President Trump is putting a freeze on federal aid, a White House internal memo reportedly said the temporary pause will go into effect at 5 p.m. Eastern and allow for agency programs to be reviewed. The freeze will not impact social security, Medicare, or direct payments to individuals. Immigration raids continue across the country. According to immigration and customs enforcement's ex-account, the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigrants has resulted in over 3,500 arrests. Secretary of Homeland Security Christie Noem joined a raid Tuesday morning where ICE officers made an arrest in New York. The Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting is underway. Investors believe the central bank will leave interest rates unchanged when the meeting concludes tomorrow. It comes as the Fed weighs how the Trump administration's economic agenda might impact inflation and the economy as a whole. Google says it will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in Google Maps. The company said Monday it's just waiting on the info to be updated in the U.S. geographic name system after President Trump changed the name last week. The company will also change Mount Denali in Alaska to Mount McKinley. Giant new barriers are being erected on New Orleans Bourbon Street just weeks after a terrorist drove a truck through the tourist district and killed 14 people. The city says the steel wedges are designed to prevent a similar attack in the French quarter. The city is gearing up for both the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras. It was previously announced that the city would get this extra security thanks to federal grants. In addition to the wedges, there will be bombs-nipping dogs, air security, and technical assistance. Dolly Parton's musical will debut in Nashville this summer before heading to Broadway. Dolly, an original musical, will begin previews at Belmont University's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts on July 18th. Parton said Nashville has been her musical home for over 60 years, so it's the right and perfect place for the world premiere. Casting for the show has not been revealed, the limited Nashville engagement will run through August 17th. Eileen Citellar The White House will hold its first press briefing at President Trump's second term today. The briefing will be new press secretary Caroline Levitt's first. At 27 years old, she is the youngest person ever to hold the position. Norfolk Southern and the village of East Palestine, Ohio are reaching a settlement over a train derailment in 2023 that led to a toxic spill. The derailment caused toxic chemicals to contaminate the air, soil, and creeks in the area. East Palestine will be provided $22 million from the railway company to use for needs identified connected to the incident. In a joint statement, the two sides said the agreement now resolves all claims made by the village. Last year, Norfolk Southern agreed to pay $600 million to settle a class action lawsuit with the money going to those impacted by the derailment. One person is dead after an incident at North Carolina, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, WCNC says an American Airlines employee died yesterday after reportedly being hit by a vehicle on a ramp next to the gates. There were no flight delays or cancellations because of the accident. American Airlines was fined $20,000 for hazardous work conditions in 2019. A wanted fugitive is under arrest in North Texas, Pearson Anthony escaped from a prison in Alabama and disappeared. His bid for freedom ended this week when he decided to stop at a popular gas station chain called Bucky's. His getaway car was spotted by the Melissa Police Department, which uses license plate reading technology. They pulled him over and slapped on the cuffs. The police chief said in a statement that Anthony will be sent back to Alabama where he'll face new criminal charges. The Jonas Brothers are coming back to Disney to produce and star in a Christmas movie for the 2025 holiday season. Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas will deal with obstacles while trying to make it from London back to New York in time to spend Christmas with their families.
