Columbia President Gustavo Petro is ordering an increase in import tariffs on goods from the United States following President Trump's tariffs and sanctions. Petro said on X that he ordered an increase on import tariffs from the U.S. by 25 percent. Trump hit Columbia on Sunday with 25 percent tariffs on all goods coming into the U.S. along with a travel ban and immediate visa revocations on government officials and all allies and supporters. Columbia rejected two planes carrying migrants with Trump saying the denial has jeopardized the national security and public safety of the United States. An Israel and Lebanon ceasefire has been extended. In a statement today, the White House said that the Hezbollah and Israel ceasefire is now set to be effective until February 18th. An earlier agreement had a time frame of two months in which Israel would pull out its army from southern Lebanon as the Lebanese armed forces would start deployments in the same area. A Drug Enforcement Administration raid in Colorado resulted in seized drugs, weapons, and apprehended international gang members. Lisa Carton has details. The DEA says its local division operated a raid on a drug trafficking ring that involved members of the Venezuelan gang, Trendo Aragua, ICE agents, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were also on scene. The DEA said about 50 undocumented immigrants were taken into custody. Elon Musk is telling Germany to move on from their country's past mistakes. He made a surprise speech yesterday to the far right political party known as alternative for Germany. Musk spoke about preserving and embracing German culture while forgetting the country's past. The billionaire took it a step further and said he thinks German people are too guilt ridden over the atrocities that occurred during the Holocaust. Southern California is bracing for more rainfall and potential mudslides. A flood watch is in effect through tomorrow night and Los Angeles County Public Works is preparing for possible mudslides. The agency says it's working with local and state agencies to protect against potential debris and mudflows in areas scorched by the recent wildfires. I'm Chris Caragio. Federal health officials are urging pet food companies to increase safeguards due to the rise in cat illnesses and deaths from bird flu contaminated raw pet food and raw milk. The Food and Drug Administration recently advised pet food manufacturers to source ingredients from flocks or herds that are healthy and begin using heat treatment to inactivate harmful viruses. The bird flu outbreak began in 2022 and is spread among both domestic and feral cats. The FDA also recommends pet owners cook all raw pet food to eliminate risk. Store closures last year were at the highest level since the pandemic and the trend shows no signs of letting up in 2025. Over 7,300 brick and mortar retail outlets shuttered in 2024, according to data from course site research. This year, nearly 2,000 stores have closed already and that number could reach 15,000 by year end. Party City and Big Lots are leading the way. Target is the latest big company to end its diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Here's Lisa Carton. The Minneapolis based retailer announced the decision in a memo to employees on Friday. According to CNBC, the memo cited the importance of staying in step with the evolving landscape to help drive growth and serve its millions of customers. With the move, Target joins companies like Walmart, Meta and McDonald's in dropping DEA related pledges and goals. However, in prior years, Target had said the murder of George Floyd in the company's hometown of Minneapolis motivated it to strengthen its DEI programs. The last four monkeys that escaped from a South Carolina research facility have been safely recaptured. Over 40 monkeys escaped in early November after a caretaker at the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in Yemasi didn't secure the doors. At that time, nearby residents were told to lock their doors and windows and call 911 if they spotted any of the monkeys.
