The Golf Show with thanks to Next Level Golf, visit www.nextlevelgolf.com.au and take your game to the next level. Oh, he's the Super Secretary of the Golden Murray Golf Association. Of course, he's the hilltop hoard. He's coming in live from sunny Tuchira on this Saturday morning live from his study, as he does the show on a weekly basis. I speak Nara, then devastating Dave Roberts. How are you Dave? I'm extremely well Mark. Thank you for that wonderful introduction here today and it is yeah it's sunny but I think ships one degree warmer than tap a moment according to the temperature on my computer thing so yeah but no I cannot see a cloud in the sky. Will you all know that Tats closer to the equator so that would make sense that it's one degree warmer. I don't know if we're one degree warmer or one degree colder but we're probably about the same. Can you tell the difference of one degree in any day? Any day? I can't tell the difference in any degree is let alone one degree. That's about right. So what are you being up to for the week? I've been just watching Royal Ascot and being all blurry-eyed with that and doing some stuff around 1 FM and you know I'm actually James Bond. My Suzuki actually is a disguise very nice to Aston Martin. It's a great disguise isn't it and of course the body I get around in well it's not my real one of course Her Majesty Secret Services. I'm only joking of course I'm not James Bond saving the world. Well you should have been on your His Majesty Secret Service if you were at Watch and Ascot, a Ballarat horse won a big race. Yeah it did. As for a course won the Old King Stan. They now call it the King Charles the third and yeah it was a great win. Never in doubt really. Look like it was going to win a long way from home as well and I think it's the six dozzy horse now the win that particular race date. Oh okay yeah well there's an interesting fact it's good to see the colonies the horses from the colonies doing well in the home countries. Yeah well we've got it over and when it comes to the sprinters but they've got it over us when it comes to the Stayers. Oh right okay so yeah it's a bit yeah it's a bit one and a half dozen of the other but in saying that our Stayers of course got them last you hear in the Melbourne Cup but yeah generally their Stayers are better bred than else. Okay right I've learnt more about horses in the last 30 seconds and I have for the rest of my life I think. Now tell me in relation to Frost and Golf what happens in that situation are you allowed to play during any frost or if there's frost you have to wait I thought you might have to wait. Yep is frost don't go near it any golf any golf is listening if you've got frost on your golf course don't go on the course until the frost is gone. What happens if you go and play walk drive your golf buggy pull your golf buggy drive your golf cart anything like that on the frost because the grass is frozen when you go on top of it you snap the cells in the grass and that kills some of the grass so you expect you'd see that it's the scourge of a lot of golf course supervisors if someone especially if someone walks on the green kills the cells of the grass and that yeah then they've got a patches of dead grass on their greens because of people going on the frost so you'll find on well virtually every golf course all they should but course super wise it won't allow competition play or anyone out there until till the frost's gone. Yep and do they measure that just by sight or is there some sort of pematrometer or something they use to measure that with dayburns it just by sight and they just say okay clear the pipe yeah most especially around here I think most of be done by sight yeah as you you mentioned pematrometers there there are things that that can be used but a lot of them will just go on sight because if you use sight you can actually say to somebody who's there yeah look at it don't go there and oh look Wednesday morning here at Tat Bizzarek one of the best frost we've had for years it was just thick so and well I just now at hilltop the the copper hilltop on Wednesday was held up till quarter past ten before before they could go out and play and what usually happens then and well it's you'll get that nearly all golf courses that the the course staff will go out with a mower or or some device and a lot of them do it every day anyway just take the the dew off the greens to help help the the greens dry out rather than having the dew that can cause fungus and all sorts of stuff if it settles on the green so I know people too that aren't necessarily golf as they go for morning walks on golf course I suppose you can't do much about that if you get a a person from the community out on their walk and they're just walking through the frost on the golf course I suppose there's not a lot you can really do about that is there no you can't except you just what wave to them and try and try and get to them follow a gravel path or something and get to them and explain to them the situation to you know go and walk in the trees or walk up that side where there's no frost that sort of thing but yeah no frost I don't like frost on golf courses yep well what do you got for a stave locally nationally internationally in the way ago right oh let's cut the real local things i'm going to start with today um last week i was going on about playing with the new chef at hilltop james brie now i made a statement that um i said we were lucky that he's a better chef than he is a golfer and i'm i'm sticking to that um that statement i've had a few people stir me up about that but look on Thursday night again Thursday afternoon i had the pleasure of playing with james in chukran and he won nearest the pin after me saying he's not a good golfer he's won nearest the pin on Thursday afternoon so i've copped a bit of that that uh i'm not up to the