, so overdrive. Oh, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll be passing charts. So, is he still in, is he still in, is he still in, I don't think so. No, yeah. I agree with the, I agree with the town. What's that? Yeah, I agree with the town. Yes. Yes. Yeah. So, and we've got Brett, Sister's Reach, Netball, Marston, Talley, a $250,000 boost for local mosque, and we've got the NAIDOC week, got a piece on that as well. So. And rallying for a course, the Morris Car Club. Yes, yes, we've got a story on the Morris Car Club rallying for a course. The Morris Car Club came to Chipperton, there are over a hundred iconic vehicles from all over Australia that came to Chipperton in April. And there's a story there where they've raised I think $4,000. So, and that's for the Lighthouse Project Pit Stop program, which is a fantastic program for people learning to be a mechanic, I think that's what that program is. Fantastic. Now, how do people find out, like, where do they go online to get the advisor? Yeah, well, they can go to our website, www.chippertonadvisor.com.au, there's also, if you get a copy of the advisor, which there's nearly 25,000 copies out there going out in tomorrow, you can get a free digital edition delivered to your inbox on your computer by just scanning the QR code on the front page of the advisor. And you'll get it automatically without even blinking once you've registered. And it's very easy to, if you would like to look at the advisor online. Yep, or kick an old school, wait for one to arrive in your letterbox. Well, you know, we're great believers in that, the hard copy. And a hard copy of the advisor, and we've got a tremendous number of readers that love the hard copy. Oh, yeah. Well, yeah, you like to peruse over a piece of, well, we grow up doing it, don't we? Yes. Yes. It's nothing like getting a copy of the advisor and having a copy of a copy and having a good read, some terrific, terrific bargains in there each week. And I tell you what, BBQ's cool, I've got some amazing buys. Are you a BBQ man? I am. I'm late in life, I've become a BBQ man, I cook a roast pork on the barbie in a good steak. Where am I coming for dinner? There's a fine outfit for cooking on the barbie. Do you rotate your pork? Like, do you have it on a rotisserie? Yeah, no, I haven't got a rotisserie, but I do rotate it. And the trick is to, I think it butcher told me this some time ago that the trick is for a really good roast pork. You don't necessarily need salt, but you clean your piece of pork, and you never have a knitty-glitty here the night before, and you put it on a plate, put it in the fridge, and let it dry out overnight. And then you wank it in the oven or the BBQ and it really crisps up very well. Take that ministry out naturally. There's a little bit of olive oil on it. Yeah. Well, thanks mate, now I'm bloody hungry. Gotta have to go and find a pork sandwich. You're not on your own. No, no, and we apologise to the listeners. The whole object is to bring information with the advisor, not making hungry. Alright mate, thank you very much for taking some time out this morning to speak to us. And, uh, we'll speak to you again soon. Have a great day today. You too. Jeff Adams from the Sheppernan Advisor, it'll be hitting you letterbox soon, or you can get it from the advisor website, uh, well, it's live right now, I was staring at it while I was talking. You've been listening to a one FM podcast.
