"This is your 24/7 News Update, the latest views this hour in just four minutes." Democrats are pushing back after President Trump ordered a freeze on federal aid. Peter Alexander reports from the White House on an internal memo of what's included "For an aid, non-governmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the Green New Deal. The memo says Social Security and Medicare will not be affected, and neither would payments directly from the government to individuals." Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Donald Trump's administration blatantly disobeys the law by holding up virtually all vital funds that support programs in every community across the country. Immigration raids are still underway across the country. Gabe Gutierrez has more. The number of daily arrests rising. A senior administration official telling NBC News, ICE arrested nearly 1,200 undocumented immigrants in one day. But roughly half had criminal records, in addition to being in the country illegally. According to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's ex-account, the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigrants has resulted in over 3,500 arrests. The Trump administration is firing more than a dozen officials who worked on criminal investigations into the now-president. A letter from Acting Attorney General James McHenry said they cannot be trusted to faithfully execute Trump's agenda. It comes as the White House moves to investigate prosecutors who oversaw criminal cases against the January 6th defendants. The death toll from the devastating wildfires around Los Angeles is now at 29. Another death was reported by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office Monday, the result of the Palisades Fire. That fire erupted January 7 and destroyed more than 23,000 acres and thousands of structures. The doomsday clock is one second closer to midnight. The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists announced they were setting the clock to 89 seconds to midnight now. This is the shortest time to zero hour in its history, spanning 75 years. Daniel Holtz, a professor who chairs the Bulletin of Science and Security Board, said the clock is meant to start a global conversation about the very real existential threats that keep the world's top scientists awake at night. Eilice Taylor, the Border Patrol is confirming that agents in South Texas were shot at from someone on the Mexican side of the border. Agents did return fire and seek cover. Spokeswoman Christina Smallwood says nobody was hit by the gunfire. The agents were on a strip of land in the Rio Grande called Fronten Island. It's been a hot spot for cartel activity, smugglers, if historically used it as a staging point for large groups, both Texas and Mexico have made conflicting claims regarding the island's ownership. Lawmakers are discussing the Panama Canal's impact on U.S. trade and national security on Capitol Hill today. Texas Senator Ted Cruz said the Panama Canal is vital to America's economic interests and added Panama as treating America unfairly. "The Panama Canal was not just given away. President Carter struck a bargain. He made a treaty. And President Trump is making a serious and substantive argument that that treaty is being violated right now." Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, is holding the hearing where witnesses speaking include representatives from the Federal Maritime Commission and shipping law experts. It comes after President Trump suggested the U.S. could take control of the canal. A tuberculosis outbreak in the Kansas City area is now the largest documented outbreak in U.S. history, according to state officials, Jennifer Pulsoni reports. "There are currently nearly 70 people being treated for TB on the Kansas side of Kansas City. It's the largest outbreak since the state first started monitoring and reporting back in 1950." CNN anchor Jim Acosta is leaving the cable news network. Acosta's decision comes as CNN is shaking up its lineup and programming. The network reportedly wanted to move Acosta from his 10 a.m. eastern time slot into a two-hour slot that started at midnight. Acosta has been with CNN since 2007. Florida is the best place to retire this year, according to a new study by Wallet Hub, due to its low taxes for retirees and the funding it receives for seniors from the Older Americans Act, which funds transportation and nutrition programs for older residents.