standard to get near him so welcome to golf james well done um also last night i had a great chat to rushworth legend kohl barlow i reckon kohl was on cooking duties last night because he was buying take away up at uh hilltop so i reckon that was his sneaky way of saying that he cooked the dinner uh he was talking he mentioned talking to jim perry who um listens to this show so good on your jim i'm glad you're listening over there no wreak counting the great score of jarrod hitchcock a few years ago at 58 points so jim if you're tuning in there today get yourself or get slim or one of the rushy guys send me your scores over so we can get them into this um into this program which we're going to be good to have another another club in and welcome aboard uh right over the big one last week the us open um yeah sort of interesting for well very interesting finish here let's let's get the big news out first bryson de shambol won his second at u s open and bear dinkham he played a magnificent shot on the 18th hole out of a bunker sunk the putt for a part of win but most of the stories are being about rory mackell roy he had his chance to win his second um but he just went into a i don't know a bit of a pucking meltdown i'm not allowed to say that sort of thing um he charged early um de shambro was leading after the round three and then mackell roy really charged early in the um in the game uh he was he was seven under with one shot lead over de shambo coming up to 15 oh he missed a three foot putt on the 16th at a bogey missed a putt on the 15th at a bogey um he went to the 18th he was tied with de shambo he only need to if he had a par they would have had a playoff um he missed another um short putt um so tried to look up and say in the first 69 holes of the championship uh mackell roy didn't miss a putt inside um bit over a meter four feet the american still use and he missed two of those in the last three holes so yeah i think nerves get to people no matter how good you are but yeah let's give credit to brison de shamboli he won his second and that shot out of the 18th was was absolutely incredible uh what's on now is the women the lpga kpmg women's championship uh the great lexy tompson started magnificently she was four under yesterday to be leading after round one uh world number one nally quarter hot on her tails when mine is through now a lot of them are still out there so i have a quick look i'm in it but um american sera shemsel is leading um a couple minutes ago steff uh she's six under uh steff cryo from astray the best aussie she was pushed she was four under after 15 holes nally quarters having a really bad day she was six over after 10 holes so if i just click on here for a minute now um refes this yes mensual still she's finished and she's leading six under the koreans are making a charge um yang from korea sabuno from japan co from korea lexy tompson there they're all four under roof from korea is uh three under and steff cryo co is up there she's four under after 15 uh she's two under so there you go i think poor old nally quarter let's see how nally's gone even great golfers can have a bit of a bad day or a real bad had a groans down there four over the day mingy lose even she's finished um like she can't see nally quarter here at the moment i'll waste half the morning just trying to find her so no she must be must be haven't even even worse from when i when i last look so there a pretty interesting uh field then the koreans are really having a charge at the americans in this um in the women's pga at charally a country club so yeah that'll be uh one for us to check on for the see the winner for next week uh rodo a lot of other golf news about is are the olympics um min woo lee and jason day have been selected for the uh for their ticket to the paris olympics and min sister mingy lee mingy lee and hannah green uh will be the two women on the austrian team so i don't know if that's the first time there's ever been a brother and sister in the olympic team and i won't find out uh during the week yeah last week pore of the young gung race kim she just she conceded that the nerves kicked in she was on a big guard lead in the lpa event um and she lost in the third out of what i think she had a four or five shot lead on the last day and faded away then she um she lost the third hole of the playoff so um yeah but she she admitted um the the nerves got to her so that's something she'll actually learn from i i bet very well uh where we go now locals are the vets the vets play this week at a valley view cuyabram last monday big thanks to rushworth community bank who with the sponsor along association uh tough day for it's win agrades at that 31 only 31 points i was a tough for the low handicappers uh b-grade winner 35 points gary bow from nagambi and seagrade winner richard stock dial from park land also on 35 points so yeah the b and seagraders had better scores than the agraders uh the next vets event is monday the 15th of july at shepherd and golf club nine 30 assemble it's a four ball so get your partner organized before you get there and good luck with that uh to our mates at marygan a great billy brian news reporter uh tells us that the cliff pointy memorial four ball best ball event was played last saturday um cliff was a really valued member and big worker from marygan back in the 80s and 90s um had a lot to do with the funding and the construction of their clubhouse um closely contested event a john fuller and tony birelli were for the four there with a plus eight to win though that event tony would have known a cliff so that's good that the connection is made uh greg brian oh bruce brown and greg hall with runners up with a plus seven so a good event there and you guys should get ready you're playing stable for the replied privilege cup out there today no you're not you're playing saturday you're sorry