A $300,000 state grant has been awarded to 17 Rockingham County agencies, supported by Reed'sville Area Foundation to expand reliable, affordable, high-speed internet access. News agencies will receive $7,500 in startup funds, Cone Health, UNC Health's Rockingham, Madison Mid-End Recreation Commission, Rockingham County Partnership for Children, Department of Health and Human Services and Student Health Centers, and new Reed'sville Housing Authority. The right here, right now project, will provide community digital literacy workshops, device lending programs at all public libraries, and a Computer Technology Learning Hub at Sharon Community Outreach Center in Stonewall, plus new programs with Rockingham County Schools and Rockingham Community College. And municipalities will benefit with expanded Wi-Fi to trails, picnic areas, and along waterways. In accidental death in the Williamsburg community, a man in his early 70s was fishing on a farm pond had a medical emergency died and fell from his boat into the water. That happened Sunday.
