AP News. I'm Jackie Quinn. Long-awaited hopes for a ceasefire in Israel appear to be moving forward. President Biden tells reporters, "I hope by the beginning of the weekend. I'm at the end of the weekend. At least my national security advisor tells me that we're close. We're close. We're not done yet. And my hope is by next Monday we'll have a ceasefire." He was in New York for a fundraising trip. Tomorrow comes the Michigan primary where former President Trump squares off against Nikki Haley and President Biden is on the Democrats' ballot. This Detroit voter Terry Johnson says there's not that much enthusiasm. "I don't see the excitement that was there during the first time that Obama ran. What I see is despair." Prosecutors in Manhattan, New York are seeking a gag order against Donald Trump for his upcoming "Hush Money" trial. Authorities in Alaska say a shooting at a home in a remote whaling village on Alaska's northwest coast has resulted in multiple deaths. Grim news from the Caribbean surrounding a Virginia couple whose catamaran was hijacked. Here's our Lisa Dwyer. Police say that after their catamaran was hijacked by three escaped prisoners last week that they now believe Ralph Hendry and Kathy Randall were thrown into the ocean and died. The Royal Grenada Police Force says the three prisoners escaped on February 18th and hijacked the catamaran simplicity the following day. Forecasters are urging caution across parts of the Oregon Cascades and Northern Rockies with near-blizzard conditions in the forecast. But in Chicago today, temperatures reached 72 degrees, breaking a record for February. Stocks ended lower today. The AP Seth Soutel reports on two stocks that lagged. The quarantine is over for a U.S. cruise ship blocked from docking because of fears of illness. "A U.S. owned luxury cruise ship with more than 3,000 passengers and crew has been allowed to dock into the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius. It was quarantined offshore for a day over fears of a possible color outbreak on board. The Mauritius government cleared the Norwegian Dawn, which is owned and run by the Miami-based Norwegian cruise lines, to dock at the harbor and the capital, Port Lewis. Health officials found no traces of color and tests conducted on the ship's water. Authorities blocked the ship from docking Sunday because 15 people on board were ill with vomiting and diarrhea. iNorman Hall.