i've got the two weeks mixed up you're playing saturday's events stableford and you're playing for the privilege cup the next week sorry about that bill uh valley view despite perfect conditions little to write home about from saturday's stable of event the only bright spot being paul cooper's seven iron to the par three third that finished just center leaders from the cup bad luck paul you didn't get your hole in one it was as close as collinwood's win against a north melbourne scoop reports so there you go um probably the big highlight of the week from valley view tuesday's event uh the two young lads will harrison and johnty safton finished first and second with forty and thirty eight points so there's the future of the club there well done boys great to see the juniors having a win saturday a grade winner was peter blackmore with thirty five points boogrades steven brown with thirty four points and for the ladies sharon harrison one there with thirty five points and they want to say a big thank you to andrew and melissa porch for the team at koi higher and batteries for their sponsorship of that event that they've just played every every year great stuff golf clubs can't get on very well without sponsors so thank you for that to marupna monday they played a event of stableford and peter what's won that with forty three points that's i think that's the best score of the week in hand uh first day stableford event was a grime across be with forty points saturday men was a stroke and monthly medal travis carter had a seventy one net the best score of the day so he's won the middle and boograde agrade matt gibson with a seventy two net and seagrade nick kelaguerigus with seventy two net sunday the best score was matt mcclean with thirty six points wednesday's ladies around the rain howard had the best score of a seventy nine net um must have been pretty tough out there on wednesday after the frost and everything got by saturday kfork now had the best score there with a seventy five over to parkland and here's another good one the winners on saturday in a men's and women's four ball event the win winners of the men's event were oliver and lem mcginnis with forty five points so there's two brothers two juniors and they've scooped the pool over there well done guys proud of you they are part of the gmga junior event so good to see them to the four uh women militia gasson and a daphne jewell won the women's event with forty two points uh tuesday stablford honor hoe bone one agrade with thirty three died day one begrade with thirty five and seagrade was won by elisa barns on thirty eight so that was a pretty good scores there for the women uh closer to home uh hilltop women are feeling a bit cold were you bad luck ladies it certainly was couple of weeks wednesday's a go that's a report uh that the field open golf being played at hilltop anyone can enter uh and michael down's played in what was traditionally the women's field a few of the men played in and michael down's just scraped into win a monthly medal uh terry wangman won agrade sue turnball would rue her bad seventh hole she said she played every bunker going down the seventh and she won a b-grade uh nine hole event was won by janet lay with a forty two net well done janet has ended golf plays nine holes most time so it's good to see uh some of the new golfers started to enjoy it with a win uh they had big pink day last wednesday everyone in pink for a um adi cancer and so we'll hear about that next saturday i guess uh the other bits of hilltop go back to the king's birthday monday event with big thanks to the sponsors of admore plumbing to brady burt pat family butchers for our meal on the course uh cali hoe a couple of highway men from beachworth jonathan sherryt that's a famous beachworth bush ranging name sherryts were um involved with the cali gang with they and dillant pool uh they scoop the paul with a combined score of 80 uh well done guys and runner reports here they should have been arrested for the outstanding colored shorts that they wore for the day uh gary rooster had a hole in one couple of thursdays ago was reported well done gary there's a women had many holeings one reported in the last few weeks uh following the king's birthday tuesday golfers every and the trifelga guys were gone that tuesday golfers stayed inside because it was raining then runner finds it's bike week so all the fortunes go to the like relovers also uh thursday buggy bikes again trying to ride their putts home ken would was the maulven star his 39 points showed the others a clean pair of wheels uh took run first a arbo some chooks might have the flu 18 fit golf has got their gears on kevin greed came out the lurdy was a giant killer 22 points well done greedy uh saturday peddlers clickety clack cal doe family sponsored the stroke event agrade gavin thomas one or two under the card net two under um he got the yellow leader shit uh begrade solo riding michael down one under the card and seagrade two outsiders outright and so i'm not outside as uh trump wane a duffy three on the card a new golfer austin dullard finished second good to see austin up there as he's pretty new to golf oh there were troubles on the sixth time but we haven't got time to go all through that to shipen uh testing week extremely cold we've talked about that before only a tuesday there only had seven people game enough to go out and that was one by bailey coom so well the hope they gave the extra extra prize bailey for going out on that right on tuesday uh wednesday the women's event uh winning team kim at morris and leanne bailey they got a nod on the count back and in the nine hole event gay gia vanettey was their winner with 13 points thursday agrade went to darrin hall begrade coupe grey leader topping 42 points friday close finish in the women's central tyre service nine hole with k hanson winning the
