The Supreme Court is taking up challenges to state laws today that could affect how Facebook, TikTok, X and other social media platforms regulate content posted by their users. Michigan's presidential primary is tomorrow, and Nikki Haley is staying in the race for the Republican nomination, despite pressure to drop out the AP's Jackie Quinn. Now that Donald Trump's made it four in a row with his win in South Carolina, the next contest comes Tuesday in Michigan. I have never seen the Republican Party so unified as it is right now. But Nikki Haley isn't giving up, saying many voters want an alternative. In the next ten days, another 21 states and territories will speak. They have the right to a real choice. I'm Jackie Quinn. Republican National Committee Chair Rhoda McDaniel will resign on March 8th. She announced her decision this morning. Donald Trump recently said he preferred somebody else in that job. North Carolina GOP Chair Michael Watley, an airman in the Air Force has died after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington. 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell of San Antonio, Texas reportedly had said he would no longer be complicit in genocide. Israel adamantly denies genocide allegations. Mother Nature is going to let some areas of this nation have it. Severe weather will move through the mid-Mississippi Valley and on into parts of the Great Lakes, according to the National Weather Services, Andrew Orson. We're looking at a threat for locally damaging winds, some large hail and potentially a few 20-year-olds. And it does look like the biggest threat for this is going to be for tomorrow afternoon through tomorrow evening and the overnight period going into very early on Wednesday. This is AP News. Now to the economy. Like forecasters are rosy about the U.S. economy and a new survey released by the National Association for Business Economics, professional economists from universities, businesses and investment firms are predicting a much better year than they were just a few months ago, with a forecast of 2.2% growth after inflation from just 1.3% predicted in November. Economists also have more than doubled their estimates for the number of jobs gained across the economy this year. Bill and Zentner, Chief U.S. economist at Morgan Stanley and the President of the NABE, set a wide range of factors are behind the 2024 upgrade, including spending by both the government and households. The U.S. job market and household spending have been resilient in the face of high interest rates that made mortgages and credit card bills more expensive. While prices are still higher than consumers would like, inflation has slowed enough that most of the surveyed forecasters expect interest rate cuts to begin by mid-June. And I'm Rita Foley, AP News.
