She's a former national defense fellow at the Ronald Reagan Institute. Thank you so much Presley for being in here. I sure do appreciate you. Thanks for having me on. So, yeah, a bit of a different Monday than we thought we might see. But although going into it, everybody's kind of rolling the dice and thinking, yeah, this is gonna be the week and the Joe steps aside. The noise got louder Friday, Saturday, and then obviously on Sunday, here we are. So, here we are. Time to. Definitely been a very eventful week. I mean, my gosh, is it time to anoint Kamala? I mean, it seems to be, that's where they're headed with this whole situation. Is that a 100% given? What about Joe Manchin or anybody else that might want to come in? You know, I think it would have been a given if President Obama had come out and said that he was also supporting Vice President Harris, but he hasn't done that. His wife hasn't done that. How came Japanese hasn't done that. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer haven't done that. And I think that those are the more prominent voices in the Democratic Party that people are listening to. Like, sure, the Clintons, Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, those people coming out. Yeah, it means something. But Obama's the leader of the Democratic Party. And so when he said something, I think that that will we'll see of the deal for Kamala. Well, isn't that interesting? So why haven't they? Where is Schumer, Pelosi, and Obama? What are they, what's the strategy on them being silent right now? Right, you know, I think that they're weighing the poll numbers and trying to see if she's really the best candidate to take out Trump because Trump has been pulling well in all the swing states. He was pulling really well over Joe Biden, like extremely well to the point that scared the Democrats and this whole storm has happened. I think that they're trying to determine whether they think Kamala can actually win. I think they're probably going to allow her to announce a vice presidential pick and see if that changes any of the poll numbers in the Midwest before they throw their full weight behind it. Well, when you've got people like Joe Manchin is kind of hinted that maybe I'll just, you know, switch back over to the Democratic Party and I'll jump here and do this. He can't just say that and do it, right? I mean, the party has to kind of agree to allow that to happen. Yeah, I mean, Joe Manchin gives everyone in DC a headache, no matter which party you're in. So I think that I think that that's unrealistic because Joe Manchin is constantly toeing that line of my state voted for Trump twice, but I'm a Democrat or a former Democrat. So he's he's trying to tip toe around to keep his his seat in the Senate. And I think that's been the case for a long time. I don't I don't see that as a realistic replacement. Okay. You know, everybody says, well, we need Joe Manchin over the Republican Party. No, we don't keep him right where he is. No, we don't. No, plus his votes over there kind of, you know, sometimes goes with the Republicans. So we'll we'll keep him over there as a, you know, a mold, if you will, inside the Democratic Party. Well, get his occasional vote every once in a while, but we don't need it. So with Kamala Harris being bootstrapped to Joe Biden's presidency, what changes for her? What makes her a more viable possibility against Donald Trump? I mean, her approval ratings lower than Joe Biden's. She did terrible in the Democratic primary leading up to this. She didn't even make Iowa had to drop out real early. So, I mean, why Kamala? Just because she's the VP does it send a resounding, horrible message to the Democratic voter if they don't support her? I mean, what does she bring to the table that really makes her the one to be? Well, she does pull in, she pulls really well with African Americans with women and with young people well relatively, but compared to Joe Biden. So I think that they're thinking that her as a as a woman of color will pull in the suburban women, especially that Donald Trump lost in 2020. That was a key demographic for Joe Biden's win. So I think they're looking at her as a way to pull in some of those demographics. But I think that she needs to be very strategic in who she picks as a vice president for price, vice presidential candidate because she is a California Democrat. The Midwest doesn't like that. The Southern Democrats don't typically like that. So I think she'll need to go with someone from a Midwest state or border state that is going to even out some of her politics, even out her low points, like the border that she was in charge of for three and a half years. That's been a disaster. Right. Well, you look at the possibilities. Let me throw some names at you that she might pull in there. The governor from Kentucky, Kentucky rather Beshear. What about Shapiro in Pennsylvania? How about what's the governor in Maryland? Moore, the Democrat there, Governor Moore, Whitmer. I mean, and then you got Pete Buttigieg out there as our transportation secretary. I mean, what do you think white male? I definitely think it's going to be a white man. So I saw Westmore speak last year at a conference and I thought he was a very impressive person and he's definitely somebody to look out for future tickets. I think that he will do well in a presidential race in the future. But I don't think that they'll pick him because I don't think that they'll pick two people of color for this ticket in the same light. I don't think they'll pick Gretchen Whitmer who wants the big prize too. So I doubt she would accept a VP, but I don't think they'll put two women on the ticket. I think we're looking at Josh Shapiro, Andy, Andy Beshear, Roy Cooper or Mark Kelly. I think those are the big people that we should. All right. Well, we'll have plenty to talk about the rest of the week. There's no doubt about that. And maybe the rest of the month and into, you know, all the way to November on this one too.
