Fejeton Barbory Šťastné. Když pozoruji sousedy, kteří před domem nakládají lyžařskou výbavu na střechu auta a vyrážejí kamsi do horoucích pekel, prožívám pokaždé vlnu úlevy, ba euforie. Já totiž ani letos na hory nemusím.
Moje nenávist k lyžování se zrodila v raném dětství, když jsem byla coby dítě ze sudetského Podkrušnohoří poslána do lyžařské školy. Od ledna do března každou sobotu a neděli ráno podnikový autobus uranových dolů plný rozespalých dětí šplhal serpentinami do kopců k Božímu Daru. Tam nás přivítal buď vichr metající do tváří štiplavě zmrzlý sníh, nebo kalná mlha, případně obojí. Museli jsme naložit lyže na ramena a klopýtat po větrné planině ke sjezdovce s příznačným názvem Neklid. Šusťákové oteplovačky byly obvykle promáčené dřív, než jsme tam došli, doma pletené šály a čepice se pokryly zmrzlou krustou a prsty v mokrých vlněných rukavicích zčervenaly zimou. Následovalo martyrium zapínání zmrzlých přezkáčů, s nimiž jsem se obvykle mordovala ještě ve chvíli, kdy všechny ostatní děti už stály seřazené na svahu. Potom jsme se pluhem pachtili dolů po sjezdovce za pořvávání instruktorů a v poledne jsme si mohli u vleku sníst zmrzlou svačinu.
