"This is your 24/7 News Update, the latest views this hour in just four minutes." The White House is putting a spotlight on actions taken by President Trump in his first week since taking office. Press Secretary Caroline Levitt discussed immigration raids, drones in New Jersey, and the federal aid freeze during her first press briefing. She also defended President Trump's executive order that aims to limit birthright citizenship. In the briefing, Levitt said the administration is prepared to defend the action all the way to the highest court in the land. "This administration believes that birthright citizenship is unconstitutional. And that is why President Trump signed that executive order." Levitt also read out a list of some of the illegal immigrants who have been detained during raids this week. Less than half of Americans trust President Trump or Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the country on health issues. A KFF study shows that 42 percent of respondents said they have at least a fair amount of trust in Trump to make good recommendations on health issues. A similar amount said the same about Dr. Mehmet Oz, who Trump picked to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and HHS nominee Kennedy. Norfolk Southern in the village of East Palestine, Ohio are reaching a settlement over a trained derailment in 2023 that led to a toxic spill. The derailment caused toxic chemicals to contaminate the air, soil, and creeks in the area. East Palestine will be provided $22 million from the railway company to use for needs identified connected to the incident. Alice Aidsfire evacuees in California are complaining about the process of repopulation. This man recorded a video of his encounter with sheriff's deputies, who told him he needed to get a pass before he could visit his property. "So it's January 27th. I haven't been able to get to my house for 20 days." "I fully understand that." "And it's right down there. It's about one minute over there." "Yes, sir." "And here's my address." "Yeah, I fully understand that." "So you want me to go wait in line for two hours." He recorded again after getting to the line and estimated it would take five hours to get to the front of the line. This week President Trump and Los Angeles Mayor Bass declared that all evacuated residents could re-enter the burn zone with proper identification. A Trans woman is suing President Trump over plans to move her to a men's prison. Her lawsuit argues that Trump's executive order requiring the Federal Bureau of Prisons to house trans inmates according to their sex assigned at birth violates two constitutional amendments. The complaint accuses the order of directly targeting transgender Americans by denying them legal recognition and stripping their long established protections. The order, which Trump signed just after his inauguration, recognizes only two sexes and aims to end government spending on what his administration deems gender ideology. New York's Mayor Eric Adams is being summoned to the nation's capital to discuss New York's sanctuary city status. It's part of President Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration, the House Oversight Committee assent letters to Adams and the mayors of Chicago, Boston and Denver, demanding that they testify on February 11th about their city's sanctuary status. The letter claims Adams and the others are refusing to cooperate with ICE, hindering their ability to carry out safe raids. The Adams team has released a statement saying it's committed to fixing our broken immigration system and removing dangerous criminals but will continue to protect the rights of hardworking immigrants. It's unclear whether Adams will testify before Congress. The Texas Agriculture Commissioner is launching an anonymous survey of the state's farmers to find out if any rely on the migrant workforce. Sid Miller doubts that many will be affected by the Trump administration's immigration crackdowns. He says the agriculture industry has become high tech and that means there's less reliance on humans to pick the crops. The men's college basketball championship comes to San Antonio in just 68 days.
