AP News. Good morning. I may have done it. Lawyers reformer president Donald Trump had filed an appeal of his four hundred fifty four million dollar civil fraud judgment in New York. They're challenging a judge's finding Trump lied about his wealth as he grew his real estate empire. Donald Trump meantime is looking ahead after a big primary victory over the weekend in South Carolina. He's focused now on Michigan tomorrow. Michigan State University's Institute for Policy and Social Researchers Matt Grossman says a lot is at stake. We are expecting to have a lot of candidate visits and advertising and of course, it's a symbolically important as one of the three states that moved to Trump in 2016 and then moved back to Biden in 2020. Police say an active duty member of the Air Force has died after he set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington. Twenty five year old airman Aaron Bushnell from Texas declared he will no longer be complicit in genocide. A former FBI informant is due in court. He's accused of concocting a bribery scheme involving President Biden's family. Special counsel David Weiss his office is pressing the judge to keep Alexander Smirnoff in jail, arguing the man who claims to have ties to Russian intelligence is likely to flee the country. Smirnoff is charged with falsely telling the FBI that executives from the Ukrainian energy company Barisma had paid Biden and his son Hunter $5 million each. The claim became central to the Republican impeachment inquiry of the president. I'm Julie Walker, a private lunar lander is expected to cease operations tomorrow. The S&P 500 was little changed in early trading Monday. Last week it closed at an all time high. The index is on track for its fourth straight monthly gain. The Dow was up 84 points. That's about two 10th percent. The Nasdaq composite was one 10th of a percent higher. Berkshire Hathaway was helping to support the market. Warren Buffett's company reported stronger results for the end of 2023 than analysts had expected. The company's less expensive class B shares were up about 1%. Bondiels were holding relatively steady. That helped keep things calm in the stock market. The yield on the 10 year treasury note was little changed at 4.26% Seth Zutel, New York.
