You're listening to a one FM podcast. AFL Masters is football that focuses on allowing mature players the opportunity to participate in our great game of Australian rules. You'll compete with similar aged players with the focus being on footy for fun and enjoying the spirit of Masters football in a family friendly environment. So if you still have the passion to play football and you want to be part of a club who supports men from a diverse range of backgrounds with a strong emphasis in supporting men's mental health, then this is the club for you. Whether you've played 300 games or if you've never played before, then it's time to get off the couch. GV Giants welcomes all players no matter what level of football experience you have. Find us on Facebook or call Golden Valley Giants coach Stephen Tate on 0434 582 959. That's 0434 582 959. And I just rang that number and I've got the same person on the line Stephen Tate the coach of the GV Giants. How are you Stephen? Good. Not too bad. Be carnival this weekend of course. I believe it's kicking off around now out there at Cuyaller and going to be a really big day out of Cuyaller there, Steve. Yeah, it is. We've got eight teams in total. The first game you can offer at the moment is Murray Croes from the dongler in South Coast Sharks. You can see how much for a key area so that you can kind of have a loss seven minutes to go. Yeah, no and it's going to be I believe a real carnival atmosphere this afternoon. There's food all day. I believe there's a bar all day so for patrons and participants alike it's going to be a really big day. And I believe that if you do want to play that you're setting up a site that you can go down and have a bit of a run around this afternoon as well, Steve. Is that correct? Yeah, so the league has a team here, I think a little bit shorter numbers. So, yeah, they're chasing up a couple of plays. Anyone over 35 want to pop down and have a little bit of a run. They could definitely do that. Their game starts at 12.40 today. So, yeah, today we're playing two games. They're two 20 minute hards. And, yeah, we play two games today with a final tonight. They're about six quarter past six. Yeah, no and I see you've got a really big squad. I've just got your Facebook post up at the Golden Valley GV joint masters there or GV joint masters. And I see it's a really huge squad. I see your name there. I see the host of the opening bounce. Jason Aslan's name there. A huge squad you've got this afternoon. It's probably easy for us because we don't have to travel. And the boys know they're going to get a fair run. And there's other teams that they'll be able to fill in for and those sort of things. So, unlike most of our masters, even where we just sort of just play for the social aspect of stuff today, there's a little bit more on the line with a final and a cup to win at the end. So, I think the boys are pretty excited to, you know, a little bit more of a competitive style of game today. And what's the crowd looking like at the moment? I know it's early doors. I know it's only just gone nine past 11 o'clock on a Saturday morning. What's the crowd looking like? I don't know because I'm at work at the moment. I would assume it would be pretty good. So, the good thing about today in the carnival is that there's no charge to come and watch. So, it's down at Clayola. I've been there at the May Noble at Clayola. Across from the Pepper Mill, our major sponsor. And, yeah, she'd come down. The food truck, as you said, is there was a bar open with soft drinks and other beverages and stuff. I was going to mention to my mum who was listening to the radio. So, the crowd is starting to build. Starting the build, yeah, that sounds really good. So, the water being seen there that are turning up and that sort of stuff and friends and family. All that's really being associated with it. The weather at the moment is actually not too bad. So, yeah, it's going to be a really, really big day. We're really excited for it. Yeah, look, the weather might turn slightly nasty later on. Not too bad. I think it's going to be periodic rain between midday through to about nine o'clock this evening. But maybe it might not be. It only might be just a light sprinkle here and there throughout the core city afternoon. But, we expect that this time of year, don't we, Steve? Yeah, absolutely. We've been really, really lucky over the last few years. We have been in the games in the wet. We've been super lucky. So, a lot of the boys probably have never really played in the wet before if they hadn't played a lot of footies. So, it's been pretty interesting. Clayola, the ground holds up extremely well. So, yeah, I think it'll be fine. Even though there's a little bit of rain that the clubs have got to mark these and bits and pieces of stuff. People will be able to sit under. So, there's going to be plenty of cover-up for everyone in the intergrade atmosphere. So, sure. Yeah, and I see just recently you had, and we'll give them a bit of a shout out. The Maritna Pizzeria fed the troops. The Alanite at training there. Yeah, it did. So, we wanted to, because a lot of the boys hadn't played in the carnal atmosphere, we thought we'd stick around and sort of go through what a carnival looks like in time and being organized