Broadcast on:

The Alabama Freshwater Fishing Report is your best resource for the Lake Guntersville Fishing Report, Weiss Lake Fishing Report, Lake Eufaula Fishing Report, Mobile Tensaw Delta Fishing Report, and all the creeks, rivers, and reservoirs in between.

In this episode, host Nick Williams welcomes special guest Logan Parks, a seasoned angler from Auburn, Alabama. Logan is known for founding the Auburn High School bass fishing team and later winning the 2021 Bass Pro Shops Open with Tucker Smith, taking home a million-dollar prize. Logan shares insights on fishing near Auburn, emphasizing the diversity of local fisheries such as the Chattahoochee and Tallapoosa rivers, and Lake Martin, where he recently fished and caught numerous fish during the fall transition.

Logan details the top techniques that worked on Lake Martin, highlighting a shallow topwater bite, targeting baitfish using sonar, and fishing around shoals. He recommends using baits like the Berkley Chapo and jigheads to maximize success. With fish moving shallower due to cooling water temperatures, Logan expects the bite to improve even more in the coming weeks.

Logan also discusses the upcoming 2024 National Student Angler Networking Event (INSANE), hosted by the Logan Parks Fishing Foundation. This event connects high school and college anglers, offering them opportunities to showcase their skills and earn scholarships. Set for October 4-6 in Auburn, Alabama, the event features a draft where college anglers select high school partners, with cash prizes up to $25,000 for first place.

Next, Nick talks with Rowell Guevarra, who recently returned from a fishing trip to Alaska and Colorado. Rowell shares his experiences fishing in Ketchikan, Alaska, including fly fishing for salmon and rainbow trout, crabbing, and encountering bears. He contrasts the cool Alaskan weather and fishing conditions with the challenges of fishing in Alabama's heat. Rowell also shares tips for those interested in fly fishing trips and the benefits of hiring a guide when fishing in unfamiliar areas.

Finally, Rowell provides an update on the Tallapoosa River, noting improved water levels and fishing conditions due to recent rain. He encourages listeners to book trips with East Alabama Fly Fishing for a chance to experience the local rivers.
