AP News, I'm Ed Donichy President Biden meets tomorrow with congressional leaders at the White House about aid to Ukraine and Israel, border security, and the threat of a partial government shutdown. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is back after meeting with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. He said if Ukraine gets the aid currently stalled in the House, they'll win the war. But he also said that if Congress does not pass the supplemental, with all the ammo and anti-air defenses and long-range artillery, it would provide they will lose. It was that simple. Anytime French President Emmanuel Macron says sending Western troops on the ground in Ukraine has not been ruled out in the future. A report to the FAA says there is a disconnect between senior management and workers over safety at Boeing. Here's the AP's David Conik. We had that emergency door panel blow out of an Alaska Airlines Boeing max jetliner. And that has just reinvigorated all these questions around safety and quality of manufacturing at Boeing. And so this is just having more pressure on Boeing to get its house in order. Experts also say safety training and procedures at Boeing are constantly changing, leading to confusion among employees. The Federal Trade Commission says it's worried about higher prices at grocery stores and is blocking a big deal to merge Kroger and Albertsons. Here's the AP Shelley Adler. Kroger and Albertsons agreed to merge in October of last year. The company said a merger would help them better compete with Walmart, Amazon, Costco and other big rivals. Both companies immediately said they would challenge the FTC in court. In Los Angeles today, Alexander Smirnoff, the former FBI informant, charged with fabricating a multi-million dollar bribery scheme involving President Biden's family, is being ordered to stay behind bars while he awaits trial. The S&P 500 slipped 4/10 percent Monday. The Dow lost 62 points. That's about 2/10 percent. The Nasdaq composite slipped 1/10 of a percent. Berkshire Hathaway was one of the heaviest weights on the market, even though Warren Buffett's company reported stronger results for the end of 2023, then analysts had expected. Amazon slipped after officially joining the Dow. Walgreens' boost lines, which is leaving the Dow, fell 3-4/10 percent. Domino's pizza jumped to one of the market's biggest gains that came after reporting stronger profit than expected. The pizza delivery company rose almost 6 percent. Treasury yields ticked higher that helped keep the stock market calm. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 4.28 percent. Seth Zootel, New York.