and those sort of things. And, yeah, our trusty thoughts down there, Maritna Pizzeria. And, yeah, to plot some pieces for it. So, the boys are pretty happy to stay back and have a free feed. I see that I've got the carnival fixture in front of me there, and I see, like you say, the first game's on now. The second game involving the GB Giants is on 20 minutes to one o'clock this afternoon, and then there's a game involving Melton at 20 past two. And then at four o'clock, there's another, I believe, GB Giants game as well. So, two games there. The GB Giants are at 1.30, I should say. A different time there, but 1.30 is their first game. Bigger pardon. Yep. Yep. So, there's not much break between games. I think there's five or ten minutes between each game. So, it's constant all day. So, the hardest thing is going to be sort of managing between games. Obviously, a little bit of a cooler day keeping everyone warm and stretched up, and those sorts of things to be able to get through to the second game. And then, if we're lucky enough to play a good enough football to make a final, I think all of our 26th plays that we've got in our list will be required. So, it's been an interesting day. So, what happens in that regard? It's just a top two going through and playing the Grand final, is that it? Well, yeah. So, you get points for a win. Yep. And then also, if there's, say, three or four clubs that are tied on the fundamental wins or something like that, it'll go off full aggregate score. So, every point you kick or every goal you kick in that is extremely important, as well as obviously winning. So, you could win the first game and lose the second one, but you've had a really strong win or, you know, a high scoring game, and you can still possibly make it through to the final. So, both games are really going to count. So, just repeating the joints up in game four at 1.30 today, and then they play at four o'clock this afternoon as well in game seven, just repeating that to just clarify that for the listeners there as well. So, have you got any more on this carnival for a state to talk about? I'm not too much. Just boys and boys are pretty excited. And, you know, you're still a family environment. So, you know, if people want to come down and just have a look, if anyone is interested in playing some footy, you want to see what it's all about today is a perfect example of what a master football looks like. So, yeah, it's going to be pretty good that you can get down there and have a look. Yeah, like I say, you've even got like a mountain. But what they call themselves, the mountain super rules. And the Murray craze. Where are they from? The Murray craze. They're from Odonga. Odonga. When you look through, so, give them there as well, a true car. Murray craze is Odonga. South Coast is down near Torquay. Murrable, which is Meredith Way. Yeah, so there's some things that are travelling a little bit to come and play. So, yeah, it's a good vast range of sort of country masters. So, when's your next training session after this? I believe it'll be Wednesday is always around six o'clock at Cuyaller. Wednesday, Wednesday at six o'clock, we'll have a three-week break after this carnival. And then we'll play a night game against the true car as Deakin. So, we're gearing up for that one after we get through today. Yeah, that'll be a really big game. I believe that'll be on 1 FM, 98.5, live in like a sport as well. Yes, yeah, yep. So, the boys are very, very keen for that one to hear their names in the radio, hopefully. Yeah, no, that'll be a really interesting night. Can't wait for that. Well, look, if you've got no more for us, Steve, I'll let you go and let you work away and get to your carnival. Thank you so much. Thank you. No worries. Thanks for your time today, Steve. And good luck with the course. Thank you. The GB joins. Hope you win both games in the final as well a little later on today. Definitely. Thank you so much. That was a cool Steve Tate. He is the coach of the GB joins. Really excited today about the carnival out at Cuyaller. There's a game underway now started at 11 o'clock this morning. There are eight games all up. Like I said, first at 11 a.m. the final game, which is game eight, gets underway. 10 minutes to five o'clock this afternoon. And of course, the GB joins are involved in game four at one thirty. And then they are involved in the second last game, game seven at four o'clock. That is of the qualifying rounds to get into the grand final. So, let's hope that the course to GB joins win both their games and an experience to the grand final. So, good luck to the GB joins. Big carnival out there. If you want to go, check it and check that out. This afternoon, the carnival out there at the course, Cuyaller. Sounds like a really, really big day. You know the garden could do with a makeover? So, what are you waiting for? Cleve's garden supplies have got everything you need to get the job done. And they're open seven days a week. Coloured mulches, decorative pebbles, river stones, crushed rocks, sand, gravel, sleepers, topsoils, pavers. You name it? They've got it. I'm going to go to the next one. I'm going to go to the next one. I'm going to go to the next one. I'm going to go to the next one. I'm going to go to the next one.
