This is your 24/7 News Update, the latest news this hour in just four minutes. The new Commander-in-Chief receives an invitation to address his colleagues in Congress. House Speaker Mike Johnson is inviting President Trump to deliver an address to Congress. Johnson asked the President to speak to both chambers in March to share his "America First" vision for our legislative future. Johnson said, quote, "America's Golden Age has begun and the country is already experiencing a resurgence of patriotism thanks to Trump. This would mark Trump's first joint address to Congress of his second term. Four Israeli soldiers released from Captivity Saturday are receiving medical evaluations after being reunited with their families. The Israeli military says the four women were flown by helicopter to a hospital in Southern Israel. Doctors say the four appear to be relatively healthy despite their 15-month ordeal. Israel released 200 Palestinian prisoners as it's part of the ceasefire that went into effect last weekend. President Trump has fired at least a dozen inspectors general in the federal government. Chris Caragio has the latest. A senior White House official confirmed the news, saying they were fired because they don't align with the new Trump administration. People say the legal justification of those firings is murky at best, especially since Congress strengthened protections for inspectors general from undue terminations in 2022. Inspectors general are typically independent figures in the government tasked with conducting objective audits of their agencies. I'm Chris Caragio. And police in West Palm Beach, Florida announced they have arrested a man who allegedly made threats on social media to kill President Donald Trump. Police got a tip on January 19th that Shannon Adkins made threats against Trump on Facebook. Police say the threats were, quote, "violent rhetoric," political views, and his opinion aimed at the president. Adkins was arrested Friday night near his West Palm Beach home and was found with three baggies of cocaine in his pocket. I'm Jim Forbes. Officials at Chicago Public Schools mistakenly claimed ICE agents visited the school on Friday. It turns out secret service agents were at Hamline Elementary School on an unrelated matter. A secret service spokesman said they were investigating a threat to one of their "protectees" related to the recent TikTok man. Those agents went to a home near the school and then the school itself. Chicago Public Schools and the two federal agents were not allowed in the school and left without entering. South Dakota Governor Chrissy Noem, who gained a national spotlight during the coronavirus pandemic, was confirmed by the Senate on Saturday to lead the Department of Homeland Security. Here's Lisa Carton with more. Following the Senate's vote to confirm former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary, she resigned her former post. Lieutenant Governor Larry Rodin now becomes governor. In her resignation letter, Noem called it a privilege to serve the people of South Dakota. The Senate voted to confirm Noem for Homeland Security Secretary by a vote of 59 to 34 on Saturday. Noem will oversee 22 agencies with more than 260,000 employees who work on issues ranging from the border to federal disaster management to the secret service. I'm Lisa Carton. The NFL's championship Sunday will determine which teams will face off in Super Bowl 59. At 3 p.m. Eastern, the Washington commanders will take on the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC Championship. The Eagles beat Washington in November while the commanders took down Philly in December. Then the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills for the AFC Championship at 6.30 p.m. Eastern. The Bills and Chiefs played each other in November with Buffalo walking away victorious. And Mel Gibson's latest movie, Flight Risk, is flying to the top of the weekend box office.
