You're listening to a 1FM podcast. You're listening to Youth Matters on 1FM 98.5. Welcome back to Women's Hour on 1FM. I hope you are all having an amazing night. This afternoon, we're talking about statistics in feminism. You may not know. I found some things while doing research and thought that I should just share it on a whole program, some of these interesting statistics. It's something I haven't done before and I thought you might find it interesting. Live and local, 1FM. Welcome back to Women's Hour on 1FM. I hope you're all having a great afternoon. If you didn't already hear today, I'm talking about statistics I've found in feminism and in women's activism in Australia. In Australia, stats show that women make up around 40% of the total workforce, but they are under-represented in leadership positions. In Australia, an interesting statistic related to feminism and women's rights is, of course, that the gender pay gap still exists. On average, women in Australia earn around 13.4% less than men, highlighting ongoing challenges and achieving pay equality between the genders. This wage gap disparity is a significant issue that impacts women's economic empowerment and financial independence. In Australia, one in three women, so 34%, have experienced physical violence since the age of just 15. In Australia, 93% of women and 95% of men believe that gender equality is important, but only 52% of women and 28% of men believe that gender equality has actually been achieved in Australia. This highlights the gap between perceived importance of gender equality and the reality of its achievement, indicating that there is still work to be done to achieve the gender equality in Australia. I hope you all found that as interesting as I did, I really searched deep for some of these, and yeah, I found it really fascinating. So stay tuned for some more songs, and I hope you also found these fascinating. - One FM. - Welcome back to Women's Hour on One FM.
