President Trump says he wants Egypt and Jordan to take in Palestinians who were displaced by the war in Gaza. Trump spoke to reporters on Air Force One late Saturday and said he had a phone call with King Abdullah II of Jordan and told him quote, "I'd love for you to take on more because I'm looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now, and it's a mess." Millions of Palestinian refugees are living in camps in Egypt, Jordan, and other Middle Eastern countries. Egypt has said it will not take any more Palestinian refugees. South Dakota Governor Christie Noem, who gained a national spotlight during the coronavirus pandemic, was confirmed by the Senate on Saturday to lead the Department of Homeland Security. Lisa Carton has more. Following the Senate's vote to confirm former South Dakota Governor Christie Noem as Homeland Security Secretary, she resigned her former post. Lieutenant Governor Larry Rodin now becomes governor. In her resignation letter, Noem called it a privilege to serve the people of South Dakota. The Senate voted to confirm Noem for Homeland Security Secretary by a vote of 59 to 34 on Saturday. Noem will oversee 22 agencies with more than 260,000 employees who work on issues ranging from the border to federal disaster management to the Secret Service. I'm Lisa Carton. Elon Musk is telling Germany to move on from their country's past mistakes. On Saturday, Musk made a surprise speech to the far-right political party known as alternative for Germany. Musk spoke about preserving and embracing German culture while forgetting the country's past. And more U.S. troops have arrived near the border of Mexico as part of the crackdown on immigration. Earlier this week, the Pentagon announced at least 1,500 troops would be sent to the southern border in El Paso and San Diego on Saturday, a second deployment of soldiers arrived in El Paso. I'm Jim Forbes. President Trump has fired at least a dozen inspectors general in the federal government. A senior White House official confirmed the news saying they were fired because they don't quote "align" with the new Trump administration. People say the legal justification of those firings is murky at best, especially since Congress strengthened protections for inspectors general from undue terminations back in 2022. Inspectors general are typically independent figures in the government tasked with conducting objective audits of their agencies. Online force betting is legal in New Jersey, but advertising it on the Internet could be banned in the Garden State if one state lawmakers bill becomes law. Danny DeCrencenzo has more assemblyman Brian Bergen's proposed legislation from earlier this month aims to prohibit the quote posting distributing broadcasting or disseminating of any online sports betting advertising. It would empower the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to do so. Bergen told New Jersey 101.5 that his goal is to protect the state's youth, saying that children in New Jersey are seeing sports betting quote in a glorified way. He added that he plans to introduce legislation that will call for the ads to be banned on television, too. Kia is recalling over 80,000 of its Nero vehicles for issues with its seat belts and airbags. Federal safety regulators say adjusting the front passenger seat could cause serious safety risk by damaging the wiring, which controls critical features, including the airbag and seat belts. That could prevent airbags from deploying properly during a crash, deploying unexpectedly or not switching off for small passengers heightening the possibility of injury. And Pete Carroll will reportedly be back on NFL sidelines next season. Multiple reports say the Las Vegas Raiders have reached a three-year deal with Carroll to be their next head coach.
